I was at Altona beach yesterday with my hubby we had lunch at the Altona pines fish and chips theirs burgers were great nice flavors in the burger and the fish was perfectly grilled how I liked it so well done always busy but they do a awesome job keep it up peeps see you guys soon again :-) xx
World best fish and chips if you buy from some where else you be stupid
Got to try food from here. Fish and chips were the nicest I have tried for a long time. The Flake was good chips and potato cakes wonderful. Service spot on. Time to cook was within the time frame we were told. Staff were very nice
Been there a multiple times and always satisfied, can't go wrong on a beautiful sunny day with a refreshing can of cocacola!

iv been here more then 5 times i live it love the chips fish and potato cakes ! Fresh POTATO CAKES EVERR ! The burgers are beautiful !

Guilt-free grease-fest. It’s hard to differentiate between beachside fish and chip shops, y’know? They all have big vats of hot grease that they throw various forms of fish and potatoes into. You get your treats wrapped in a sheet of newsprint that quickly gets oily, then you take them outside somewhere to eat while seagulls squizz you. Altona Pines is one of those places. I have nothing particular to recommend nor condemn it for. I’ve been to dozens just like it. If it wasn’t for going back and reading my Urbanspoon reviews, I couldn’t remember a one of those places.
The thing I’ll remember about Altona Pines is the potato cakes I had, not the blue grenadier. Potato cakes are a traditional Aussie thing, right? I don’t recall seeing them at fast food places in Canada or the U.S. (Hash-brown cakes are not quite the same.) The potato cakes I had at Altona Pines were the first ones I ever ate. So they’re like deep-fried mashed potatoes, eh? Brilliant! Australia does potato cakes and Canada invents poutine. I’d say that match goes to Australia. The price can go take a leap into boiling oil, though. 90¢ for a single potato cake? I bet many people reading this can remember 10¢ potato cakes. A hockey puck-sized one of these things shouldn’t cost more than a quarter; 5 for $1 I reckon.
This is now my local fish and chip shop and buy here at least once a fortnight. The chips are perfect - chunky and crunchy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside. Snapper and whiting is our fave, always fresh and cooked perfectly. Battered calamari is also delicious!
Potatoes rock!. Deliciously crispy and not too thick potato cakes and yummy stubby potatoey chips! Service was friendly and efficient. Those that like lemon with their fish can now be satisfied here. Great location opposite the lush green

It is a fantastic, old-style fish & chipper with a high wooden counter where you order, the option of chicken salt (yeah!) and plenty of butcher's paper to wrap up your crispy goodies.
We had this on Friday night.
Chips were delicious, crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside
Potato cakes were yummy
Chicken souvalaki very tasty
Grilled flake - a little bit dry but still edible
Could do with a little less salt
No burnt taste or old oil taste and I am extremely fussy with that.

Ordered flake, potato cake, seafood stick, chicken burger and chips during the Sunday lunch time rush. Customer service was ok and prices were reasonable.
Food was ready within ten minutes which was surprising given that it was very busy.
All the food was up to standard, no complaints. The chips tasted great, not like a 'solid potato' taste that some other shops have with their chips.
My only complaint was that for $5 minimum chips, the portion was quite small. However, I would still come back in the future and recommend this shop!
Chips were good and had a large range in menu options - seafood, potatoes, falafel, hot dogs, desserts and more. I had fried banana (reminds me of Malay cuisine). No beer-batter to worry about. Super popular fish and chips shop, there was a little wait for the food. The workers were working really hard on such a hot day as well. We bought this (photos) and it was more than enough for a family (2 adults, 2 kids). I’ll be back with more friends and family. Good hot Food and filling.
