Review Wine 1160 - Armadale

Nigel
What an exceptional wine bar right in the heart of Armadale. The quality of the food and wine here is of the highest standard and some of the best I have tasted in Melbourne. Especially enjoyed the attention to detail with the selection of wine that the owner gives you to make sure you definitely get a wine you thoroughly enjoy and compliments the food.

My go to wine bar. Owner is very generous and friendly, offers spectacular service, couldn’t be more pleased. The decor is nice and cozy, love the attention to details. The wine selection is fantastic, got some really nice selection of French and Italian wine. Love the champagne list which is constantly changing. The food is spot on, pairs beautifully with the wine. I have tried everything on the menu and not a single one disappoints. Great value too.Highly highly recommend if you love some good wine and decent food.

Wine 1160 is a new wine bar in Armadale with a lot of charm and an extensive wine selection. The owner was on site when I visited; it's very obvious he's passionate about what he does. He will be able to perfectly pair any wine with any dish of your choosing- both of which are sure to impress. The ambiance is nice, mellow, comfy, intimate. There are booths and tables, the former of which is preferable. With a kitchenette tucked in the back corner and bottles lining the walls, Wine 1160 feels like dining in someone's home (in a great way). I urge you to visit for yourself.

This is a great new place to enjoy delicious wine and nibbles. Beautiful decor and ambience. Cosy but not cramped inside with courtyard space out the back. I suspect this may become a regular haunt of ours...

I’ve just come home from the loveliest evening at this place. The people looking after us were brilliant - really thoughtful. They gave our handbags a chair, and took care to make the child in our group feel extra special. They were also very gracious and didn’t rush us out when we stayed put until 12:30am, long after everyone else in the restaurant had left (oops - lost track of time). The food, wine and atmosphere were just gorgeous. 5 stars, wholeheartedly.

We have been here about once a quarter for the last couple of years (have young kids) and they have been consistently excellent. The service, food, wine and atmosphere are a blend of class and relaxed, unpretentious charm. I've had two birthday dinners there and plan to have more, highly recommended.

Snug, and beautiful wines. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening. Couldn’t fault the food, especially the gnocchi. Come to think of it the fish and scallops were also pretty good.

We went here last night for my husband's birthday. We didn't book and it was PACKED! We sat outside on the street for a while and enjoyed champagne and polenta chips - both absolutely delicious! Followed with the wagu sliders - again, amazingly delicious! We were recommended a Portuguese rose with the sliders and it did not disappoint, slid down and was exactly what we were after. The service was exceptional! The main guy (perhaps the owner?) really was lovely, he's in the right job! And then I think a French guy, he was also wonderful, so great staff and prompt service all round! We've already highly recommended this place to our close friends but will continue to recommend and will come back ASAP! Thank you for making my husband's birthday special and memorable.

We loved this place yesterday. Great wine and shared tapas plates. It feels like you are hanging out in Europe. 5 out of 5 for service - the owner was lovely! We will definitely be back.

Difficult to resist once you are in 1160. One would miss the decor, wine, food, passion of the Chef and warmth of my friend if you have not been there.

Had an amazing dinner at Wine1160 last night with a group of friends. The new chef Darren’s barramundi special for the night was delicious and the service, as usual, superb!

This hidden gem has been opened for a couple of years now. Until recently, I’ve not had the opportunity to try it out. A group of four decided we should give it a go. Not sure of the arrangement, was it a just a wine bar with small nibbling plates on offer? Or was there more to it? The food selection was made up of a number of small plates that include a selection of cheeses, salamis & a number of prepared dishes. As well as that, there was a small selection of main sized dishes. While, we sipped on a Prosecco to get us going, I focused on the food menu while one of my companions focused on the wines list. We decided on four share plates to begin. A yellow fin tuna carpaccio with orange, fennel & roe. Tissue thin & melt in the mouth fresh with a light citrus tang. Crisp, beautifully cooked fried cauliflower pieces served with a spiced yoghurt. A fresh Caprese salad with heirloom tomatoes & burrata. Finally thin pasta with prawn, tomato dressed with a light fish broth. Servings were quite generous. Served with fresh crusty bread & oil. It was a substantial start but we all wanted a little bit more. The prawn pasta seemed to be the table favourite so three of us ordered the small plate as our main while one of us opted for a more substantial main of crisp skin salmon with panzanella salad & salsa verde. A decent slab if salmon arrived with what looked to be a beautifully crisp paper thin skin. The food was beautifully presented & thoroughly enjoyed. It was enjoyed with a velvety smooth quaffable shiraz - I can’t tell you which, as I paid more attention to the food! The service was prompt & friendly. The space was warm & inviting with low light and exposed brick & blackish paint work which set of the warm timber tables & cabinetry.
Highly recommended for an informal night out for a nice selection of dishes to work around your wine.

The most delicious food I’ve had in a long time. Def not the same-old recipes you could get anywhere. Will def be back.

So disheartening to go to a place like this. We read really great things about it but on the night that we went, the staff were just...gross. Really rude, dismissive and arrogant. My wife and I don’t have a huge knowledge of wine but we know what we like and we’re open to new things...but we don’t like being made to feel like we’re stupid. So disappointed by how this business treats customers.

The wine bar houses some impressive 180-200 wine varieties at any given time; a collection that is carefully curated by owner Prabir. You do not have to spend too long in Prabir's company before being swept away by his large and infectious dose of enthusiasm and passion towards wine... and realising that in his hands, a great vino (or two, or three...) is guaranteed.

I love this stylish wine bar. Perfect fact place for a beautiful bottle of Bourgogne and cheese. The owner is knowledgeable and passionate about delivering an optimal end to end experience to his customers.

Such a needed venue for the Malvern area.

I think I've just found my new Thursday night go to. The place was full when I arrived but was quickly slotted in to a table. Great wines, ambience, service and food pairings. I'm in heaven.

Thoroughly enjoyed lunch at Wine1160 today. Service was so lovely and the food was delicious. Between two we shared the mixed olives, the School prawns, the beef croquettes and the confit octopus. The school prawns were particularly addictive and the croquettes were impressive- very generously filled with pulled beef. Will definitely be coming back.

My friends and I had dinner and drinks at Wine 1160 and loved it! They were so generous and let us taste wines and there was a great selection. Great wine knowledge by the team. The food was delicious. When we didn’t order enough food the chef came out and made some suggestions for us. The beef cheek croquettes and school prawns are a must! Best of all was the service. Couldn’t fault it. If you are after a cosy night with great food and wine, this is the place!

Really beautiful place this is. The interior is Luxurious and quality; with the outdoor area the perfect place in summer. The girls and I had a few bottles here and the place was immaculate.

My gripe? My wine is $18 I discovered and we paid close to $90 for it. Yes I get I'm out and not home yet as someone who heads to Toorak wine cellars on a regular basis you'd expect to see wines that are UNIQUE here; some treasures you can't just get at Dan Murphys on sale. For $90 you should be getting top notch wines.

Asides from that the location and interior is incredible. Something you'd find in the Sydney CBD or something.

I've never written a review before but this place deserves one! Beautiful wine, snacks and staff!
Such a gorgeous, friendly and cosy yet classy place... The perfect choice for an afternoon or evening cheese and wine session! Will be back for more!! Such a delightful experience.

A great little place for a nice glass of wine. Cozy and friendly with an extensive wine list and a great little menu. Nice for a catch up, date or even just a Sunday arvo drink. Gorgeous!

Perfect Wine Bar on every level. The host is gracious and his staff are effective and yet remain subtle. The venue is tasteful, the wine selection is outstanding and there are some lovely treats to accompany your wine. What I love most is being given advice on wives without the overkill that seems to go hand in hand with many other wine bars.

Well done guys.
