Review Ohnamiya Japanese Takeaway - Applecross

Nethanel Ong
Got my lunch here . Portion is just nice and the pricing is okay. Would recommend this for a quick lunch. plenty of sections and atmosphere is great. Would give more star is the flavour is more full. And also parking is a bit tight here around noon.

All time Japanese food favs! Love their J box sushi rice 🥰

UPDATE (Feb 2022): Had takeaway over the weekend and noticed that the food was not the same as before. Poorer in quality. I suspect a change in management. I hope I am wrong! Used to be my favourite. Now dropping it from 5 to 4 stars. 2021: One of my favourite Japanese restaurants in Perth.
Natasha
Fantastic restaurant to eat all your favourite Japanese foods. The menu is huge and so many different food boxes on offer. You choose your meat/protein then you choose what options you want as a side. My favourite meal is teryaki salmon sushi box which has some delicious pickles. My friend likes to order the chicken katsu deluxe box which comes with lots of sides such as agedashi tofu, egg and salad. The service is friendly and efficient. The staff are very helpful and happy to explain menu items to their customers. Seating available and complimentary green tea available. To all that enjoy Japanese food this restaurant is highly recommended.
Erica Honey
Vegetarian options are available, very well priced, they cater to fussy eaters and make large party sushi platters also. Service is great. Complimentary tea. My only suggestion for improvement is that more gf options are available.
Lucy Meyers
Ordered sashimi there yesterday and the whole family had food poisoning. We all experienced bad gastro all day and my daughter fainted because of severe vomiting. She’s now in hospital with a drip! Disgusting dirty place!! Never going back again!!!
Kathrine Makin-Wright
Got dinner from here last night via Uber eats and it was terrible. Small serve of teriyaki chicken, Tofu and egg was on a sauce which had turned to gel. Not tasty

Very nice food in summertime & sunny winters day needs more setting areas . Overall very good
Rafira
This place is so cute and cozy! The menu is really well set out and has a lot of variety. There are different sizes for many dishes and the serving sizes are well priced for what you get. I would like to try more things on the menu!

🍲 Delicious food. Servings are generous. I ordered grilled beef and octopus balls - food tasted fresh and delicious.
💵 You get what you pay for.
🙋🏻‍♀️Service was ok. Very friendly. Food was brought out quickly.
🍃 A nice little spot for lunch. The space is limited but it is clean and light.
👨‍👩‍👦‍👦 Family friendly.
🚘 Lots of parking right outside the venue.

I live nearby and I have frequented this restaurant since it opened. When it comes to restaurants there is only one thing better than being good and that is to be consistently good. Ohnamiya is consistently good, the food is consistently delicious, the staff are consistently polite and respectful and the wait times are consistently modest.
Effy Stoner
This is one of my favourite Japanese restaurants in Perth. I had been here for several times and every time they provided friendly and helpful service. The staff there are well trained and usually know what to do. Highly recommend this restaurant you will not be disappointed.
Rey Loh
There's really nothing special here. There's not really much else to say, but really. This place is pretty boring. And stiff. The food is semi-decent and just edible. Um. The wait time is a bit long.
James Reddicliffe
Cannot fault this place. Consistently spot on with delicious, authentic Japanese. Have many favourites by the beef yakiniku and panna cotta are recommended.

Ohnamiya is one of my favorite to go place for quick and safe japanese meal! They have so many options and size and package to choose from. You can adjust your meal with sushi, with rice, with bento box, etc. after going there so many times, I have settled on my favorite Chicken Chilli Don :) i think it is the best there so far! Fresh, juicy and deliciois chicken on a bed of warm rice mixed with japanese sauce, mayo and seasoning! That being said, ever now and then I still venture out and try something else (teriyaki fish).
Yozora
I went to the Myaree store for the first time recently and tried their teriyaki-don, I was amazed that the sauce tastes exactly like unagi-don sauce, my suspicion is that they use the same sauce for both dishes. A big disappointment. I can make a far better teriyaki-don at home.
Marcella Musuruca
My weekly routine consisted of driving down 30 minutes away from home just to eat my favourite Katsu chicken sushi in Perth. Nothing beats this gem. Oh how I’d love to wash it down with some Japanese tea. Fresh and tasty always wins
Ilovebeansprouts
Good value for money, especially the bento boxes. Food is simple, but good. The $5 Side Dishes are great starters or tasters if you want a bit of variety. Ingredients are fresh and food is tasty. One of our favourites is the Teriyaki Fish- it's got a nice buttery flavour to it. Panna Cotta is creamy, has a good wobble and pleasant green tea flavour.
Service is quick and efficient. Staff are warm & welcoming.
Great place for a quick and simple meal.
Madeyoueat
They do have high chairs for kids, but there is definitely no space for strollers. Not really geared for family with little kids. More of a quick eat place where you eat and go once you're done. They even have a sign up saying for you to kindly give up your seat during busy period once you're done with your meal.
Understandable as this place is quite small, it has been there for as long as I can remember and it is always busy during lunch hour. Their food is awesome and priced very well.
This time around we ordered the beef udon soup, tofu bento and chicken karaage don. Love that they offer free hot green tea.
Sam Sarasvati
Always always always come back here. Most of the time it's busy but the food is really great. I mostly go for the chicken teriyaki rice box and it never disappoints. The raw salmon don is also really good too, but be sure to also order the pannacotta! Best one I've had in quite a while.

Very busy on Thursday evening but the service was good. Good food, Good price, Good choice and Good value .
Karaage chicken deluxe bento box $14.80
Chicken katsu delux bento box $14.80

Long term visitors to the Myaree restaurant but thought we would try Applecross takeaway for a change. Big mistake! They forgot part of the order which meant it was pretty much inedible without it. I called them from home and they refused to replace it. Then after consulting 3 staff members they agreed to make me a correct meal if I bought the old one back and actually said, "this is the only time we will do this". When I arrived was met with maximum attitude and I just felt really offended and disappointed and like I had done something wrong. We'll only go back to Myaree from now on where both the food and service has always been spot on.

Best bento meal I’ve ever had in Perth! A nice medium sized restaurant with wood accents and Japanese decor. Staff was friendly and helpful. The meal : aburi salmon nigiri and the deluxe katsu chicken bento meal. No complaints 😁. I’ll definitely go back for more 🤤

Ordered dinner from here based on ratings. Unfortunately I can't contribute to any positivity today. I ordered chicken Katsu rice box, only to find the smallest sliver of chicken covered in a thick layer of batter. Pretty disappointing.
Zoodle
The food was so delicious! Even a simple miso soup here is special. Katsu chicken yumm. Spicy fish Don was delightful! Attentive and friendly service.
I.live.to.eat
it's a good choice if you're looking for variety in your meal, and if you're going to use the entertainment book voucher for 25% off. Considering 2 of the bento compartments were salad veggies, you're not actually getting much proper food. it was $14.80 for our chicken katsu and chicken karaage bentos, and an extra $1 for a rather reasonable portion of rice, although the rice was quite dry and unlike the usual sticky japanese rice. wouldn't come without a voucher, but for 12$ after the discount, it's probably worth coming to once a year. taka's is much tastier and better value for money portion wise, but you miss out on the variety that you can get here.
Liv
It can get quite noisy and crowded at times but they make up for that with their consistently great food. perfect for a friday night takeaway for the family.
.rednosekuma
It's been a while since i was here last. The food is still very nice, a simple Japanese meal that's cooked beautifully. My husband who's never been here before, loved this place and ready for another visit in the near future.
Steve
Out of my expectation..Although the food is still very nice, but I don't find it as good value as it used to be. It's a nice place to bring kids, a lot of the menu choices are suitable for them and very good service.
J Smith
It's ok, it's cheap Japanese but I've definitely had better for comparable prices - (everyday sunday in myaree, taka in the city and freo). The chicken teriyaki were slivers of meat and not very fresh tasting. My friend loves this place and I just don't taste it.
Foodie In Paradise
Came here multiple times and food has been consistently great. Very busy little place in the evening and hard to get a seat.
Free green tea and reasonable price. Staffs are friendly too.
Michael Thompson
I was hanging for some katsu chicken and found this only a few hundred metres from home. Bit of a warm day outside and the air con inside was lovely and cold, good start. Grabbed a deluxe chicken katsu and it came out in a cool house like box that you break down to create the spread of food. I think all the flavours were good but I'm so use to the generic rice, soy sauce, mayo and chicken all piled together. Will keep searching to find the best in town. Good meal and good value

Rang the restaurant in Applecross to query on reserving a table this evening and was immediately hung up on me when told no booking request was required. Now what impression should we gather from that wanting to try their food for the first time?
Max Koh
I'm sorry
They could have done an awesome job but failed

Pro:
Japanese rice with some Japanese seasoning is offered
Reasonable price for portion
Free green tea!
Tofu is hot when served

Cons:
Japanese rice is sub standard (not good enough but not terrible)
Sushi Chef doesn't seem to know what a toro cut it (it sure doesn't look Nor taste like toro) (yet I paid extra but portion is decent)
Don't serve Japanese egg if it's overcooked! I love they had an egg inside but serve a damn ramen egg or a tamago instead
Sushi roll (in bento box fail) it's not good at all

I had the sashimi bento, ordered extra TORO sashimi & miso soup
They have potential but they it up

Sean
Food is great.atmosphere is good. Free tea. Staff are friendly. Need to be there before 630pm as lots of people dinning in.
Sushi beton is the best choice.
Mishelle
We eat here all the time, it is our favourite Japanese restaurant. I find both the locations to be the same quality, however the myaree one is usually less busy. The udon noodles are amazing, I hope they make the beef one currently offered as a special as a permanent item on their menu. The chicken katsu curry is also a favourite of ours. I can't recommend this place enough, and the price is also very good :)
AM
I was pretty happy with my salmon don but it wasn't anything special. The sushi was one of the worst I have had. I get better sushi at the mall so won't be going here again.
Asianfoodie
Very average food. Very pricey for the very average food which I can easily get at Taka. Portion was also small. Not returning. Waitstaffs weren't efficient either.
Cadie
I have been to this place a few times and I am always satisfied with my choice. They have awesome bento box with many options such as chicken karaage, chicken katsu, teriyaki beef or salmon. I will definitely come back more often even I stay far away from Applecross.
Shoey Kay
Cheap, cheerful, always tasty and decent sized portions.
Have been coming here for years and it's consistently good.
I usually get takeaway as I find it a bit squishy for dining in.
Mita
I loved this casual dining, very busy so if you want quick meal, I recommend take-away.
Ordered teriyaki salmon bento box, it was delicious!
Very busy restaurant but highly recommended!
LittleAsianGirl
This Japanese restaurant is not too bad. Dishes were so so. Like the bento boxes as it does come with some sides. Not something I would come again and again for.
Asian's Taste
Went here last Saturday with my friend..all the food that we ordered are good. But average..nothing extra ordinary
Still happy to come back though
We had terrayaki tofu and karage
For dessert panna cotta green tea.
Sharon Khor
Visited the restaurant for lunch recently. The shop was stuffy and stink, must be due to the carpet or the table cloths that full of germs. It's so not hygienic.
Never go back again..
Asha
This is my favourite place to go to for Katsu Chicken Curry, and so far it's the best I've tasted in Perth. The curry sauce is served in a gravy boat which leaves the Katsu chicken nice and crispy when it gets to the table and comes with rice and red pickled ginger at $12.50 a serve it is great...
LittleMiss
Serving portions of chicken was not huge...however the service was good and food was relatively speedy :) Complimentary green tea is also a nice touch.
Dee Dee
I always go Ohnamiya for their Salmon Don. The quality of their salmon is good. Can't say the same about the tuna though. It was dry and tasteless. They seems to have quite a variety which I haven't try. Will return for more.
THE ILLUSIVE FEMME
Delicious Japanese in the suburbs. The cafe is tiny and it's probably best to order some take away, but Yum! The Miso is fabulous and fresh. Great sushi and delicious Teriyaki Chicken and Katsu. Everything is good here, I wish I lived closer!
More Than Nourishment
We had the teriyaki chicken don, chicken karaage chili don and agedashi tofu. I was disappointed with the teriyaki chicken.. Where is the sauce?! The actual chicken tastes nice however the rice lacked flavour with no teriyaki sauce. The karaage was nice but a bit too buttery. The agedashi tofu was delish with a thick sauce. Free green tea is a nice touch.
Evonne
Definitely less busy than Ohnamiya Applecross (have never had to wait at Melville, including Sat nights), but the same good crumb on the katsu! Caters to larger groups than Applecross but decor is less refined. Highly recommend the katsu bentos. Don't come here for sushi though. Good value.
Janie Nuggets
Everytime we have come here, the service is quick and the food is so delicious. We order chicken katsu curry and the curry udon, which are now staple favourites of ours. We also get the sushi, which is prepared by masters in the kitchen.
Not once have we had a bad experience here. We have tried almost everything on the menu and everything is good and we get a table straight away. It is always busy here too.
Sugarbutterflour
Good choice for quick lunch or dinner.. Their deluxe bento box consist of really good items.. Love the sesame chicken and the egg.. Other good dish is chili chicken karaage don.. Really tasty but probably portion can be abit more generous on yge chicken and mayo side..
Matchalover
Came here for dinner. I ordered the agedashi tofu bento. It was really flavourful and I loved the sauce on top of it. The sushi was also really nice and did not fall apart when I was eating it. We also ordered a toro salmon sashimi. It was really fresh and delicious with the sauce provided. The prices of the dishes were average, not super cheap but not expensive either. Would probably return again to try the other bentos. The service was not bad. We got served the salmon sashimi quite quickly then the bentos afterwards. Really loved the complimentary self serve tea. Probably the best I've had in a Japanese restaurant, as it didn't taste like ordinary green tea!

Hit and miss. Sashimi was thin and pathetic looking. Udon noodle soup beautiful. Sushi... i have had much better. Agedashi Tofu delicious. Just hit and miss

We adore their free green tea and the flakes on top of your rice. Their soft shell crab is faultless for me,it's a must to order. Beef teriyaki is my fave. Warm people and cozy place.
JF
Great food, great service at an affordable price. Have been coming to this restaurant since it opened many years ago. Compares in quality to some of the most expensive Japanese restaurants in Perth.
ITADAKiMASU
Wow what a gem of a restaurant! I was lured in by all the gorgeous photos of the green tea panna cotta. Great prices and delicious authentic food. I brought a Japanese friend who had a case of nostalgia when she had the self-serve sencha green tea that is complementary with the food. Love the wooden décor and uneven tables, the flat cushions on the wooden benches remind me of tatami mats.

The teriyaki salmon chilli don wasn't spicy at all to me so I was a bit disappointed but it was still delicious. The service seemed frantic though with the waitress not writing 2 of 3 dishes down. They'd forgotten our dessert which we waited for half an hour and had to ask another waitress. The panna cotta was well worth the wait. It was absolute perfection one of the best I've ever had and only $6! I will definitely be coming back.
BREAKFASTforever
Can't go wrong. Takeaway or dine in, both are good. Favourites are agedashi tofu rice box, katsu chicken curry, and salmon sashimi don. Yum!

I came in last week for the first time. The staff are very friendly which must be one reason for the loyalty of customers. The dish I tried, chicken katsu curry, was excellent. Served with the curry separate so the chicken keeps its texture, and very generous portions for lunch considering the price. I would need to come back a few more times before I could write a longer review but this was a good experience.
Student Cravings
This is an exceptional Japanese restaurant at an affordable price. All the meals taste fresh, the miso soup is delicious, and they have a particular spice blend they use on their rice which elevates the meal. This place is all about the small details, such as the use of grated carrot and soft tofu in the miso soup, the adorable little tobacco boxes that house their meals and the free green tea. All of their meals give that little creative mouth watering twist to done to death, traditional meals. Every meal I've ordered here has left me excited for the next visit. Well done Ohnamiya, you're raising the standard for the suburban Japanese restaurant.

Seriously heartbroken... after nearly ten years of weekly visits to this place I'm saddened that we were treated so inconsiderately. They mistakenly gave us the wrong dish but refused to exchange it. Arguing that we confirmed the order when the waitress read it back to us... but were we the ones not paying attention or did they just stuff up the order?... for the sake of insisting we pay again for the correct dish - $12 - they've now lost one of their most loyal customers, and committed flag wavers - we will now stop telling everyone we know how great this place is... and they have also lost about $1800 a year of our business. I might be right in saying that the management/ownership has changed, as the other dishes were disappointing as well. Not great like it normally is. Karaage chicken was damp and oily, Agadashi Tofu was very bland when usually it's magical... I hope for the sake of the name and reputation that it doesn't disappoint other loyal customers.

This place is always busy and you cant book. Dont bring a big group, as we found out. Ended up waiting outside and ordering takeaway, and going to a nearby friends to share our loot.

The food is delicious! Huge fan of the karaage chicken!

Lovely and patient staff...who managed not to make any errors on our big order.
Sweetlips
Nice place. Pretty relaxed and you feel a good vibe as soon as you walk in. The food is good and not expensive. The staff are friendly and helpful. I've been two weekends in a row to this little neighbourhood gem.. Another good thing is there's no BYO corkage charge either!🍷
Sweetlips gives it two flippers up! 🐠

Had dinner here tonight and forgot how much I love this place! The food and service is consistently good and the price is great too. Two rice bowls and a large sashimi to share and we had change from 40 bucks. What's not to like? Can't wait for my next visit!
Matchamadeinheaven
Best katsu chicken! Super fresh food and the girls that work there are super nice and accomodating. Always come here with my boyfriend and we have awesome dinners!!! Not that expensive either. Also try the sushi!
EnjoyinGodsBlessing
All time favourite karaage J bento box - the one with the sushi rice... It seems they reduce the rice portion though... This place never fails me, always came out happily fed and satisfied 😉
Cassie
The food here is nice, pretty standard Japanese food. I've tried a few of the dishes here including agadeshi tofu, spicy salmon rice bowl, teriyaki fish, salmon and chicken and chicken terimayo don. The terimayo with the amount of mayonnaise on the chicken was a bit too rich and fatty for me. I really like the agadeshi tofu and teriyaki fish and salmon, however the salmon can be a bit dry and overcooked.
Russ
This place is great in the food department. The Japanese is just great. The tofu is great, the chicken is cooked to perfection, the rice under the salmon was the best rice I have ever had, the chilli in the salmon was perfect and the salmon itself was just Devine. I would normally have given a place like this a 5, however it's s little crowded in here. I have been bumped by two different wait staff on two different occasions, and whilst on service they buggered up the first order they bought out. That's not really a biggy for us though.... They replaced it immediately for the right dish. They have a great option here as well... Free Japanese Tea... Great idea. We'll be back... Probably for takeaway in future. Try them out. It's worth the money you spend for a great meal.
Chris Barnes
I was hesitant to try this place, because I've really struggled to find decent Japanese in Perth lately (how hard is katsu seriously!? :P) but I was so pleasantly surprised.
Portions were large, taste was amazing. The only let down I encountered was the Mochi Icecream, I had assumed it was store made, but it was a hello kitty branded packaged mochi.... but my disappointment went away right after tasting it, it was amazing.
Will be back again, and again.
Hungerpangs
Oishii. This place is where you want to go for authentic Japanese food, and it deserves the 90% rating.

Having just moved to the area, I was in search of some good Japanese food. Decided to order some takeaway as I was eating alone for the night and I had high hopes. Over ordered as usual as I couldn't decide what to choose. Went with the tempura udon, the agadashi tofu with rice, and two serves of sushi; the avocado and the egg. Phoned up and was told it would be 10mins - brilliant.

Drove down and it's a busy little precinct. It was fully booked inside and there were a number of people also waiting to order takeaway.

Came home to unpack my dishes and was impressed by the presentation and serving size of the food. 5 sushi pieces in each and the agadashi tofu meal comes with a large quantity of rice (which they also asked on the phone if I would like seasoning with it), three good sized tofu pieces, half a boiled egg and some pickles on the side.

The sushi was delicious, not too sweet and the rice was cooked perfectly. The agadashi tofu had a nice covering of batter and contained quality tofu which held together when 'cut' with chopsticks to eat. The udon was delicious and had a nice bite to it and the broth wasn't too salty with a nice amount of dashi in it. This place obviously has Japanese chefs and can't be faulted. I couldn't eat it all so had enough leftovers for lunch.

At $29 all up, it's more than reasonable. Very happy this place is close by because it will be a regular dinner option.

Best inexpensive Japanese in Perth. Always fresh and prepared with care. So much love for this place.
Molly Thelaptopassassin
We get dinner at least once a week from here, inexpensive, beautifully cooked and presented and the staff are all fantastically lovely people. Definitely the best restaurant in Applecross.
C.p.allen
Get lunch here every Thursday, never been disappointed. Staff are always friendly and food is always good!

Excellent value. Nice food at nice prices.. Our favourite little place to have a cheap meal

Simple Traditional Japanese Food. If you are looking for a simple traditional japanese place to dine and not a fusion japanese food, this is the place. The food that this place serves is very simple yet fresh and nice. We waited for about 15 mins or more for the food without realizing. The waitress came to apologize and offer complimentary soup. Very kind of them even though we didn't realize it was very long. Just thought it is normal to wait since the place is busy. My favourite is the green tea Panna Cotta.
Melissajfarrow11
Best Japanese in Perth. This is the best Japanese food I have eaten in Perth. It was exceptionally fresh with the most delicate but flavoursome miso soup. I highly recommend this place, the service is very friendly. It does get busy though so be prepared and if you are not interested in waiting in line for a table order takeaway ahead of time and enjoy it by the river.
Alanm
Tasty food, good value. Had the tofu bento box...yum will defiantly go back
Eunice3890
You guys should try their desserts!
Chuckles025
Delicious, authentic Japanese food with great, friendly service and a nice atmosphere (everyone around us was taking about how great the place was). I really liked the complimentary green tea. Awesome place!

The best Miso soup I have tasted. Full of veggies and flavour. Love the fresh sashimi set. Fast and efficient service. A must in this area to visit!
Joe Thong
The best. Me and my girlfriend always come here for the same thing - Vege Udon Noodles and Katsu Chicken bento box.
Best Jap for the price in town, always a treat to come here.
marry me.
Colin
Ate here with a friend last week and holy Christ, what a find!

Friendly staff, packed to the rafters and still took the time and care to deliver a first class take away experience.

Had the chicken katsu curry and it blew me away. Huge portion and top notch quality. The chicken karage was to die for!

Get your arse down there!

Very fast and friendly service
Good serving portions
Really tasty food
Free refrigerated water
Free Japanese tea
Lots of tables available
RedDawn
Awful experience. $2.5 for a half filled miso soup was ridiculous. Staff refused to do a refund. Horrendous service.

Do yourself a favour - get the specials. We decided to dine in and thought we'd try one of the specials - best decision of the night!
RachelAdams
Great greentea panacota. Probably the best greentea panacota I've ever tasted! The only thing I truly enjoy from the menu is the curry(katsu, udon, etc.), all the curries are really nice. But other than that, the other menu is nothing special.
Janet
Awesome value sashimi.. As of yet, I've only tried the sashimi and it was unbelievable (got the large portion). The price was also extremely reasonable. Have recommended it to all my friends!

Have to add that the service was good too.

EDIT: Tried the Teriyaki Salmon and Teriyaki Fish...very happy! I've only ever had take-away but I really enjoyed my food and the service that was provided.
CS
Best Agedashi Tofu in Perth. Ohnamiya is my favourite Japanese restaurant in Perth. Friendly, reliable service. Authentic cuisine and great green tea too. Agedashi tofu is awesome.
Gemma D
Appalled... Didn't get as far as the food.. Ohnamya are obviously so well-patroned that they do not care if they ostracise some of their diners.

After waiting for a table I asked the staff member about gluten free options. Her response was "No, I cannot say". I was friendly and questioning, I explained that Japanese food was generally a good choice for the gluten intolerant, because so much was naturally gluten free, and that sauces and batters were the main problems. I asked if she could check with anyone. She ROLLED HER EYES, stepped over to the nearest staff member and had a brief conversation in Japanese. Then she came back and said "No, I cannot say if anything is gluten free." That was it.

We left, never to return.

It is truly disgusting for a restaurant to behave like this.

The food is undoubtly fresh and delicious, this has been our second time there. Got a table for two while my bf finds a parking and after 5 min was told to leave and wait on the side.the service was really fast but when we were finished the waitress who was passing by stopped and looked at us, indirectly signalling us to leave but my bf hasn't finish his drink. If you want a pleasant experience i would not recommend this place as its all about just take and go.
Franco
Self service and cheap.. This is a good manage restaurant (restaurant?). We like this place becuase it's cheap and taste ok. However it's so small portion (maybe we are huge eaters). The best part of it "the tea is free". To compensate the cheap you do have to service yourself.. Please try kutsu curry, it is nice.
Fiona
Cheap food that is average quality in a cold restaurant with unprofessional staff (school kids who giggle). Would come back if everything else was closed.
Traceymarie
Lovely sashimi. This place really is a little gem. Really fresh flavours and a great price. We eat like a Sumo wrestler here and enjoy every bite!
Grace Louise
Very clutted and always a squeeze to get in. Anyone considering who has a wheelchair or pram, forget it.
Prices are affordablr and the food is always fresh and tasty.
I visit here at least weekly however and am finding the menu very limiting and tired. A new dish from time to time would be great !
Darkcherry
Affordable, yummy and fresh.
Grace Zeng
Good value for what you pay for. However, it is NOT a kid friendly restaurant. A couple with a stroller were asked to leave their stroller outside l despite the restaurant being empty.
Jane Kung
Don't go there!. We went to the Myaree restaurant. Firstly,we were NOT ALLOWED to have a table until everyone has arrived, even though I told the staff that the rest are on the way. BTW, they do not accept booking.
My whole family went there to celebrate my daughter's birthday, but we were NOT ALLOWED TO CUT THE BIRTHDAY CAKE THERE! AWFUL!
Prices are not cheap with that kind of settings and service! It's all SELF SERVICE, You need to order at counter, get tea and utensils yourself.
$16 for a small meal (I am a lady, and one meal was not enough for me), with no service. I WILL NEVER RETURN
I Love Food
Always delicious. I have been a regular here for years now and it is the best Japanese in the area. Good variety and consistency off quality. Sashimi set is my favourite. Miso soup is the best I've tasted it is very hearty with lots of veges. This place has never let me down. The Katsu is also yum!

Be my Katsu Valentine?. Last night, I ventured once again to Ardross to dine. This time on some take away Japanese. I had been recomended Ohnamiya by my cousin also, a City of Melville local. My cousin isn't a big foodie but she is fussy, so I figured, if this Japanese rocked her little 'GLAY' socks off then it was probably going to be more than good enough for me!

Having been to Japan and eaten in some of the most amazing places while there, I am always a little hesitant to try out Japanese in Perth (this being said Nine Fine Foods in Northbridge served me up one of THE best sashimi plates I have had, in Japan, or anywhere else) as its usually produced in some kitchen run by a bunch of hard working Chinese cooks, at an exorbitant price.

When I called up Ohnamiya, the girl on the other end of the line was Japanese (win!!!) and was very polite and attended to all of my needs. I was assured that my meal would be ready in 15 minutes for pick up, enough time to wander/walk/stumble down after a gruelling day working as a florist (on the busiest day of the year for florists everywhere!) I was not dissappointed.

My chicken katsu and mixed sushi bento was bang on the money good. Excellent value and very, very tasty. It was even packaged up and presented much like it would be in Japan. Tiny condiment containers, pickles and sachets abounded! The teriyaki beef was also flavoursome, very tender and juicy. A winner in the otherwise lack lustre Risely Square circle of a carpark. Brilliant work and thankyou for making my Valentines day oh so perfectly 'pukka.'

Unbelievable. For the price and the quality, this place is amazing! Dine in or Takeaway this is by far some of the best japanese in perth! its not your fancy diner but the food is second to none!

My girlfriend and I have been coming to this place year in year out. I have never had a bad meal here and the price is almost too reasonable. You absolutely must try the precision cut sashimi. It is the freshest and most delicious.

There are more choices of bento boxes! And I felt that thought and effort is placed in arranging the food and choice of food in these bento. I especially enjoyed the agedashi tofu! Yummy! And the green tea panacotta!

Decent food & service. Being closed to home, we quite often dine in or have take aways from this place after work. The place is a bit cramped due to a limited dining space. Our favourite dishes are fish teriyaki bento box, teriyaki fish chilli don, sashimi and seafood katsu. Most of the dishes have a strong Japanese authenticity due to the fact that the chef/owner and his wife are Japanese. The food is decent with consistency throughout. The service is average. Overall, we will be coming back for sure.
