Best breakfast at Artamon, The food is tasty, and the coffee is fantastic. I will come back for sure!

First time I’ve been to The Wilkes with my wife and kids and I can definitely tell you that I will be back. I had the Soft Shell Crab Pasta and it was amazing with an Asahi Beer. The kids had a burger to share and I was so busy talking with the owner I have no idea what my Mrs had. So the food was great and the owner was really friendly. Positioned right next to Artarmon Station it’s the perfect place to stop for some breakfast or lunch. Thank you for the wonderful experience at your cafe.

Had the pleasure of finding this treasure next to Atarman station. First things I noticed was the incredible friendliness of Dana, she showed genuine care and catered her recommendations to our exact preferences which ended up in a wonderful meal! They provide a good serving size and great food! Incredients are fresh and I Highly recommend this Cafe when passing by or even as a nice date. Also had the pleasure of meeting Daen, the owner who works hard and was also super friendly! Tip: ask your chips to be extra crispy 👌👍👍 Thanks for the lovely meal and customer service! Until next time 😊!

Must be my favorite Cafe in Sydney. The new coffee company P&R is becoming more and more popular and The Wilkes did the right choice. Owner always take good care of every customer, and baristas, chefs always provide high quality foods or coffees. Highly recommend!

Went for breakfast. The larger menu at the door that they use to entice people in is old as it has cheaper prices than the actual menu once you sit down. Like $3-4 per dish. When I pointed it out to the waitress she she just stared at me. Update your sidewalk menu please - that's misleading and false advertising.

The breakfast lunch menu is great here. The service is relaxed. The Cuban sandwich was really good, the pork meat in it was succulent. Add a side of chips to your meal, they're damn good. Definitely more affordable than most cafes then overpriced chatswood. Do not follow google maps directions if driving. It will take you to the back alley. Put the destination as Elizabeth Street

Had an amazing family dinner at The Wilkes last night. Delicious cocktails, bread board charcuterie platter, huge mains and heaps of gluten free & vege options. Super friendly staff - a great evening!

This is a great cafe/restaurant- it's quite new but is already an institution. Tim who is the owner is a genius with his customer service and does a great job at making everyone feel welcome: whether it be whilst grabbing a takeaway coffee in the morning or during the dinner service. I highly recommend 'The Wilkes' over the neighbouring Cafe/restaurants (although the others are quite good too!)

Perfect for coffee and toast, brunch, lunch or even the odd date night dinner. Coffee is good, food great and the service is fantastic. It's our go-to local cafe.

Have always loved the breakfast selection at the Wilkes, never been disappointed. Then I had the burger for lunch, delicious. I will not be eating burgers anywhere else, the best in Sydney. So glad this is my local.

Always great service, fine food and the best coffee in the Lower Nth Shore. Also their salted caramel and peanut butter milkshake is amazing!

We always love the coffee and food at Wilkes. It is so clear that Tim takes great pride in this cafe. We also love having a cheeky wine here after work. A great place to meet friends, or just to sit along and watch people walking by.

I love my local, but so do so many who aren't locals. The Wilkes is well known for it's great food, atmosphere and customer service. Tim the manager knows everyone and makes you feel like family. Food is superb no matter what time of day you eat there.

Fantastic atmosphere, amazing food, wonderful owner and staff. I love it

I've never found a place where I get served too much Nutella......until today

Excellent coffee, amazing 'to die for' cakes, great breakfasts (haven't tried the lunch as yet), friendly & welcoming service, tasteful & quirky decor and great atmosphere! A very welcome addition to Artarmon.

great food and service the servings are very fair, big breakfat rocks and the coffee is outstanding. thanks for making my fathers day a memorable one.

Always friendly staff, prompt and efficient service. One of the best avocado smashes (Avocado Stack) I've had! I'm glad they changed it, it used to have oil drizzled all over it which turned me off but they updated the menu and evidently improved the dish. 5/5

had a light meal with kids late evening sitting outside on a bit tilted ground but doesn't really bother. cannot give average 3 star simply because of the food we had wasn't as tasty as I normally get. maybe I had dinner prior wasn't hungry at all. my kid got a few mozzi bites but it didn't count for the rating.

The food here is friggin awesome :D I highly reccomend the avocado toast and chocolate shake. Will definitely go again, even if it is a little on the pricey side.

Reliably good breakfast and coffee. Service is always quick and very friendly. Never had a bad coffee from here. My go to place im the north shore and recommend to all.

This is our typical post climb breakfast. It is what gets us out of bed. Our favourate dishes are the hash benedict, corn fritters and the salted caramel peanut butter milkshakes are amazing. ( dont expect heaps of topping) the flavour is what makes it stand out.

Great little cafe in Artarmon. Staff are super friendly and the food is simple and delicious. Recommend the Hash Benedict any day of the week.

I'm gonna start with...they've got the famous Marco Pierre White print framed up in the middle of the dining area...so you know their aspiring to the right chef or at least praying to the right one :)

What you get here is just honest cooking with no frills. This is simple food done well exemplified. So if you want to actually reward your taste buds and not your stupid camera...here's your place!

Sadly this place is likely gonna become one of those forgotten gems as it's not what the instagram market is
looking for...not saying the plating is sloppy but just we don't have the wow/gimmick factor of fairy floss and cheese crisps...
Not bad, not great, very cold and funky in design and daily prompt service. For corner shop style café they did well. Poached eggs were very good, tea was strong and excellent. Size of bread and bacon was huge. Good job!

Food is very nice here. Was about to go to salvage for coffee and breakfast. But they closed very early, so moved to here for brunch/lunch. Ordered the chili chicken and beef burger~ the chicken schnitzel with avocado is a very good combination. The brioche burger is a star! And very friendly service!!!

I have been to this cafe several times and have loved it every time. I bring friends and family here and they love it too. For what you're getting, the prices are good, the staff are always incredibly friendly and the location off the street makes it a nice place to sit and chat and enjoy the meal/coffee.
Specifically, I highly recommend the burgers.
Issac_eatsalot
Wasn't sure what to expect, I hadn't heard much about them but the staff were super friendly. French toast brioche could have been soaked a little longer. Dry in the middle, but.the accompaniments were lovely.

This is a great little cafe just by Artarmon train station, which is close by my gym, so during the week I will stop by and get a drink from here and on the weekends I like to get breakfast. The owner Tim is great! Super friendly and seems to know all his customers by name. The food is great, definitely recommend it to anyone living in the area to try it out :)

I've been going here for over a year now and the coffee is always on point. Staff are always willing to change and add to the menu to suit your needs.
The meals are always made from fresh ingredients and the quality can be tasted. I recommend it anytime when you're in Artarmon.

A cute little café in Artamon, literally a few steps away from the station. Very friendly staff and good quality ingredients. Thought the superfood salad was a bit exxy for a salad, but it was a decent size. Got a ton of good stuff in it, and the kale was actually tasty which I don’t find is always the case. I am not a fan of fruit and vegetables mixed together, and I still would have preferred no fruit, but this was an okay combo. Vitality juice was refreshing and tasty.

Good spot for coffee in Artarmon in little Tokyo, funky atmosphere and friendly service, has more ambience on this side of the railway line. A cute little cafe.

The Wilkes shows an obvious passion for what they do through the attention to detail in their food and coffee. The Bircher looks beautiful and tastes just as nice and the poached eggs on house made hash brown is legitimately special. If you're looking for a cafe in Artarmon that makes you walk away with a smile on your face this is where to go.

The potato hash and breakkie burger are delicious. Kind staff that are professional and quick this is a great place for a bite to eat in north Sydney

Visited for breakfast on a rainy day and fortunately for us, the venue inside was warm and toasty. The coffee was good and the food was decent. Staff were super friendly and all in all had a pleasant experience.

What a fantastic place it was! The food was incredible. We ordered the Bacon Hash and the Wilkes Beef burger, both of which were fantastic. The coffee's were also excellent. The staff was great, with the girl serving us with a smile and having a nice chat. definitley will be coming back

Nice menu, with an all day breakfast and lunch items with great coffee.
Food is tasty and well presented but it is very slow to arrive to the table but worth the wait..
Staff are friendly though could do with some simple dress standards eg clean shoes and not with their underwear showing.
Sushi
Local cafe next to the station with the best coffee and friendly barista! Had the Mushroom, Avocado and Morcilla sausage breakfast which was fantastic, and the Reuben sandwich is the best in the world. The staff are always friendly and the coffee is consistently good. Definitely coming back again and again.

Took ages for the food to come out, maybe 30 minutes. When it did it was decent overall. The pulled pork tasted a bit too sweet and Asian for our liking. The burger was tasty with a good brioche bun.
Foodasociety
Nice little lunch spot for a lazy weekend. The barista greets you from a far, good coffee. A bit expensive with burgers being $19 but make up for it for it's large portion sizes.
Rob
The Wilkes is a great place for breakfast on a sunny day....service is quick and sometimes a little over the top with politeness...but quick food, coffee barista who i think owns the place is great...and "gets it". Definitely add it to your list

Recommended by a friend and stalking them on Zomato, I came in today for lunch. I had the Pulled pork sandwich and Snickers and Nutella milkshake. Both were well done. Highlight of my meal was the pulled pork as it was so soft and juicy. 10/10 would recommend someone to try it. The Snickers and Nutella milkshake was pretty good although not exactly the best I've had. I liked that it wasn't too sweet either. My friend ordered the Wilkes burger so I got to try some of the chips that came with it. They were good but not amazing. However I do appreciate that they were hot and crispy. The sauce that came with it seemed a bit too watery.

Staff are friendly and welcoming beginning from the very moment we stepped inside. They also allow split bills (yay!). It's a perfect place for a Sunday brunch with friends/family. Overall a very good experience, I would come back again to try other items on the menu.

Stalked them on instagram for a while and decided that it was time to visit. They have indoor and outdoor seating with the outdoor they have heaters but they also supply blankets to keep you toasty :).

Indoor interior is a mixture of all sorts - which i think adds to its charm. The barista mentioned that he gets most of the various items from an antique shop in Redfern. The tables are covered in gloss newspaper style prints mostly black and white with some colour - very interesting.

The barista is very friendly and chatty - i forgot to get his name.

Ordered a cappachino and the Mushroom Bruschetta - Roast mushroom, pumpkin puree, proscuitto, pesto and eggs. WoW! Amazing!

Didn't have to wait too long also for the meal. By the time i left all tables indoors was taken and they had a few people waiting on take aways.

After ordering i noted that they serve milo milkshakes and freshly squeezed juices! Will definitely have to come back to try those and their warm winter salads.

Overall, great first time visit! Will be back!

Part of an ever improving range of offers in Wilkes Ave Artarmon, I popped in for lunch - a generous, delicious Reuben with a side served of crispy on the outside - soft in the inside beer battered chips. Friendly service, relaxed and welcoming. There are some intriguing options on the menu (both breakfast and lunch) and I will be back to check more of them out soon.

{ _anne_with_an_e // review }
Situated amongst mainly Japanese restaurants on the tiny eating strip next to Artarmon station, it’s nice to see a new cafe addition. Being new it is still in its teething-phase, but the service was still nice and friendly.

We had the beef burger with fries, smashed avocado and coffees. The beef burger was fantastic and overall a delicious meal. The standout was the patty, which was really tasty and had that real beef flavour. The smashed avocado was also great, with a generous serving of avocado.

The coffees are just ok, but although we didn’t order their shakes they looked pretty darn impressive. It’s nice to see they had quite a few seats both inside and out. The décor is funky but maybe a tad too busy, considering the open kitchen.

Must haves // beef burger
Pros // tasty food, friendly service
Cons // busy interior

Food: 4/5
Ambience: 3.5/5
Service: 3/5
