Excellent food. Menu is extensive and seasonal to a particularly high standard. Definitely fine dining. The place is beautiful and staff are super friendly and the food is delicious. The menus options are an excellent value. The dining experience overall is very pleasant. I highly recommend this restaurant.

What a cute, quaint place. Had a pink lady gin drink which was lovely. Paired with grilled chicken and lemongrass with a fillet steak in soy and ginger. Staff are polite and professional. We even sat outside.

Excellent service. Very friendly and helpful with the recommendations. The ambience is easy and romantic with easy listening French music in the background. We had beautiful starters and a number of larger share plates. Food was fresh and tasty. With plenty of choice. The desserts were great too. You need a booking when it gets busy!!! Great for a date night or a special day.

Vietnamese fusion restaurant in Armadale. Le Tonkin is less than a year old, but has the confidence of a mature establishment. On arrival we were pleasantly surprised to see our table with baby seat all set up. The fit out is very intimate and luxurious. A neon sign invites diner to “be here now”. Wise words indeed. For entree, we tried the Grilled Tiger Prawns, with Wasabi Dressing, Green Apple & Herbs. The prawns were large, juice & fresh, and the wasabi sauce really had a nice kick in it. Apple side salad was a cooling complement to the heat. I would say that the fried onion the prawn was unnecessary, just got in the way of the flavours. Next up, Wagyu steak in Wafu sauce. Served on a sizzling hotplate, this dish was a real stunner, the soft wagyu melts in your mouth. Come with generous side salad too. This is a great sharing dish for two or even three diners. On the side we had Steamed Vegetables with Oyster Sauce. Though the photo doesn’t show it, this dish had a fantastic amount of oyster mushrooms too! This is a great side dish if you’re going heavy on the meat. Also had some steamed rice to soak up everything. For dessert, they had some great dairy free options! We sampled the Matcha and Coconut Tiramisu. It was sweet, light and beautifully presented with sweet potato curls and flowers on top. The service was fast and friendly on a busy Friday night. There were nice, clean bathrooms too. There is an affordable lunch menu available as well. With great menu, service and baby & allergy friendly attitude, Le Tonkin is a fantastic addition to High Street, Armadale and definitely worth visiting!

Excellent, fresh Vietnamese food. A real gem to have as a local on High St. The kingfish sashimi was superb and so fresh. We also tried the turmeric rockling and barramundi which were delicious. Highly recommended and will go back for sure!

Friday night is family night, so mum suggested we go out to a Vietnamese fusion restaurant in Armadale. Le Tonkin is less than a year old, but has the confidence of a mature establishment. On arrival we were pleasantly surprised to see our table with baby seat all set up. The fit out is very intimate and luxurious. A neon sign invites diner to “be here now”. Wise words indeed.

This restaurant is exactly what Armadale was missing. Great Vietnamese restaurant. As a vegan, they catered and helped me out well. Everyone must get the eggplant dish - it was the star of the night. My group also got the pork belly and barramundi which they found quite nice too but portion size could have been bigger. Will be coming back for sure

Great new eatery on High St. A variety of Asian dishes mainly Vietnamese inspired. Have enjoyed a couple of take away meals & a sit in lunch. Highly recommend the grilled chicken vermicelli noodle salad served with fresh herbs, bean shoots & nuoc cham dressing. Chicken & shitake spring rolls also delicious with Kumquat nuoc cham. Take away containers are recyclable paper which is pleasing. Today sitting in, I tried the beef Pho. Broth was well flavoured but the beef was over cooked & tough. Also shared two types of dumplings - juicy pork & ginger prawn. Both served with a delicious chilli jam & soy. Totally moreish.

This is a great little local restaurant. The food has a uniqueness about it which is difficult to find these days. The friendliness of the staff along with the professional way they work makes for a fantastic evening.

What a lovely gem!
Beautiful food, great service, quality
ambience. We’d certainly recommend this new restaurant to anyone. Also looking forward to going to the sister restaurant in Hanoi!

This is a wonderful new addition to the Malvern/Armadale dining scene. The ambience of this modest sized venue is warm and welcoming. The owners are rightly proud of their Hanoi based sister restaurant and they have brought their signature rockling fish dish to Melbourne.

Everything we tried was full of simple yet spot on flavours. Try a selection of the spring roles, they were delicious, the rockling was cooked to perfection and the herbs served on the side enhanced the dish. The other dish was the red duck curry, again, this was full of flavour and well seasoned. We also tried the passion fruit brûlée, which was a perfect way to end a lovely meal. Good wine options and warm service.

Welcome guys, we will see you again soon!
