I live in Wollongong and probably one of the best Turkish restaurants I have been into Australia.
The service was great even though the restaurant was so busy. Food came out quick and it was fresh, tasty and everything else you want at a local restaurant.
My personal favourite is the mixed shish kebab plate with ayrin drink. For those that do not know an ayran drink is a type of turkish beverage that contains yogurt.
Recommend this restaurant to everyone who wants to have a good meal and not leave a restaurant hungry.

I have had shish kebabs all over the world, including Turkey, and this place is hands down the best shish kebab i have ever had, try the mixed shish plate.

New Star kebabs are the best food around in Auburn. The authentic aroma of there specialities can be smelt from a distance which increases the appetite.
Limited space is the only issue, I wish it can build another level for us to sit more comfortably

Was not a big fan of the Hummus / Yoghurt dip.
Service, flavour and price was spot on for us to come back again and dine with them

New Star has some of the most delicious kebabs I’ve had in Sydney! You can really taste the quality and flavours in their dishes, plus they’re reasonably priced and huge portions, so you know you’re getting your money’s worth. Everything here is worth trying, but especially the kebabs and dips. Would come back here again regularly if I didn’t live far.
My new favourite kebab joint. Honestly, the service was so fast and food came out very quickly. Everything was so fresh and delicious and I am living for that dipping plate!! Highly recommend if you're ever in the Auburn area.

For seriously tasty traditional good Turkish food that is fresh with substantial servings, where you will certainly not feel hungry afterwards - New Star Kebab Family Restaurant ticks all these boxes!. As soon as we were seated, a plate arrived with three sauces - chilli, hommus and yogurt. The guys serving here certainly provide a quick and efficient service!
The meats on the spits looked much better than average but the lamb came out a little dry. With the fairly low prices and big kebabs, it's still near the top for value. The skewer plates cost a lot more but I was staring at the skewer meats for a while and they looked amazing, so could be well worth a sit down meal.
This was the doner kebab platter ($18.90) ft meat, rice, salad, turkish bread and hummus/sour cream/chilli oil. Fed enough for two people with extra bread to go ;) Such a satisfying and hearty meal, would definitely recommend coming here for a feed.
In the area with all the shops in Auburn, this place was quiet busy during lunch time. Had a chicken kebab plate, it was quite nice. Liked the turkish bread, the chicken and the side salad. Good place to try.
In Short: New Star Kebab is a rockstar of Auburn. Of course, you can assume they do stellar kebabs and shish plates, but it’s the pizzas and pides which will delight. Rock up in the evening and look for the neon lights, or be lured in by the aromas during the day, either way you will leave well fed and satisfied.
Been here twice now for takeaway and can’t wait to come back to eat in. Great casual eatery with a few veggie options. The guys a super friendly, the food is plentiful and it’s really affordable. You can’t go wrong really.

What’s not to love about a place like this. Great value, tasty food and servings so large and generous that you’ll be full for a week. New Star is located in the heart of Auburn’s main strip serving up a range of Turkish food for the masses. Look out for the street frontage windows, one showcasing the huge pizzas and pide, the other showcasing the skewers cooking over hot coals, doing a great job of enticing passers by.
I was craving a HSP so I came here to grab one. I ordered the chicken HSP with three sauces: chilli, garlic yoghurt and BBQ. The portions are huge and I could not even finish half of this by myself. The chicken is juicy and not dry at all.
A short distance away from the station this more than just kebabs restaurant was buzzing with lots of people eager to get their feed for lunch. All the food that I could eye people devouring made me super hungry and enthusiastic for lunch. The service is friendly and hospitable.
A group of us gathered for lunch and we ordered enough for us to sample the extensive menu they had. Our favourites included the tasty mixed dips with the fantastic flat breads. We very much enjoyed the Iskender Kebab Plate. Lots of kebab meat slathered with yoghurt and tomato based sauce. The Sucuklu Pide with sausage, cheese and egg was well made and really delicious. I thoroughly enjoyed the Cheese And Spinach Gozleme. Nicely thin and great flavours.
Mixed shish plates and hot chips were both good but this place is a bit overrated. It was so hyped up I thought it’d be something out if this world... 😂 although it’s better than the average kebab shop, it is more expensive as well.

Auburn has significantly changed over the years. My family often come back to New Star Kebab for a meal over the years. New Star Kebab is an institution in Auburn. On the surface, it just looks like any other kebab shop but the locals know it's a tasty venue for a good price. I am catching up with my foodie friends CocoandVine who have recently been travelling so it's a good opportunity to catch up. We get a table outside and start chatting. Before I know it, most of the tables outside are filled by 12pm and there are a number of tables inside which are also filled.
This is the best place for kebab in Sydney.
The name might say kebabs but they definitely offer many more dishes than just kebabs.
Spacious seating area is available inside and outside. Perfect if you come with a large group of people.
Most dishes come in very generous portions. The pizzas are gigantic!
Everything was delightful but my personal favourites have to be the mixed shish plate, gozleme, HSP and pide.
The place was packed with customers when I dined there (Sunday lunch), but service was pretty quick.

It's Friday night and Auburn is teeming with people. This Western Sydney suburb has a lot more high-rise than I remember from nigh on thirty years ago, and the cultural diversity is wider with Chinese, Turkish, Lebanese, Nepalese and Indian ancestry making up the suburb's top five. Weathering both the upwards growth and the cultural shift, New Star Kebab Family Restaurant has been serving the good people of Auburn for forty years...
It is a right of passage for people of Western Sydney to go on a late night kebab run, and personally i believe that New Star Kebabs is the pinnacle of all establishments
What makes them different?
-They're open till 1am (or even later)
-Their menu is a lot more diverse and larger compared to other kebab places, plus they use Turkish bread for the kebabs
-Servings are a lot more bigger
The place itself is packed with people of all ages, and in large groups. Plus, servers hastily moving back and forth to clean tables and take orders.
Definitely give it a try!
Its real good and to compliment it has a good and quick service, whilst the best part is its cooking right in front of you.
Its a good spread for one person, and if you want variety you must take your friends along.
The chicken is soft and nicely cooked, whilst the veggies which come along are so fresh!

I have a theory that if a place is bustling with customers that place usually serves good food. New star reaffirms that theory. The staff are friendly as well.
We ordered the mix shish and the pepperoni pizza. Each food comes with a side of three dips. Yogurt, humus and chili paste.
The only problem I had with the pizza was that the pepperoni tasted a bit bland and should have been saltier. But regardless the thick cuts of pepperoni on that tasty tomato sauce base , with the beautifully charred base made that pizza work for us.
But the real stars of the joint were the meats. Extremely juicy, tender and marinated with just the right amount of spices to let the flavor of the meat shine.
Then comes the soft Turkish bread that compliments the food so well.

Always drive past this place and wanted to try the kebabs. Food was good but have tried better. Very busy and friendly staff. Cash only which is a bit of an inconvenience.
We went out on a limb one lazy Sunday afternoon and decided we’d drive to Auburn for lunch. We didn’t quite know where we were going to eat, but we did know that we felt like a Middle Eastern feast. Driving through the main shopping strip, our attention was caught by the crowds outside New Star Kebab – we knew this was a place that we just had to try.
Very friendly staff. Try and get a seat outdoors, it’s great to get caught up in the Auburn atmosphere. Very different from the city, it almost felt like I was in another country - love that.
The food here is fantastic. We went with the shish mixed plate and were not disappointed. The meat was so tender, juicy and flavoursome.
Especially liked the sauce plate, which along with the staples of yogurt and hummus also included a very tasty (and spicy mind you) chilli sauce.
Came down to see what all the fuss was about at what looks to be just another ordinary kebab joint. Ordered the mixed shish plate. The in house Turkish bread was good and the meats were barbecued well. Very bustling atmosphere and overall positive experience.

Best "Kebab" Restaurant I've been to. Extremely clean place compared to any other "Kebab" place. The chicken and meat was fresh and cooked well. Extra care was given when eating in and the place has a vibrant buzzing feel when eating outside tables. 5 Stars!
I judge most Middle Eastern restaurants on the quality of their breads and grills and New Star pass the test on both counts. An incredibly busy diner, with alfresco pavement seating, the staff juggle a lot of orders and deliver excellent food. We recently ate there and had a mixed meats grill (beef and chicken), a falafel plate and chips. I would say the falafels were just ok. I've had much better. But the grill, salads, bread and chips are what you come for. Great smoky, savoury flavours complimented by the roasted peppers, onion and red cabbage. First rate!

Updated: Recently went back to Sydney nearly missed our flight because of how bad i wanted to get Gozleme before i left. AMAZING as always and huge portion sizing for $11.
If you travel to Sydney and don't check out this place in Auburn you are missing out.
Firstly we went on a Thursday night and the place was absolutely packed! We waited for a table outside, and the atmosphere was phenom. I felt like i was back home. I think living in a quiet place like NZ you miss these things.
We ordered the Ispanakli Pide which was nice. Not amazing.
My favourite was the Kiyanali Pide.. OMG... such a good portion size we had to take away half of the Isapanakli and Kiyanali. Lots of toppings and great value.
It's worth waiting for a table. Don't expect 5 star service. Just exepect good food and a great atmosphere.
HSP is one of a kind. The chilli sauce is not your squeezy bottle kind - expect the dried chilli with chilli oil kind! Mixed HSP was a bit pricey and had more doner than chicken but damn those chips are amazing! Only drawback is that the garlic sauce needed more garlic power.
Have been coming here for years and the food is always tasty. Mostly ordering the 'mixed shish plate,' it comes with a yummy variety of meats and a great portion of rice. The lamb was very tough, however. In general, the place is affordable, yummy, and fits the context of Auburn well through its ambience. Will be back, as I have always.
I've been here every new year eve before going to Church, this place never let me down! I love this place so much with friendly staffs, various flavours, delicious turkish food s, busy atmosphere!!! I haven't been to Turkey but this is the Turkish foods.

A good restaurant, their food is tasty, portions are huge. A heaven for meat lovers. A must visit place if u happen to be nearby. Meat was tender and moist.
We had ordered, mixed shish kebab platter , chicken kebab plate and French fries with chicken salt sprinkled on it. Lamb was a bit tough but chicken kebab plate tasted great and it was worth every penny. I would come back for sure.
Delicious Turkish food with amazing flavours. Location is on the Main Street although parking can be tricky in peak times. This place has my number one snack pack because the chips are super crunchy with no sogginess at all.
Had the HSP (snack pack). The service is really friendly, and quite unlike any kebab shop I've been to, you order at the counter, the food is brought out to you and you can pay when you leave.
The snack pack was really great value at $12 for a very generous serving of meat and not too many chips. The meal was very well sauced, and overall, a very cheap filling meal.
They were still quite busy when I went on a Tuesday night (around 10pm) but plenty of seats indoors and outdoors.
very different type of dining experience here, you can order and pay after you've eaten (well its different for kebab style shops). the kebab is very good, although i cant seem to justify it as the best in sydney, definitely great in terms of taste just not leagues ahead as some ppl make it out to be

Finally got the chance to dine in New Star kebabs, in Auburn. First up, it was relatively busy for a Monday evening. In this joint, you order and pay at the counter, and they bring out the food out to you.
I ordered the double shish plate. It comes with 2 skewers of your choice (I opted for chicken and lamb), tomato pieces (odd), sliced onion, red cabbage dressed with lemon, roasted tomato (yum) and a roasted green chilli (hot). All of this is covered with cut, fresh Lebanese bread.
The bread was fantastic, fluffy and moist. The chicken shish was grilled well, tasting smoky due to the grilling on the charcoal, and faintly of carrom seeds. I found it quite nice. The lamb was average in taste, however, cooked to perfection. I also got a side dish containing a dash of garlic sauce, hummus and chilli flakes in oil. The sauces were average, nothing to write home about.
I felt that the best way to enjoy the meal was to make your own kebab using the different ingredients available on the plate. I think you will be slightly disappointed if you eat each item individually.
Overall, I did not feel the food did justice to all the other reviews that I had read. Maybe I will have to go back on a weekend!!
Went there to have a chicken snack pack. The dish itself looked so much tempting. One of the most delicious snack packs, I have ever had. The sauces were too good. Quantity was great.
Amazing. The plates are amazing and never disappoint. May be a bit pricey but it's worth it. Free sauce and workers always wanna help out. Everything on the menu is literally so delicious. My favourite includes the half lamb and half chicken plate. Also open till late as well. Food doesn't take too long either.
Love how this place is open till late. I always tend to learn towards the adana plate or roll. Kebabs are good too, but more on the greasier side. Hygiene could be well improved, on numerous occasions they would take your money with the same hand they used to make your food, which makes eating your food less enjoyable..
Just normal average kebabs nothing too special, I guess it would be a good place for the local people but as a visitor to auburn(as I usually live across the bridge) I'm not intend to come back for it. Satisfied food and a ok for the service

The real stars of the show at this Turkish joint are the shish kebabs, cooked on giant skewers that look like flattened swords. That’s no coincidence either. It’s said that Persian soldiers in the Medieval Age used their swords as makeshift skewers to cook meat over an open fire.
New Star Kebabs is without a doubt the best place in the area for kebabs, whenever I'm in the area and need a quick bite I visit for either the delicious kebab (add garlic sauce) or the gozleme which is soft and flavoursome. The joint is always busy so be prepared for a slight wait most of the time!

Solid Turkish Food; So-So Ambience and Service. We arrived at New Star Kebabs looking for a good feed and a good feed we found! The food was soon ordered, given what we could see about the queues at the place and the service. Promptly, we were seated inside the store and felt cramped as soon as we were sat, with people rushing to and fro along the tiny spaces between the counter and this area where they prepare kebabs and bread and the counter, between the counter and tables, and between the tables and tables.
Food arrived shortly, with complementary bread, condiments (real, homemade ground chilli in chilli oil; garlic sauce or cacık, pronounced jajik; and hummus), and cutlery. The food not only smelled scrumptious but was scrumptious. On top of that, the prices are rather reasonable for the amount of food given. The variety of food cannot be faulted, as we have yet to see a place in Sydney that does so many Turkish dishes. (However, we disclaim that we have yet to try all the Turkish eateries in Sydney and are welcome to any suggestions that might offer a broader variety of dishes.)
Unfortunately, the ambience and service are letdowns of New Star Kebabs. As mentioned above, the aisles and general layout of the store makes for an unpleasant experience, as does the service or most of the service from interactions with staff. Unless you know how to get on the good side of these guys (not that they are downright unpleasant or anything), go in, get your order down, get fed, and get out. Service from the waitstaff, if you can call them that, can be hit and miss, depending on which members of their staff attend to you.
All in all, New Star Kebabs is the go-to place for Turkish until we find something that unseats it. In fact, we are still craving it and now regretting not getting what we had left over from our meal in a takeaway container (free, by the way), because the portions are fairly generous!
Great Chicken Kebabs!. Came here for dinner and had the chicken kebab plate which had: chicken kebab, rice, salad and Turkish bread. The chicken kebab, rice and the Turkish bread were all good. There was way too much salad. Prices are reasonable, I had all of the above + drink for $18. This place is obviously popular as it's teeming with people every hour. The only bad thing is that, they only accept cash but other than that, I highly recommend this joint to all.
Without question some of the best middle eastern food I've ever had. Great selection, meats grilled to perfection and fast service. Went there at 8pm and the place was still busy, and they still managed to get our food to us within 5min of ordering. Mixed kebab platter was the best but the borecki and pizzas were good as well. Load it up with chili oil and hummus and you've got a winning meal. I wish more people knew about it, but also want it to stay a secret so I can always get a seat!
Best turkish kebabs in Sydney. Best kebabs in town. I've been frequenting New Star for over 10 years now and food is always great. They do the best lamb doner and rice is amazing but the bread is to die for. They also do home made Ayran which is great. The tabouli is not great but its not a leb restaurant so thats quite understandable. The freshly made Pides and gozlemes are brilliant.
Also they do home made chilli which is quite hot but tastes really good so do give it a try. Not the best ambiance for eating in but that not what New Star is about. It's about mouth watering Turkish food.
