Review Paradai Thai Ashburton - Ashburton

Pork mince in spring rolls was raw, pad see ew had a very strange taste……not a good thai food experience tonight unfortunately

We have been going here for years! This during lockdown was our Saturday go to!! My husband is obsessed with Pad med manuang (chilli stirfry chicken) and will only order this with Roti!! I love their Larb Gai and satay chicken skewers! So fresh and authentic
Cara
Well priced beautifully flavoured Thai food. Will be a returning customer

I ordered food at 6:30 it took 2.5hrs to be delivered! The food was amazing but the delivery took way to long! I would of given them 5 stars if it didn't take so long.
Sam
I have tried Thai red curry and it was nice. prompt and friendly service. Recommended. Will come back again.

My favourite Thai place! The tofu Todd is yummy and favourite dishes are the penang and massaman curries. They understand vegan and make dishes with ample tofu without fish sauce. Delicious!!
Jaimi Alexander
I’m really disappointed with the quality of the food. We ordered off uber eats and the satay chicken sticks were half the size they usually are yet they’re still so expensive.
James English
The food is delicious, but our experience of taking too long to prepare food has become far too often. Last experience saw our order delivered 1.5hrs after order, which was 40mins late. Lies about it being on the way (5mins until we get to you, was delivered 30mins later!). Disappointed that continued loyalty is met with such lies, instead of apologies, truth and corrective action.

We love Paradai Thai II in Carnegie, so I was stoked to find Paradai Thai III as it's much closer for us. The red duck curry flavoursome, with a decent amount of spice and the pad see ew is tasty with perfect smoky flavour from the wok. The prices are very reasonable and the service is efficient. My only complaint is that they don't deliver to Mount Waverley!

Having always been a big fan of Paradai 1&2, this place was next on my list. The restaurant interior itself is similar to Paradai Thai 2, with a decent amount of tables and the food was quite enjoyable too.<br/>We opted for 2 entrees and 1 main. For entrees, the money bag and curry puffs, which both came in 5 pieces -divine! We loved the generous quantity and couldn’t get enough of the money bags. Pastries were cooked perfectly and the sweet chilli sauce on the side was a great combination. As for the main, we went with the yellow curry which had pumpkin, green beans and cherry tomatoes. Absolutely loved the flavour of the curry- went down very well with the rice. Can’t wait to come back again

I normally get Paradai Thai as my usual takeaway Thai. I thought it tasted great as takeaway, but it tastes twice as great eating in.<br/><br/>All the meals were freshly cooked and delicious. We ordered the roti with peanut sauce, Pad Thai and massaman curry. The roti was super crisp and the Pad Thai had great texture and was also quite saucy - unlike some very dry pad Thais you often get. <br/><br/>Paradai Thai delivers as both a go-to takeaway delivery and eat-in Thai restaurant.

Standard quality Thai menu near a busy intersection. The Thai salad, pad Thai, rice dishes are made with fresh ingredients. The starters are not up-to the mark except for the soup. They have high footfall so freshness is reasonably assured. The dishes do not stand out but good enough for regular fare. Price is reasonable. The green and red curries do not miss. Be careful with dishes marked with three or more chillies, better ask them to change it to two chilies or less unless obviously you like it really really hot. Good spacious clean seating ambience and no unpleasant odor like many other Asian restaurants and that’s definitely a plus. Takeaway service generally takes 15 or more minutes. English communication with staff can become an issue. Speak slowly and softly and do repeat the order even if staff gets offended which they usually do on the 5th repeat after having failed to understand it the previous 4 times. It’s just that they are offended at themselves!

Absolutely delicious Thai food! <br/>Headed to this local cafe located on the corner of Warrigal Rd with many recommendations to this place. Opting for the roti bread with peanut sauce 1 vegan pad Thai and a chicken pad Thai. The roti was delicious with perfect consistency of the peanut sauce, both pad Thais were also lovely up there with some of the best. Service was a little slow and underwhelming with our roti bread coming out quite late after our mains. All in all lovely local restaurant with very yummy food!

Got takeaway. Delicious green curry. A tad on the pricy side for $17 for 4 prawns, might go vegetables next time as the creamy rich green curry sauce is really what is to die for and thats just $11. Vegetable Pad Thai was okay. Might skip this in future to try the other curries. Pork panang curry I am told was delicious.

In between ...<br/><br/>Lots of take away ... medium size venue, neat, tidy, pleasant and quite a good service too.<br/><br/>Taste wise, Paradai is in between Paradai 2 and Paradai 1 ... those mains, neither here nor there, taste hovering in between good and not so good, authentic and not so authentic. Those are; Young Papaya salad (seafood is tasteless, soft shell crab is better), 4/10 Larb Gai (tasteless), 6/10 Pla Sam Rod (whole Barramundi lacking in sauce), 7/10 Pad Prikpao and 6/10 Fried Rice.<br/><br/>Best dish of the evening, entree; 7/10 $6.90 Thai Fish Cakes and $6.90 Spring Rolls, Mains; Red Duck Curry and Hot Plate Beef, and yes, those Thai desserts; $10.00 Mango sticky rice, $5.90 Khao Tom Mud and steamed Coconut ...<br/><br/>I trust that the kitchen will present a more authentic rendition of the Paradai brand, let's not stay in between. JT-22/04/2018.

Best Thai restaurant in Melbourne - green curry, pad grapao, spicy lamb stirfry and pad khee mao are my favourites. Staff are friendly and attentive. We often get takeaway too.

I chose the ‘Pad Thai’ with vegetables and tofu ($11.00). I loved how the dish came with a lemon wedge and a mound of crushed peanuts.  My dining companion picked the ‘Pineapple Kao Pud’ with chicken ($11.90)…

Ordered takeaway from here for the first time. Very generous portions, and nice, basic, tasty Thai. The takeaway menu feels kind of limited (in the scope of what Thai restaurants can offer), but the food was lovely. Ordered via Menulog and has no issues. Only problem was card was $20 and over.

Delivery. Mixed entree very nice. Green curry texture not too thin which is great. However, the prawns are hard, overcooked. And smaller than other places. Found a short black hair in the curry, too. Next time watch out.

Surprisingly the food are not bad, service were good too, the food came out fast and everything taste simple but nice. I especially love the fried fish with tamarind sauce, its one of the chef's special. Larb was standard, not enough sweetness, it was only salty and sour. Papaya salad with seafood was good, pad thai taste wise was okay but the rice was too soft, And fish cake was okay but way too tiny. Lemongrass prawn taste like tom yum and its not bad and steak was overcooked and a bit hard. Overall happy with the food and service, and everything that we ordered only cost $127, definitely worth it!

Ordered pick up pad Thai prawn was so fresh the dish was beautiful and green curry chicken! Excellent service and amazing quality Thai food :)

After loving the original paradai's in Carnegie thought we'd give this one a whirl! Our expectations were high and we were not disappointed! Beautiful Thai food at a reasonable price! Not as good as the original but I'm yet to find something that is! Thanks for a great night!

Great local thai restaurant. Always get takeaway from here and it never dissapoints. Favourites are the red duck curry and pad thai.<br/>Though the food is awesome and i love this place. I wouldnt recommend dining in. The service is a little slow, so i would definitely say takeaway is the way to go.

Ordered take away from here, it was quiet please by. Nothing too special not the best Thai I've head but still enjoyable for a takeaway meal.

Very delicious food ever. I recommend Green curry and Pad thai. If you would like to try Thai food, I suggest this restaurant. Do not hesitate to cone here.

Probably the best choice in the area for Thai. Offering decent thai food. Bit expensive but the quality of the dishes was good. The starters could be a bit bigger though.
Natalie Morgan
Absolutely divine takeaway food. <br/>We had roti, rice, Thai Green Chicken curry and a crispy pork Pad Thai. Spot on! Would most definitely done here again!

Last night I attended the restaurant and our table ordered satay pad and spring rolls. The satay pad had hot vegetables and cold chicken and came out before the spring rolls. The dish was obviously pre-made. We told the staff members and they said they would remake the dish, taking it out the back and bringing it back 2 minutes later (obviously just re-heating the dish). For dessert we ordered banana fritter and fried ice cream. The banana consisted of various end parts of a banana that were rock hard having been frozen and the ice cream was pre-made and not cooked to order. It was cold and soggy. We complained about the dishes and were told that is how they are served. The staff were unhelpful and did not want to assist fixing our meals. Very disappointed, will not be returning to this restaurant.

Guys it's really not good enough to have a $20 minimum on card. I wanted one dish at $11.90 and you wanted to charge me $1 extra!!! Why? In your greed I simply walked out your door and into the Thai place next door and paid $14 for the same dish.<br/>You missed out on $8 or so profit! Very silly!

wasn't impressed with the quality of Thai here... after last weeks great experience at Paradai I in Carnegie last week and not being able to secure a table at either 1 or 2... we booked Paradai III .. booking was no issue and I now understand why! <br/><br/>Ordered the Green Curry Chicken w/ steam rice (Thai benchmark test) and their "Crying Tiger".. both I feel were made to target non Thai customers. The green curry was too sweet and a bit watered down. also missing Thai basil (or lack of) and the sweet potato pieces were still crunchy (undercooked)! <br/><br/>Crying Tiger - is a lemongrass based tiger prawn stir fry. this dish was mediocre and the prawns used I doubt were tiger prawns. The shell (tail) was soft (I'll let u interpret that) and the size of it were normal .. anyway nothing awe inspiring!! <br/><br/>WIR? Nope ... WHY? hmmmmm another Thai joint to add to my ever growing list of candy shops..

Came with family for dinner as they were craving some Thai curry. I was experiencing a bad hangover so I didn't have much appetite, and only had a bowl of pork wonton soup and some Tom Yum soup. The pork wonton soup was fragrant and tasty and definitely helped with my hangover and the Tom Yum soup was also very flavorsome, though there was quite a bit of oil floating on the surface of both of them. My family ordered a chicken green curry and seafood red curry with some coconut rice, and an entree of chicken satay. I only had a little bit to try and thought they were a bit too rich for my liking, but that could be due to my hangover. Everyone else thought the food was really good. Service was friendly and prompt, but a bit slow because there were only two waitresses serving the whole restaurant.

The service is poor compared to the 2 restaurant in Carnegie. Although the staff is friendly, a few customers got up and left after waiting 45mins to order. Take away customers were equally frustrated. Get the service right and this place will make some waves.<br/>However, the food made up for it. The food is consistent across all 3 restaurant. Delicious and very nice decor. I am officially a big fun of their massaman curry beef!

I've been to paradai Thai 2 a few times but recently discovered that paradai 3 was only a few minutes drive from my house. This is now one of my many Friday night go-to places. The food and portions are great.

Beautiful, traditional Thai food. Love this place. Go here all the time. It's always consistent. Food is great.

Massaman Yumm. Had the massaman curry twice. Lots of chicken and nuts which I love! My friend said the jungle curry was nice and hot. He says 4/5. I say 5

Excellent Food and Friendly Staff. We had a really nice dinner with family. A relaxing atmosphere and the staff were very friendly. The food was absolutely beautiful. The presentation of the food was also great. My kids loved the salt and pepper calamari, which is a great achievement considering they are picky eaters. We also enjoyed the crispy fish, duck and pad thai noodles with prawns. The food was very tasty - definitely not bland.
Bonnie
Terrible.. Waited 1.5 hours for home delivery. Pad Thai was a total disappointment as it was very bland. Never going back.

Hidden Treasure.... Found this place by chance and i must say it was love at first bite.. I absolutely loved the Crispy Pork Fried Rice! My GF ordered the tamarind fish and we were surprised on how authentic it was(i don't even like fish)... I also highly recommend the Fish Cakes and Curry Puffs, they are both home made..<br/><br/>Just ensure you alert the staff if you can't handle spicy food:) We will definitely be back again and try more of your dishes.<br/><br/>Thanks for the excellent service guys!!<br/><br/>Best Wishes,<br/>Honest Foodie<br/>"Food is the way to my heart"

Will keep coming back!. Always a place we returned to! The food is wonderful and we were well looked after. Our favourite is the fish with tamarind sauce!

Terrible Thai food. I would not recommend.

Girlfriend and I went to try out this place. Asked a question about the menu and the waitress muttered something rude in Thai before answering the question. Unfortunately for her my girlfriend speaks Thai. Walked out and wouldn't go back. We did however go to Sweet tamarind which is a new Thai restaurant next door and not only were they lovely their food was amazing.

Yummy. Attended for a family dinner and all the dishes we tried were great. <br/>Entrée highlight were the money bags.<br/>Loved the Pad Satay Sauce; could eat it all day the sauce was so good. <br/>Service was also good and they were very accomodating for our rather moody toddler.
Court
Slow takeawy service, was rudely instructed to 'tell them' that i wanted peanut sauce with roti bread, so i did, got home no sauce to be found. Will be trying the new thai place next door in future!
Evangelia Ange
A local favourite. Good food friendly staff. Love their Green and penang curries.
Loub
Loved it! Great authentic Thai flavor. The massaman beef curry was delicious with tender pieces of beef

Beautiful. Had the chefs special. Roast pork belly stir fry - delish! Service good, food great. Very reasonable prices and BYO. Will return.
Food Experimentz
Food was nice. I would give it 7/10 but the service was not that great! As soon as you order the food its very hard to catch the attention of a waitress! It was a busy night 3/4 full but only 2 waitresses!
Elana Mulligan
Authentic, amazing food!. The food here is amazing! The Penang beef curry is to die for and the stir fry dishes are generous and tasty! The original white thai prawn crackers are sensational. It's our regular Friday night take away spot!<br/><br/>If you decide to eat in, the waitresses are lovely and attentive! The restaurant itself is not super flash, but the food more than makes up for it! BYO is also a plus!

Long wait - slow service. We waited over 40 minutes to have our order taken and had to ask twice for our drinks to be opened. Extremely unattentive and food was nothing special. will not be back.

Speed up. Ordered take away again, food was fine, no complains, Tom Yum soup and a Red Curry, both tasty<br/><br/>Let down once more by slow service, was told food would be ready in 15 minutes, allowed 25 minutes, told it was not ready when I arrived, waited another 15 minutes.. this with only 3 people seated at the restaurant<br/><br/>Called to place an order over the weekend, was told to wait, I did so for six minutes before hanging up and ordering from Rama Thai.. no fuss<br/><br/>The food at Paradai III is really good, but exceptionally slow service lets it down
Sea Food And Eat It
New to the area so in search if a good Thai take away tried here. Had the red duck curry, massaman beef curry, roti and prawn crackers. All very tasty with a little kick on the duck curry and the beef tender as expected. Not bad overall.

Nice one Paradai!. I cant help but compare it to its big brothers in Carnegie. The Pad Thai was really good, pretty alike to Carnegie as was the masaman curry. The Pad Med Mamoung was a little shrimpy for me but im still impressed and so happy they have opened close to my house as im a regular to Paradai Thai 1 and 2 and now i dont have to travel so far. Great to see the restaurant pretty full tonight too! Unlike the previous tenants to the premises who couldn't even get the rice cooked properly.

Sensational ! Real authentic Thai food for a reasonable price ! <br/>Will be back.

Looked forward to trying this once new owners took over the tired Tonkra, ordered Tom yum, calamari salad and a curry, food was decent, better than the Thai across the road, prices were reasonable <br/><br/>Only negative was the long wait, 40 minutes for food to be prepared was excessive considering the restaurant was almost empty
