Review Mammoth Cafe - Armadale

Negar Asadzadeh
It’s my go-to cafe when I’m around eastern suburbs. I ordered almond flat white which was really creamy and tasty! You guys never disappoint me! Not only your great customer service but also your great range of dishes.

Great breakfast burrito. Wife got the eggs benedict, said it was the best she has ever had. Coffee was amazing 👏 Can't complain!

This place is next level and just does everything right! Coffee ✅ Breakfast burrito ✅ Potato hash ✅ Service ✅ Even though Mammoth is on the other side of the city, I still commute every few weeks to have breakfast here.

There aren’t many 5 star cafes. Mammoth cafe does great coffee and food. Tried 3 different dishes so far and they were all good. Atmosphere is good too! Highly recommended! Photos are Chilli Scrambled Eggs and a Duck Benedict.

I come here for breakfast (and sometimes lunch) every time I go to work. I've been coming here for years now but with the change in menu, I thought I'd leave a review. I love the atmosphere - it's somewhere I can unwind even when the cafe is busy because the decor and interior design is relaxing and chic, the music is great (the other day they were playing 80's classics which was amazing), and the staff are always so chill and friendly. The food is great, the drinks are nice, and the staff are accommodating and friendly. Overall definitely recommend this place.

Great service and fantastic food - the Lockdown Menu is awesome. Back again after lockdown. Awesome once again, fantastic service and food. I had the Avacado Toast and do these people know how to poach eggs.....

The coffee and food are fantastic, however the conduct of staff is appalling. I recently went to order a coffee and could overhear the Mammoth Cafe staff making fun of a customers name who ordered a coffee online. The customers name was in fact one of non-Anglo Saxon background. I am disappointed and appalled to see overt racism in 21st century Australia by the staff of Mammoth Cafe. If you come from a non Anglo Saxon background, you may want to purchase coffee elsewhere. I do hope management can remind staff to keep their opinions to themselves, especially working in a service industry as I wonder how they would feel if they were the subject of racism?

Top 5 in Melbourne for me. Tasty as food, attentive staff, great coffee and a fresh space. Will definitely be back. Everything on the menu looked scummy!! Thanks for a great breakfast guys and girls

It's such a shame that Mammoth has gone down hill since it's opening. Original barista has gone all the Fantastic waiters all gone have now been replaced with people whom don't seem to know how to make coffee or serve customers...food still very good but front house staff not so good..
Isabella Bakken
Extremely disappointing. Poor service and not worth the hype. Chances of coming back are unlikely.

Absolutely fabulous food and wonderful staff yum!

Make the effort to go to this cafe. You will not regret it. Food was amazing, both in taste & presentation and the staff/service matched. Highly recommended.

Horribly racist staff!<br/>I would give this cafe 0 star if i could. I don't usually post reviews and I generally give people the benefit of doubt and don't dwell on negative experiences, but I almost feel compelled to post today. The staff at this cafe are very racist. Everytime my partner has gone in to get a coffee, the lady at the counter asks him whose order he is here to pick up for uber eats. She basically just assumes that a brown man walking in must be an uber eats worker. If it is a one off thing, it is ok. Today was literally the fourth time she asked him the same question without so much as saying hello. Those are literally the first words out of her mouth. One day he was wearing office clothes as he was doing his morning coffee run, and she said the same thing. What is this pre segregation Alabama? You basically just assume a brown person can't come in and be a regular patron of the cafe? Also the change in demeanor of staff from dealing with a white patron to dealing with us is so so obvious. This is unacceptable. We will never go back again. This is plain humiliating. In the days of covid-19, I want to show compassion and give people the benefit of doubt, but this behaviour has been the same for months and I felt compelled to say something.

This place is always packed on the weekends so we thought we'd try it. The large coffee came in a small cup which in other places is a large mug. While the food was tasty the portions sizes did not match the price we paid for them. I would not go back again as for two people the average was $75 whereas other places we pay $55 for the same thing. The service was not very friendly either.

Mammoth is one of those cafes that just gets everything right and makes you wish you lived in the area so that it could be your local. From the light filled space with it's modern, pastel decor; to the friendly staff who are so sweet and welcoming; Mammoth really is a fun and vibrant place to dine.<br/><br/>The menu has a lot of interesting options and we started with a zesty berry smoothie and some fantastic coffees. This gave us time to look around and enjoy how spacious the cafe is. It was full, so it's evidently quite popular in the area, and all the outdoor tables were full too.<br/><br/>We started with the zucchini fritter, which interestingly came as one big fritter, rather than a stack; and I actually loved this idea. The fritter was perfect, with it's crispy outer crust and soft, yummy filling. Topped with two fried eggs, crispy kale and delicious smoked salmon and lots of cheese; this really was the most amazing fritter that I've had recently. Such a generous portion, completely delicious, and such an elegant looking dish. We couldn't resist a side of haloumi chips, and we were so glad with the decision. Crispy and golden with that tasty, salty cheese... simply divine.<br/><br/>The pancake stack was also fabulous, with two huge fluffy pancakes sandwiched with berry coulis, topped with excellent quality ice cream and heaps of fresh berries. You can taste the freshness and quality in this perfect stack, and again it was a big serve, so perfect for sharing. I loved these pancakes, and they were a fabulous base for all the accompanying flavours.<br/><br/>In a part of Melbourne that has quite a lot of cafes and restaurants, Mammoth has managed to stand the test of time with it's exciting menu, fabulous service and cool vibe. It's popularity is proof that they consistently deliver the goods and have definitely found that winning formula for success.

I ordered off Uber eats this morning because the reviews looked good. Ordered the kale and spinach smoothie but the size was a little disappointing. The cup was a only a little taller than a tea-light holder. The sourdough bread was very tough and either over-toasted or stale. Overall not the best experience. Perhaps the in-house experience is much better. The jam was lovely.

Visited Mammoth last weekend and the weather was nice and sunny so we sat outdoor. On the day we ordered:<br/>- Poke bowl with extra salmon and crispy tofu<br/>- Corn, feta & zucchini fritters<br/>- Coconut and berry buttermilk hotcakes<br/>- OJ w/ carrot juice<br/>- Apple juice<br/>My favourite would be the fritters with the 2 sunny sides up, the fluffy fritter with the crispy kale. The poke bowl was nice, fresh and colourful. The hotcakes looks vibrant with all the berries around the plate. <br/>The cafe is right next to Toorak station and there are plenty of parkings on side street. Would recommend others to visit Mammoth if you’re nearby!

I visited Mammoth last week – greeted by many friendly staff and I was able to pick where to sit. There were indoor and outdoor seatings but I chose to sit outside.<br/><br/>We ordered the Poke Bowl with the Cured Salmon and the Crispy Tofu – this was one of the most amazing poke bowl I’ve ever had! The Salmon was very fresh and the crispy tofu was definitely crispy. Loved the thinly cut cucumber and the generous avocado serving. The brown rice was also cooked perfectly, I honestly couldn’t fault it.<br/><br/>We also ordered the Corn, Feta and Zucchini Fritter and the Coconut and Berry Buttermilk Hotcakes. Both dishes were great dishes. I loved the freshness of the berries with the hotcake. It was light and fluffy and the coconut flavour was quite strong. The fritter had sunny-side eggs on top which made the dish look super pretty. Topped with dried crispy Kale and shaved Parmesan, loved it.<br/><br/>Their apple juice was also very refreshing, but it was a little bit on the sour side. Overall, loved the experience and the food, a must try if you’re near the area.

A delicious brunch in a vibrant cafe with friendly staff and great decor. <br/><br/>We arrived, were offered a drink and seated with some tap water. Our waiter Liam was really chatty and offered his favourite menu options which I really liked. <br/><br/>We ordered <br/>Chai latte<br/>Green smoothie <br/>Poke bowl with crispy tofu<br/>Big breakfast <br/>Chia pudding <br/>Halloumi nuggets <br/><br/>Everything had immaculate presentation and had the flavour to go with it. <br/><br/>I had the big breakfast. I like that it’s not OTT it’s the brunch classics on a plate. You do have an option to add avo and an orange juice for that full Aussie breakfast experience. My eggs were poached perfectly.<br/><br/>The tofu was crispy and the poke toppings were bright and colourful to create a stunning summer feel dish. <br/><br/>The chia pudding wasn’t overly sweet, mixed with coconut yoghurt it just gives a nice creamy taste and texture with the fruit on top to add some sweetness and colour! <br/><br/>All in all a wonderful brunch. <br/><br/>Would go back for sure :)

Good food, extensive menu with plenty of options. Prices aren’t exorbitant and a comfortable place to be. Quite busy.

Mammoth café is a beautiful café, conveniently located next to Toorak Station on Malvern Road in Armadale. The decorum was stunning - although the space was relatively small, they’ve used the space quite well, being able to seat a lot of people. We sat near the back next to the kitchen. They have such an extensive and creative menu, it was incredibly difficult to choose!<br/><br/>We ordered the Green Chicken Salad which came with poached chicken, broccoli, green beans, avocado, mixed leaves, toasted Tamara seeds and a lemon honey dressing. We also had the Poké bowl which was served with avocado, roasted nori, edamame, pickled ginger, black sesame seeds, seaweed salad, brown rice and poached chicken. We also had a side of fried halloumi nuggets and for drinks, we ordered a latté and a chai latté.<br/><br/>The Green Chicken Salad was super healthy and colourful. The avocado was ripe and delicious and the chicken was cooked to perfection. The lemon honey dressing wasn’t too sweet and it was a great addition to the salad. The Poké bowl was also incredible! The eggs were cooked well and all the fresh and fresh ingredients went so beautifully together. Moreover, both coffees were served just the way we liked them and we couldn’t fault them.<br/><br/>We were really taken care of by the team at Mammoth café and we had such an enjoyable experience. The customer service was exceptional.<br/><br/>We can see why this café is always so busy - we can't wait to return.

Lovely little Cafe located near Toorak Station. <br/><br/>We ordered<br/>🍳 Egg Benedict<br/>🥞 Lemon and Buttermilk Pancakes<br/><br/>The eggs Benedict came with an apple cider hollandaise. I was so happy that the taste of the apple wasn’t too overpowering but you can still taste a hint of it.<br/><br/>The pancakes I felt were a bit overpriced for what I got since they were $20. Also didn’t taste much lemon. It was a little heavy towards the end. Personally I felt that it would be nice if they split the 2 pancakes into 3, it would make the dish better and have more height to it, but taste wise it’s not bad.

Came in on a sunny Sunday. Very nice food and coffee. Really enjoyed it! And also, fancy and cool staff team.😊😊😊

Just as Melbourne has become known for its coffee, it seems every suburb is now boasting of wonderful cafes. The posh neighbourhood of Armadale with its designer shops and equally designer clad clientele, would be no exception. Mammoth was opened by husband and wife duo Loren and Jamie McBride in 2015. With café success already under their belt (touchwood, Barry and Pillar of Salt) it is no surprise that this new south-side hang out became the go-to.

Came here to try out and it did not disappoint us. It was full house but was relatively quick to get a table. We ordered to eggs benedict - the ham hock was tasty, potato rosti was the right portion and the apple hollandaise sauce was just nice. The breakfast ramen was not bad either. Noodles were not overcooked, and the bacon was tasty but the chicken dashi broth was a bit on the salty side. The poke bowl was also nice. Every ingredient in a small portion and covered the whole bowl and the flavours all mixed well together. The coffee was pretty good as well. Overall, we enjoyed the visit today!

I had previously visited Mammoth in 2017 so was very happy to be asked to come and try the menu again earlier this week! I love the corner spot location of Mammoth, just a stones throw away from the Torah Train Station and very close to public transport and the main drag of Malvern Road. The cafe is modern, bright, beautifully decorated as you enter and has a lovely air about it as you are directed towards the front counter almost immediately and greeted with the staff who were lovely and very helpful. It was early(ish) morning about 8.30am when I arrived midweek and I was surprised at the number of people there which is an indicator of its popularity later in the week/weekend. <br/><br/>We were quickly seated and got an explanation of standout/popular dishes and recommendations from our server. She brought over the batch brew with its tasting notes card for us to read - this was delicious and served in a big mug! I was in coffee heaven! As for the menu, I loved the variety of dishes as well as how brekkie/brunch staples had their own Mammoth twist - like the dukkah crumbed egg (their version of a Scotch egg) which comes with their version of Smashed Avo with a Middle Eastern twist. I ended up ordering this dish as it was too hard to resist trying it from the description however I opted to do gluten free and have poached eggs instead. Other items ordered were the Benedict, Haloumi Nuggets (after the server insisted they were to die for) and some sides (spinach/mushrooms). <br/><br/>We didn't wait too long for our food which was plated beautifully - I loved the colours of the dishes - it made me excited to eat! Sides were also of a decent portion so I was impressed. My Smashed Avo was delicious - I was very happy and the flavours worked very well together. The Benedict was also well balanced and just the right portion. The Haloumi Nuggets were crunchy and gooey in the centre, paired with a spritz of lemon and you're laughing. <br/><br/>Overall had a great time at Mammoth - food and coffee were divine. I'd highly recommend it.

Not too shabby for my second corn fritter ever but kinda undermining 🤔<br/><br/>FOOD: I ordered the corn, zucchini and feta fritter. When I saw it on the menu, it sounded divine and it came pretty fast. The star of the show for me was... the kale! I’m not even joking! I have never had kale be cooked so deliciously so I have to give them MAJOR props to them because it tasted amazing! The eggs were a great addition to the fritter but the fritter was unfortunately, pretty underwhelming. The portion was fair but I tasted no feta 🤷🏻‍♀️ It was mostly corn and just some peppery batter. It was pretty good but just don’t expect the most feta-y flavour. The kale was HEAVENLY tho! <br/><br/>SERVICE: Service was friendly and quick! <br/><br/>Overall, Mammoth is a pretty good cafe and considering I went on a Tuesday afternoon and it was fully packed, it says alot. The food was not too bad and I’m hoping to come back to try their Lemon Hotcakes next time!
FOOD TRIP
Mammoth is a beautiful corner cafe along Malvern Road. The interiors have recently been refurbished and look beautiful. Love the additional greenery and the artwork. Food is delicious and coffees are very satisfying. Would definitely recommend!. Latte $4.20 and Freshly Squeezed Orange Juice with Ginger $9

Had brunch at Mammoth on a Sunday and we were seated immediately. Right off the bat it’s pretty obvious that Mammoth’s a neighbourhood café with the crowd being locals. It’s aesthetically-pleasing with white interiors and brightly-lit with natural light. <br/><br/>We got the Soy Chai, Breakfast Ramen and Hotcakes. Everything was delicious. Really appreciated that the soy chai was not overly sweet. Breakfast Ramen was our favourite! Would’ve loved the hotcakes more if they were warm when served. <br/><br/>Service was great where we were given ample time to chat over coffee after finishing up our food.
Good Food Good Mood
We were invited to Mammoth today which has had a change of ownership and refurb, the one thing hasn’t changed is that it is still hugely popular. I began with a delicious PB&J smoothie as I perused the menu.<br/><br/>I was told the apple crumbled porridge was a popular choice and the smashed avo was recommend so opted for both of those. The avo dish was fairly unique, quite middle eastern inspired and had a lot going on with lemon labneh, dukkah and crispy chickpeas. I thoroughly appreciate that I was given a proper knife to eat this. So many times I’m trying to saw through sourdough with a butter knife which makes it really unpleasant.<br/><br/>The porridge was lovely and warming and essentially the sin free way to enjoy an apple crumble dessert. Hubs opted for his default chilli scrambled with mushrooms and also tried the halloumi nuggets which I’m told were very satisfying. Overall a very tasty brunch <br/><br/>Original review<br/>One of the most delicious brunch offerings in Melbourne. There's always something new and enticing on the menu which are both delicious and beautifully presented. Generally busy on the weekend and popular with the yummy mummy set of Armadale during the week so be prepared to wait but it's absolutely worth it to try something different and creative. The only thing I can fault are the filthy menus

Great cafe, excellent coffee. Food was fresh and vibrant. I had their avocado dukkah with a side of the halloumi nuggets. Can highly recommend both.

Mammoth is a lovely cafe in the quiet part of the neighbourhood. Unfortunately it’s not a kept secret as we had to wait almost 30mins for a table, but the wait staff was kind enough to reward us with free coffees for our patience. The food was average only but loved the ambience and the friendly service.

This place is fabulous. Great coffee, great service and eggs benedict that is as good as you’ll find anywhere. The guys are friendly and the vibe is fantastic.

We’d heard great things about Mammoth and it did not disappoint. Great food (5 stars for the Chia Pudding), nice atmosphere, amazing coffee and attentive staff.

Mammoth is such a gorgeous cafe right next to Toorak Station. The building itself is on a narrow corner so has a flatiron shape which is really cute and it’s so warm and welcoming inside. As it was a sunny (but cold) day we sat outside (plenty of small and big tables so very pup friendly!) and were very grateful for the blankets available to snuggle into.<br/><br/>Their modern brunch menu is so inventive and interesting with so many unique dishes and twists we wanted to try. We finally chose:<br/>🍜 Breakfast Ramen with thick cut bacon, chicken dashi broth, egg noodles, soft boiled egg, bean sprouts, coriander and mint ($23 with $2 fermented chilli) <br/>🥑 Avocado Dukkah Toast with a dukkah crumbed egg on smashed avo, crispy chickpeas, cucumber, lemon labneh, fermented chilli, cherry tomatoes and coriander on sourdough toast ($21)<br/>🍏 Apple Crumble Porridge with cinnamon spiced apples, pecan crumble and yoghurt ($16)<br/>🧀 side of Fried Halloumi Nuggets <br/><br/>All of the dishes were exceptional, interesting and full of flavour. I especially loved the breakfast ramen which was perfect on a cold day and the broth was so flavoursome and absolutely loaded with chunky thick cut bacon and perfectly chewy noodles. Also obsessed with the apple crumble porridge which is just the best flavour and loved the textures of soft oats, firm apple and crunchy pecan crumble - I could definitely eat this every day! The fried haloumi nuggets were such a yum savoury bite as well and loved the fresh vibrant flavours of the avo toast.<br/><br/>All in all an outstanding brunch and would definitely return to try more of their amazing menu!

🥑 poké bowl<br/>🍜 breakfast ramen<br/>🍓 superfood chia pudding<br/>🏚: Mammoth Cafe<br/>📍: Toorak, Melbourne<br/>.<br/>————————————————————<br/>.<br/>📝: Tucked into a stand-out building on the corner of Malvern Road and Beatty Avenue, Mammoth serves up totally innovative and creative range of menus.<br/><br/>The space that is super bright and airy, decorated with blue steel and brown leather stools, American-oak surfaces and a pastel blue terrazzo tiled floor.<br/><br/>The cafe’s brightly lit with natural light coming in from every direction, making the white space more modern and minimal, yet slightly warmed by the oak furnitures.<br/><br/>❤️: With a great selection of creative dishes, we opted for three totally different dishes in order to sample a range. And they were all delicious in their own way.<br/><br/>My favorite was this colorful, vibrant Poké Bowl. Seaweed salad, avocado, roasted bori, edamame, kewpie, pickled ginger, black sesame seeds, sriracha mayo, fermented chili, served on brown rice with cured salmon and oozy poached eggs.<br/><br/>Another great classic brunch alternative is the Breakfast Ramen. Such a decadent broth (even better with chili jam), topped with half boiled eggs and bacon. Just perfect for winter.<br/><br/>Chia Pudding came with coconut, agave, lime, toasted seeds and almonds topped with seasonal fruits. Creamy and not too sweet.<br/><br/>Thank you @bigmelbappetite for bringing me on this fun and amazing brunch!<br/>————————————————————<br/>.<br/>.<br/>.<br/>#instafood #foodstagram #foodporn #food #eat #hungry #starving #foodie #yum #yummy #delicious #cafe #breakfast #sunday #weekend #japanesefood#healthyeating #melbourne #australia #coffee #fit #brunch #pokebowl #sweettooth #dessert #morning #sweet #healthyfood #lunch #ramen

I love Mammoth Café. Food was awesome (can absolutely recommend the chilli scramble), good location, good ambiance, and the staff take genuine pride in the work that they do. Such a perfect spot for brekkie/brunch. It’s a 10/10 from me, gang.
Lizzie Eats Melbourne
😱Lizzie’s first impression: This humble cafe is situated on the corner of a busy street of Armadale. The store looks minimalist yet inviting. The staff are great and they have a great selection of breakfast and lunch options that is different to other places. <br/><br/>🍩Lizzie enjoyed: First off, I’d like to say that the cafe is shaped like the flat iron building and so the entrance is through the tip/corner. <br/><br/>I tried the Corn, Feta and Zucchini fritter with smoked salmon on top and the presentation was absolutely spot on! The fritter was soft yet had me coming back for more bites every time. The eggs were cooked perfectly on top and was the perfect finishing touch to the dish. I loved the flavours especially with the deep fried kale. <br/><br/>Next was the Avocado Dukkah on toast - I personally do not like avocado but I couldn’t resist when I saw Dukkah crumbed eggs. To my surprise, this dish turned out to be delicious - I loved the tangy flavour from the lemon that cut through the eggs and avacado (almost like guacamole) and ended with a nicely toasted piece of sourdough that was buttered to my liking. The dish was done so well and it looked superb. <br/>Last but not least, the hotcakes with strawberries and cream. It was simple yet delicious. The pancakes were so soft and I loved how the whipped cream wasn’t as sweet to give the pancakes another texture along with the caramelised strawberries in a sugar syrup. They even topped it with some roasted walnuts that complemented the dish so well with its crunchy texture and savoury flavour. So clever! <br/><br/>🍅Lizzie did not enjoy: N/A. <br/><br/>🥇Lizzie rates overall: I loved this cafe so much and I can’t wait to go back to try out more dishes. Ambience was great and wasn't too noisy or busy on a Saturday, staff are really lovely also. A Must try in this area - another top brunch spot in my books!
Quince And Cheese
I've yet to eat *real* food at this pretty High Street cafe, but I can vouch for the cake and coffee. It's not the most reasonable cafe around but the quality is there to back up the higher than average South-side prices.

Wow!! Mammoth is such a cool place! I love the décor so much! Nic, Ryan and the team looked after us so well. <br/><br/>I tried an Oat Mylk flatty which was yum!! The PB smoothie was amazing too, definitely recommend. <br/><br/>As it was a warmer day, I ordered the Chia Pudding. So beautifully presented and the flavour was great!! Enjoyed it very much. <br/><br/>I'm definitely keen to go back and try some more yummy vegan options at Mammoth!

Mammoth cafe is located on a quiet suburban street. Perfect cafe to stop by with friends and family. Our favourite was the lemon and buttermilk hotcakes topped with whipped ricotta 🥞 the hotcakes wasn't super sweet yet decadent. So good🤤!

Came here for brunch on Sunday. The cafe is really cute and cozy. They were pretty busy. We started with OJ and green smoothie. The smoothie tasted so good. Very unique and yum. Then we had 3 dishes, Avocado Dukkah Toast ,corn Feta and Zucchini Fritter and poke Bowl. They all were every flavourful. We really like them.

Mammoth cafe is such a lovely corner spot located in Armadale right next to Toorak station.<br/><br/>For food, I ordered their poke bowl, avocado dukkah roast & apple crumble porridge.<br/><br/>The poke bowl had a generous amount of salmon and I loved everything in it, especially when you mix everything together in their sriracha mayo!<br/><br/>The highlight of my visit was definitely the apple crumble porridge. It literally tasted like an apple crumble! Loved the pieces of apples inside as well. The crumble on top added such a nice crunch and texture to the porridge. <br/><br/>For drinks, I had their coffee by Inglewood and a peanut butter smoothie.<br/><br/>I loved the peanut butter smoothie! The best part was the fact that they use OAT MILK!! It overall added an extra nuttiness to the smoothie.<br/><br/>Service was really great too, they were really friendly!

Delicious food. Very friendly staff who accommodated me as well as offered me newspapers etc... Menu has a great variety. I chose the hot cakes which were delicious. Fluffy, not overly sweet and the ricotta and strawberry topping was delicious. Coffee was also of a very high standard and the service was very quick. Highly recommend.

Absolutely amazing venue and brunch menu. I can’t fault anything on the menu. I absolutely love the poke bowl and the pancakes on the menu - those would be my faves! Great coffee and lovely decor, plants and art on the walls. Worth the travel to Armadale!

Great vibes and cute cafe! We visited on a beautiful sunny day and sat outside. We loved the range of breakfast and brunch dishes on the menu. <br/><br/>What we had:<br/><br/>Poke Bowl: We loved this bowl! It had the perfect balance of flavours and the extra poached egg topped it off. We had the cured salmon as you have choice between salmon or poached chicken which gives you great options.<br/><br/>Eggs Benedict: We were drawn to the giant potato rosti on this dished topped with slow cooked pulled ham hock it couldn't be any better. <br/><br/>For the sweet treat we had their delicious bircher muesli! it was so delicious and healthy!<br/><br/>Thank you for having us for the whole afternoon!Loved it!

A newly opened cafe in Toorak, Mammoth is already bustling with locals thanks to the simple yet creative, seasonal menu coupled with spot on execution that’s made for a thoroughly delicious brunch fair.

Cute place with great ambiance and vibes ! The chilli scrambled eggs were lovely, I had the poke bowl but I found it to be too salty on the sauce with a lot of rice and not as much substance, so the value for money wasn’t quite there for me. Service was great though :)

We had a great experience at Mammoth Cafe. The coffee was amazing, strong and smooth. We tried the Poke bowl, Dukkah toast and Mango Bircher muesli; they were delicious with the poke bowl being my favourite (the mayo was heaven) I love how the crusted egg was perfectly cooked as well. The mango was presented beautifully on the bircher; one of the prettiest bircher I’ve ever had. It was warming and delicious. I couldn’t fault this place with service being top notch. Thanks for having us! X

Brilliant cafe that was taken over by new owners a few months ago who are working to bring trendy and delicious dishes! The interior is very modern and minimalist which I love! Food was amazing, especially the chicken salad which would have to be a favourite!

Since taking over the ownership of Mammoth cafe in Armadale, owners/brothers Nicholas and Zac Beerens have injected a new lease of life into this cosy neighbourhood cafe.  Together with their talented Head Chef Josh Mills, they provide more than just quality coffee by Inglewood Coffee Roaster and delicious food, but also a memorable cafe experience delivered by their very friendly team.

Great food and atmosphere nestled away in leafy Melbourne suburbs. They make a mean fritter and coffee. Friendly staff and good coffee makes for a great way to start your day.

Gorgeous little cafe, the food is superb, I’ve never been disappointed. Can recommend the fritters - they are fresh and flavoursome, the chilli scram was beautiful too. The only reason I didn’t give 5 star is due to the 10% surcharge on a weekend, I haven’t never seen a “weekend surcharge” and thought it was quite cheeky.

This place has to have the coolest interior for a cafe; it’s such a fun and vibrant atmosphere! The chilli scrambled eggs were so creamy and fluffy although a bit heavy on the butter/oil on the toast 😳

I went to there for tea time with my children after lunch. The clean interior looked very nice. Next time I'll come for brunch with the kids.Friendly staff

Friendly staff, good breakfast options, nice decor although nothing really stand out. Some places just hit you with a weave of energy, or with a specific smell, or sound. This place doesn’t and it presents itself as pretty neutral. There is nothing bad with it, everything is quite good actually just there is nothing drawing me to come back...

Would recommend booking on the weekends, you’ll be waiting awhile but worth the wait 🙌🏽 <br/>Healthy menu, good food and great coffee, <br/>a little to noisy but did go on a Sunday morning. <br/>Might try during the week <br/>Friendly staff <br/>Overall good experience

Only been here for coffee, and the seven seeds beans live up to their reputation! Great stuff! The place looks packed on weekends so be prepared to wait

Smashed avo on toast was great. Kudos to the chef and management for allowing customers to substitute eggs with mushrooms and other sides.<br/>Almond matcha was below average, too frothy and airy without much flavour.<br/>Service was very friendly.<br/>

A lovely space with some really good food and coffee. Prices are higher than normal but It is in keeping with the area I imagine costs are higher there too. If I lived nearby It would definitely be my local!

Mammoth + Uber = 🤗👍 our Mammoth breakfast arrived quickly. Chilli scrambled eggs on an amazing slab of rye toast was the best way to start my day. Fried eggs and coffees had cooled slightly, but that’s the Uber-Brekkie trade off. Having not visited, on taste and food quality alone...great stuff!

Good things first: I had the weekly special with roasted cauliflower that was awesome. Unfortunately the coffee was bitter - what a shame - as this bright cafe would have great potential.

Came here today for second time. First time was around 2 years ago when it first opened. Had lobster donut at that time so when we came here today was planning to order that. Was disappointed to know it's no longer on the menu. So we decided to have chilli chicken and chilli omelette instead.<br/>The chilli chicken came with red rice (which totally surprised me at how good it is!). Crunchy element from the rice balanced with gooey poached egg cooked in chicken fat, and crunchy shallot balanced with chicken salsa that's bursting with flavour. The omelette was outstanding too. <br/>Totally recommend for late lunch as the crowd dies down towards this hour.

A great cafe to visit for a spot of brunch without having to go into the CBD and easy parking...like!<br/><br/>SERVICE: 4/5<br/>Service was quick and friendly enough. They took care in ensuring the order was correct and double-checked anything we asked about the menu that they weren't sure of. Appreciate their ease in taking bookings over weekends which is getting more rare nowadays.<br/><br/>Although the tables were getting quite full, we didn't feel rushed to finish and leave.<br/><br/>FOOD: 3.5/5<br/>Overall decent selection of menu items with a focus on healthier brunch options. My critique is the price point, a little steeper than competitors even in the CBD and although enjoyable enough, people may feel they don't get value.<br/><br/>Herb and goat's cheese omelette with fried potato ($19): I hear this is the more generous-sized offering and I would say if any smaller, I wouldn't have been as pleased. The omelette itself was moist and fluffy with the perfect amount of goat's cheese and spring onion sprinkled on top. The "herb" component was mint and what seemed more like small salad leaves piled on top. The dish definitely needed the mint however some other micro herbs would've worked better than the salad leaves. The crispy potato pieces were the perfect accompaniment and gave the texture it needed.<br/><br/>Pineapple and coconut doughnut ($5): It looked great in the window and on paper but the taste wasn't as standout to make the calories worthwhile. It was quite moist and pillowy so potentially may be better in a different flavour.<br/><br/>Raw salmon poke bowl: I didn't get to eat this but the bowl looks amazing and comes with sauces. My friends regularly have this and love it. I will be back to try this one day.<br/><br/>Carrot cake with cream cheese frosting & peanut butter brownie: definitely tastes better than it looked. Appeared to be a little dry but both were so moist and flavourfull. Perfect with a cuppa and chit chat!<br/><br/>Unexpectedly I didn't enjoy my picollo coffee as much. It wasn't very smooth but rather bitter. My friend had the matcha latte which she said had clumps of powder still. The soy lattes are apparently much more enjoyable.<br/><br/>DECOR & AMBIENCE: 3.5/5<br/>An all-white interior and exterior. Felt light and bright walking in with the counter and pastry display as the first thing you see. Split level flows through to kitchen and dining. We had a warm sunny table towards back near the windows and it was perfect to spend our girl's catch-up over the next few hours.<br/><br/>The outdoor seats on the pavement are very European and super cute, especially if you have fur babies with you.<br/><br/>KID FRIENDLY: Yes, doable.

This is my go to brunch place, delicious food, great coffee (and they have Bon Soy milk) and you can book! Wooohoo! I'm so over places where you have to line up, here at Mammoth you get the full shabang with extra bells and whistles. My favourite dish is the salmon and brown rice poke bowl! So much flavour without the brunch guilt! A great local with great service next to train station!

This place is the cutest little cafe.  Staff are ALWAYS smiling and friendly.  Food is always on point. I come here once a week at least and it's always good.  The menu has changed quite a bit and is a lot simpler which I don't mind, it's food you can eat more regularly. However the avocado dish hasn't changed which I am very thankful for as it's definitely the best I've ever had.<br/>Seven Seeds coffee is always a winner too.
Lily
Fantastic and healthy selection of dishes for breakfast. The best hollandaise sauce I've had (with eggs benedict) in a long time!! 😍😍<br/>Just a Minor negative - need something new on the menu/update their menu.

Great food with great taste , lovely and friendly staffs and very warm and cosy environment . The food delivery was quick and the presentation was quite nice . Would definitely go back there again .
Cards And Cafes
Welcome to Cards and Cafés and I hope you are ready to come along on a food adventure with us. Mammoth is located along Malvern Road in Armadale. With plenty of street parking long Beatty Avenue, I’m sure you’ll find parking stress free. If you prefer to take public transport, Toorak train station is basically next to the cafe......

Arrived just before 11am and got a table for three after roughly 10-15 minutes. Parking was <br/>easily found along the street and side streets which had no limit on a Sunday.<br/><br/>>> Interior<br/>~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~<br/>The cafe itself is small in size with a counter right at the front to one side which is filled with baked goods. Along the front is a few seats for waiting.<br/> We were seated at a table which seated 6-7 people but was used like a shared communal table where we table shared with another table. This was a little uncomfortable as the table was small and was right next to a window which had no blinds (there was direct sunlight in my eyes for majority of my time there).<br/><br/>>> Service<br/>~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~<br/>Service wise, everyone was attentive and prompt. Glasses of water were filled whenever they were empty and food came out in a timely manner.<br/><br/>>> Food/Drinks<br/>~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~<br/>The all day menu had a good variety of dishes to suit most preferences. All the dishes were delicious and well executed. From the beautifully presented corn and zucchini fritters to the poke bowl to the sweet and warm broth in the breakfast ramen. And while all the dishes were delicious, I found the price to be a little steep for the poke bowl and breakfast ramen (hence a slightly lower rating).<br/><br/>For dessert we shared two doughnuts (salted caramel and chocolate and raspberry) and a banana and chocolate cake which were both delicious!<br/><br/>>> Dishes that make up this review<br/>~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~<br/>Raw salmon, brown rice, avocado, seaweed salad, toasted nori and spiced kewpie ($22)<br/><br/>Corn and zucchini fritters, fried egg, kale, feta ($18)<br/><br/>Breakfast ramen with mushroom broth, kaiserfleich, herbs and egg ($23)<br/><br/>Doughnuts ($5)<br/><br/>Banana and chocolate cake ($7)<br/><br/>Mocha ($4.20)<br/><br/> <br/><br/>Follow me on Instagram for more photos: @fo0die (with a zero)

Coffee and service was really good, our glasses of water were never empty. <br/>The food was tasty, but servings were small and at such prices, value for money wasn't great. I had the omelette with goats cheese and herbs, yet the only herb I found was dill... <br/>Some range on the menu but not much really stood out from the others. Would come back for coffee and cake/pastry, but not in a hurry to do so...

DO: Any of the regular breakfast items but my fav is/was green chilli eggs and bacon. <br/><br/>DON'T: Overstuff yourself. So many baked items on the counter that looked delicious and tasted even better. <br/><br/>TIP: Place is a bit small and very popular so be prepared to wait or sit outside.

Disappointing... nothing special or appealing on the recently changed menu, hence it becomes highly overpriced for food they are offering now.<br/><br/>Environment: 4<br/>Service: 5<br/>Taste: 1<br/>

> Breakky bao with a fried egg, special sauce & a chunky short rib bacon slice and Poke bowl with fresh tuna, brown rice, edamame, avocado, seaweed, pickled ginger & miso dressing <<br/><br/>Here's a pic of two yummy dishes we demolished back in February! We couldn't resist the healthy dishes especially because the presentation is so beautiful 🌈 mammoth is one of our go to places but it's always impossible to get a table as it is so yummy! The coffee is also very well made as it is not too bitter nor too watery. Definitely a place to put on the bucket list if you're one to try every cafe in Melbourne! ❤️<br/>The breakfastpiggy team

I have never had a bad experience at this fantastic cafe. In fact each experience is better than the last. The food is consistently good, the coffee is always spot on & the service is friendly & efficient.

Cute place on the corner with scandi inspired decor. As far as breakfast menus go Mammoth's would fit into the 'trendy' category. Very interesting things to pick from with a few regulars in between. All was cooked well, didn't have to wait long.

I only come for one thing in summer - The Hulk which is a green smoothie with kale and coconut juice and it's fantastic. Only wished if there was more!
Yummy, Yummy, Yummy, I've Got Bugs In My Tummy
Breakfast ramen came in a tasty broth and a generous slice of kaiserfleisch. Smoked trout omelette was also good according to a friend who ordered it. But the breakfast bao was somewhat disappointing when compared to the ramen and omelette - maybe order it if you are just after something light. Coffee was decent. Wait staff was also attentive, even though we were seated outside. Wouldn't mind coming back again.

Amazing place for a week day lunch. Service was great and the food was sensational. The cafe is close to Toorak station so it's extremely easy to get to. The iced latte was good but just a tad small. Recommend the Poke bowl!

Headed down for a lunch. <br/>• The Wagu Burger was very tasty, and <br/>• The green salad options are sensational, clean and filling. <br/>• The coffee is great also. 🍔☕️👍🏽

Had the most unique and delicious eggs benedict ! Great coffee and lovely service . The staff are very polite and attentive ! Would recommend this place to anyone who wants a nice breakfast away from the busy city .

The menu looked overworked and unappealing when this uber popular cafe opened and the footpath was awash with hopefuls. It's been rejigged and now contains the usual with a twist of unpredictably. The brekky ramen was a cracker dish. Fragrant broth, crunchy herbs, comforting ramen and keiserfleish to die for. Thank you.

A busy Chapel Street saw us look for brunch on commercial Road where we found mammoth. Very cool looking cafe. I understand they were very busy probably the reason for this service lacking a little but the coffee and food was very nice.

One of the better breakfasts going around. Went over the New Year to ensure I could get a seat as this place is pumping every time I drive past. Seems to be with good reason, the breakfast and coffee were awesome. Had an omelette with hot smoked trout, an amazing sweet green sauce with house pickled onions, radish and herbs with two fried potato skins! Would eat this meal every week if I had the chance. Apologies for the picture I had grease all over my phone from fish and chips the night before :)

Water flavoured lightly with a teabag does not fulfil a request for a pot of tea - as a bare minimum let people make tea to the strength of their choice. Preferably with leaves but if you must use a teabag at least leave the tea bag! Noisy. Unwelcoming. Never again.

Stumbled across this place on a hunger fuelled walk driven by a stinking hangover in search of sustenance. I was very happy with my find! To start I had a very decent chai latte. Also had The Avo on toast which was fresh and tasty and the pumpkin seed hummus added a different but tasty flavour. Also had a side of bacon for the hangover, wasn't blown away by the bacon to be honest. To finish I had a muffin which was also good. The room itself was bright and airy. Would definitely recommend and will be back 👍

My partner and I came here a while ago expecting it to be so good. After a wait outside in the rain, we were seated in a very badly designed communal table full of loud customers (we were seated on the corner of the table so we were closer to the other couples than we were to each other! Service was poor. <br/><br/>But the really terrible thing was the toilets, I went before my meal and I have seriously never smelled anything so disgusting (not an exaggeration...) Could not eat my meal afterwards.  I believe the meal tasted okay but I hope they have fixed their toilet situation by now...

AMAZING EVERYTHING. Seriously professional and lovely service, food is not only interesting but still genuinely YUM. Love the whole setting and great little desserts as well. 💖

They’ve done it again. The team behind Barry, Touchwood and Pillar of Salt have opened yet another power house cafe to add to their collection. True to its name, Mammoth offers a food menu that is packed with a mammoth array of strong, slightly left-field dishes combined with some quality speciality coffee.
Greg
Really nice ambience and staff, but coffee underwhelming.  Mammoth Cafe looks very cute outside and in. The owners have done an excellent job building an ambience. It is a very inviting, open and airy. The staff were also excellent, pleasant and attentive. The muffins on the counter as you enter looked gourmet. However, we only went for coffees and this was a big let down. The coffees were very ordinary. We had cafe lattes and a short macchiato. All were quite ordinary, especially on Melbourne's standards. There just didn't seem to be a passion for a coffee experience. As a consequence, we will not return. There are too many Melbourne cafes that can provide ambience AND great coffee.
Jake
Came here with a friend this morning and was very impressed. We both ordered lattes and the potato rosti with the feta salad. The potato rosti was crunchy on the outside with delicious sweet potato inside. The coffees were strong and came out quickly.<br/><br/>Great high ceilings and decor. Nice ambience in the cafe and it was buzzing with customers on a cold Sunday morning. Service was great - very friendly and helpful waiter who explained the dishes to us and was attentive without being overbearing. He even came out with a cloth and wiped a table dry for us. Good coffee, good service, and good food.

In Short: Stunning coffee, adventurous and delicious take on brunch, friendly service. Tip: Take a weekday off and chill here. <br/><br/>In 2 days in Melbourne, we saw the sun for about at an hour at sunset. For the rest of the time it mostly rained and blew a gale, but we expected it when visiting Melbourne. You know what though? We still fell a little more in love with the city. Cafes like Mammoth increased our amorous feelings for the 2nd largest city in the country. Located in Armadale, Mammoth is spacious and is filled with light. White washed walls are broken up with splashes of blue and the warm tones of the cabinetry. Even on a Friday morning every table is occupied. It never gets too loud in this triangular structure, with a nice atmosphere to refuge us from the four seasons of weather sweeping over the city.

Mate. The winter menu- was UNbelievable. That bloody schnitzel burger with cucumber jam, coriander and a spicy mayo? Off the chain. One of the best dishes I have had. When I brought my friends back to enjoy the ecstasy I'd had 3 weeks prior- it's GONE. <br/><br/>Mammoth get a grip. You can't just change the menu like that. This new menu ( as I experienced twice now; is shite). The eggs benedict is like someone got stoned and shoved random ingredients together. Those green olives DO NOT belong.<br/><br/>Update: 16/3/19<br/>I can’t even hear myself think. It’s so loud and the acoustics are horrible. You’ve gotta scream at the person next to you to get a convo in.
Gareth
The new menu sucks. The menu that had, until recently, existed from day one of this cafe was original and consisted mostly of dishes with interesting ingredients and creative combinations (The North Shore was one of the most incredible dishes I've had at a cafe). It appears as if the new menu was copied and pasted straight from any other generic Melbourne cafe. Give this place a miss until they come to their wits and and realise that the menu change was a horrible idea.
Suguro Jiro
Something is seriously wrong here. Had lunch at Mammoth last week and it was like something out of the twilight zone. The entire menu has changed and not in a good way. It's not just a new and updated menu- it's a different level of food- a much lower and very unimpressive level of food. Like something you'd find at a cafe in the suburbs.... 20 years ago. Even the staff seems different. I can't believe it's the same restaurant that I've visited regularly over the last year. Amazed.

Saturday brunch - I was super excited to give this café a visit after a few recommendations. It was quite busy as expected, we waited about 15-20 mins for a table of three. <br/><br/>I ordered the potato rosti, I was slightly disappointed the portion of the rosti as it was barely bigger than my palm. The salad was quite nice but there was more green on my plate than potato which should have been the star of the dish. The rosti I found a bit dry, the poached egg didn't really help.<br/><br/>My friends chilli egg wasn't that spicy and was a bit of a let down. We also ordered the omelette which was actually quite nice but we found a few bones in the salmon so we were super careful not to accidently eat any.<br/><br/>The staff are friendly and I'll admit the food came out extremely fast (maybe 15 - 20 mins) after ordering. It was quite busy so I am pretty impressed. Overall, average cafe.

<br/>Food 1.5 - hit & missed? The burger was delicious but the chicken salad was quite average ... house-baked muffins are yummy here! Soft & moist 😋 ... golden & matcha lattes were well done! 👍🏻 <br/><br/>Decors & atmosphere 1 - hipster kind of cafe <br/><br/>Service 1.5 - lovely! 😊

Was recommend so decided to try it on a Friday morning predicably the pushers and beautiful people adorned the place tables tiny and awkward.<br/><br/>Our waiter was way over the top<br/>Should be working in the bank badgering pensioners into unnecessary insurance policies.<br/>The porridge dialogue was weird and after separate conversations on the topic it was getting...<br/>u guessed it weird<br/><br/>I had my usual poached on dourdough with mushrooms which i didnt like they were drowned in some lemon infused oil and slimy.<br/>Toast way way too thick.<br/><br/>Coffee looked amazing but luke warm <br/>My partner asked abt pressed coffee which was greeted with some drivel until he ordered it.<br/>Was suddenly unavailable...again weird.<br/><br/>Would i return ??<br/>No.
Hello. Imnikki
I tried visiting Mammoth when it first opened some time ago and was greeted with queues snaking out of the door. Nope, not gonna queue for a table. Few months down the track and on a cold weekday afternoon, I came back to finally find out what I had missed. Apparently quite a lot since they change their menu every season. The spring menu offers much more lighter and healthier choices to help you detox your body in time for summer. A bit sad since I missed out on the Golden Gaytime Panna Cotta. Fortunately that meant I had the pleasure of enjoying their take on the traditional eggs benny. Served on a flat bread topped with mortadella, pickled onions and olives and slathered with tomato sauce, it looked like a distant cousin of a pizza. Beautiful and fresh flavours all combined together on the perfectly crispy flat bread, I'm not sure I want to go back to a traditional egg benny. My partner's green chilli eggs and thick cut bacon also showcased the chef's ability in allowing the natural flavours of simple ingredients to shine through. Only complaint was he wanted more bacon. But then again, he is always asking for more bacon. For once, we were in agreement that the quality justified the price. Same goes for the coffee, our skinny lattes had a sweet biscuity flavour and goes down smoothly on our palate. Visiting at a quiet time also meant that we were at the end of extremely attentive service and that we could slowly savour our meals in such a beautiful environment.

This is the second time coming to the cafe. The first time was back when the cafe had just opened. I was surprised that the menu was completely different from last time.<br/><br/>I ordered the apple strudel french toast and cappuccino. The french toast was very different from what I imagined, but in a good way. It was unique and tasted as great as it looked. I usually don't like deep fried dishes; however their deep fried french toast was not oily. It was very crispy and fresh. Every single element on the plate went well with the french toast. I asked them to put the sauce on the side to adjust the sweetness and enjoy it until the end. <br/><br/>Cappuccino was smooth and tasty.<br/><br/>The service was quick but no smile.

I went in on Wednesday on a whim with a friend. It's clean and modern but a bit rustic,  look was great. We ordered the Ramen and the Doughnut burger after way too much deliberation. While we were waiting for service we noticed a meal being delivered to another table which looked pretty terrific, not long after a taster arrived at our table! The doughnut was superb, light and fluffy with chicken katsu, cucumber jam, pickled daikon and lettuce. My friend was more than happy with the Ramen, said the broth was the best she's ever had but the pork belly was a bit of a letdown.  We said we were coming back to work our way through the menu only to be told it was changing the next day!<br/>I've seen thenew menu and I'm going back,  and back, and back.<br/>Oh, and the coffee is excellent, the service is classy and friendly. Excellent work to the team there!!!

刚换春季菜单第一天,虽然之前朋友推荐的几个菜都已经下架,但是新菜单真的是非常春天的感觉,更加清淡素净,点了french toast 和 poached turmeric chicken salad,这两道很简单的菜都做的非常好吃,细节与平衡感都很到位!<br/>Haven't got chance to try the famous grilled pineapple or ramen yet cause they already changed to spring menu. We ordered french toast and poached turmeric chicken salad, both outstanding. Normally I don't like poached chicken salad cause most of them are quite boring and tasteless. But this one was much better than what I expected, super soft chicken with super tasty dressing and it was super healthy.

Visited mammoth after reading some amazing reviews, but of course I had to try something I hadn't read a review on- Ginger Salmon, black sesame French toast, wasabi Mayo, yuzu caviar, Creme brûlée egg and lemon lime sorbet.<br/><br/>I'm not sure how I feel about this dish. Elements by themselves were good, but all together.. Left an discontent taste in my mouth and heart. Next time I'll try something I've read a review on. 😉

Been here twice now, both times the service was poor and food was nothing special. Very limited gluten free options - or so we were told - and they messed up our order. Overall very disappointed, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone!

Stopped by Mammoth for a late Sunday afternoon lunch and ordered from their all day breakfast menu. I ordered the North Shore. Smokey ham hock hash, flame grilled pineapple with a toffee glaze, tobasco, jalapino pepper croquette with poached eggs. The combination of unusual flavours caught my eye and tempted me. The dish lived-up to its promise with an impressive array of tastes and textures that worked together amazingly.
Frank
Ginger salmon dish was awesome - would definitely go back again for that. But the turmeric egg tasted sweet and sugary so won't try that again. On the way out we bought a cherry custard donut which looked delicious but strangely tasted like Lavendar soap, reminiscent of toilet spray :( Avoid.
Jesse
The venue is cute and the service was really good. Nice coffee to start as well. We ordered the turmeric eggs and the chicken katsu doughnut burger and shared. The menu was really interesting and the wait staff took some time explaining what we ordered. I enjoyed the eggs, the burger not so much, it was a burger with a doughnut as the bun with a few toppings, not overly flavourful or satisfying and came alone on the plate for $20. I would maybe go back to just because the menu was so different.

Nice coffee, nice and genius menu and nice environment! Good for catching up with friends and enjoy beautiful dishes. The coffee is very nice too. It's really worth for money.

Ha! Don't read the reviews here until you've read Mammoth's menu!...<br/>This is no ordinary suburban cafe. Even the breakfast options go beyond what one is usually expecting. And the best part of all is that these artistic and ambitious creations look AND taste magnificent. It's a long time since a cafe made me want to go back again and again to try everything on offer

Went there without planning. It was located near a friend's place and was recommended by him. <br/><br/>And it's quite surprised that it turns out so good. Love the cafe's setting, it's a bit combination of modern and rustic. And the dishes are very creative!!!Had the salmon dish, which serves with Caramel eggs, black sesame cake and lime gelato. What an interesting combination! And all the elements actually go well with each other. You will certainly love the place if you like surprises 😊<br/><br/>Definitely will go back again and try other "interesting" dishes!!!

Chill and relax environment. Foods are 10/10. Creative , and quality dishes. The component in the plate are matching each other. Wonderful. Service is good. Lovely staff. The reason I rated 4.5 instead of 5 out of 5 is because the coffee. Coffee wasn't best.

Donut burger was good. The salt and pepper donut indeed tasted like a donut but didnt feel it was "too much" with the chicken katsu patty. Enjoyed the pickled veg but my only complain was that the chicken katsu was too thin and small, for its price. The hawaiian-ish dish was interesting, especially the jalapeno with stuffed cheese - which i reckon is very subjective to one's tastebuds. The hamhock was good but portion was not enough to satisfy my friend. Grilled pineapple was really sweet, but i felt it was undercooked and didnt have the perfectly caramelised aroma. Had a long black which was too diluted, but it wasnt bad either.

A short review for my first trip as I only had the hotcakes but this place is definitely worth a repeat visit. The dish was perfect for a cold winters day and was not what I was expecting when it came out, a pleasurable surprise. The cake itself, the marshmallow and ice cream all worked, the only thing, and it's a small critique is that the chocolate covered disk/biscuit with cocoa power all over it overpowered the dish a little leaving some of my bites with just a cocoa flavour instead of any of the other flavours. With less cocoa or a tempered chocolate disk or twill of some kind, I think it would add the texture the dish needs without overpowering the wonderful strawberry flavour from the marshmallow or chocolate from the fondant hot cake. Very close to perfect.

Great little addition to Armadale. I was expecting big queues so was pleasantly surprised when I walked right in and got a table for 3 on a Saturday morning.<br/><br/>Service was quick and attentive. I ordered the Avocado Pesto with Black Sourdough and was taken aback when it came in a little clay pot dish and beautifully presented.<br/><br/>It was very tasty and definitely a creative and unique spin on the very popular and exhausted Avocado Smash.<br/><br/>I want to go back and try the Honeycomb Panacotta! Oh, I also got the Salted Caramel donut which was deliciously naughty.

First time visit this place loved it as soon as I arrived <br/>Coffee was absolutely good especially with a perfect latte art. My friend liked her long black she said it's being perfectly extracted. Staff was friendly the most important thing was the food it's like a fine dining they were tasty with a beautiful plating <br/>Will def come back

Consistency 5/5. Coffee 5/5. Food 4.5/5. If there was an award for consistency, Mammoth would win hands down. Multiple visits, every experience top-notch. They would also probably take out the award for most inventive cafe menu that actually hits the mark. These people know flavors. One can almost see the thought that goes into composing each of their offerings as you gaze upon their impeccable presentation to having the different flavors and textures meld in your mouth. I would have rated Mammoth 5/5 if not for two things. One, service can be a little blasé. Two, the avo toast I had on one occasion was surprisingly underwhelming for something that they should have hit out of the ballpark.

Love this cafe from the moment I arrived at the front door. Clean and simple design dominant by white color. My strong capp hit the mark, strong enough but not bitter. Food was made simple but it was still packed of flavour, love its pickled green tomato too. It was clean and delicately presented with love.

The Chef and operator are cetainly on the ball being amongst the top. Upkeeping with the trendy Melbourne breakfast/brunch trade is a very demanding task and they have succeeded. Reservation is essential if you don't like to queue. The menu brags very inovative and alternative food combinations. The ramen noodle dish stood out to be a little too salty for me - I was corrected by my daughter, reminding me that Australian's generally eat saltier. Something that is different to the broad taste in the US and Asia.<br/>A very pleasant Breakfast that really challenged my taste buds - a 55km drive well worth it.
Heidi
Finally got around to ticking mammoth off the list! I was very surprised that they took bookings on the weekend so that made it easy! I started with the golden latte, very creamy and not too overwhelming. I ordered the Eggplant Toast with smoky eggplant, pickled green tomato, coddled eggs,<br/>salt and vinegar artichoke, char sourdough, I also added bacon. It was delicious, I particularly liked the pickled green tomato. We also all shared the breakfast Ramen with smoked bacon and mushroom broth, ramen noodles, 62 degrees egg, kaiserfleisch, fermented chilli oil. Not my first choice for breakfast but it was equally delicious!

Had the signature they say north shore, don't get the idea of unrelated items on the plate, way too sweet thick pineapple, sauceless nuggets.. Well... Friend had brekky ramen, salty and tasteless.

A group of four us, we've tried hotcake, avocado pesto, and the egg with eggplant. Oh can't say enough how delicious they were all. The hot cake was a bit over sweet but I would go back if I crave for sugar and chocolate. The rest were amazing. Oh and donuts are yum both the raspberry and the salted caramel ones.

From Chef to Chef. the best breakfast I had in the last 4 years any where in melbourne. awesome job guys keep it up. I will be back to try some more

Had the lamb ribs and got about 2 mouthfuls of meat out of dish.. Was left starving. Let the girl serving us know and she told me that's just the dish and there's nothing she can do about it. I made it clear I didn't want to pay but she charges us anyway. I shouldn't leave after spending $25 hungry. Appalling customer service. Will not return.

Not a very happy customer as waitress forgot our coffee's, me and my husband ain't coming back here. When a café cannot provide the basics such as serving a coffee, then they need to get out of the biz.

Alright i was told great things about this upbeat cafe but left the joint feeling like Caroline Wilson after Eddie Maguires comments, outraged ! Walked into a hostile joint and was disappointed with the service throughout out the experience. They were rude , ignored us and the food took forever. We had eggs and bacon with avo and the donut burger with a side of halloumi cheese. The halloumi cheese was forgotten and did not show up. The burger was simply wrong! had the slimmest chicken fillet i have ever seen and the bun was way to sweet! they forgot the avocado with the eggs and bacon. When i made a comment about the cheese not showing they were some what apologetic but not enough to satisfy my anger! Disappointing experience !! yes the cafe does not look nice but the food is rubbish and over priced ! not happy !

I had to change my review!! Sorry!! Was so disappointed yesterday!! I was so excited to go to this place because it WAS great! Took some friends whose never been and our experience was average. The food was not as good as before. Green chilli egg was good and tasty but I think it's overpriced. The waiter kept interrupting our table or maybe flirting with my friend, why can't you just put the jug of water on our table instead of hovering around the whole time. Probably won't be back too many other options out there. This place doesn't compete anymore.

really delicious food, quite a filling portion! The meal I had, chia pudding, was great, though became overwhelmingly sweet towards the end. atmosphere is very lively; can sometimes be difficult to conduct conversation due to noise but it's not too bad. Staff were helpful and happy to answer questions :-)

Me and the boyfriend and JS went to explore a new place yesterday so I thought I'll talk a bit more about it today ☺︎. I've been seeing mentions of this cafe in a few of those "must try" lists and they were all talking about the Mammoth's cafe Duck Benedict. So I was intrigued and since JS usually asks me where to go for brunch, I'd thought I'll suggest this place and check out what the hype is all about.

Horrible, had the eggs Benedict and the duck was impossible to cut through, the chewy sort of undercooked feeling. The skin and fat were not crispy or rendered at all though the waitress assured us it is definitely cooked because it was twice cooked. Well if they can't cook it right twice there is actually no point. My partner had the crab omelette and it was equally disappointing. No crab flavour and none of the elements went together. Overpowered by coriander. Disappointed I left hungry!

Very very disappointed. I read the review in the newspaper so trekked across town to eat lunch. Impossible to park anywhere. Finally found a park but street is narrow and very hard to manoeuvre. If you are disabled just forget it. <br/>The restaurant was full with one or two people per table. They could only offer me a stool seat on a bench in the corner by the door (I am unable to sit on a stool I need a seat back) Or I was offered a 'public table' which was a tiny triangular table, smaller than the regular table, with 2 people already sitting there. I explained that It was far too small and I would feel I was intruding sitting so close; and I would have to sit at the point of the triangle with no room to eat. There was a table free but they said it was booked. (Don't bother to go without booking your cafe public seat)<br/>I felt very unwelcome so I left. Very disappointed. Score 0/10. <br/><br/>

Been eating green stuff lately and mammoth has a good vegetarian menu. I ordered the chicken salad and i was pleased with it as it was a 'colourful' plate. The well-cooked chicken and various veggies combined with tasty and refreshing dressing. My friend ordered the egg benedict and it was as delicious as it looks. Definitely gonna come back another time :)

Enjoyed my meal and my coffee at Mammoth! Nice service and atmosphere. It does get busy but if you expect a little wait, then you know what youre in for. Take a friend or magazine and you wont even notice the slight wait for the delicious meal! :) Great job guys

<br/>EDIT VISITED 6/9 and the menu has been overhauled to be more standard and when I say that I'm a bit upset as I loved this place as it was DIFFERENT! Now it's eggs on toast, the usual suspects. <br/><br/>Service is always great here but my prediction is go back to funky food! The crowds changed to old people instead of young and funky which I loved about here as a few doors up at Rouge, Roccoco, Amalia its all the same food now. <br/><br/>Eggs were fine albeit a bit oily and bacon is amazing here - love the coffee and fresh juice too 😍<br/><br/><br/><br/>4/5 - Great new addition to the hood! <br/><br/>Being not so much of a fan of these hip new places going up its a good change from what's usually on offer in the immediate area - different choices and different flavours for a "different" brunch. <br/><br/>Today I came in with my little one and sat around the side outside as who knows what mood he's in so just in case of a meltdown outside is safest. Was like a wind tunnel so in the coming cooler months wear a jacket! <br/><br/>Almond milk coffee was really good. Not bitter and pure quality. We then had bacon on the side as we live for bacon and it was the best bacon we've had in ages. Really top notch. <br/><br/>The ham nuggets were really tasty but way too spicy for a toddler but the coffee sauce was good with it. <br/><br/>Next was a donut burger - chicken Katsu with a sweet jam and lettuce - really tasty. Although a bit big we could finish half the donut but delicious. Your brain thinks sweet and gets hit with pepper and salt. Chicken was all breast and quality. <br/><br/>Our server was friendly and checked a few things for me as being allergic to fish with so many Viet and south East Asian flavours on there better to be safe than epi pen sorry!
TheBearReview
Fantastic menu with truly innovative and creative dishes that looks as good as they taste. I want to give this place 4.5 stars but there are a few really annoying things about this place. <br/>1. The service is ok, you can get forgotten so be prepared to wave the waiters down with a bit more enthusiasm than you might like. They are friendly when you get their attention but they are also too cool to have a banter with you. <br/>2. Be seated by 9am on the weekend or forget it. <br/>3. Don't forget your ear muffs, the acoustics in this place is ridiculous. You won't be having a conversation with your breakfast companion.

Had the mango chia pudding and it was an absolute taste sensation! Not one to usually order chia, I had seen the photos on Zomato and thought it looked incredible. The mango jelly and purée combined with coconut and what appeared to be freeze dried lychees was delectable. My friend had the avocado on toast and also enjoyed that although I think that is a waste of an order at Mammoth given the innovative menu. Only criticism is that the chai is too weak and comes in a cappuccino cup.
Katie
Nice looking venue. The food is great as long as you only want to post photos of it on instagram, not actually eat it. Staff are nice as long as you don't mind never actually getting service.
Pbnj_time
This was a pleasant surprise. The menu looked boring, but the food is definitely not! I had the potato and goats cheese gnocchi, and enjoyed it very much. The gnocchi was pillowy and plump, making every mouthful a delight. Its sauce was perfectly seasoned. <br/><br/>Coffee was nice - I had the filter coffee and was happy with it. <br/><br/>The interior is great - white walls, simple adornments. Good layout of tables and ample space to sit. <br/><br/>Service is friendly and efficient. We came at a busy period, but didn't have to wait too long to be seated. Only issue was our food took a while to come out and I enquired. I hate having to ask, especially when it's a busy restaurant, but the wait time was becoming silly. Other than that, this was a pleasant experience.

Amazing food worth driving across town for is what you’ll find at this deservedly popular Armadale café.  Set on the corner of Malvern Rd and Beatty Ave, Mammoth makes up for it’s compact size with bold, punchy flavors.  Their tag line of “eat mammoth” is well and truly justified.
Foodinfocusz
Light, bright, minimalist and it works really well. It was refreshing to be presented with a menu offering innovative dishes. The food was good and the presentation very impressive. I also noticed a number of dishes coming out of the kitchen and they too looked amazing.

Good coffee (5 senses) - tick!<br/>Good friendly service - tick!<br/>Interesting and creative menu and not just your typical Bircher muesli or bacon+eggs - big tick!<br/><br/>I tried the duck benedict. Whilst the duck breast was nice, I felt like the dish as a whole was off balance. The sauce and accompaniments were all quite sweet, so it was almost like eating dessert with duck breast, and egg and a bit of crispy/dehydrated bacon. It certainly wasn't bad, it was just odd to have such a sweet dish.<br/><br/>Dining companion had the donut burger. Again, it was a strange dish because we are not really used to eating savory donuts.<br/><br/>I'd return to try some of the other interesting dishes.

Had good intentions when walking into this place. Had just finished a workout and didn't want to ruin it by eating unhealthily. This mindset changed of course when I saw the Gaytime pannacotta on the menu...#noregrets

Fresh, light and bright cafe. Very experimental menu with some great flavour combos although we were slightly underwhelmed. Staff were super friendly and attentive and would like to go back sometime to try another couple of the menu options.

I decided to try Mammoth after seeing it pop up in a couple of other food reviews. Got the around 10am on a Saturday & it was quite busy already. There's lots of street parking, so you'll be able to park a very short walk away. <br/><br/>It's an odd shaped cafe, but they use the space well. However, it's quite tight to move when it's crowded, so don't expect to stretch your legs until you leave. It's typically pleasant, with clean colors and lots of windows letting in natural light. The service was great; the staff were not obnoxious & it was easy to get their attention, even though they seem to be under the pump.<br/><br/>I ordered the Hightop, which was a puffed pancake and it was delicious. I liked the coconut, but wasn't a fan of the cherries. In saying that, I'd still very easily eat it again. My friends ordered the breakfast ramen & the north shore (ham hock, grilled pineapple & poached egg). The breakfast ramen is not something I'd ever order if I saw it on the menu, but once the food came out I had food envy! Lots of the other orders looked awesome too - the eggs benedict & eggs brûlée are on my list to try.<br/><br/>My only complaint would be that the drinks are a tad pricey; coffee starts at $4.20, extra for soy, and the fresh OJ was $8.<br/><br/>Overall, an attractive place with really different breakfast choices to your standard cafe. I'll definitely be back here again to try out more on their menu.

When I first walked into the cafe, the interior design and the setting caught my eyes first. Of course, I also love the food there. The food is creative. Apparently, I was told that they change their menu according to the seasons. T<br/><br/>We got the SzeChuan SpareRibs, it was not bad. However, I especially like the Egg Benedict w twice cooked duck breast showered with orange and coffee hollandaise! <br/><br/>The waitress was very friendly and attentive to the needs of the customers. The whole ambience is lovely!
JR
Loved everything about Mammoth. The food is innovative and delicious. The staff are very friendly. Everything came out very quickly especially considering how busy they were. Great atmosphere, I recommend the mammoth spin on the traditional benedict.

Visited mid morning mid week with 2 friends. Was surprised that we were able to grab a table so fast as I have driven past and have seen line ups outside.<br/><br/>Service was prompt and friendly. The waitress was happy to point out the most popularly ordered dishes and answered all our questions.<br/><br/>I ordered the Doughnut Burger. Omg. This meal doesn't look much- but it was awesomely amaaaaaaazing!!!!!!<br/><br/>What is a doughnut burger?! It is a chicken katsu, green mango and papaya slaw; cucumber jam, chilli mayonnaise on a salt & pepper doughnut. <br/><br/>It was both salty and sweet. So many flavours. I eat out a lot. Too much- and I would have to say that this meal blew me away.<br/><br/>I also had a forkful of my friend's meal- the Hightop- a cherry laminating inspired crepe- and that was mind blowing too.<br/><br/>I actually want to return to Mammoth this week to try more dishes on the menu. <br/><br/>Super excellent. <br/>Coffee was great too.<br/>Well done!!!
Krystal
We picked two very different meals for breakfast the gnocchi and the lobster donut burger. Both very tasty meals - gnocchi was full of flavor. Lobster donut burger was delicious but also weird at the same time, with the sweet and savory flavors. Service was friendly!

Great atmosphere and service when we booked as a group of 8 (with 3 kids). Child friendly and relaxed setting. The food was presented wonderfully; the eggs brûlée I ordered was a little bland and the fermented chilli that came with the ramen was not hot at all. Big ticks for the adventurous menu and presentation but taste did not match it. Coffee (soy latte) was slightly gluggy (separated) and not the best roast.
CityWorker88
A corner cafe that makes good use of their space and a menu with some rather interesting combinations including the Doughnut Burger, a Katsu 'patty' and a cinnamon bun giving a sweet and savoury taste and complete makeover to the simple burger.<br/><br/>The home made gnocchi with ricotta cheese, sour cream and ragu was a nice change to the otherwise more meatier dishes and had plenty of flavour. <br/><br/>Coffee was good here too.
Steph A
Fantastic coffee! Came here the other day just for coffee it was quite a cute place and had a great atmosphere and service. The food looks great here I'll have to go back for brunch!

Love this place, the staff manage a constantly busy dining space professionally and the food and coffee are consistently brilliant. Love the coconut vanilla custard yoghurt with summer berries. Well done guys b
Digital Soularc
One of the best designed cafes in Melbourne without a doubt, food looked alot better than it was but it was still delicious and the coffee was also amazing. Definitely worth a visit, and then another one, and another one.
LittleMissPiggy
Very well presented but could do with a tiny change or two... <br/>Went here on a Saturday morning with a friend, only waited 15 mins for a table but the beauty is they serve you coffee while you wait... The menu is very interesting, following suit with a lot of Melbourne cafes but nailing presentation. <br/>The Benedict was amazing with the duck breast and homemade hollandaise. The rainbow salad is a miss, very large pieces of crunchy vegetables and barely any dressing. Food came out super quick, service was reasonable although they don't like change of seating, and pricing is to be expected for Melbourne. <br/>Must get the Cobb Lane dog units as you leave, salted caramel is a must!!<br/>Will definitely go back!
Lucinda Marlow
food is innovative, however, 2nd time I went with my friend, we were seated between couples and there was this table behind me, cackling women and the two women on my left were so loud<br/>My friend ordered beef salad, now if you are hungry, dont order this, about 4 slices of beef... disappointing and I was sort of embarrassed taking my friend there<br/>so we wont be returning, tables too close and other people can line up for a noisy place... you really appreciate cafes that allow you to talk to your friends but when you have to shout, no thanks
Kirsty C
Went there for a weekend brunch with my girls. We waited for around 15 min which is worth it. I tried their Benedict with the duck sausage, love this combination so much. Definitely recommend this dish.

A relatively new coming to Melbourne's cafe scene and what an addition it is. From the moment you enter this corner store you notice the welcoming natural light. Staff are immaculately presented and the decor is all blonde timber and white, adding to the relaxed, clean look.<br/>There was barely a table free around Friday lunchtime but we secured a table inside. <br/>The all day menu is a ripper. Everything that came out of the kitchen looked like a piece of art, so ordered was a hard task. <br/>My paleo toast w poached pear and mascarpone was perfect. Lightly toasted toast that was so tasty and then you cut up your poached pear and add a smothering of mascarpone and you are set! <br/>The avocado with coddled eggs on toast also looked handy - care with the presentation was evident. I did see the black crepe and it looked unbelievable.<br/>Coffee was pretty smooth and the service was swift.<br/>This place is one everyone must give a chance!
Borderline Sunshine
The hot chocolate was verrrrrrry bitter, i couldnt finish it. <br/>But the avocado toast was absolutely wonderful. <br/>I liked the atmosphere and the layout of the cafe.

I've been meaning to try this cafe for ages and finally got around to it last Sunday. What a treat! Being a beautiful weekend morning, there was a bit of a wait but no more than 10-15 minutes. Staff were very polite and thoughtful, even asking if I would prefer to sit at a table with 'proper' chairs rather than stools as I am heavily pregnant. The menu looked incredibly interesting, with a breakfast spread that I would be happy to call the most original I have seen in years - not just the standard big breakfast, smashed avo, scrambled eggs, bircher etc etc. I asked the waiter what to try out of the bircher, granola and yoghurt - he recommended the granola - and my husband had the 'North Shore'. Coffee was very good without being out of this world (let's call it an 8/10) but the dishes themselves took my breath away! Presentation was immaculate, flavour was incredibly original and the serving sizes were plenty without heading into dangerously huge territory. I felt the prices were extremely reasonable considering the techniques involved in the dishes - this was way beyond making toast and scrambling some eggs. Highly recommend!
Elly Baker
Staff were so friendly, and the meals came out presented beautifully and delivered on flavour. The Benedict was delicious, the duck was a great change up from the usual stuff you get at most other places. I can't remember the name of the other dish we ordered, it was like a zucchini noodle salad/rare beef pho, it was delicious

Over the summer, I discovered a new cafe. In a way that only a cafe can, this establishment makes the best use of this unusual position at the end between two, almost three intersecting roads. Just a 5 minutes walk down Beatty Avenue from Toorak Station is a cafe that serves food like a piece of edible art. Mammoth Cafe is minimalistic and modern in its design, making strategic use of its little corner at the end of an awkwardly shaped block.
JupitusMercury
Visited a few weeks ago and had Mammoth's take on Eggs Benedict. My disappointment at discovering the Lobster Doughnut Burger had been rested from the menu (which was what I had originally came to try) was quickly turned into joy at this happy accident! The wholemeal crumpets added an extra dimension I hadn't anticipated, and the pickled onion really set the whole thing off. Very impressed! Service was personal and friendly, and the space was wonderful and light. Looking forward to returning again...who knows, perhaps one day I'll get to try that elusive burger! ;)

The good: Best scrambled (folded) eggs in Melbourne, The Katsu donut burger.<br/>All their dishes are pretty amazing both visually and in flavour.<br/>Coffee is great, staff are friendly and very personable. This place is a standout- all the other cafes, and by all means there are some really good ones all fall into<br/> the same category, meaning its all been done before- but this place is a cut above the rest.<br/><br/>The bad: People on Zomato complaining that they had to wait 10 minutes for a table or whinging just for the sake of it.
Littleadventuresmelb
Great interesting menu. Good selection of drinks. Coffee is also good. Prices can be a bit steep. If you are in the area worth the visit, wouldn't travel for.

The style of MAMMOTH is extremely warm and sweet, mainly coloured with pink, sky blue and white, exactly the colour I want to have in my bedroom. Waited for 15 minutes finally got a sit next to the window. egg Benedict was my favourite, the best one I have ever had.I'll come back soon💗

Traditional food flavours a twist. This new place is great for breakfast and lunch and it's just down the road so I can roll there in the morning. Love it and it's our new local breaky joint.

By far the best the pudding I have ever had !!!! Especially being dairy free! It was so fresh & light the Passionfruit jelly was awesome too & really complemented the dish

“Mammoth is a mouthful. It has connotations of a big, large, stomping and unmovable force. It’s a mammal that would have been an admire to watch – from a safe distance – as it ruled the roost of its world. And, it’s the perfect description of the juggernaut café in Armadale – Mammoth. Opening its doors last September, the experienced team comprised of husband-and-wife Loren and Jamie McBride from Barry, Touchwood and Pillar of Salt have created another impeccable cafe.
Meg
Fun menu and interior design. Coffee was good and served fast. Food is presented beautifully so certainly 'instragram worthy' and although the dishes are yummy perhaps they just look a bit better than they taste. Would return.
Travelling Palate
Brilliant breakfast place in Armadale, perfect option for those tired of the same old breakfast menu that you find at 80% of Melbourne cafés. Every dish is beautifully executed and the service, just delightful!
Julycheee
Hot new brunch cafe. After a wait to get inside, we found the inside space clean, relaxing and relatively spacious between seats, even though it was bustling with diners and staff. If you're after traditional brunch food, this is not the place. The menu features very creative dishes - most combinations I would never find elsewhere. We settled on the char spanner crab egg crepe with lemon sorbet and the lobster donut burger. Both dishes had such bizarre combinations. Eating them was definitely interesting. While I'm not entirely sure the spanner crab and the crepe and the lemon sorbet all went together, individually they tasted great (strangely it was one of the best lemon sorbets I've ever tried). Lobster burger was also bizarre but strangely nice. Overall I think some of the creative food combinations could use a bit of fine-tuning, but eat with an open mind and you can find some really interesting food here.

Words have definitely gotten around, within the first few months of opening, it already attracted quite a few diners. The ambiance was Melbourne at its best, with white brick walls, a pastel colour palette, and plenty of wooden elements added to the mix. Situated on a corner block, it was actually quite a small cafe, but it didn't feel overly crowded, despite the amount of people.
Mrs Mark
Oh dear me.  Where do I start? How about the good - the service was efficient and the food was lovely - delicious and beautifully presented. The menu was very interesting.  The bad - the bathroom smelled like something had died in there and no signage indicating this.  When reporting this the staff said they already knew.  They also got my order wrong but to their credit they brought out the correct dish promptly.  Not rushing back any time soon.
Prahran Local
Great location but place is very busy, noisy and quite small. Have been twice now and have had to wait for at least 10mins on both occasions...the queues on the weekends are crazy! The staff are friendly but service can be quite slow, food presentation is amazing but taste let's it all down. Coffee is not that great...very bitter. Also on the second visit had staff constantly bumping into my back whilst changing the seating configurations and serving next to us...Would have loved for this place to have been my new local but won't be back...
Charlie
Visited this place just yesterday and I'm very pleased with my experience. Firstly, the coffee is so awesome! It's the right kind of cup you'd want to reach for in the morning. We ordered the smoked chicken salad and green chilli salad. I was honestly quite disappointed with the smoked chicken salad, a bit salty and somewhat plain in my opinion. But the green chilli salad was amazing – good for those who enjoy a bit of spice and was very light, but just enough to fill you up. The taste reminds me of a mix of flavours between Indian curry and Thai sweet and sour. I really enjoyed this salad, definitely recommend! Staff are friendly and fairly hospitable. Great location, pretty busy and has good interior.
Deli Pickles
Brilliant! There are so many cafes nowadays where the menus are fine but they are all much of a muchness. This place definitely stands out. The food is delicious, the presentation is literally picture perfect and the service is outstanding. Myda (sorry if I have spelt that wrong) in particular is fantastic, she's great! Looking forward to going back again and again....
Tri
The presentation of food is certainly beautiful - but the flavor pales in comparison. It is crowded on the weekends and is a tight squeeze as the cafe tries to jam more tables & chairs to accommodate the crowd.. Certainly not a cafe to go to if you want to have a relaxing chat - you won't be able to hear the other party! 2 stars as the staff is lovely, attentive and polite.
Emily Elizabeth
This cafe is waaay overrated. I had the north shore and my partner had the gnocchi. The flavours in all the dishes were jarring and didn't go together. Overpriced, lengthy wait period.
Angie
Nice little cafe in Armadale. Love the interior, very good lighting and spacious seating. Great atmosphere. Staff were friendly and attentive. Would love to come back again and try out the other options on the menu.
Deborah Pacheco
This menu is different & I found it refreshing to see. Coffee was good. The place had a fresh look. Friendly staff. My pancake was a bit dry but looked beautiful.
Live_in_melbourne
It's a nice cafe to go on a beautiful Sunday morning. Attentive and friendly service. Food were well presented and creative. But the food dont taste as good as the presentation. I will not recommand the lobster donut because it's lack of flavor and very oily from the donut. Couldnt really finish it and to be honest, all I could taste was sugar and oil from donut and sour flavors from slaw. They are just not a good combination. On the other hand, the benedict was nice. I felt like eating orange cake with eggs and sausages. Special experience. Overall, it's different and would like to try other dishes on the menu.
Confessions Of A Foodie
Great atmosphere and interior- good use of space. Food, although tasty and inventive, was a little overpriced for the small portions. Also, my friend was a little iffy about the cooking of her egg- she said it seemed quite raw and delicate still and wasn't to her liking.
DuckieLovesToEat
I have been here numerous times now. For the first I had the golden gay time panna cotta and my friend had the north shore. I really enjoyed the experience that I have planned on coming back which I did. The second time around I had the cherry lamington puffed pancake and my friend had the rainbow salad. For the other time we had the granola and the benedict. Overall experienced was good. You might noticed though that it can be a tight squeezed going to your table as they tried to put more tables and chairs to accommodate more people so if you want to chat then this might not be a good cafe for that especially on peak hours but early mornings has been pretty good. Customer service has been good so far.
Foodaholic
Had a rare child free day with hubby so decided to come and try out mammoth. Got seated straightaway eventhough they were busy and it was peak lunch hour. Orders were taken promptly and our drinks and meals were served quickly. Level of service is great and so was the food and coffee. Probably not the most kid friendly place in town but definitely a great place to come to when it's just the adults. The innovative food menu is amazing and they just prove that brunch/lunch options do not always have to be predictable.
Jeanegg
Came here for brunch on a weekday and really enjoyed the experience. We only had to wait about five minutes for a table. The staff were very friendly and conversational, and service was attentive. We were seated on a group table which already had two other people on it, but it still cosy enough without being too squashy. <br/><br/>I ordered the avocado and pumpkin seed hummus dish, which was delicious! The flavours worked really well with each other, and I quite enjoyed the coddled eggs; I hadn't seen that done at many other breakfast spots so it was a nice change for me. Dishes are on the slightly pricier end (for a uni student budget), but I would come here again as they have quite unique and interesting dishes. <br/><br/>The only downside was that a few of the dishes and sides were unavailable to order.
Farzana
Given the hype surrounding Mammoth, we decided to profit from our Monday brunch meeting and head here (instead of the weekends, which are apparently 'crazy').  We didn't have to wait very long at all for a table and were quickly dosed up with caffeine.  The cold brew was pleasant and not too sweet in taste. The menu was quite creative indeed, with items like 'pumpkin seed hummus' (is that even still classified as hummus haha) and 'pumpkin leather' and 'native bush tomato dust'.  I had the smoked chicken salad - which was very filling but nothing too exciting.  My friend's benedict dish was very aesthetically appealing and well-presented.  Service started out very friendly and welcoming, but towards the end we felt as though we were being rushed out, though by that time there were plenty of empty seats and no people waiting!  Other than that, overall a good brunch experience - definitely one to cross off the list if anything.

Heard so much bout this place had to check it out. The presentation of the food is amazing, but for me & the others on my table the taste didn't quite meet the same expectation. Lobster donut, crab crepe, all nice but.... The service overall was ok, however was told that everything was available on the menu, at 11.45am ordered at gnocchi to be told they were sold out. The waiter had no idea what was going on.
Eat Drink Anon
Stopped in for coffees (flat white & long black) and a doughnut (strawberry shortcake) which was all great. Doughnut light and fluffy and just the right filling. The rating is supported by the coffee and doughnut quality. Had a sneaky side of bacon and egg popcorn which was a savoury treat indeed. Food going out to tables looked well prepared and expect it would be tasty. Will have to try next time.

Absolutely loved my visit to Mammoth! Nothing could be faulted - the food, atmosphere, service, everything was on point. Presentation is highly prioritised at this cafe - it shows in their clean, modern decor and their beautifully arranged dishes. My chia pudding was almost too pretty to eat!<br/><br/>The food was sensational. I was afraid the chia pudding was going to be very sweet, but to my pleasant surprise it wasn't the case at all. In fact the chia pudding itself was barely sweet at all, but paired with the intense flavours of the passionfruit jelly and lychee pieces it produced the perfect balance of flavours. I also had a delicious white chocolate and raspberry muffin. It was huge! It was perfectly baked, with a lovely crisp exterior while staying moist, soft and fluffy inside. Definitely one of the best (if not the best) muffins I have ever tasted.<br/><br/>My friend ordered the crab crepe. It was a bit of a strange dish, and I didn't sample it so I can't comment on the taste, but he finished it (except for the fried noodles) so I assume it was decent.<br/><br/>The dishes are a bit on the pricey side, but the food is well worth it. I am so excited to come back to sample everything else on their menu. I don't even live that close but this is definitely my new favourite cafe!

First time here, had the north shore for lunch was absolutely fantastic.<br/><br/>Service was great and efficient, very hip and would reccomend going, breakfast menu but very modern. Ham hash was very different.<br/><br/>Thank you for the lunch, would highly recommend.

Another day to laze around, so we had brunch double date with H & J at Mammoth. A lot of cafes are not open on Sundays and over Christmas/New Year, it gets really hard to pick a place. Saw some interesting photos about their Lobster burger so decided to give it a try. But guess what? It was sold out by the time we arrived! They have pretty good coffee, beans from 5 Senses. Food is your average cafe food. The ones who have amazing presentation and average taste? Yeah that's what we got. I do have to say their eggs are cooked really well. My hamcock was too salty. H's bread was a tad dry. C didn't get the lobster burger he wanted, we might have to come back again for it I suppose? And why can't Zomato have a 0.75 score... :(

I had the avocado and coddled eggs. Was a lovely fresh fish but in hindsight personally would have preferred poached eggs.<br/><br/>Flavours were nice, the portion sizes for all dishes on the table were adequate to large<br/><br/>Presentation of the food was good.<br/><br/>Ice coffee was nice but nothing to write home about.
Lucy Porter
I little bit pretentious but the food was flawless. Menu was original, different to every other cafe in the area. The service was quick and the waiters friendly without being over the top . Will definitely be back to try more items on the menu. Only down side was the slight wait for table & lack of aircon in 35degrees :)

I had the chilli chicken, was great. The muffin was out of this world, a must try. Good coffee and the best staff! Guys dancing around the counter. We'll be back!

North Shore is a definite order. I would recommend it if you were eating here as well as the smoothie. The fried haloumi wasn't for me but my friend liked it and the gnocchi. I would come back for a coffee but this would be my first pick as it's always busy.
Qwerty
Only waited 5 minutes on a Sunday at midday which was pleasing. The green chilli chicken was very yum!! Whereas the lobster donut and cherry pancake were less than impressing and would definitely not order again

There has been a lot of hype in cyber space about this new cafe, so I thought I should give it a try. Given all the news about long lines and no seats on the weekends, I decided to go for a work lunch on a Monday afternoon. Even at this usually non-popular time, the cafe was packed, however we were lucky to have a table ready for us within a few minutes. I had the rainbow salad, however I must say I was a bit underwhelmed. The flavours were very unique, but I'm not sure they worked. Mammoth must be doing something right given the steady stream of customers and the plethora of positive reviews, but I can't say they have really won me over with their food.

Went there for a late lunch with friends, enjoyed the vibe and atmosphere there but not sure about the food. The popcorn with bacon was good but the main I had (wheat in the broth) was not good at all, soaky and salty. The fermented chillies didn't actually give it an extra flavour. The coffee and smoothie was good but overall a bit overpriced.
Marc Aarons
Over rated and expensive almost $40 for 1 person won't be going back there in a hurry. Coffee not the best either. Go back up Malvern rd for better food

I'll admit my boyfriend had to drag me here because I thought it just sounded a bit much. I was wrong, it's just the right amount of fantastic. Had the lobster doughnut and lamb ribs with bacon and egg popcorn. Then ordered the coconut custard and, as we just couldn't stop ourselves, the golden gaytime as well. Two of us managed to polish that lot off (well, most of it) and every mouthful was like a little bite of heaven. Staff super friendly and helpful, places like this make me wanna move to Melbourne!

Went with friends to Mammoth for breakfast yesterday. Fantastic fit out. Unusual shaped building but they have made the most of it. Quite noisy my only negative comment. Staff very friendly. Great coffee. Food yummy - I had poached eggs but stand out dish is coconut yogurt with strawberries. Visually - WOW! And friend said it was delicious. Will be heading back there soon.

Fabulous service, staff were very friendly and helpful, and food was absolutely delicious. Very popular and busy though, even at 1pm on a Friday afternoon.

Great menu, great food and very well presented. A great addition to Melbourne cafe scene. Definitely will come back, always busy, come early!

Very nice spot, welcoming service and VERY innovative  and interesting food. I had the ham-hog hash which was served with poach eggs, some kind of bruleed pineapple and my breakfast companion had  the lobster doughnut Burger. both yummmmmmy and well presented, just funky, cool, modern 21st century fun food.

Very cute interior but definitely need to book! Different to other brunch places where the dishes i had were comprised of seperate stand alone components - the Northshore worked well (would have again!) but the Benedict was over powered by the duck sausage

Mammoth is a relatively new cafe, with an open and bright interior. The menu is inventive, with exciting ingredients and interesting combinations. I also really liked the way the food was presented, and service was solid.

Loved the venue, and service.. But could have made a better choice on the meal.. Not as impressed as I hoped! Will have to go back.. Breakfast menu looks better than the lunch
Mon's Adventure
Jamie, the owner, was quite accommodating considering I don’t think they usually take bookings – it’s the sort of place you’ll have to line up for. Even though our number of guests kept changing they didn’t get frustrated with us. We started off with some drinks – the iced coffees were massive and just what we needed on a warm day.

When I hear the word ‘Mammoth’, I don’t usually think pastel pinks and pops of saturated blue. But I love that’s how the team at the cafe in Armadale have. It’s also the kind of place I would not have touched with a ten foot pole for at least a couple of months, just due to all the hype and excitement it was getting, but when Brad and I are up at an ungodly hour on a weekend to go to an event, only to get a flat tire on the way…where else is there to go at 7:30am in the morning but to a cafe that you know will be absolutely bonkers at 9?

Amazing food 👌 Went for the green curry chicken dish - was tip top. The red rice was really deliciously sweet. Rich and tasty flavours. Coffee is on point too. To note - very busy and a bit pricey - so get in early and save up your 💰 Vanessa Smith

Cute little cafe, interesting menu, friendly service and amazing coffee! Also didn't have to wait long at all for a table which is a bonus.

This place is creative: sugar-coated-nocturnal-dust-from-planet-burnt-ochre. With coddled eggs. I had the ‘granola’ dish, which was a sea of super sweet coconut death. The presentation was beautiful - but sometimes a girl just wants granola for breakfast, not a piece of freeze-dried art she can’t eat. I left disappointed and jittery from all the sugar. Also pretty pricey. 2 stars because the staff was nice and coffee was good.
Amds
Not bad but not the best either. Had the lobster burger which was a little strange but the lobster itself was cooked perfectly. Honourable mentions to the coffee and the spice rubbed haloumi which you can order on the side.
Sarah
Really enjoyed the menu: very creative, well presented and delicious. Definitely save some room for the golden gaytime pannacotta. Beautiful interior and friendly staff. I will definitely be visiting again 😃

Very small breakfast and it is very pricey. It is more a degustation/ experimental breakfast place. Limited food choice but nice healthy juice.

While I was away overseas I started seeing articles and lots of instagram pictures from a place called Mammoth, this got me curious. So after a bit of researching and google stalking I found out that the brains behind Touchwood and Barry is the owners of Mammoth. I didn't need much more convincing, it's located in Armadale in a leafy location close to the train station, so it was the perfect Saturday brunch spot for me.
Hungry
Although I love the décor, tableware and overall vibe of this place, the food is just too experimental for me. Will be sticking with coffee next time!

The boy ordered the lobster donut, mainly because it sounded bloody awesome: The doughnut had a brioche texure which was sweet and really helped offset the acidity coming through from the slaw. It was nice, but tiny. Though it was seriously delicious, it just wasn’t substantial enough and for a high price of $24.50, we questioned if it was really worth it. With so many sweet options on the menu, I definitely struggled to choose. I chose a ‘lighter’ version to save room for the Golden Gaytime so I got the coconut yoghurt custard. The yoghurt had a great coconut flavour, it was thick, not too sweet, not too sour. My only issue was that it needed more granola (I do like more crunch), but other than that it was a really nice, light and refreshing choice. Whilst the lobster donut didn’t seem right with its price tag, I thought the coconut yoghurt was worth every penny.<br/><br/>Once we had polished off brunch, we made the move to dessert:

A real pleasure. A class act. The menu was craftily put, with a good mix of the breakfast favourites (some with a twist) and sufficient varietal, well thought options for lunch. My schezuan ribs was delicious: tender, succulent, balanced well with the cucumber and pear salad. My partner had the gnocci and it was also well executed - fluffy, bounce-back bite and light, with a rich amazing sauce. We finished off with the pannacotta dessert which was also delish and plated beautifully. Fused with an on point front of house (good queue management and knowledgeable waitress) and up to the mark coffee, this Armadale joint is an envy of any suburb to have in their vicinity.

Nice little corner shop on Malvern road, had to wait to be seated for a bit on a Sunday morning. Luckily we got a table outside, as indoors was very noisy.<br/><br/>Interesting menu, the most appealing options for me were the coconut yoghurt with bunch of flowers and strawberries and other pretty things, and the hummus and avo with chili eggs on gluten free toast. The toast was delicious and thick, and the hummus was also nice. Generous amount of avo as well. The dish was not spicy at all, and was a bit lacking in flavor because of that. Even some pepper would've helped to accompany the salt on the table. <br/><br/>The yoghurt dish was more like a dessert, and the yoghurt was super thick, almost like not so cold ice cream. A bit different than expected, but still delicious. <br/><br/>Smoothie of the day was pineapple kale and banana with coconut flakes. A bit slimy consistency that could have been avoided with frozen bananas. Refreshing, though. All portions are played in a beautiful degustation way.

Cool vibe, great coffee. Food innovative and expedient. Child friendly service Warmly recommended Slight drawback is lack of tables so get in early
AlbertsMummy
The wait staff are absolutely lovely & the daily smoothie of kale, pineapple & coconut was amazing (at $9 it should be...) but I wouldn't rave about the food - a bit try hard & definitely Toorak prices. Although we were sans children, there really isn't much on the menu suitable for children but I appreciate that's not their aim... Definitely worth a try.

Pushing the boundaries and taking risks would be an understatement when it comes to brunching at Mammoth. With a lobster doughnut burger on the menu aside egg and bacon popcorn, it is definitely a place that will leave you amazed and inspired. This café in Armadale was created by people from restaurants touchwood, barry, pillar of salt and hammer and tong (ahh it all makes sense). These distinguished foodie creatives have collaborated to execute these unimaginable dishes with confidence. Quirky and creative food that makes you go wow.
DAMMIT JANET I LOVE FOOD
Talk about popular! Everywhere I turned, someone had a lobster burger sitting in front of them. And for good reason. The lobster was sweet and light, while the slaw and the sauces were perfect accompaniments. The only thing that spoiled this burger for me though was the donut bun. There was a lot of sugar on the already sweet bun, and each bite kind of confused my taste buds. I have nothing against mixing sweet and savoury but this burger just didn’t do it for me. Give me brioche any day!
UNITORO
Nice food, nice decor and average coffee. Definitely worth a try, beautiful presentation of the food. <br/><br/>Tried: smoked bacon dashi soup & lobster donut

Melbourne’s brunch scene is constantly evolving with new cafes serving contemporary dishes. A donut burger? A duck sausage Benedict? Of course I had to forget about my list of cafes-to-try (for now) and head to Mammoth in Armadale at my earliest opportunity!.

The Melbourne brunch scene is getting pretty crowded. It seems like every time you speak to someone they are suggesting some amazing new place. It all has become so commonplace that you become a little desensitised to it. I feel like the moment someone jumps into a tirade about the coffee or the food at some little gem that they have discovered I turn on my inna skeptic. Its not that I don't appreciate the hot tip I mean I blog about this stuff so word on the street is important its just that often their idea of 'amazing' is eggs that aren't overcooked and something sweet for breakky (how rebellious). When I hear that a place is amazing now I kill my expectations and opt for a 'we'll see how it goes' approach.

Mammoth, Mammoth, Mammoth! I feel like that’s all everyone is talking about at the moment. And no, I’m not referring to the huge prehistoric animal, I’m talking about the new café in Armadale that is Mammoth in name and in popularity. Each weekend, eager foodies have been descending on this corner café to see what all the fuss is about and let me tell you, none of them are leaving disappointed.

Went on a Tuesday afternoon and oddly enough had put our name down and wait for a table (extremely popular maybe?). Ordered a savoury sweet combo, with some folded eggs and what I call the deconstructed lamington. Def hit the spot though wasn't as impressive as Barry or Touchwood. Still, worth a try!
Fatcat-Skinnycat
The location, layout and decor is great; the service is faultless and the salted caramel doughnut is to die for! The coffee also hits the mark... but thats about where the greatness stops. The menu is way too inventive and almost seemed a bit "try hard". The flavours of each component on each plate ordered were really something... put them together and hmmm. Don't get me wrong, the food was really nice and quality was great... but 'nice' just doesn't cut it when the menu makes each dish sound like it should be exceptional. Kelly

Prettiest brunch place! Staff were welcoming and very attentive, they recommended us some of their favourites. The menu had really unique dishes like the lobster donut burger, it was really different and fresh. The golden gay time panna cotta was awesomely delicious, nice and smooth with different textured elements.

There’s a lot of brunch cafes in Melbourne at the moment delivering a lot of style over substance. Would you like to have some dehydrated strawberries on your bircher this morning? Or perhaps some cured wallaby with your scrambled eggs? Don’t get me wrong, I do love an inventive brunch like the best of us, but not if it gets in the way of flavour. It seems that the Melbourne brunch scene is getting a bit fussy for it’s own good. I guess a big fry up isn’t considered pretty or “Instagram worthy” these days, so chefs are being pushed to the brink to make their food look pretty.

Don't be put off by the long wait. Although it can take up to an hour to be seated at Mammoth during busy periods, it's worth it. Put your name on the wait list and while away the time by grabbing a takeaway coffee and watching the world go by while you spy the parade of pretty dishes in anticipation of your turn to be seated.<br/>The first thing that strikes you is the en-trend bright and airy dining space. Next you'll notice the army of friendly, efficient, well groomed hipster-esque waitstaff. There's a lot of beard maintenance going on here.<br/>An eclectic menu showcases classic and modern ingredients, unusual cooking methods (coddled eggs anyone?) and smart food pairings that make choosing your dish a deliciously challenging task indeed.<br/>My personal favourite is The Benedict - duck sausage,<br/>orange and corn blini, pickled onion, fried egg, smoked maple hollandaise. Both surprising; in its marriage of flavours, and comforting in consumption. The duck sausage coupled with a silky maple hollandaise is the stuff of foodie dreams.<br/>Plating is nothing short of photogenic. If I had to be picky, the balance of flavours can occasionally be a little off point, but with feedback and time this minor shortfall might be rectified. <br/>Coffee is great. Service is excellent. During busy periods it could pay for staff to make more effort to service the corners of the dining space, whose patrons seemingly wait longer and occasionally have to wave a menu around to get attention. Again, a minor shortfall.<br/>Perhaps this isn't food for everyone. Pickier pallets may find the menu challenging but there are some standard fallbacks to suit.<br/>Highly recommended for at least one visit, although I'm sure you'll be back for more.

Gorgeous little cafe, went for lunch mid week. Only con being we had to go inside to get a waitress to take our order as we got a bit forgotten outside. I had the ribs with the cucumber and nachi salad which was amazing!!! The salad worked so well with the lightly spiced ribs. My friend got the lobster doughnut and enjoyed but found a bit sweet towards the end. Will be back. Well priced and beautiful presentation :)

Attention brunchers. There’s a new kid in town and it’s a powerhouse. With the success of Touchwood in Richmond and Barry in Northcote, Jamie and Loren McBride, husband and wife team, are bringing their next venture to Armadale. Whenever big brunch names are behind the launch of a new cafe, inevitably expectations are high. Comparable to how Meryl Streep’s kid would feel entering the big screen. The public asks ‘will the kid be as good as the parent’?’. In this instance, it's a resounding yes. In fact, the quirkiness and inventiveness of the menu – courtesy of Emma Jeffrey (ex-Hammer & Tong), makes Mammoth

The half an hour wait for a table was worth it as we were served straightaway once we were seated. Staff were really friendly and recommended dishes we should try. I ordered the green chilli chicken and it was packed with flavour and texture! Very popular cafe and it's at a prime location.
Saul
Came in for lunch, very long wait for a table and our food, in saying that, we were praying it would be so delecious that the wait would be forgotten in the first mouthful. Not quiet the case. The eggs and salad that took over half an hour to be poached and tossed were OK. Nothing earth shattering, not terrible, but not quiet worth the wait.<br/>Service was great, space is beautiful. <br/><br/> <br/>

Delightful! Lobster donut burger was different... and yummo. Love something different. Dessert was delicious. And then the popcorn. Bacon oh bacon.
TBMoftheWEST
Dropped in for a quick bite to eat here and was happy enough. <br/>Food was tasty and the service good. <br/>Will drop in again to try the coffee at some stage.

Had brunch at Mammoth on Saturday and it was absolutely packed. Despite having to wait 45 minutes for a table which isnt ideal the staff were very apologetic and constantly updated us on the expected wait time.  The venue itself is gorgeous and airy even though its quite small.  In terms of the food I was really impressed. The menu is certainly unique but no disconcertingly so. I ordered the Northshore dish which came with ham hock hash, poached eggs, grilled pineapple and a jalapeno popper. Everything was perfectly seasoned and all of the elements complimented each other incredibly well. Great addition to the Armadale cafe scene.
Stylishcoffee
Good little cafe. I have been a couple times and both times enjoyed what I had. I had folded eggs and it was nice, good size serving and good perfectly. Coffee is five senses which is nice when its done perfect, first in house coffee was nice then I got my take away and wasn't as great. Will go back as I live about a minute away and its better then any of the other cafes on that strip.
STEPHEN ADORJAN
We found a crowd standing outside at about 10:00 am on a Saturday. We found a larger crowd milling and having a great time inside. The dishes they were tackling looked unusual and interesting - so we joined the queue. We did not regret this. The food was innovative and great; the coffee was very good; the staff were smart and friendly. <br/>We will be back for more!
Alexandra Scherrer
Gorgeous new cafe, very quick service and beautiful food. Really new and exciting takes on the classics like eggs Benedict, and a beautiful selection of drinks to accompany. Thoroughly enjoyed the experience, a little pricey but worth it for special occasions like friends going away brunches!
Keen For Cuisine
Really awesome and inventive menu, super cute space too but the communal tables can get a bit cramped. The coffee is good and the food is presented so beautifully. Recommend ordering the dutch baby! North shore was good but may not be to everyone's taste.
Hendo
Great place!<br/>Very creative menu with lots to explore. <br/>Loved the coddled eggs on toast and the amazing Panna Cotta. <br/>Highly recommended.....

Amazing breakfast - great coffee, good service! Had the North Shore breakfast which was perfect and a sweet Piña Colada muffin - will be back again for sure.

Overall this was a pretty disappointing experience. I had very high expectations - too high maybe. I had the egg brûlée with pickled zucchini and artichoke on multigrain toast with butter. The eggs are hard boiled, they weren't runny in the middle like the waiter promised (not his fault, he was nice), and the pickled zucchini was so sweet it overpowered the entire dish. I probably will not return. I left hungry :(

Popped in here for a takeaway coffee. They have done a great job with the interior. Very light and bight and inviting. Was nice to be treated with a smile. Service was excellent. was just about to site down and wait for my coffee and before I could I lovely smiley man handed me my coffee. LOVED the coffee so glad I only work down the road nice to have a go to coffee place now. Thanks guys

I decided to have the ‘Grilled lychee and passionfruit chia pudding, macadamia, hemp seed crumble, blood orange ($14.00)’ which coincidentally is a gluten free and vegan option from the menu. I thought this may be a bit small for my mammoth appetite but the dish turned out to be a lot bigger than I expected. I loved how this dish was not overly sweet, it was indeed quite bitter in parts.

Melbourne's newest cafe really steps it up a notch with a creative and delicious menu. I arrived at 8:45am and it was pretty packed already.I was impressed, given that it's only been open for a few days, that the service and food was fast, efficient and friendly. I'd normally expect more of a wait and teething issues but they looked like they had it all down pat already. The coffee was good (nothing wrong with it, but nothing to rave about) but it's all about the menu. Looking through the menu, several people next to me were giving me recommendations and they were raving about what they had (the Benedict with duck sausage or the Rainbow Salad) but I settled on the spanner-crab crepe (blackened with squid ink) and a lemon sorbet. A very different and asian inspired brunch item, but completely delicious. I'll definitely be back to try the Lobster Donut Burger (never thought I'd see those three words together) and will also try the Golden Gaytime Panna Cotta. A word of warning though, it's not the biggest space (acoustically, it works well) so I'd recommend going early to make sure you can get a table exp on the weekend.

Merely 3 days old, Mammoth is already finding it's stride. We popped in for brunch today close to noon. It was pretty busy for a weekday. Staff were attentive and warm, coffee was spot on, and the food was meticulously presented and delicious. I love the creative menu. I had The Benedict - duck sausage, orange and corn blini (this was perfect!), pickled onion, fried egg, smoked maple hollandaise. The sausage and blini probably overpowered the subtle - flavoured hollandaise, but overall I really enjoyed this balanced meal. The Hubby had the avo on rye dish - I was pretty impressed with the pumpkin seed hummus. Great stuff. We'll be back to explore the menu further. Keep it up guys!<br/>Ps: So new, the cutlery shines perfectly! ;p

I've been walking past this place for weeks while it was being built, and when I saw it was open this morning I definitely had to go in. The place looks amazing, full of light, spacious and has a great atmosphere. There is a half-open kitchen and a good place to wait for your take away coffee. Who ever designed this place did a great job. <br/>I ordered a take away coffee. They do $0.20 off when you bring your own take-away cup, that's nice. The coffee looked great, but unfortunately it didn't taste so great. It was watery and tasted a bit burnt. Their location is very convenient though, so I'll give it another try.<br/><br/>Update: The third time the coffee tastes better, but still a bit too bitter for my liking. Unfortunately the 20 cent discount when you bring your own cup no longer exists (I was told no such thing was ever set up, even though it did the first two times - but was offered 20 cents back when I asked about it)

I was so excited to finally come to this place. Opened just yesterday and all I can say is hallelujah! This funky little establishment has a great overall vibe and a lot of natural light. I came here with the lady for a morning bite and I must say from the moment we walked in the door to the moment we left everything was right. From the warm greetings of the baristas who brew your perfect cup right next to the door to the attentive wait staff who took our order. This is a cafè done right. We chose to order the lavender bagel with honey and buffalo ricotta, chia pudding and the avocado eggs with chia bread. The presentation was superb and everything was delicious. Whether you're going in for a quick bite with some friends or are after that mid day pick me up, mammoth cater for it all. Highly recommend this little gem in the rough of Melbourne cafes. :)
