This place is great! More convenient for large groups and people than Chatswood! The food is still the same great quality, prices and service as at Chatswood. It’s also super convenient as it is so close to the train station. Love this place!!😋😋😛

This place is one of many restaurants nestled in this small area next to the train station. There is always people about walking around, eating and shopping for Japanese groceries and items. I came here for lunch after gym (so I was very hungry), craving for noodles and warm soup (despite the hot weather).

I've eaten at the Chatswood store so many times and since many many years ago I cannot even remember when. When I used to live nearby, it was one of my favourite spots. The Artarmon store doesn't seem as inviting for some reason (maybe because it's split in two and hard to see when the food/waiters are around). It was painfully slow on a Sunday, perhaps there was only one chef or two, but we saw people around us who had been there for quite some time, receive their food long after we sat down. I always enjoy their food so it was still nice, but most likely I will visit the Chatswood branch over this one.

We were here a few times in the past. The first time we were here had to be 2 years ago, the food was painfully slow, it might be because it was a public holiday and the place was quite packed. The last time we were here was yesterday (2nd July, 2017) for Sunday lunch. THe service was very prompt and the lunch combo menu was a good deal. you basically get 2 small dishes for 18 dollars, for example 6 pieces of Salmon sushi roll with fried pork cutlet. Or a small rice bowl with vegetable tempura udon. I have always loved their sushi roll and sashimi, the serving size of the mains are also very satisfying. I think food at their Chatswood store taste better.

Pretty good japanese rest and the price is decent although on the exxy side for the portion you receive

Need to get rolls in order to get full, love the smokey salmon roll and rainbow roll

The sashimi is also great especially scampi and make sure you get the miso soup for it

Recommend for a group dinner

Nice sushi for a good price. Friendly service and food was presented nicely. The quality of the food does range a bit though, but it is mostly good.

Sushi-Ya is a cute little corner restaurant off the side of Artarmon station. We arrived and were seated at a table that hadn't been cleaned yet. I think the restaurant was understaffed last night so we actually cleared the dirty plates onto the edge of the table and grabbed the menus ourselves. After waiting 15 minutes we were served.

We ordered the Agedashi Tofu, Tsukune, Beef Tataki with special sauce, Yakitori, Salmon Don and the Prawn and Lobster sushi roll.

Despite the long wait to order, the food came out quite quickly. All the food was very fresh and tasty. We particularly enjoyed the Tsukune and Beef Tataki and will definitely be ordering them the next time we come back.

Overall a very enjoyable meal. There were many dishes that we were tempted to order, so we'll definitely be back to try more. I'm just hoping next time we go we can be served more promptly.

Situated quietly in a cul de sac by Artarmon station, Sushi Ya was probably one of the first sushi places in Artarmon. Although there have been mixed reviews about the service and food of late, my visit at lunch didn’t show any signs of the negative feedback. I couldn’t say much about the service during busy periods because I was the first one there but it was attentive as it needed to be and no mistakes were made.

There was a set combo menu and a special bento box for lunch that was pretty good value. I chose the set combo with the salmon sushi and pork and chicken katsu. The salmon was fresh and there were five pieces of well sized sushi as well as three mini salmon nori rolls. The chicken katsu was coated in panko and fried perfectly crisp while moist inside. The Pokr was marinated well and the flavours came through as it was fried to a similar standard as the chicken. There was a Dijon mustard, mayo and katsu sauce that had the distinct Worcestershire sauce come through. The accompanying salad was fresh with a beautifully refreshing carrot ginger dressing.

The entire dish was very good because every single element shone. If their other food was cooked to this standard, there should be no reason why people would complain; about the food at least…

I have been a massive fan of this restaurant since I was a child. Food is amazing and staff are always friendly and very good customer service. These days, food menu seems to be changing...I am looking forward to seeing new menu soon!!!  Photo: Chef's special with three small dishes (Lobster & Prown salad, marinaded sashimi and jellyfish)

Consistently good Japanese.  They have the variety of an Izakaya and when busy can be a bit of a wait for the food but it's well worth it.  The staff are always helpful and having to run between the two venues seems to work out.  I was a little surprised to find such a spot in Artarmon.

The Best sushi rolls and chicken katsu is made here. Everything is always so fresh when i visit this place and customer service is very quick. Try to get there early as they can get quite busy at lunch times.

I love here Sushi rolls! (avocado, prawn, salmon) Very fresh and tasty. And the price is not so bad. I tried others but the Sushi rolls is the best. I had Sushi many times in Japan(As I grew up in Tokyo!) and the one I ordered is fresh and yummy as what I had before.

I wasn't expecting much, but Sushi-Ya turned out to be a pleasant surprise, serving authentic and delicious Japanese cuisine. Japanese food is my favourite cuisine, and having lived and eaten in Japan for four years, I am pretty picky about the food quality, particularly with sushi and sashimi. This place meets my standard and gets our thumbs up.

Very Poor. I have been 3 times now as I live next door. The service is non-existent. One time, only 2 mains out of 3 were actually served [despite being charged all three] and the last time they forgot to bring the only bottle of wine out we ordered - but again tried to charge us and it almost lead to an argument when paying. I will never make the mistake and go back a fourth time

Decent Japanese restaurant with an extensive menu and quick service. BYO wine 🍷 and decently priced sushi 🍣. Easy to get a table on the weekend (Sunday) and great location right next to Artamon station. Worth a visit!

Love this place for simple and good Japanese food. No wait on a Sunday night and spent $75 for 3 people (no drinks). Although food was a bit slow in coming out I still go here fairly regularly!

Very nice. I had the karaage; very crispy, lots of chicken, lots of soy flavour. It's a shame there's only a small dollop of mayonnaise and no free additions.

Lovely fresh sashimi as per Artarmons high standards. They also have large shaded outdoor seating, rare for Japanese restaurants, and are super dog friendly (they offered my dog a drink). Great for people watching too!
