Coffee was good!! Avocado on toast and great company! Prefect start to a morning if you need a quick bite before work, especially with the train station so close.
Amalia is a café located in the Beatty Avenue shopping strip in Armadale, next to Toorak Train Station. 5-10 years ago, the shopping strip was almost bare, but now has a number of weekend brunch destinations. Within the last 12 months the café has changed hands, and I had been hoping to sit down and try it for some time.
Amalia is recently under new management and I recommend you visit ASAP! Such a lovely cafe with friendly staff that make you feel at home. It is a great place to make your regular coffee stop - with the staff quickly knowing you at a personal level. Ps The mushroom hollandaise is superb!
A great find in Armadale. Today, my friend and I enjoyed the sunshine in Rose St at Cafe Amalia
1st time, it was not referred to me from a friend, found it on Urbanspoon and coerced my friend to try it
The owner was so hospitable, the hot chocolate was nice, my friend said his cappuccino was really good
And both of us found the food refreshing, delicious
with the next door alarm going off to the frustration of the owner, he kindly said we can go inside to reduce the noise of the alarm
what a great find.. will certainly return for a dinner or breakfast or another lunch
I urge all to really try this beautiful cafe in Rose St Armadale
Simple but quite sophisticated menu, different to nearby cafés with originality and flair, good little wine list, great atmosphere, great coffee, great service.
Loved it!`. As a local I have honestly never been in as I usually go around the corner to the other cafes but my family came here on Saturday and wow is all I can say.
The owner was honestly fantastic and just because of him we will be back. The serves were huge, in fact they were so large none of us could finish which meant if you have a huge appetite this is definitely your place.
We had two amazing corned beef toasted sandwiched which were so delicious/ The beef steak baguette was a very generous serve and came with chips and the soup of the day was a beef minestrone that again was a large serve with a tasty bacon crouton.
The coffees were terrific as were the tea's. We cant wait to come back next weekend.
HIDDEN GEM. Totally serendipitous that I stumbled across this place! I got off at Toorak station to find there was no room at my usual cafe Rouge. So I strolled around the corner for what turned out to be the most delicious breakfast and just perfect coffee and a pastry (went all out)...I was so impressed that I came back the other day for a lunch date with a friend which was again, delectable. By this time I was intrigued enough to come back for one of their Tuesday night dinners (at the moment they're following the Tour de France with a different regional dish each week) and it was out of this world. The cassoulet was just like in France. It is truly a hidden gem, and I hope for one hope this secret doesn't get out too soon!!
Delightful restaurant with superbly presented meals and great coffee. Classic dishes with modern twists. Recommend the slow pork roast.
Great service, great food, kid friendly. I went to Amalia for the first time today for brunch. I absolutely loved it. Friendly helpful staff, they grabbed me a highchair straight away. The smashed avo with durka, feta, poached eggs were great! Looking forward to taking my husband back and trying the Mexican breakfast.
Love, love, love!. We went to cafe Amalia for the first time for breakfast last Saturday. Enjoyed it so much that we came back the next day but disappointingly it was closed :( We had the autumn porridge (creamy with just the right amount of sweetness), crab congee (soooo good) and the Mexican eggs (tad overcooked but wouldn’t stop us from trying again). They had a nice covered outdoor area so we could sit with our puppy as well. Can’t wait to come back and try the dinners!
Christian and Angela at Cafe Amalia are genuine & friendly and complement the cosy atmosphere and sumptuous pastries and coffees they serve. I couldn't start my day without stopping at Cafe Amalia and receiving my cheerful good morning from Christian.
Terrific meal. The Gnocchi Gratin was simply amazing!
My friends Sirloin with marrow bone was to die for and the Harpuka was just beautiful.
Great service with friendly attentive staff.
Do yourself a favour and have dinner at this amazing little restaurant in Armadale.

A neighbourhood asset. Style, atmosphere, wonderful food, relaxed and friendly
Exquisite coffee! Enjoyed a delightful lunch, the staff here are more than welcoming and the service was quick too. Will definitely be coming here again :)
A good steak sandwich with no chips, sauce, cheese? No way.
YES WAY!
This place is fantastic, three thumbs up!
TRES BEIN Lunch on a weekda.... TRES BEIN
Lunch on a weekday, and Amalia is thumping. Very busy because - fabulous fresh food. My salad was a bounty of colourful goodness, my companion devoured the pie with relish. The waitresses need to get the skates on but the French duo who run the joint make up for them.
Beautiful & simple; yet great quality & friendly service.
Took the work crew here and sat in the back dining room, everyone was so impressed by everything about this place food, service and atmosphere. We will all be back!
Thanks for the amazing chocolate mousse, topped off my birthday evening perfectly :) xx
Excellent. Well thought out menu, expertly prepared and presented well. Service professional and experienced. Recommended.
Classy local. We've been here several times, for brunch, lunch and a few cosy drinks on a Friday. Really great service and a lovely bright, well designed cafe with several spaces. Interesting and tasty menu, great coffee and an excellent wine list.
Fab coffee and wonderful service in a beautiful leafy street away from the hustle and bustle of busy High street.
Had the chicken and leek pie, chai latte and banana and chocolate tart. All so good! And the lovely French men who work there, so nice! Great setting with 3 separate eating rooms a long table down back with a fireplace. Love. Shall be back!
Great Ploughmans lunch and chocolate and banana tart. Lovely managers and great service ! Will be back
Really enjoyed my breakfast experience here today. I ordered the Ham & Brie Omelette and it was absolutely delicious. Great coffee and attentive friendly staff. Nice atmosphere, this was my first visit and will definitely be returning
Amelia's is an absolute find! The food is delicious, the coffee best I have had in a long time and because I have an extreme allergy to garlic, the Chef is always able to accommodate me with no problems. The staff too, go out of their way to make you feel comfortable and attention to their patrons is always important. This little cafe is a treasure!!! Glenda McGee Malvern Victoria
Loved the coffee. This is what its meant to be .. right strength and warmth and just flawless. Perfect Kickstart to the day . Ready for the challenge ahead. Love it when you can savour it till the last drop and not think about anything else .
The customer service was also impeccable and very warm.
exceptional service, the barista sure knows how to make a coffee!
I went here for brunch and couldn't have asked for a better experience... I had the Duhka scrambled eggs, a must try if you are coming here for the first time!
Good coffee to takeaway and never have to wait very long. Lovely little street (Beatty Ave) for a few coffee places to choose from, I will keep trying them out to compare.
