Review Cheeky Boy Espresso - Applecross

Jonathan Quay
This place has been a pretty safe bet for me for about as long as it’s been open. The coffee is good, and the dishes for lunch are usually very creative and tasty. Prices are definitely on the higher side but for what you’re getting it’s not too bad! Service is usually quite fast as well. On this particular day we didn’t have the most keen waiters unfortunately but I have had great experiences with staff here before. All in all, on the strip this is definitely one of the best places for a lunch brunch meal!

I really like the coffee and food in this place but really struggle with the off-handed nature of the staff. When the male owner is here it’s better but it has a whole different feel when the older woman is in charge. She is at best brusque and my observation is that she puts the staff on edge. Today, she was in charge and it was just rudeness. I arrived and went to place my order. I greeted the chap at the PoS with “good morning” - no reply - instead he looked at me waiting for an order. I started with “may I have” and finished with “please” and he just mentioned a dollar amount. I paid and said “thank you” and he wordlessly handed me a numbered spoon. The older woman, brought my coffee, my breakfast and then cleared my table. Each time I said “thank you” but she turned and said nothing. I love the food here (4/5)but I’d remind them they are in hospitality and manners count. Otherwise change the name to Rude Boy.

An intentionally quality place. I had an excellent flat white takeaway from here. It took a while because they were extremely busy during the Jacaranda festival, but kept checking on me as I waited. Their food looks divine and I’d love to come back and have that sometime. But the customer service was very intentional and kind and my coffee was really good. No complaints here

The smoothie and crumpets were good, but the sausages and avo toast were forgettable. We were quick to get a table for a large group which we appreciated, but there was no guidance on how to order and we weren’t even given menus. The service pitiful otherwise, the older lady (manager?) was rude and none of our simple food requests (e.g. sauce on the side) made it through to the kitchen. The best part about this place is the location.

I love cheeky boy! Fantastic location, brilliant vibe, lovely staff, sensational food and baked goods! Cheeky boy for me has the best avocado on toast I’ve ever had! The addition of a the chilli jam is just wow! Great spot never disappointed and highly recommend. See you for breakfast this morning!

Great food, very tasty gluten free bread, fantastic service. Was a rainy day and quite a small cafe so it was packed, but they had an umbrella outside with tables under which was lovely. Delicious looking sweet treats at the counter. Only suggestion if there could be a little sign visible from the outside of the cafe that would be awesome, as the signage on the espresso machine and the little boy on the menu cannot be seen if people are standing in front, and we weren't sure if it was the place we were looking for at first

Cheeky Boy Espresso is the one stop for great food and service. The food is great, rich in taste but most importantly we really appreciated their service. It was really crowded but the staff were really kind to give us a drink on the house .All in all , great place for Brunch and hanging out. 5 on 5 :)

I have order fish of the day today , it was so sour and could not finish the dish , so I ask my husband to swap the dish with his lunch and he couldn't eat it as well. We would like to suggest you , ask the chef to try out before serving customers, I am always enjoy your fish of the day and come from city to try out.

The truffle chips are the best chips I've ever had. Who would have thought someone would make chips worth raving about.

Nice friendly feel... staff make you feel welcomed and are always friendly. Coffee exceptional with taste, prompt delivery and temperature. Both Breakfast and lunch menu will not disappoint and there are always specials to try as foods are changed to to seasons. But the most amazing part is the delicious selection of cakes and amazing donuts that just temp even the strongest of will... A local hotspot.!!!

Love the coffee and food! Delicious menu! A little warm inside and kids didn't enjoy their chai tea- little weak (for me too).

I could not fault the incredible, above friendly service at Cheeky Boy. They make you feel like part of their family! The food is also amazing - the ARANCINI BALLS and the LEMON CHEESECAKE were both seriously to die for. I will be back to try more of their delicious menu! Highly recommend!

I was floored by the price of just toast with my coffee. $7.00 for VERY ordinary bread with very runny jam. Ate it as was not feeling well and needed something to eat. Shame on you Cheeky Boy!!! Pretty bad to say the least!!!
