This place has really big and tasty Japanese meals. I always get the Terriyaki Beef Don (but on fried rice) because the beef is so tender. The Pork ramen was good but quite densely filled with noodles, which made it a bit of a struggle to eat but was still yummy. They also have great sushi to take away during the day.
Ambience: friendly staff, beautifully decorated table decor, utensils, authentic tea pots, cups and plates/bowls.
Food: very tasty, I had the teriyaki salmon don and found it very satisfying, decent portion and well cooked. My partner had the house bento and had the same feedback, very filling. Bigger than it looks in the pictures.
Service: quick and efficient, very professional attire and mannerisms.
I will definitely be coming back.
One of my mums favourite places to eat. The ambience is really good, space is very clean. It could do with some music though. I had the summer roll and the rest of the family got different bento boxes. All of them were generously filled and no one was able to finish their meal. Highly recommend giving this place a try!
Best Sushi in town. The rolls are generous in their servings and super tasty. The Sushi rolls are double the size of most other places.
Hot meals are great too but I wouldn't call them authentic japanese but are delicious.
Such a wonderful addition to the ashburton shops when I visit this area for work.
Hubby and I tried this local last week and were pleasantly surprised with both the quality and quantity of food for under $50.
Service was rubbish but can be excused as food was fresh, light and plentiful. Will be back
The place is well designed with nice Japanese theme, the food is health and light with reasonable price.
I have been there a few times, the sashimi was fresh and sukiyaki beef was really good. I really like the miso soup because you can tell it's not cooked from paste. Definitely would like to back there for dumplings as well!
Go there very often,
Crab meet 8 piece is awesome!
Staff are incredibly nice and happy to meet new people.
Prices are very reasonable considering portion size.
Surprisingly good sushi. Ordered a platter for a birthday party and they were very generous with the portions. Sushi was fresh and delicious.
Great for quick take away options or a casual easy in meal. I wouldn't have the ramen again but sushi is always fresh and their other hot meals tasty.
J J Sushi is an excellent addition to the bustling Ashburton High Street strip. We have been here at least half a dozen times in the last six months and the food is always fresh, tasty and beautifully presented. Top this with a very high standard of cleanliness on display and great service - and its a recipe for you good marks all round. The staff are usually Japanese speakers which adds to the authenticity - sometimes communication can be a bit challenged; but when the staff are clearly trying to help that is not an issue. The Sushi is highly recommended and the various hot dishes are excellent too. I think this place will continue to thrive as locals discover how good it is
I love coming here for Sushi! Sushi is always fresh and can be made to order if not on display. Restaurant menu is also tasty and plentiful. Staff are friendly and attentive. Prices great.
J.J Sushi is a cut above. I visited with my 3 year old boy, the staff could not have been more helpful. The Ramen is generously sized and delicious
Went there with my girl friend I had mix sushi , very fresh and she had chicken noodle very nice and filling , I will be back to try the other items on the menu .
I have come to Australia for 3 months,I am an international student from China. When I came to this restaurant first time, their staffs are very kind to talk with me and teach me how to live in Australia which is very useful. Altough they might have some mistakes sometime, but their food are good. I like their bento and sushi, fresh and delicious.
Very cold in the store. Good for hot days I guess. The staff still need a bit of training. I had to say my order to 3 people. The manager needs to train them better instead of just wanting to take over and then saying something to the staff in Chinese. The food is ok. Nothing special, just sushi and may be some Chinese fusion stir fry stuff. The pink scribbles on the front windows make it look less professional. I had high hopes with this place during their building process. But it lacked professionalism and I probably won't be back. Take away for 2 = $46. No drinks.
