UNDER NEW OWNERSHIP AND CHEFS this Modern spacious restaurant with fine dining ambience at casual price...authentic Chinese dishes with many chef's own creations from owning restaurant since 1989 at Rokeby Road Subiaco...the husband and wife team with their team of friendly and attentive (many)staff shows that enjoying special food in a great surrounding doesn't have to be formal or costly. We had large steam Fish fresh from the Aquarium, yellow garlic Chicken, honey Pork, Buddha's special veggies mix, green Kailan in oyster sauce accompanied with steam Rice and Chinese tea plus Desserts for $35 pp
Stopped by for yum cha for lunch. There weren't many parking spots available out front so we ended up in the back and were unsure if we were allowed to park there or not. We ordered a selection of different dishes and they all weren't too bad. The flavours were good but they were a bit on the pricy side. That said it was really quick and easy to get a table and get fed.
Been there again after eight years during the Chinese New Year, this time went with another couple so that we could share more food. Overall the food are very good. The owner/chef is from Hong Kong so you could expect the Chinese style cooking food really. We particularly like the egg yolk squid (tried the prawn last time), the Chiu Chau Stew Duck (quite a good portion) and the Glutinous Rice was the dish of the night ! We enjoyed the food very much but service-wise, most of the waiters are not doing a good job, either not smiling and just ignore your wave. We understand that night could be extremely busy and they should have enough staff to help out.
Good service, good sized portion, good food, ridic prices but luckily we paid $69 for a scoopon giving us $150 credit.
The entire amount was spent by two people and this is what we got for $153.50: Satay pork, honey chicken, chilli pepper squid, wasabi fillet steak, small steam rice, one Coke Zero, one beer and one fried ice cream.
The chilli pepper squid was crazy good. Batter was thin and crisp and the dish had good flavour. The wasabi fillet steak needed more kick but was still delicious. Satay pork needed to be more peanutty and honey chicken was very average. The fried ice cream was terrible, the coating was too thick.
Overall I give the food 3/5 but kick it up to 3.5/5 for the service and overall value with the scoopon.
The best deep fried Barramundi I've ever had. Fresh and perfectly cooked food.
I couldn't fault any dish.
Hot and sour soup, boxing chicken, fried rice, king prawn noodles, chili prawns and deep fried barramundi in soy sauce... all were amazing.
It's a bit too pricy but enjoyable.
Overpriced Asian food...can get more varieties and flavours at Hawkers Cuisine in Northbridge. Never go to any Chinese Restaurants if you don't see many Asian patrons lol. Mud crab was on special the night we went, $80/kg...still prefers Snow Crabs but they were $148/kg omg!
I love this place, it is abit too expensive for what it is, but it is very tasty. I love the mango prawn spring rolls!! The chicken satay sticks are good and I once had a mud crab with Singapore sauce and it was super delicious but a total bank breaker!
we had our wedding banquet here last year. Â good parking space, great food, and awesome function room for a intimate dinner :) special thanks to Kathy as well, the manager who is always available for discussion to personalise the menu
This is one of priciest Chinese restaurants in Perth, it's food quality isn't as good as what Grand Palace was but its servings are bigger than Silks. The food does cater to westerns tastes whilst also many dishes remain authentic. Good ambiance.
Nice ambiance and service. We had the black bean sauce scallops, chili king prawns, salted egg fried squid, and Kailan with ginger. Food was tasty but not extraordinary. Wouldn't mind coming back.
We had a five course set menu. All the dishes were light and delicious, the strawberry margarita cocktail shaken to perfection. Service was prompt, professional and polite. Our favourite and recommended dish was the duck pancakes. Juicy, crisp and flavourful. My only complaint was that in a vast wine menu, there was no dessert wine on offer and nothing sweet was recommended as s substitute. Oh well. Can't win them all. We'll definitely be returning to this lovely venue.
Fabulous dinning experience in aquarium seafood Chinese restaurant. Lovely atmosphere and staff, glass never get empty. A huge menu to choose from. Deeply impressed by the flavours.
I have been here a few times now. Love the food here, although on the higher price range. It was worth it. My best experience here is still definitely the Chinese New Year banquet. Every year my family and I will have a banquet somewhere. This time it was at this restaurant. Delicious. Definitely...
Flashy decor and lots of sparkle to suit a pricier Chinese option, but still a return option for us. Try the more authentic dishes rather than the more 'Australianised' options for best experience.
A good date night option out of the more usual dining districts.
Well executed tasty and vibrant dishes. Beautiful prawn toast, chilli squid, Mongolian beef and great fried rice with Chinese sausage. Ate at Zenith 4 days earlier (rated 87) and food was significantly worse. Ratings are not good indication in this comparison.
Superb foods. Very authentic Malaysian Chinese foods, although the price was a bit steep but the foods quality was not compromised. Curry fried fish was tasty with fish fillet being deep fried to evenly golden brown and coated with thick curry sauce. Chicken ho fun was superb...it was very tasty and you could taste the skill and heart in this dish! Highly recommended but be prepared to pay a bit more for the great foods
YES ITS EXPENSIVE BUT ITS WORTH IT!!. Ok so I know this place is pricey but the food...OMG the food! When I want good quality Chinese Food I go here! I have been a diner their and also had take away, staff are always happy and friendly! Happy Customer!
Expensive for chinese food. Very pricey, cant complain about food or service. Felt like it was too posh for kids. More business or romantic.
Never had a bad meal here. Good value for money and polite staff. Highly recommended .
WONDERFUL. Amazing attentive staff, delicious food and impeccable presentation. The chili pepper squid was fantastic. A small group of drunken fools were at a table nearby and the staff handled it with grace and dignity. Will definitely come back!
I am very impressed with the spotless restaurant and attentative wait service. The meal was very nice but has become noticeably smaller and more expensive each time we go.Although the wait staff are very efficient they need to step back a little until we both have finished our meal I felt rushed.I will go back as the venue is so immaculate and they still provide crisp clean linen tablecloths.however I have to have my back to the poor crabs with their legs tied together in the tank, this is the factor that would stop me going it seems so cruel, but my partner loves Chinese meals and this certainly comes up trumps
We had quite a big table the night we dined at aquarium and the service and food was great! The waiters were professional and very helpful! I Would definitely return.
Good food at a price. We celebrated (2 people) a birthday here on a Friday night. Pleasant décor. Plenty of staff - very polite and non-intrusive. Fully licensed. Good wine list (glass of Moet $40). Huge seafood choice. We had whole steamed fish, roast duck and steamed vegetables preceded by fried whitebait entre together with a bottle of wine (Fire Gully Chardonnay $42). Excellent food and service.
Bill was pretty steep at 210 odd but not a rip-off (entertainment card took it down to 180 odd).
In all a good night. May take some friends another time.
A great treat. Food was nice, well-presented and generous portion. It had reflected the high class of the Chinese cuisine in Perth. We loved the crispy but tender squid tentacle, and decent, flavoursome of the steamed barramundi in ginger shallot soya sauce. Definitely going back this place.
Very good food and fast friendly service. The owner came over and inteoduced herself as Kathy and made my work colleagues feel like we were the only able in the restaurant. Great service and food. Thank you
Amazing Chinese. Good. Fresh. Tasty. Amazing service. Definitely recommend.
Bit pricey tho.
Expensive but good.. We have been there twice now. I have to say I have found the place a tad expensive. The layout is pleasant and there was normally enough empty tables but we prebooked both times.
The food quality was very good and my two boys 7 & 10 did enjoy the food. The menu is sort of divided into two parts with a bit more westernised dishes in the first part and the more traditional chinese dishes in the 2nd half.
Loved the soft shell crabs. The thai style fish preparation was also very nice.
The price is the main consideration at Aquarium as the service is great and the owner does come around and say hello most of the time and she seems to be well involved with service.
Lunch time specials are great value. Service is always excellent. Beef and black bean is delicious!!!!!
Gold Entertainment Card. You know, I have read a few reviews and this place seems like a real mixed bag doesn't it? I use to see this restaurant all lit up at night time on Great Eastern Highway in Belmont / Redcliffe area... I thought we would go one day. We went last night. I have to say when you first get there the place is really flash (for a Chinese Restaurant)... it looks really good inside and out. My normal expectation of Chinese Restaurant is "food is good, they need to spend a few bucks on the building." This building looks great and inside looks great as well. The service was great... couldn't fault them. For example we asked "How long would the prawn cocktails be?" .. they said 15 minutes, and within about 3 minutes the prawn cocktails arrived. The food was great in portion size as well... whilst I am writing about the Prawn Cocktails... you know how you normally get 3 dizzmal prawns smothered in cocktail source over more lettuce than a rabbit could eat in a week... not here... the prawns were plenty, although there were once frozen / bagged style... you know the type you get that are pink in colour with no real flavour. (Not orange and white)... those were the ones we got. None the less there were plenty in the martini glass. The mains we ordered were okay... chilli seafood wasn't overpoweringly chilli, and the lemon grass chicken was pretty good as well, the Aquarium fried rice is nice but way over priced for what you get. For dessert we had the fried icecream... I would give that a miss... way too many bread crumbs... it tastes best when they cook it like a Banana Fritter... but not too many Chinese restaurants do it this way. Anyway... it was okay... but.... If your going to go make sure you take your gold entertainment card with you. You'll get a good discount, we got $40.00 off a $186.00 bill between three of us with no alcohol. And they let you take home what you don't eat.... bonus for lunch today :-)
First time here for family birthday for 13ppl. Compare to a lot Chinese restaurant, this is not too bad. It's a busy night so service was a little lack. Portion size is good and taste is nice but not great. The egg yolk snowcrab is the highlight. 7/10
Decided to give this place a try despite the reviewer's complaints of the food being overpriced. Went there last night with my partner and ordered the chili pepper squid tentacles for entree, 2-way silver perch, chicken veges and special fried rice for mains and shared a fried ice-cream for dessert. I had to admit I was a little troubled by the above-average prices on the menu but as soon as the food came out I knew why they charged the amount that they do. The portions were reasonably generous and the taste and quality was definitely way above the normal suburbia or Northbridge fare. I have to say it is probably the best Chinese I've ever had in Perth. That combined with the classy ambience and friendly service is definitely worth the experience. It's true that the prices were above normal but I took into consideration that Aquarium is building it's brand as a fine dining venue and I would probably have paid a fair bit more at my other fav fine-dining place 1907. Don't come here if u r after a quick bite of cheap oily Chinese food because you will definitely complain about the prices but I would recommend this place to anyone who wants to enjoy a classy good night out with family or friends. Looking forward to my next visit!
Best Chinese in Perth. Many a fantastic meal here. By far the best higher end Chinese restaurant in Perth. Don't expect local Chinese restaurant prices, as the food is far better than this. Peking Duck, salt and pepper Squid ( not tentacles) are melt in your mouth, aaquarium chicken, all recommended.
Have been looking for a Cantonese restaurant to replace the brilliant Grand Palace. Unfortunately, this isn't the one but I would rate the food 7/10. The Preserved Meat Claypot Rice wasn't bad but the Lup Yuk & Lup Ngaap were a bit dry. The Crabmeat Sharkfin Soup was tasty but thickened a little too much. The Scrambled Eggwhite with Crab was well cooked but had about a 1/3 cup of oil in the dish! Attractive decor with a pleasant blue hue. Amenities are very modern & clean
Food was beautiful, pricey but beautiful- service was great
Wonderful. Love it! It is expensive but the food is great.
I loved every dish we had on the table (there were 9 of us!).
The ambience is great, beautiful and relaxing. The waiters dot on you, you just look up and there is a waiter to take your order/offer you a drink etc.
Cant wait to go back!
Fantastic service and the food was simply delicious
Great service....food came out quickly...would recommend
Consistently Good. Working close by we have started to frequent this restaurant, and have consistently had excellent food and service. Would have to be in our opinion one of the best for food and service for a Chinese Restaurant. Was recommended to us by family, and very glad they did. Love the fried squid tenticles with chilli sauce. Food is always fresh and tasty.
Great food...service maybe not so. Finally ate here after hearing good things about it and the food definitely lived up to the hype. The menu is just like your typical Chinese restaurants but just the quality, execution and presentation is such a higher standard. This is reflected in the prices though. I really liked the large open dining area and decor is modern and tasteful without being pretentious and sterile. Like some other diners have mentioned, the service wasn't too crash hot. After waiting about 30mins and realising the table next to us had arrived after us but been served before, I asked the waitress about our meal and got the impression it had been forgotten. But then all dishes arrived 10mins later. All dishes tasted great and service from then on was adequate. If you like Chinese, you should really enjoy this place
Excellent quality, but take out a second mortgage. Very good Chinese food, fine decor, location is a little odd though. I really enjoy the food here, but it is really expensive
Chilly salt squid is a fab entree. Lunch menu is excellent value. Highly recommend the sweet & sour fish. Excellent fresh seafood choices too. Superfast service.
Very good night. We went to Aquarium on Saturday night, with our 11 year old, and were impressed by the new look interior, very nice. We had great service the whole night; staff couldnt have been more attentive. Our starters of soup and scallops were scoffed really quickly, and our mains, sizzling mongolian beef and sizzling garlic chicken for the boys, and chilli bean curd for me, were tasty and plentiful, in fact we were offered a container for the food we couldnt manage, which was a nice touch. We hadnt been to the Aquarium for quite a while but will be going back soon, it was a lovely night all round, highly recommended.
One of the nicest Chinese restaurants in Perth. We went to The Aquarium quite a while ago.
We ordered the 3 course banquet for two, which was a pretty reasonable price.
The service was quite good, from what I can recall.
The food was lovely; the best and highest quality chinese food in Perth. The chicken and almond was my favourite and my partner loved the squid dish.
The dessert was pretty lack lustre, but I guess the chinese aren't famous for their desserts!
They have a new owner since 2019 and the dim sum here is amazing for lunch. Big portions, not too salty / msg, and reasonable priced. They also have plenty of space and you don't have to sit too tightly. Also not loud that I can't talk to my friends.
Highly recommended as a local! 💯😋🤤
Highly recommended by friend. We have dinner on Friday night and it was 80% full. We enjoyed dishes : tofu, snow crab, rice pot, fish meat on veggies, chicken. Those are all wonderful. Excellent customer service.
I have been here three times in the last month, I LOVE it. I eat out a lot and authentic Chinese is my passion. The people, the parking are great - the food superb! Possibly the best in Perth.
This restaurant is great, it solves the problem of having to wait for food to be delivered to your table because it's there straight away and you choose what you want
We had beef tendon for the first time it was delicious and so soft plus it would be full of really good collagen (pictured)
They have a the special chicken shaped dumpling that were yum (pictured)
The octopus was the best I've ever had so soft inside with a crunchy outside, so good
The beer was at a perfect temperature too which is a somewhat overlooked factor but makes it taste all the better
Overall a solid place to take the family 10/10
Service is great too very friendly
Stopped by for yum cha for lunch. There weren't many parking spots available out front so we ended up in the back and were unsure if we were allowed to park there or not.
