Review Mibaya Japanese Restaurant - Armadale

Always really enjoy getting sushi platters from here as the ingredients are fresh, and varied 🍱 🍣. I also got the tempura last time and it was great! Definitely recommend 💛. The owners here are also very friendly ☺️. The only downside is that there phone line is often down which makes it hard to call ahead :((.

The food is just ok, very overpriced for what it is. It’s basic Japanese, neither of the meals stood out. Sushi got very thin slices of fish and lots of rice - poor man’s sushi. Which is ok really but not at this price point

It’s okay. They’re a little on the slow side. I would not return unless it was clear they had decided to put more effort into what they do. The sushi in the Bento Box was very disappointing - all seafood stick or something.

No attention to detail paid to the food which is a pre-requisite for Japanese food. Chunks of spring onion in the miso soup. Tofu steaks had an overly sweet sauce on them. Probably the same sauce as on the nasu dengaku. The eggplant was not quite cooked enough. The restaurant itself has no atmosphere at all and it is very shabby and has an unpleasant musty smell.

Woeful service. I was here at 7:30pm on Monday night but staff didn’t know what the special on the blackboard was. When I paid didn’t know what types of credit cards accepted. Had chicken katsu and it wasn’t any better than from a university campus take away. They had Katy Perry playing on loop to for that authentic Japanese dining experience.

Too small portions. The sashimi is unbelievably thin. Not taste good.

I've booked a table for 2 via Groupon for this place. However, i was very sick on the day, so i went into the booking to cancel the booking and hopefully, i can re-book it at another time. I've done this with other restaurants that i've bought from Groupon and they were ok. They accepted my change. Only this place, they marked my Groupon as redeemed. I'm very unhappy with this, asked Groupon to help rectifying the issue. Groupon instructed me to call restaurant directly for re-booking. I've called the restaurant and they said they will get back to me as they were busy.. I'm still waiitng for them to get back and i am not going to let this go..
So Mibaya management, if you are reading this, check with your staff and get back to me.

Thank you
Ai

STAY AWAY!

The worst Japanese restaurant I have ever had in Melbourne, we waited for almost an hour for the dishes, although there was only a few customers here, we ordered sushi and Japanese hotpot and they tasted bloody terrible. Ewwwww.

I ordered a platter and 4 maki packs with a seafood pack and was told it would take 40 minutes. I went there a little after and waited another 20 minutes to only be given a seaweed salad and when I discussed what was ordered, which is what I usually order, I was told it would take another 15 minute and O has to pay another $1.50. I challenged the customer service and found the service to be much better when the owner is present and not on leave. But if you have to order anything that is not already prepared, my experience has been long waiting times when I have used this venue.

This is an authentic and good quality Japanese restaurant. Service was friendly and the atmosphere was nice. Food was delicious and was presented immaculately. I would recommend coming if you enjoy sashimi and Japanese sweets

Armadalians have kept this as a local treasure...so probably shouldn't publicise! Great - FRESH - food at unbelievably reasonable pricing. Place to meet friends and know that no one will be embarrassed re the price. My friends call Mibaya 'cheap and cheerful' - the owner always greets you with a big smile! My favourite is the Bento box, sushi and sashimi. Everything is always so fresh and yummy - you feel like it's home cooking (well better than my home cooking!).

I asked Miyaba to cater for my daughter's 21st being held at home. From the entrees to the main course, they were ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT. Took the whole hassle away from the night. Food was available exactly on time and guests commented on how wonderful the entire dinner was...was such a great decision to ask Mibaya to cater...they even carved a '21' as decoration - who goes to that amount of detail these days! Also couldn't believe how reasonably priced the night was for 30 people.

This restaurant is ultra contradictory, the food is absolutely amazing, very fresh and clearly made in house. However the restaurant itself seems like a cheap take away joint and the staff weren't attentive at all. I would totally recommend this place for a great meal but wouldn't say it is the best establishment itself

Impressive quaint little restaurant. Couldn't believe that dishes were so cheap. And good quality too for the price. Well worth the visit. Had an assortment of dishes to share... all were pretty tasty and fresh. Loved the presentation too.

Service was wonderful, really delicious sushi! Highly recommend the chicken there. I will be back for more! Absolutely loved it. Cute little set up in a great spot

I have eaten in store countless times they have great sushi and bento boxes but I got home delivery for the first time and it was awful, probably the most disgusting food i've ever eaten i had to throw it out and it ruined my whole night. Now i'm in a bad mood and have wasted a ot of time brooding about the horrible taste and the waste of money. i'm never going back! The noodles tasted like msg and were over cooked and way too sweet and the vegetables were soggy.

Poor service, another Japanese run by chinese ... The fish fillets tasted burnt from frying pan ... 1 point for healthy steamed veggie and 0.5 for decors ☹️

Delicious food and Affordable. The restaurant is really nice and cosy and makes you feel at home. Can't wait to get back and try some more dishes

Such a shame this place doesn't get more credit!
I get my lunch here every Saturday and occasionally come for dinner.
Ansen is softly spoken, friendly and hard working.
The team here don't always understand you, but they're always smiling, polite and I find this charming.
It isn't fine dining or a glamorous place, but it's cosy and I know I'll always get super fresh sashimi and great food.
I can say the entire menu is good (I've had it all) and the prices are even better!
I definitely recommend this place for lunch or a casual dinner.

They dont deliver at lunch time service despite saying they do.
No frills restaurant but good wholesome food with lovely customer service. We've been severe times ad are always happy when we leave.

Really disappointed with the California Roll here. I was looking for quality Japanese food, but I should have just driven to Suzuran in Camberwell 20 minutes away. Instead I wasted money at this awful place. Never coming back.

STAY AWAY! Revolting.. The food is not fresh. None of it was fresh. I couldn't finish my food. The meat was oily and the oil tasted gross, as if it was recycled. Staff were Chinese so it's not authentic. This review is scathing because of how bad this place was. The ratings of this place are either fake or people living in this area love stale, unclean and nasty food. I actually feel like taking a shower, that's how bad it was. To give you some perspective, I eat out all the time and this is in my top five worst eat outs ever.

Cheap and Delicious. We came in tonight and had a great meal that was only $40!

We had the teriyaki chicken which was a huge plate of chicken with loads of vegetables in a delicious teriyaki sauce. I had the eye fillet with ginger and soy and this was a large serve of juicy tender strips of beef in
a gorgeous ginger sauce with lots of broccoli, carrots and sweet onions.

With a couple of drinks and some rice it was one of the cheapest meals ever in our home area.

I'll definitely be back as it's cheaper than cooking and the quality was great.

Worst bento box I've had in Melbourne so far! Huge portion of rice, not much chicken and the spring rolls and sushi was disgusting- to the point of leaving a bad taste in my mouth! I'm sorry, the staff were lovely, but I wouldn't go back here.
