A light meal overall. Taste is fine, nothing amazing or special.
Salmon would be better with some kind of bread.
What a little hidden gem in Burwood/Ashwood area. Food was amazing and most importantly extremely friendly staff. They customised to every requirement we wanted. Will definitely visit again.
Love this place! One of the few hidden gems of Burwood that serves up dishes full of flavour with an affordable price tag. Food took a while to arrive possible due to it being such a busy brunch spot! Highly recommend the morrocan eggs!
This is my second time visit, last time I order burger and the burger was good, me and my friend really satisfied. this time I ordered salmon stack that was also good although the menu has not got much choices but food still tastes nice :))) will go back for sure!!
One of the best brunch spots in Melbourne. I got their chilli scrambled eggs which was a feast to the eyes and taste buds! What a delight it turned out to be. The brioche came with a layer of spinach topped with scrambled eggs, haloumi and smashed avo! The shakshouka was equally good with sausages and feta and perfectly poached eggs.
I like it when a regular brunch and breakie spot takes it up a notch up in this instance with their Turkish influence. Highly recommend this place and the first restaurant and cafe I’ve given a five star rating! Loved the old pot the Turkish tea was served!
PS - Its Halal!
My dining companion chose the 'Smashed Avo with Danish feta and fresh mint on toast, with sauteed mushrooms, topped with toasted spices and nuts ($13.50)'. A poached egg was added for $3. A decent size portion for a small price tag.
Great environment and good customer service. Their baked eggs were amazing and definitely warmed me up on that cold winter day. My friend and I had pre-purchased a Groupon and although knowing that, the staff did not treat us any differently and the size of their dishes were still large. Will be back to try more!
Very nice little cafe, not too busy and friendly staff.
I had a really nice tasting flat white followed by the Hyde 'n Seek lunch burger with chips. Tasted great.
Will definitely return.
It's been a while since I've last visited this cafe and I can say that not much has changed. Their food is always presented beautifully and cooked perfectly.
I opted for the salmon stack and coffee. The poached eggs were runny, hollandaise sauce creamy and salmon was fresh (I've had the misfortune of bad smoked salmon before). My only suggestion is that the addition of a lemon wedge would cut through the richness of the dish.
Service was attentive despite the busy trade.
All in all, a decent cafe meal.
3.5/5 ... where's the half rating Zomato
Not just for locals ...
Away from the major roads, a bit of effort in finding this local cafe.
Melbourne's winter chill, "rare" bright and sunny was the perfect backdrop for some latte 6/10, chai latte, pancakes and flat corn fritters 8/10.
Warm indoor and plenty of outdoor seating area
, a stone throw away from Ashwood school, so probably best to avoid school drop off and pick up times.
Another quaint suburbia cafe with friendly service, pleasant ambiance, good food and okay coffee, Veneziano beans and La Marzocco combo ... not just for locals. JT-21/06/2018.
Ordered in breakfast this morning with my partner. We got the corn fritters and the smashed avo with salmon. Both were quite nice, although the food doesn't travel well (which is to be expected). I personally found the corn fritters a little bit bland, but overall the food was pretty nice.
It was that saturday morning, feeling sleepy but also hungry. I decided to go to this cafe and try their food. I ordered Ottomans banquet- dish from turkish, really bring up my appetite.the spices and the dip really compliment each other. The turkish bread was also crisp and delicious as well!
Salmon stack- was on my top list too🙌🏻 they give me 1 full avocado with salmon and perfectly cooked poached egg on the plate! I have a full mouth and stomach after i got home..
The staff was friendly. They helping us explaining the menu. The place was calm and quite. You typical comfort morning brunch👌🏻#BHAsFoodDiary
Had the house recommendation of Moroccan eggs with sujuc and feta; it was amazing! Great coffee and service with a lovey courtyard too. Will be back :)
Could not be more happier with our food- everything was spot on and so tasty! We started off with our much needed smoothies in the 40 degree heat. Although the waiter wrote my order down wrong, this was quickly exchanged with an apology and shortly another smoothie was made for me. I had the mixed berry smoothie, and it had a thick consistency which was not too sweet.
Now for the best part of the meal- the smashed sage pumpkin! I’ve never had pumpkin on toast before, and I must say this was delicious!! The pumpkin was smooth and creamy, with balsamic glaze drizzled over the top. Not to mention, the poached eggs were cooked so perfectly.
And as for the lunchtime burrito, I was so surprised by how yummy this was! The burrito itself is HUGE, you definitely have to knife and fork it. Very generous and succulent chicken tenderloins were wrapped in the tortilla. We especially enjoyed their tasty tomato salsa and thought all the ingredients in the burrito went together really well.
Would have given an even higher rating, but unfortunately the service was lacking at this cafe. They seemed very run down and busy, so we had to wait around 40 mins for our food.
Came here for lunch on Saturday and really enjoyed it. Nice little local cafe, fair prices and decent coffee too.
I will definitely come back
Had never heard of this place so walked in with no expectations, an hour later my outlook on life had increased dramatically. Everything I ate was spot on. Decent serving sizes and prices as well.
Friendly staff made for a very pleasant brunch for the whole family. The Ottomans banquet was excellent. Coffee was good. We'll definitely be back.

Located in a sunny high street position with parking out front this is a great place to visit for brekkie with loads of beautiful Turkish flavours and modern Australian favorites. They also have gf options on all breakfasts.
The cafe is run by two cousins with a passion for hospitality. They are an integral part of their local community and know the coffee orders of their regulars by heart.
We were treated to a fabulous spread at Hyde n Seek and they recommended their speciality: the Moroccan baked eggs.
The eggs are perfectly poached and baked in a deliciously rich capsicum & tomato sauce. We also added the sucuk & feta which elevated this dish from delicious to AMAZING! Sucuk is a Turkish sausage, similar to chirizo but better. The sausage has a texture that is softer than chirizo, and has a perfect blend of spices that isn't over powering.
The dish comes with a side of flavoursome hummus & beautifully toasted Turkish bread, just the perfect level of 'crusty' so that we could soak up every drop of that delicious sauce.
If you love baked eggs then we can definitely recommend this beautiful dish.
As usual I couldn't pass up a smashed pumpkin and this was a particularly delectable version.
Their smashed sage pumpkin sweet and soft and is complimented by TWO beautiful dukkah poached eggs (we love it when you get 2 eggs a standard), plus creamy Danish feta, served on perfectly crispy ciabatta with a spread of gorgeous hummus! The eggs were plump and ready for popping and we loved the gentle middle eastern twist from the hummus. One of the best smashed pumpkins I've ever had!
Our final dish was the Bircher muslie. Traditionally we find bircher to be soaked overnight and mixed with the yoghurt but this muslie was toasted and crunchy so we thought it was more granola than bircher. Having said that, it was really delicious and the yoghurt was creamy and flavoursome. The berries and fruit added a lovely burst of flavour and sweetness. The milk is served on the side so you can add to taste. We think this is a fabulous, filling dish and would definitely recommend it as a healthy brekkie option.
We also want to add that the coffee is awesome and the staff are super lovely.
Had lunch today here , they have my favorite French earl grey and elegant tea pot (sorry I am a pretty teapot maniac lol) food came in quite decent size and reasonable price , friendly service , love the back yard dining area . Peace and quiet in the sunny day . A cafe that I will recall. 😊
Amazing food and great customer service. Really nice break from a traditional breakfast with the Turkish spices. Loved it and will definitely be back. Anthony Carapellucci
a very nice, very interesting cafe! always an enjoyable experience, and i've always got a soft spot for the afghan cardamom tea. wholly recommend this cafe!
Tucked away from the hustle and bustle, Hyde & Seek has everything that one would expect. Parking is plentiful and the coffee is fantastic! My scrambled eggs were a bit on the 'soupy' side but I'd still go back for the coffee (and to try another menu item...).
Delicious food, lots to choose from and very accommodating staff! Coffee and desserts are also a winning combination! Will definitely be back.

Been here a few times, the best item is probably the moroccan eggs. ITs delicious, but the portion sizes and pricing could be better. Overall pretty basic brekkie place, nothing too special but the decor and location is good.
To put it simply, best brunch spot in Melbourne. Food and coffee is consistently great. Diverse and different menu which is a plus. Staff are always lovely and remember you, and there's never a wait to be seated.
good food - I've tried a few dishes here with friends and you'll be hard-pressed to find anyone disappointed. fresh orange juice, fresh food - also good napkins and plates. excellent service, and drinks!
Tucked away but an absolute gem in Burwood! The staff were lovely! The coffee was sensational! The food was up there with the best! Salmon, avocado, pumpkin hash and hummus were amazing!
Amazing food and service with a smile! Really enjoyed the French Toast and the people with me loved the Potato Fritters and the Ottoman Banquet. Great atmosphere with nice industrial minimalist design - definitely going to come back.
Popped in for lunch around midday just as the cafe started to fill and glad I got there when I did - it was full within 20 minutes! Great little cafe tucked away amongst the residential area. Serves really good food - I ordered the pesto gnocchi and a freshly squeezed juice. The gnocchi was delightful - really nice pesto served with Parmesan on soft, fluffy mouthfuls of joy! The "refreshmint" juice was also really good! My friend ordered the Moroccan chicken salad which she was very pleased with. If you live in the area, highly recommend a visit!
A little gem near my place. Came here with a friend for our morning coffee. The coffee was great. Strong and taste good. Friend had ice latte, but it came with ice cubes. The place was a bit loud inside, however, there are outside tables.
Came in on a Tuesday arvo, cafe was nice and quiet as there weren't a lot of people. We ordered the pesto gnocchi and smashed pumpkin as well as two coffees. The coffees came out in good time but the food took around half an hour, and we noticed a guy who came in 10 minutes after us got his food served before we did, which was a little disappointing. The gnocchi was good apart from the sauce being a bit watered down, heard no complaints about the smashed pumpkin. Great location, staff were friendly, prices are modest, will be back again!
Has been a pleasure brunching here with my brunching trio! A tiny venue hidden away in a suburban strip offers a home coziness and a very welcoming vibe. The staff are sweet and efficient. The interior is provincial, simple and comforting which matches the style of the menu.
The dishes are healthy, vibrant and wholesome- ranging from light and sweet to salads and more sufficient hearty brunches. There is a hint of Mediterranean/Middle Eastern influence in the flavors. Coffee is of medium strength and smooth finish.
A new favorite local discovery- can't wait to sample more from the menu ☺️💟
Coming across this café in a nice and peaceful suburban setting, I was pleasantly surprised by the good coffee and friendly service. No aloofness in sight! The Moroccan eggs were very tasty. My partners "Ottoman's Breakfast Banquet" was pretty dry, though gets points for uniqueness. Unfortunately we were both still hungry after our meals as the portions were too small for the cost. Very decent quality but definitely not hearty food.I'd certainly drop in for another coffee for the friendly staff and relaxed atmosphere.
1. Smashed sage pumpkin
2. Moroccan eggs with sausage and feta
The smashed pumpkin and eggs were so delicious and satisfying- the crunch from the pumpkin seeks with the sourness of the feta was just the icing on the cake
The Moroccan eggs were also amazing! The winning element was definitely the bread though- that Turkish bread was just perfection and the hummus was a beautiful compliment
We had the Moroccan Eggs for breakfast and it really hit the spot on a cold winter's morning. The bread and hummus was perfect, and the tomato soup was hearty and just the right consistency. Make sure you get it with the sucuk sausage. The coffee was great too - good beans, grind, pour and temperature - very smooth.
If only "The Whippeteers" had such a cafe as this so close to home! The locals here HAVE GOT IT MADE!!!
The coffee is EPIC.
The service is NINJA QUICK. People first thing in the morning seemed to basically walk in and out with their cup of Joe, as if they'd phoned ahead.
But even if you wait a minute of two, it's worth it.
The Whippeteers are CHUFFED to have found this 'hidden' Café! 😃
Great Focaccias ! The Moroccan baked eggs was fantastic . Great coffee blend . Service a bit erratic but a neighbourhood gem we frequent for lunch
Great little cafe, I almost always get there Turkish baked eggs, a coffee and one of their juices.
The staff are real friendly and they have high chairs
The nice smells emanating from this cafe were too good to resist. Stopped by here during our morning walk to purchase a takeaway coffee. Try their 'Monster' coffee size for a good coffee kickstart to your day.
Tucked away gem! This cozy cafe serves up unbelievably good Moroccan baked eggs ! The Turkish bread was so yum I could eat it on its own or with the delicious hummus dip. Highly recommended and will definitely be back !
Had the Moroccan eggs here and they were fabulous!! Really perfect Sunday brunch food, the cafe was nice and cosy with good service. I'm glad it's conveniently located so I can pop in for their delicious chai latte (highly recommend the mad hatter's chai latte!).
Few times we have been to this cafe due to reviews on zomato.
The food here never disappoints. We have tried Moroccan eggs, avo mash, chix schnitzel focaccia and chix sandwich.
I requested coffee of 3/4 strength which was amazing.
The staff are proud of their cafe and the food they made. This is a cafe that I love to come when I have time.
Friend recommend this cafe because they life nearby. Really lovely local cafe with great food. Service was also quite good and I would definitely come back!
Truly a hidden gem! Love that we have this quality food and coffee in our local neighborhood. Always our first choice when looking to grab a quick weekend brunch.
Very cute little cafe, hidden in the middle of a residential area. Not as busy as some of the inner city haunts, but the food quality was right up there! The refreshmint juice was just as refreshing as promised on a warm summer afternoon. The smashed pumpkin with feta and dukkah poached eggs, topped with freshly cracked pepper was perfectly spiced and the meal balanced well. The ottoman's banquet with baked eggs and ciabatta with a selection of dips was equally delicious and with such varied menu options, I'm surprised the cafe isn't more popular! Definitely a new favourite for me, and will be back to try more of the menu!
A little gem that you need to find!
Apart from its obvious quirks, Hyde n seek is the essential that any local has to try. Great coffee, good friendly service and nice food! Couldn't ask for much more
Good baked eggs! Interesting tea selections (move over English breakfast) and yummy fresh juices.
I had the ottomans banquet -fresh and lots to eat. I did have food envy over my friend's baked eggs for its rich flavour.
Good spot to finish your run.
Service and menu are really good and all the staff were lovely. Food is a fair price for what you get, and our only complaint was that some of the flavours were a bit over powering. We both really enjoyed our dishes but had trouble finishing them as they became a bit too much towards the end.
This is now our new lunch spot. The food is always fresh and
tastes so delicious. I had the chicken podella it was so yummy I just wanted to
lick the plate. I had it with a peach mineral water. I highly encourage giving
this place a try as you won’t be left disappointed.
Best cafe in the area, the Moroccan eggs are to die for! Lovely staff + service, reasonable prices, quirky but excellent quality food. Definitely try this place :)

I discovered Hyde n Seek just short drive from my work one day and promised myself I'd take the time to come by and sit and enjoy the meal. After many weeks caught busy by the EOFY I found the solace and time to finally stop by this tucked away suburban café.
I am so excited today as it is my first day of annual leave. Since the exchange rate has been so bad for the Australian dollars, I am trying to delay my travel plans to next year. So for this week, I’m not going away and  just going to sit back, relax and catchup with my friends.
We enjoyed a sensational brunch/lunch on a winters day at this surburan hangout in our local neighbourhood. My dish of smashed pumpkin eggs was absolutely delicious, terrific mix of flavours. Great friendly service and very kid friendly too with accommodating staff who mixed the menu and serving sizes around for our hungry gang. Worth the short drive from High Street Road Ashburton across Warrigal Rd to find Yertchuk Ave...
Most people don't associate many things with the Ashburton or Ashwood area but for me, it's a haven for hidden brunch spots. My recent favourite is Hyde n Seek, Ashwood, a neat little café nestled in an unassuming row of local shops. It was busy with plenty of people seated at the tables, paying the bill, and waiting for takeaways. This didn't stop us from receiving attentive service and friendly smiles. Always a plus when you're made to feel good even before the meal starts!
Love the look of the place, just a bit cold for a Winter's morning! Coffee was full bodied and super creamy, a little more on the bitter side, in a good way. Coeliac friendly menu with variety - I went for the Moroccan Eggs based on other reviews and was not disappointed!
Fresh rustic deliciousness!. I get the poached chicken foccacia. and I'm in love! these guys are my regular 'go to' for lunch now! with delicious tender chicken , rocket, tomato and melting Swiss cheese with a 'to die for' homemade mayo! on a beautiful crunchy fresh Turkish bread! try it! you'll be hooked too! keep up the great service and food guys! :)
Tucked away tucker. Sneaked in here today based on a glowing review in a local magazine plus the positive vibes from this site. Happily I was not disappointed. I followed the advice of the previous reviewers and ordered the Moroccan eggs. Honestly, they were not to my taste but that does not reflect on the quality of the food but the staidness of my tastebuds!! Tucked away in the back streets of Ashwood, if you are looking for yummy food, superb hot chocolate and excellent service ,plug Yertchuk Avenue into the GPS and pay a visit.
Back again to try the baked eggs.... This time I ordered the Moroccan baked eggs as per the reviews. It comes with Turkish bread and hummus. I went with the 'chef suggestion' of Turkish sausage and feta. It was delicious! So tasty I could have eaten it again! I ordered a large skinny cappuccino to go with and was over the moon with the quality and service. This place is now on my Urbanspoon favourite list :)

Stumbled across this place in the back streets of our area & glad I did. We had breakfast around 9.30am on a Sunday and we got a table no worries. The menu has everything you need & the coffee was excellent! I ordered the smashed avo with poached egg & was completely satisfied. Fiancé ordered poached eggs with bacon on Turkish bread & was also satisfied. Best breakfast in the area & we will be back soon as the prices were good too.
Order the Morrocan baked eggs!. Morrocon baked eggs here are soooooo good. Have been here twice and gotten this dish both times. Great rich flavours and something different from the usual brekkie menu!

Environment was nice Servi.... Environment was nice
Service was friendly and attentive
Coffee - had a short black (really bitter - grind was too coarse)
Food - breakfast burrito was average
Moroccan eggs was amazing
Good Local - Coffee always consistently good. This has become my local for coffee. Ever reliable. Great Latte
A superb local. Great coffee and atmosphere. Staff are very friendly and responsive, it's an excellent place for locals and has that family feel to it. If only I lived a little closer!
Delicious food & great service in a nice relaxing spot. Great work guys...
Great Find! Great Service!. Work at the gym down the road and my usual coffee spot was closed, my work mates were telling me how good this place was so I went to check it out. Awesome coffee and the staff were just genuine guys to talk to. Will be making this place my new regular coffee spot! Looking forward to trying out their menu for a bite to eat soon...
Gorgeous cafe in strip of shops with small selectionof breakfast and lunch options.
Delicious zucchini and corn fritters.
Chai latte served up in style.
Friendly staff and reasonable prices.
Will definitely return!
Best brunch place I’ve been to in Melbourne! The food and drink was phenomenal!
Starting with the drinks, I appreciated that the freshly squeezed orange juice didn’t come with an excessive amount of ice like some other places. It was good amount of juice and it was nice and refreshing on a hot Summer’s day.
The iced coffee was also excellent. The coffee profile complemented the ice cream it came with and was again, very much appreciated on a hot day.
Now for the food, the Buddha was a very generous serving! It’s essentially a vego big breakkie with mushrooms, roasted tomatoes, a hash brown, poached eggs (which I believe were done in vinegar as they were the best eggs I’ve had in Melbourne) and a delicious mint avo mixture on toast. It also came with a mini granola bowl which was nice - crunchy and coconutty!
And for the star of the show, the crunchy mushrooms! This dish is Panko crumbed mushrooms which are deep fried to perfection. It also came with crispy kale chips for extra crunch, two perfectly poached eggs and pumpkin purée to provide some sweetness to balance the saltiness of the dish.
One small suggestion is that perhaps you can make the slices of bread a bit thicker so there’s a bit more to chew but that might just be a personal preference.
Friendly service as well as wonderful decor really tops off the whole experience!
I highly recommend visiting this café. The staff in here are very friendly and caring, paired with the delicious food offerings, makes this one of the best brunch spots in Melbourne.
I ordered the chilli scrambled egg for breakfast 🍳 it was both mouth-watering good, and a feast to the eyes 🤤. What a delight it turned out to be, the scrambled egg was exquisite, every bit you take, transcend your mind to heaven. The wonderfully cooked scrambled egg paired with the chili sauce really takes it to the next level, and couple with the perfectly cooked bread, the flagrant explodes with each bite, and when combined with the seasoning, it's as if you're floating into the sky.
The coffee was nice. Nice little coffee shop tucked away in the burbs. Free coffee ground compost too! Thank you
First time here. Delicious dishes, nice environment and good services 😉
Always good coffee and friendly staff. Been going there for quite a while now and they always remember my order.
Yummy breakfasts too.
Amazing food, great coffee and friendly staff!
Can’t help but keep coming back
