We always order a selection of fresh seafood dishes here, that keep us coming back for more. Steamed barramundi is always a favourite. It’s a simple dish with yummy fish fillet, sauce and greens. The East Meets West Viet BBQ chicken is also a winner! The marinated chicken is perfectly tender. Shaker Squid is one of the best calamari I’ve had! Beautifully tender, crisp batter and a delightful lemon dressing. Also... how good are coconuts?
Very happy to find this great little place close to home, although the food at their other location in Richmond is just as great. Wonderful service and a lovely courtyard outside. Will definitely be back.

I was so excited to finally visit Saigon Soul in Ascot Vale. After an amazing experience at their sister restaurant, Minh Minh in Richmond, I went with high expectations, and I wasn’t disappointed!
The restaurant is cute and cosy, and the staff are very friendly.
We started off with some coconut juice straight from the coconut - always my favourite! It’s good that they cut the coconut top open so that you can eat the coconut flesh too!
Moving on to the starters - we had the Lalot and Chicken Skewers. The Lalot is so delicious - there’s just something about the beef in vine leaf that I love. The chicken skewers were huge, with large pieces of tender chicken and pineapple too! Best with the sweet and creamy satay sauce.
The Soft Shell Crab Coleslaw was one of my favourites. I loved how ‘meaty’ the soft-shell crab was, and it wasn’t just all batter (as a lot fo places do). The sriracha mayo style dressing was so addictive!
The Pho Curry Laksa was amazing. Don’t expect your typical laksa in this - the broth is more mild and sweeter. I loved the idea of combining pho noodles with a creamy broth! So warming and hearty.
The Crazy Chicken Ribs has to be one of my all-time favourites - the ribs are so crispy on the outside, and tender and juicy on the inside. The Tom-Yum style sauce sweet, tangy and spicy - and it’s so damn addictive. It’s a must order!
The Insane Fish was another highlight - I loved the sweet and salty flavours combined with the crispy and flakey fish. Couldn’t stop eating this!
I honestly didn’t expect too much from the South-East-Asia-Prawn, but boy was I wrong! I loved the sauce so much, and the prawns were cooked very well too. Faultless!
Overall, I had an incredible experience at Saigon Soul. If you’re in the area, it’s a must try! I can’t recommend it enough.

Comfy surroundings, with a large selection of traditional Vietnamese dishes to choose from, Saigon Soul is definitely one to add to your list if you live out in the west.
The noodle dishes are full of flavour without being too heavy which is exactly how Vietnamese food should be. The chicken ribs and dumplings were delicious and a welcome change to the more traditional dishes.
Loved the fresh young coconut drink on offer too!
Staff were friendly and service was top notch. Will be back if I'm in the area again.

This is such a cute little spot in the heart of ascot vale, the interior just feels so homey and welcoming, with little posters from Vietnam stuck up on the wall and welcoming staff that are attentive and kind.
We had an absolute feast at this place starting with chilled coconuts which were absolutely delicious and the perfect cooling accompaniment to our sweet, salty and spicy mixture of dishes!
Entrees consisted of Prawn dumplings, Lalog and Duck springrolls. These were the most amazing dishes to start our night off. The perfect balance of saltiness from the lalog, sweetness from the dumplings and a crunchy element coming from the spring rolls.
Mains consisted of barra fillet, shaker squid, east meets west chicken and a spicy prawn dish. These were consistently good, my partner and I found ourselves fighting over the last piece of shaker squid and east meets west chicken, safe to say those were our favourite. We were completely defeated towards the end of it- but not before we had dessert, which was a fried banana fritter served with icecream. It was the perfect end to an absolutely amazing Vietnamese feast.
Could not fault anything about this place, definitely check it out, especially if you're a fan of \Vietnamese food! You would be doing yourself a disservice if you didn't.

The vietnamese fried chicken and soft shell crab was on point, and they were finger licking good. The grandma beef was cooked to perfection and the flavours were simply amazing. Loved how the dishes were pumped with flavours and they were so fresh.
They do have an amazing range of vegan and vegetarian options. To bring to meal to another level, be sure to use the zomato gold 1+1 deal. How do you say no to the same satisfaction for fraction of the price!
What a gem this place is! This is such a great restaurant with a nice menu, lovely staff and delicious food. The restaurant was packed by the time I left which means one thing - It is so gooood!
My friend and I started with the chicken wings which were so tasty, the skin had a nice crisp on it. We also had the soft shell crab too which was just so divine, the spicy sriracha gave it a really nice zing! The taste of the crab was fresh and it was really yum. For mains we shared the Grandma Beef which was cooked beautifully, the marinade was on point. The South East Asia Prawns were just so amazing, omg so delish. I loved the spices that were used for this dish, it took me back to Asia.
This is such a great restaurant and if you are thinking of visiting I highly recommend it. Thank you for the invite, we had a great time!
One of my favourite Vietnamese places to eat, constant specials on the walls with friendly nice staff. Food was really well seasoned and cooked quickly. Surprising, interesting menu.

Not a bad place, the food was very flavoursome. Too bad we couldn’t use the gold zomato because it only applies to their dinner menu. Other than that, their lunch menu was great, $12 meal which also came with a drink.

Came to Saigon Soul for dinner on Saturday night on the relatively quiet end of Ascot Vale.
Difficult to park on the main street but we found a parking lot near the side round behind the restaurant after driving around the block. Small restaurant with limited seating. Friendly service. They have quite a number of interesting item son the menu, felt like a fusion between Chinese, Thai and Vietnamese cuisine. After going back and forth a few times, we settled on East meet West grilled chicken and Char Xiu Pad Viet. Both dishes were full of flavour and beautifully presented, generous portion too. Staff was friendly and attentive. Definitely will return soon to try the other dishes that have interesting names like Grandma Beef or Lucky Lucky Duck!
Felt like Pho and decided to go local. This place did not disappoint. The roti was light and fluffy and the pho was full of flavour. Will definitely be going back!

Saigon Soul is an iconic Vietnamese eatery located in Ascot Vale. The venue exudes informality, with the large space accented by rustic finishes. In line with its social setting, the menu items are primarily designed for sharing, with dishes divided into user friendly sections. The menu is abundant with options and features flavoursome dishes inspired by traditional Vietnamese and Chinese recipes.
Frequent this place, and for good reason. The staff are incredibly friendly and accomodating, the restaurant itself has a very cosy decor and is never too loud to hold a conversation, most importantly though the food is incredibly tasty and very reasonably priced. Would recommend this place to anyone looking for a meal that will definitely satisfy and leave you feeling content with a full belly.

We were invited back to this excellent Vietnamese restaurant last night and really enjoyed the freshness of the flavours combined with some truly knockout sauces. We chose several entrees starting with the beef lalot, a more traditional dish which had a crispy little casing and loads of flavour.
Followed by the prawn dumplings which was plump and bursting with a generous filling and the chicken and pineapple skewers (taking the option to add the satay sauce) the sauce had a good kick so the sweetness of the pineapple worked really well.
Main wise we tried the south East Asian prawns, perfectly cooked prawns with a lovely marinade comprised of garlic, ginger and fish sauce. The shaker shaker squid which was described as salt and pepper but had a lovely sweetness to it via the dressing. This was accompanied by a vibrant fresh little salad.
Our final item was the beef pad viet which had noodles, beef and a coleslaw which was something a bit different. This is quite a spicy dish so I sipped a fresh coconut to temper the heat. We were overall very impressed by the variety of dishes we sampled tonight and would definitely recommend it

We were invited to Saigon Soul on Monday and I must say I was hugely impressed. As soon as I walked in I got a really warm vibe and absolutely loved the interior with the twinkling fairy lights in the covered outdoor seated area and the beautiful photos on the wall which just about took you to Vietnam. I sat there sipping my fresh coconut absolutely loving life!
We tried the yummy roti bread with peanut sauce and the quail as well as the chicken skewers to round out the small dishes. The skewers were a really interesting dish with the grilled pineapple on there and I thoroughly enjoyed the flavours.
Main wise we had the crispy squid with lemon pepper sauce which was very tasty and I really liked the rather unique and bold flavour of the sauce. The East meets West was a grilled chicken dish which presented beautifully and satisfied my healthy eating husband.
One of the stand outs was the beef pad viet. The soft rice noodles were fabulous and while the satay sauce was quite spicy for my palette I was enjoying it so much I willingly continued to set my mouth on fire. An unassuming little place that thoroughly exceeded my expectations
Absolutely authentic Vietnamese food with a very rustic and real feel about it. Every came with generous serves and mind blowing flavours. Ascot Vale isn’t really known for their restaurants/cafes but Saigon Soul will be a leader to attention

This small Vietnamese restaurant in the Union Road village of Ascot Vale offers really interesting food, a few steps above the average cheaper fare of many Footscray and Richmond Vietnamese restaurants.
The husband and wife team construct interesting food and being a small place, the food is fresh. Vegan and gluten free diners are catered for.
We arrived about 9 pm on a week night and were warmly greeted.
We shared the chicken fresh rice paper rolls packed with red cabbage, lettuce, basil and toasted peanuts . Fresh and generous serve.
My partner had the Prawn Dumplings Pho Noodle soup. Wonderful fresh flavours throughout and a number of large prawn dumplings.
I had the ‘East meets West’ ( gluten free). It is grilled marinated chicken with chilli, garlic and lemongrass, topped with mixed herbs. It was very good but next time I’d share this and have a serve of vegetables or salad to go with the chicken. That night, this dish was a daily special and substantially below the normal price.
On Monday to Wednesday, there are chef’s specials which are discounted.
We brought our own wine for a small charge. Their wine menu is a small range but interesting from smaller vineyards and very reasonably priced.
Will definitely return.
One of the best Vietnamese grilled chicken i have ever had in Melbourne. Their East meet West chicken deserves a double thumbs up. Their beef in beetle leaves are also very tasty. Unfortunately the same cannot be said for their roti. It didn't look fresh and the satay sauce tasted somewhat artificial. Still though this is a great place to have lunch/dinner.
Drove by this restaurant almost everyday and never had the thought of stopping by. Finally did it one night and it is a gem! Went with the most traditional dish - Pho beef and my partner had Pho beef curry laksa. Saigon soul probably has the best beef (as compared to all the other Vietnamese restaurant we have tried), tender and juicy, though the broth can be better. We enjoyed ourselves very much.
Personally not usually a fan of Asian Fusion restaurants but this place has gone above and beyond in the quality of their food along with the presentation. The service is great and the venue itself is clean and well presented with a backyard court area along with a dimly lit (but appropriately so) front area.
Have tried the curry laksa, prawn dumplings, pho noodle soup, wonton noodle soup, prawn dumpling soup and the east meets west. Highly recommend all the dishes, however just a warning to anyone wanting to try the laksa here to not expect it to be quite like lksa but a lot milder. Great place.

Delicious!!! The prawn dumplings, beef bun and especially the chicken east meets west were all fantastic! That chicken though.. the bomb! Can't wait to come back here, really glad it's so close to home and so delicious! Highly recommend. Service super friendly.
Date night dinner and I was tasked with picking the feed, was in the mood for some Pho and Vietnamese food and ohhhhh my gawd did we strike gold with Saigon Soul !!
I can't say I have had better Vietnamese food, from the get go with the beef pho accompanied with a serve of the pork spring rolls we were already licking our lips but then came the main event..... East meets West Grilled chicken with chilli, Garlic and lemongrass which came with this amazing dipping sauce and then the Hero dish of Crazy chicken ribs, fried chicken ribs in tum-yum sauce with a side of Coleslaw..... we were in heaven !!
Saigon Soul far exceed expectation and I'm already questioning when we will be returning for round 2, I'm eyeing that lucky lucky duck and grandma's beef.
Food is tasty service is good, serves are on the small side though so if you’re thinking about it,order an extra dish. The weeknight specials are good too!
The hospitality that my friends and I received last night at Saigon Soul was amazing. The food was out of this world. If you have the chance, sit at the courtyard with your mates. The environment that they have created is stunning. Will definitely be back.

Excellent little joint. We thought of ordering individual dishes but then realised the banquet was quite reasonable and we could try a few things. We had dimsum, fried chicken, street fried pork, east meets west and curry. The pick for us was the pork and it was a lot of food which for us was hard to finish. Great service. Have been many times since our first visit.
We ordered chilli beef pho soup and a vegetarian curry laksa pho soup. The curry laksa was not very authentic but the food are quite good! The staff service is outstanding and very friendly and easy to communicate:)
Went there for a surprise date night with my partner the other week. We were delighted to see the extent of gluten free options on the menu. Lovely and friendly staff took our order and we didn’t wait long. Food came out and it was extremely yummy! Every dish was delicious and we left feeling satisfied and happy

Saigon Soul was the first Vietnamese restaurant I have ever tried and overall, it provided me with a positive experience. The presentation was a stand out as the dishes included vibrant colours and the “Grandma Beef” dish was wrapped in foil that was lit with fire.
The dishes were also very tasty and fresh. My favourite was the chicken skewers with pineapple and satay sauce. The chicken has a crispy sear on the outside and was very tender and juicy inside. The pineapple added a sweet element to the dish which I thoroughly enjoyed.
However, I thought that the san choy bau was not as enjoyable as previous ones I have tried and I do not recommend wearing white when you eat this as the sauce runs everywhere.
Amazing vietnamese food. Modern dishes packed with flavour. Chili Beef Pho was tasty with the perfect amount of spice.
Where this place shone though was through the amount of flavour in the VFC chicken wings and the Crispy Barra Fillet which was served on a bed of coleslaw (new addition to the menu). The lime dipping sauce for the fish was amazing, pairing perfectly with the stacks of chili hiding in the slaw.
Friendly staff, great food and free chupa chups at the counter on the way out. What's not to love!
This place is definitely the hidden jem of the area. The food is well presented, tastes sensational and when you match that up with great service you get a lovely place to have a meal. Can’t wait to go back and try more things on the menu.

A modest cafe, flavoursome food and lovely staff. Glad we decided to try this place against the mighty Vietnamese joints in Footscray (I love all of them though).
Their lunch menu has multiple options and the prices are very reasonable. As a vegetarian, I struggle to find a great bowl of Pho but I think I’ve finally found one.

Really enjoyed our meal at Saigon Soul! My favourites were the crazy chicken ribs (spicy crispy chicken ribs with tum yum sauce and coleslaw) seriously so good and so much flavour! I also really enjoyed the east meet west (grilled chicken with chilli, garlic, lemongrass and coleslaw). Would definitely come back again! So glad it's in the west side.
I usually don't leave St Albans for good Viet food but I am really glad I went to Saigon Soul.
Steamed prawn dumplings (4pcs/$12) - Had a super plump and juicy filling but I would've preferred a tad more sweet soy sauce because it was yummy all together
Pad Viet ($18) - A Thai/Viet fusion I thought was really creative. Loved the satay flavour throughout the dish.
East Meet West ($19) - Super succulent grilled chicken. It had a lot of flavour jam packed there!
Mini pho soup ($6) - Probably one of my less favourite dishes of the night but still a refreshing broth.
The portions were quite generous and service was great. They were really friendly and helpful. Thanks for having us, Saigon Soul!
This place belongs in the city. Great food. Caters to Gluten Free. Small and intimate surroundings. Probably won't be a "hidden gem" for too long.
Simply delicious, satisfying Vietnamese food. Extensive menu caters for dietary requirements (GF, vegetarian, vegan)....in fact, they have a whole section of the menu dedicated to vegan dishes. Highly recommend the pad-Viet with the homemade sauce....sooooo good!
Amazing food! My favourite restaurant in Melbourne. We had the bbq chicken ( east meets west ) and stir fried prawns .. both were to die for. Excellent customer service as well.
Asked a local where was a good place for lunch and this was their recommendation. Vietnamese in Ascot Vale. We found a table and ordered drinks while we chose our food. First was Crazy chicken ribs in a yumm sauce and Shaker calamari with a delicious dipping sauce.
Our mains were stir fry greens and a rich, flavoursome Prawn Dumlings pho.
The pho was a good size serve and delicately flavoured and garnished.
Service was efficient and quick.
We would definitely return.

I was a bit hesitant having to venture to the other side of town just for some Vietnamese but my friends that lived close to Ascot Vale were going on a holiday so I thought it would be best to catch up with them before they left
The interior was very charming and cozy, lighting was a little dim for my liking but does pair well with the ambience I think they were going for. The front of house was lovely, so helpful and gave us great recommendations on what to order
We started off with prawn dumplings which had juicy fresh prawns inside- could do with more sauce but the flavour was pretty on par with a good yum cha dish. We also ordered a small beef pho to share, the broth was clear and packed full of flavour, quite different to the pho you would have in Richmond or Springvale mainly due to the lack of MSG- we were surprised but also not offended by the addition of broccoli and other vegetables inside the soup
For mains we ordered the east meets west , the crazy chicken ribs and lastly the pad viet! The east meets west was a delicious grilled chicken which was succulent and full of lemongrass flavour. The crazy chick ribs – a spin off on the crazy wings firey dish was the stand out of the night, my friend even went to say it was her favourite chicken dish shes ever eaten in her life! The spice level was just right without it setting your mouth on fire and the Tom Yum flavour worked extremely well with the dish The pad viet was also a very unique dish as it had satay sauce mixed into the noodles as opposed to a Pad thai which is dry . We enjoyed this dish very much and would definitely go back again for this .

New kid on the block! Union Road may be famous for its cute little cafes but look out for Saigon Soul. Plating up modern vietnamese food with a twist. We came here on a Wednesday night and it was pretty busy! Obviously becoming a local favourite.
For starters we had the duck spring rolls & VFC (Vietnamese Fried Chicken). The duck spring rolls were tasty but we didn't really taste a lot of duck meat inside them. The Vietnamese Fried chicken was really crunchy and flavourful, the lime made it slightly refreshing.
For mains we had the East Meets West (Grilled chicken with chilli, lime, lemongrass and garlic) & Lucky Lucky Duck. Both dishes were generous in size and more than enough for 2 people! (We had to takeaway the leftovers) the dishes were well flavoured and the meats were tender. Not to forget their delicious sauces to bring the dishes together.

Saigon Soul is an effortless 4.2. I wish this was our local Vietnamese restaurant. It’s a cute understated place with adorable food. It doesn’t have stereotypical Asian decor, instead going for an engagingly quirky look that screams comfort and warmth rather than style. It’s quite a sizeable place with a decent back area and we liked it very much. Today we chose prawn dumplings which were soft, flavoursome and lovely and very well made. This was our first introduction to the subtle spicing and seasoning in the dishes here. The dishes don’t hit you between the eyes but rather creep up on you. The duck spring rolls were in the same style. Lovely and crispy with great filling and with that subtle flavouring that was by now really beginning to intrigue me. As if the entrees weren’t good enough, the mains really hit the heights. The excellent East meets West dish consists of beautifully tender and flavoured grilled chicken. It’s a really lovely dish with chilli, garlic, lemongrass and coleslaw topped with mixed herbs. I could eat chicken this good any time. Our dish of the meal though was Week to Week, which is a steamed barramundi fillet - a huge one at that - with caramel, soy, fish sauce and garlic topped with cilantro and pepper. This dish is off the charts good. The barramundi fillet was huge and just magnificently cooked. The flesh just fell away but was still full of abundant moisture. The spicing and seasoning again here was masterful. Delicate and understated yet lovely enough to leave that wonderful residual warmth on the lips. We adored this dish which is one of the world’s great food steals for $19.
We had a wonderful meal here. With places like Saigon Soul in Ascot Vale, Cochin in Richmond and Tien Day in Box Hill I’m pretty much convinced that the best Vietnamese food is off Victoria Street these days. We’d like to thank Thien for the kind invitation to dine here. Could you give higher praise than wanting Saigon Soul to be your local.
I was invited to dine as a guest at Saigon Soul. We started off with Vietnamese fried chicken, prawn dumplings and sexy quail. The Vietnamese fried chicken was juicy on the inside and crispy with a delicious coating on the outside. Very moreish! The prawn dumplings were bursty and flavourful with thin wrappers and a well-balanced sauce. The quail was crispy and tasty but a little less cooking would have made the quail more juicy on the inside. We also had the chicken bun and the beef bun, both of which were colourful and full of vegetables. It was a very generous serving too. I would suggest some mint and corriander in the bun would help to elevate the freshness of the dishes. Everything was beautifully presented and the service was excellent. We also loved their delicious Vietnamese coffee and fresh coconut juice! The restaurant is cosy but a little dark so it looked closed from the outside. I would suggest making it brighter on the inside. Thank you Saigon Soul for a lovely meal!

Saigon Soul is situated in the very cool area of Ascot Vale, which I’m enjoying make a trip to more and more!! The front of Saigon Soul is unassuming and it looks like a very small restaurant - until you see the door leading out the back which takes you to a whole extra area which could fit double the amount as the shop front area! Would be a good venue for a larger dinner event.
Thien at the front of house was really lovely and helpful with the menu. He recommend we have a Vietnamese beer with our meal - and it was a great recommendation. Neither of us had tried 333 before but it was great! To start with, we ordered the “sensational special duck spring rolls”, and the “vfc” Vietnamese fried chicken wings. Both were delicious - the duck spring rolls were some of the best I’ve had, and the wings were sooo tasty, just the right level of crispness for me.
For main we had the “east meet west” grilled chicken dish, which is one the restaurant is known for. And I tell you what, it was delish. The chicken was really tender with great flavour. We also had the “pad viet” with beef, which was another different type of dish to what I would usually have at Vietnamese. It was like a pad Thai but using satay sauce - it was super tasty and I liked the crunch added from the bean shoots.
All in all a really cute little restaurant with a nice casual vibe. Good service, and tasty food. Thanks for having us Saigon Soul - we will be back!

I came here with a friend for dinner to Saigon Soul which is a fully licensed Vietnamese restaurant located in Ascot Vale.
I was quite pleased with tonight's meals. Very traditional and authentic Vietnamese food.For entrees, we ordered the Vegetarian Spring Rolls, The Chicken Skewers, The Vietnamese Fried Chicken wings (VFC), and for mains The Lucky Lucky Duck and The Grandma Beef. The spring rolls were just delectable!
They came with a flavoursome dipping sauce. But the chicken skewers were one of my favourite dishes. They were served with a tasty satay sauce which was fresh and zesty. The honey and pineapple gave the dish that extra bit of flavour and just hit the spot. The VFC were delicious just how I like my wings! Crunchy, hot and salty and added freshness with the hint of lime.The main courses were enjoyable.
The Grandma Beef came out with fire! (see photo) very theatrical. It had some very interesting flavours and was accompanied by an array of vegetables - your whole meal in one dish. The Lucky Lucky Duck was quite nice too. I do like my duck with a crispy skin which this didn't have but the honey sauce accompanied the duck nicely.Thien, the owner was an absolute gem. He took great care of us and made sure that we were satisfied and enjoyed our dining experience.Definitely a good place to head for some Vietnamese food if you're in the Ascot Vale area.
For a small extra charge, they cater for Vegans, Vegetarians and Gluten Free patrons plus they can cater for Functions. There's a happy hour on weekdays between 5-7pm and you can order online and get home delivery. For something a bit different, they offer a Karaoke option for group bookings! Personally when I think of Vietnamese I don’t think of Ascot Vale, that is until now.
I was invited to try this restaurant by the owner who had worked at his aunties Vietnamese restaurant in Richmond so I was pretty excited.
The service was really good and the food, well it was excellent. Initially I had some prawn dumplings which were light and extremely tasty.
Then I had some delicious sims which were light and full of flavour. I tried some chicken wings which were 5/5 and some of best that I’ve ever eaten. Whatever they were crumbed in was sooo tasty that I’d buy it lol
For main I had some spicy honey chicken ribs w rice and a salad. This was equally as good although for me it was quite sweet but well balanced with the rice and the fresh salad.
This place was busy and it is definitely worth a visit if you want some good Vietnamese! And the daily specials are a bargain.

Our first time at this great little Vietnamese in Ascot Vale and it won’t be our last!
It is really cosy with only about 30 seats in the main restaurant but with a large courtyard out the back for when the weather is warm. The owner, Ken, greeted us and was really friendly and helpful.
The menu has a lot of variety without being massive and it was really hard to choose as it all sounded great. There are definitely some things I will be heading back to try.
We started with the Steamed Prawn Dumplings, VFC (Vietnamese Fried Chicken) and San Choi Bao. The dumplings were full of prawn pieces and the ginger in the sauce was a perfect compliment. The VFC chicken wings were super crunchy and really delish – my favourite starter of the night! Loved the way the San Choi Bao was served, in a tea cup. Not only did it look good but it was super practical for catching all those delicious juices. The San Choi Bao was a little more rustic than usual with chunks of chicken and a hint of honey sweetness.
For mains we took Ken’s recommendation of the East Meets West grilled chicken. It was such a generous serve with great flavours. I was tempted by the Pepper Beef and I have to say it was like it was home cooked. The beef was tender, vegies with a hint of crunch and the pepper had just the right amount of kick without being overpowering.
I’m not a chilli fan but apparently the home made sambal was really good too, especially with the prawn dumplings and grilled chicken!
Whilst we didn’t try the Pho, it is clearly a local fave as I’d say more than half the other diners ordered it.
This is definitely the place that I would happily eat at each week, like the ladies on the table next to us who have a weekly booking. They apparently order the Tofu Pagoda and Vietnamese Chicken Curry every week. It really is that sort of place that you would have your favourite dish that you would go back for time and time again.

Part of me does not want to write a review because I don’t want to miss a walk up opportunity at this amazing establishment, but it is sensational. We had approximately our 5th visit tonight and it just keeps getting better..... our fav East meets West but my son can never bypass the VFC.
Saigon Soul looks small from the outside, but it's dining area actually extends all the way through to the back patio-style area perfect for functions or bigger groups. Saigon Soul is a casual semi-fine dining Vietnamese restaurant tuck in the busy Union Road, Ascot Vale. The restaurant is quite spacious, it has two sections indoor and the courtyard which makes this restaurant a versatile spot to organise any sort of private events. We’re excited to attend the invitation by Saigon Soul, Ascot Vale.

We were so happy to be invited along to sample the menu at Saigon Soul. This Union road eatery is a cosy space and dimly lit with a courtyard at the back ideally lends itself to outside dining in the warmer months of the year. Decorated within are the photos of a life in Vietnam and this gave the place that real/authentic feel.
I always arrive fashionably on time so while I waited for others ordered 333 beer and some of the most amazing prawn dumplings with ginger and sweet soy. I was just about to indulge when the others arrived and helped themselves as well so my little pre dinner snack was foiled. We loved this dish so much that another was ordered.
We ordered roti which came with a spicy home made satay sauce that was quite a delight. The chicken skewers where drizzled in sweet honey and had pineapple segments that really made this a tender and unique dish.
I managed to fit in the quail while the others waited for the mains to arrive. Nibbley and delicious.
All the mains were fragrant and packed with flavour but for me the standout was the Beef Pad Viet with its soft rice noodles and a satay sauce that had me coming back for more and more. Both the Shaker Shaker Squid and the East Meet West Chicken were also very good. Special mention to the lemon pepper sauce on the squid. I doubt you could pack any more flavour into a sauce if you tried.
A really great menu and really friendly staff made for a enjoyable evening out in Ascot Vale. Thanks so much for having us.
Drove all the way out to Saigon Soul... It claims to be In massive letters Vietnamese but It was more Chinese inspired. What a great menu some great options. Everything we ordered was so well prepared and presented with good flavour and equally good sauces to match.
Decided to get some take away rare beef Pho on a whim as I was walking by. Was not disappointed, flavourful stock and everything packaged separately so it would be fresh when I got it home! Will definitely be trying other items from the menu!
Had lunch special , the chilli pho with beef, and a Vietnamese coffee, flavours were pretty good and the coffee sweet and refreshing, service was very good and friendly, definite worth another try, other dishes served looked fresh and colourful.have tried about 5 menu items now, none have disappointed, you can’t beat taste and value here, the service is professional and low key , This place I recommend based on probably the best express lunch deal at the moment.

Very surprising to taste Vietnamese food with a twist. I ordered the Pho with Prawn Dumplings which had Tofu, capsicum, broccoli, zucchini, carrots and 4 massive Prawn Dumplings all in a sweet and fragrant broth. The restaurant was way too hot and had an ambience very unlike most Vietnamese restaurant with soft mood lighting and extremely quiet and will appeal to those wanting to get away from the madness of Racecourse Rd. Will be back to try other dishes.

Ordered from here through Uber Eats and we were very pleased with the food. We had the wontons, calamari and peppered steak with steamed vegetables. They were really enjoyable. Will definitely try other things from here 😋

The food was good, however the menu isn't extensive. The dishes are on the small side, but tasty nonetheless. The staff are friendly. Pay cash and get a 10% discount.
We ordered pho, fried rice and fried squid. The reasonable price and food was excellent. Staff was very friendly. Highly recommend!
Cannot believe how much flavour they jam packed into all the sauces and the soup that came as a side to the rice dishes, WOWOWOW. All the food was incredible and authentic where it counts but they really embraced modern nuances. This is definitely our new local and everyone who was dining there on a Tuesday night was feeling the same!
