Hot Chilli Thai serves good quality classic Thai food in a casual setting. Service was efficient and the restaurant was clean.
It must be said though that their version of each dish is quite Westernised and mild in spice level, as well as leaning towards the sweeter side. We liked all of the dishes we tried such as Pad Thai, Massaman curry and Tom Yum soup.
If you’re in the neighbourhood, this is a decent place for dinner.
Delicious, and without the hefty price tag! Hot Chilli will have your belly more than satisfied with large meals and large flavours. Penang curry was incredible and so was my friend's Pad Thai. Will definitely be coming back with other friends.
My family and I have come to this restaurant for over 5 years and counting for family dinners and a night out. It has never disappointed us the slightest. Our stomachs were always full. Our tastebuds satisfied. Our loyalty remains. The foods are the closest you’ll get to being in Thailand. It’s worth it. Try the beef salad too! It’s spot on. 😁
Not bad food - we began with spring rolls, roti bread and fish cakes to share. For main I had stir fry prawns with mixed vegetables and coconut rice. The prawns and veggies was good but I must saw was slightly a little too salty after a couple of bites. I'm glad I ordered the coconut rice to balance out the flavours! The waitress unfortunately made two errors with two other mains and they had to be remade but other than that I thought the food was good but didn't go that extra level to make it wonderful.
Awesome Thai food 🥘...and friendly staff! Possibly the best Thai fried rice 🍚...all the Curries are good....the food and place are not pretentious! So if you wanna have a quiet dinner with some friends or family this is the place for you!

Good quality food and they never cheap out on ingredients. Pretty sure I had 10+ prawns in the prawn curry I ordered.

Great food and exceptionally friendly staff for a great price. One of my favourite places in Melbourne. Have ordered on menulog also and always arrives within 30 minutes and the delivery driver is always friendly and smiling.
I recently got menulog from this restaurant and their minimum was a good $10-$15 cheaper than other Thai options in the area. They arrived right on time and the man was super nice when dropping off the food, he even gave us a complimentary bag of prawn crackers. I got beef pad Thai which had just the right amount of sauce and was very nutty which I liked. The portion size was HUGE and could easily be shared amongst two people. I also got the chicken spring rolls, which were nice and crispy! Definitely a good option for Thai in the area!
I got food delivered on a Friday night around 7pm and honestly the wait was 30 minutes. I though guy it would be longer considering the time and day. We go the veg curry puffs, mixed satay skewers (beef and chicken), Pad Puk (vegetable stir-fry), green curry with chicken, coconut rice and roti bread. Everything was really good - the curry puffs were the best! It wasn't expensive either.
I have come here many times and I always order the beef gang massaman, It's so creamy and thick and very flavoursome. The only bad thing about it is that the meat isn't cooked consistently well, sometimes its chewy and sometimes it's cooked perfectly. Staff aren't overly friendly but the atmosphere is quite nice.

Satay skewers are a must, and the coconut rice was second to none. We ordered the green curry and Pad Thai, and they were both fantastic.

I've never eaten instore before, however get takeaway from here regularly. The quality always exceeds expectations and the flavours are so well balanced. You will not find better prawns in takeaway food anywhere else in Melbourne and they are generous with there servings too.

Very tasty and good quality Thai cuisine. Nice atmosphere inside and reasonably priced. This is one of the better options in the Ascot Vale area.
One of the best Thai places I've been, certainly the best in the area. These guys always give really generous portions, so take away is really good value. I highly recommend the duck salad starter!
This local is an honest place and provides complimentary prawn crackers, but feel it is getting a bit tired. One of the kids and I like the Pad Thai which has been consistently tasty and fresh and they use decent sized prawns, but a takeaway prawn Pad Thai is hitting 20 dollars now with the updated menu. The Thai Red curry is a staple as well as the satay combo but have noticed some being with dry beef and too sweet. The problem is that there are other Thai restaurants such as KSR which does a mean green curry and damn good spicy stir frys and others along Mt Alexander Road means we probably will try them more often in the future.

Whilst there isn't a shortage of Thai places around the area, Hot Chilli has been delivering consistently outstanding food for many years. It surprises me to this day that there are people living in the area that haven't had a meal here - UNDERRATED.
Fantastic !!. The food and service is fantastic. The meal sizes are generous and the flavours are authentic. It's our favourite Thai Restaurant. The staff are very friendly. Went for dinner NYE and our friends loved it, they will be going back !
Hot chilli that is a great little spot to have dinner. The food is awsome and comes out within a reasonable time. The prices are great as well, probably about $20 a head average.
The only thing that could improve is the service but the great makes up for it :)

Delicious Sunday night takeaway. Good generous sized servings, good food and price. Still prefer the Samanee massaman but hot chilli comes a close second! Well done!

Stumbled across this place and very impressed with what we found. Clean, friendly service, good atmosphere and great food. The Penang Chicken Curry was perfectly balanced whilst the Pad Thai invigorating. We will be back for sure!

Best Thai restraunt I have ever been too, and I've been to a fair few. The food is amazing, quantity is great you never leave hungry. Gang lamb is my favourite :) service is great too they are very sweet and polite.
Came here with some friends for a catch up and the service was a bit slow, but it's easy to get past because the food is so wonderful! I would definitely come back again and again

Recommend.... Used to live at this place, but stopped going a couple of years ago when they stopped byo beer....now i live at lanna thai in nth melb....however quickly called into this place last week.....was good...bring back byo beer and you will bring back 10 of us each week
Love this place! Have been coming here for years and the pad Thai with prawns is always a must. Read a few of the previous reviews and just had to comment on something that really annoyed me, anyone that thinks that any bought seafood has not been frozen at any time is extremely naive, unless bought straight from a fishing boat, this will inevitably happen. At any restaurant.

Favorite Thai restaurant. This is my favorite Thai restaurant in the suburbs, it has very authentic and rich flavours, iv never been disappointed..eating in is lovely and service is great..home delivery is great too always fresh and hot! It's a little pricey but worth every penny, I always compare this place to others and Hot Chilli Thai always beats it! Give it a go, it'll be your fave Thai place too!

the food: number 22 and 32 on the menu were both fantastic dishes and i will order them again. the portions were large enough for them to have to roll me out the door and i still took home heaps left over :)
the staff: they were friendly and honest. i asked about the pear cider and was told it's ok but not very popular (had it anyway, was average)

Only down-side is that it can get a bit noisy if you have large crowds, due to bad acoustics in a large, brick room.

Fantastic food. We discovered this gem of a restaurant by accident a couple of months ago. The Massaman beef was awesome. Quick and efficient service and very good value for money. Was worth the 30 minute drive to get there and we will be back again.

Food was good but as the name suggests a little hot but they warn you. Toilets are the nicest and cleanest I've seen at any restourant and a very affordable meal, I would go again.
Food done traditional and well. Value for money with a vast variety. Service left a little to be desired but it was a full house. A prime example of traditional Thai done better in Melbourne.
