Review Bambino's Kebabs - Ashburton

Good food and Great Vibes
Used to be good. Now it’s gone downhill. Portion sizes are disappointing. Half the box HSP for all sizes doesnt even cover half the box and guess they think customers won’t notice. Chips are undercooked and wrong sauces most of the time. How can we support local restaurants if they get dodgy over time? Not good value for the price. Won’t be coming again and wouldn’t recommend to anyone!

Went there with my family, they play weird indian vulgur songs and start passing comments to girls, they were really disrespectful , the guy with no ethics , and when we left the shop and they passed the comments again, They even showed middle finger while passed we car, so we stopped and came back , then the owner start being appologatic and said his employer be sorry from his side, never going there , the people are so disrespectful and need to learn some ethics.

The falafel wrap was just ok, maybe other options might be good.

Worst experience. Today I have ordered 2 HSP and 1 meat box through Doordash. I have ordered the large boxes worth $62.50. The meatbox that we ordered was not cooked properly and the quantity of the orders were less as well. They have put the food in the opposite side of the box to show the box is full, but still food is under filled. I have ordered chicken and they gave lamb. Very disappointed.

Tried this place for the first time and ordered a Jumbo HSP. The flavour was okay so will give them a couple stars for that, however their serving size was very stingy considering it was their largest HSP size. There was just a layer of chips and a very thin layer of meat with some sauce - no cheese. Of all the HSPs I've had, this was the worst value so will not be going back.

I do not understand why chipsin HSP in deliy order are different from the order I picked by myself, the delivered order chips are extra ordinary and tasty.

Had a kebab, hardly any meat, very small and the place does not look very clean. Not really friendly either, plenty of better places around.

Owner is horrible, homophobic and abusive the worst customer customer service I have ever received, called to let him know that an Uber driver had canceled (stolen) our food and was abused and told it was our own fault, horrible people to talk to and beyond insulting, I found it strange how a business based in a church parking be that unkind.

Seriously..... 2 orders f***ed up in 2 weeks. How are you guys still open. I know it's not rocket science but you'd think a simple order would be filled by a simple food truck.
Honestly embarrassing to order after the first stuff up, never coming back.
There's a reason these guys are working in a food truck and not in a normal job that requires mental processing.

The lamb and chips felt like it was cooked before the order came in. It was cold and soggy. It had that microwave feel to it. Does not seem that they fried it when the order came in. FYI...I live 5 min away, hence it should be crispy and hot when it arrived.

I called the shop, advising the error and requested a new one. The owner was rude, blamed the UBer driver said “not my problem” and *hung-up*.

Disgusting! I was given yesterday’s fries, it wasn’t fresh nor hot as they didn’t even bothered reheating it. Yuck! What nonsense. First time trying Bambino’s and definitely the last. Would tell my friends this horrible experience too. 👎🏼

HSP for $10 🤤 *jackpot* Perfect quantity, really tasty and cheap, what more could a student ask for.. The meat was perfectly cooked, crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. I’d so visit this place more often. #imsofull

Driving past here on the Regular as I always go to chadstone I was intrigued to try it . With fairy lights on during the evening the small food truck does look alittle tacky but regardless I was really craving a kebab . The wait time was not too bad considering the amount of people waiting in the car park . The meat of the lamb was still juicy and not dried out , they give you a lot of garlic sauce which I like too

I’ve driven past Bambinos literally hundreds of time and it’s got some real character when all the lights come on in the evening. Recently though I took up an opportunistic moment to sneak a mixed kebab while KD was off doing a food shop (lucky she doesn’t often head to Zomato). I was their only customer because it was so early evening so wait time wasn’t long at all. Kebab was tasty and brutally honest street food. Despite other reviews I was happy with garlic and didn’t experience the soggy pita syndrome... perhaps a reflection how fast I ate my unofficial addition meal. Much better than a posh kebab.

I'm always a bit hesitant getting food from vans but this place is ok. Not had any adverse incidences from my handful of visits. It can take a while for food to be prepared. I don't really rate their chips; too thin, overly seasoned and gets soggy fast. Their chicken and lamb kebabs are decent.
Alex
Bambinos kebabs. Amazing. Above and beyond they are. Can be a bit abrupt on the phone - but their kebabs are easily the best in the area. Super polite guys as well

Lamb kebab was awful, worst I've ever had. :( Usually everything tastes good when you're hungry, not this.
Way too much sauce, the lamb had a strange texture, sorry guys, just not good at all.

Why risk "caravan food" and the consequences when probably one of the best Souvlaki/HSP, Burgerts, Chips, Chickens are available 100 meters up Warrigal Road?

Asked for mix kebab and falafel. Over powering chilly sauce in both. Falafel was cold and wraps were really dry and didn’t seem fresh at all. Not happy.

Average. Crappy pita so it goes soggy super quick. First time I came it was pretty bland so the next time I asked for some salt and I wish I didn’t. I was reaching for the Diet Coke all night after it.

For a local kebab joint they go alright. Have only ever had the chicken kebab.

Decent Kabab place. It’s very close to where I stay so good midnight cravings joint. Very filling and the meat tastes good.

There’s a 24 hour woolies right opposite for when you have to get chasers or crisps for the long sesh.

Amazing kebabs..one of those places u can go to when u have a kebab craving in the middle of the night..I wouldnt order anything other than the kebabs from this place.

We usually order the mixed kebab with the lot and it is really good. Price is reasonable. Staff are friendly. Found this place to be always busy but definitely worth the wait.

One day, I ordered chicken kebab which was very good with reasonable price. However, the staff was not helpful. They just asked me "spicy or not spicy?". After purchasing, I realised that I could customise the veges, cheese or source by filling in the bag for kebab.
I would try lamb kebab recommended in other reviewers next time. Of course I won't forget to customise it.

Fantastic cheese paratha's!! Great on a cold winter night. Only if they would have pickle with it 😊 haven't tried the falafels yet, however can definitely see this place becoming the late night stop very often!

Honestly not that impressed - I drive past here frequently and have wanted to try it for ages.
They were very quiet when I arrived to finally check it out - service was to the point but not particularly warm.
Food was adequate, filling and hot but the lacklustre meat was overpowered by sauces.
I will try again if desperate late at night with a need to nip a potential hangover in the bud, but I won't be going out of my way again.

Bought HSP and the meat and chips are all cold !!!! I had to microwave it at home. Also I asked for chicken only but they gave me mixed meat 😾.

They've recently started doing snack packs properly, without lettuce, and they're pretty tasty. A little more cheese would be nice but they start at $10 which is great. The kebabs are also cheap and mostly good, although the pita bread they use is very average. I'd be happy to pay a little bit more for better bread.
Hansenben1993
Who puts lettuce in there snack packs ?
Not to mention that they have awful customer service
Meat isn't even that good.
Over rated do not recommend.
Craig
Very rude service. I was the only person there and he just ignored me for 2 minutes before grunting at me to take my order. Didn't even bother to take his headphones out to do so. Wasn't given any indication of how long it would take so stood in the cold for 15 minutes. But to be fair my lamb kebab with the lot was very nice
Hunt4r
Worst thing i have ever eaten. Asked for extra meat... got half of a normal serve. Not to mention there must have been about 5 peices of lettuce in the whole thing oh and sauce haha thats funny! Also for what meat i got it was cold. DO NOT BUY THIS JUNK! Wouldn't even feed to my dog!

Went to the Glen Waverly one. The taste of the Kebab was not terrible, but not average....

- BBQ sauce was overloaded
- lettuce....probably 1,2 or 3...
- no tomatoes.... (when requested)
- no cheese.... (when requested)
- no taste in the garlic sauce? not sure if the guy even put it in...
- no chips...available...
- my kebab pretty much looked like it was dehydrated and doesn't look filling...
- Kitchen didn't look that great....

Kinda scared now... GOOD LUCK!

This is the second and last time I order from Bambinos Kebab.

I have never posted a negative review before.

The first time I ordered a kebab with chips. After a very long wait (~20 minutes), the chips were not ready and I was refunded the amount.

Today I experienced the same service. After a very long wait (30 minutes), the kebab and chips I ordered were not ready. In fact, they had managed to serve other customers. It was very disappointing.

It looks like the staff don't prioritise orders well. I will not be returning.

Only been here once and will definitely go back to try the menu.

Had the mixed souvlaki and it's was a tad better than average when you compare to what's on offer in oakleigh.

There are no restrooms here which is a problem. I needed to take a leek around to the side of the van and the staff were not impressed at all. What do they expect? No toilets and their target market is most certainly people after a boozy night...🙈
Conveniently located at a busy junction of Warrigal Road and High St, this place offers yummy lamb kebabs for a very reasonable price. Quick and delicious!

Just found a new place for kebabs in Bambino's, Ashburton. Really yummy good kebabs & open until midnight which is really good & will definitely visit it again.

East OR West Bambino's kebabs are the best in Melbourne. Just love the place for Quality, Quantity & Staff Service, Never had such good kebabs
Happy Camper
Just bad quality!!. The worst kebabs I have ever had, cartlidge isn't what youbwant in an already bad kebab. And don't get Mr started on the chips.
KREAS
Italian name. Middle Eastern food. Subcontinental owner. Average kebab.

Instructions: it's a weekday and after 1am and you don't feel like China Bar. Go across the road to the servo and buy a tub of icecream and a Ribena. Order half a tandoori chicken and lamb kebab with chilli. Wait 5. Eat everything in the car park with some Miles Davis playing. Laugh maniacally at yourself at how much fun you just had.

Start driving home, catch sight of yourself in the rear view and weep uncontrollably at what you have become.

..Well the garlic sauce had no garlic flavour to it. But that in itself is a minor thing. I am still getting over the meat. I had a strange aftertaste in my mouth the whole evening and ended up taking a shot of apple cider vinegar to get rid of it.
Reg64
Strange taste. This place doesn't get any better. The meat has a funny taste. I wonder why? All told I would rather go home and cook some bacon and eggs than pay for this fare.

The question is do you feel like risking it tonight? If you're like me right know you're probably drunk and hungry. Maccas doesn't seem so right so you're left with this place.. Let's face it if the health authorities were involved this place would probably be shut down but your hunger is out ranking your rationality. I ate a lamb sovolaki 10 mins ago and despite the lamb looking like bacon (2mm long strips) I'm still alive, stomach feels a bit weird but can't tell if that's the alcohol or the sovolaki. Wish me luck :)

The kebab it self was good but I thought everything else was very average. The van was plastered with the menu and it was all over the place, the chips were small sticks, and the lady behind the counter didn't understand what we were asking and seemed to make the prices up on the fly. Also the whole set up doesn't seem very hygienic. I do like the set up in the car park, feels like a classic kebab shop but they need more seats like crates or something. Overall I didn't like it.

Got a new van looks pretty amazing. Taste even better than before

Yea, nah.

Great place for a late night kebab.. Think about late night in Melbourne is boring itself. But this place offer awesome kebabs after midnight. Though I don't expect perfection every time but 1 reason I keep going back to this is they give me the perfect kebab at least 99% of the time. They being the only kebab house there I expected some negligence but surprise I hardly didn't.

Once again kebabs in this area are the worst! Someone open a kebab place that's worth it!

Delicious kebabs!. Drove past this place late one night on my way home and my curiosity got the better of me. So I decided to bung a u-ey at the 7/11 and ordered a lamb kebab with chilli sauce. The wait was a bit long as the guy serving had to swap out the lamb as it ran out but it was oh so, so, soooooo worth it. The lamb was delicious and tender and the sauce had a good heat to it. They have other sauces too but I tend to stick to chilli as I love my hot sauces. Went there tonight (second time) and the kebab was great again. I can definitely see myself getting fatter and fatter on these kebabs. The same guy has served me both times I've been there and he's a cool dude too.

Next time I go I'm definitely going to starve myself beforehand and then buy two kebabs.

While Bambino’s looks unassuming and to some degree dodgy (but with a clean kitchen), it produces one of the juiciest kebabs I’ve ever eaten.
Poho
I'm not sure if it was my (slightly) drunken state, but this kebab was great. Helped along by the very amusing worried shouts by the misso (driving at the time) to not get any on the car seat. For, you see dear reader, I was eating this in the car. The meat was juicy and while not strictly lamb, it was doner and delightful. Not once did I get a mouthful of only salad, quite the opposite a lot of mouthfulls were meat heavy, which is a good thing (tm). The chilli sauce didn't overpower and complimented the garlic nicely.
