My Family and Friends absolutely loved the food. Great portion sizes, melt in your mouth. And they usually criticize but not one. Staff were extremely friendly. Be back
Great place. Was worth the visit and Yummy food š
This little gem is under new management. I haven't been to the Balhannah Hotel for many years but today I was very pleased with my experience here. I'm a sucker for a chicken schnitzel with mushroom sauce and it is rare to find one that ticks all the boxes. The chicken breast was succulent and the mushroom had bags of flavor. I did wait a little longer than I would've liked however the meal I was delivered was worth the wait. I recommend stopping into the Balhannah Hotel next time you are in the Adelaide Hills.
The Balhannah Hotel Est 1840, is located in the picturesque Adelaide Hills, between Verdun and Oakbank, Being close to the Oakbank Race Course, Amy Gillett Bikeway, several major wineries, unique specialty shops, makes for an ideal stop, to enjoy an affordable lunch, dinner or a drink, while enjoying the atmosphere of an older style Australian Pub.
With a cosy open fire in the back ground while dining in the classic Art Deco dining room, a buzz of satisfied diners, very relaxing. The menu, focuses on Modern Australian cuisine, with a Mediterranean, Asian influence, plus Classic Pub favourites, Roast of the day etc, we were ready to order.
We enjoyed two mains from a comprehensive menu, both plates were excellent, very relaxing over a good house wine. Completing our dinner with two very nice desserts, Sticky Date pudding. The service was personal and friendly, with out any overly long delays. We have had dinner at this hotel on a number of occasions, always left satisfied. Easy to understand why this hotel is busy, As a recommendation, book a table in advance.
Another lovely Balhannah place. After passing through The Lane/ Shaw & Smith, we had to try the Balhannah pub because someone had really recommended it to me. Best pubmeals ever! We had the lamb korma on sticks---- so tender and subtle in flavour. My vegetarian dish was a mixture of things, with falafel and stuffed flower and a saad with interesting herbs. Every bit was done well. I don't know much about the chef, but he/ she sure knows what he/ she is doing
I have met here for family birthdays quite a few times.
To be honest, it's okay. Ā The decor has some hints of proper design, but then it's plastered with blue tacked posters for beer promotions. Ā I quite like the wrought iron chairs with 'Balhannah' written on them. Ā Not sure if for aesthetic or to make them tricky to steal. Ā Either way, I like little things like that!
The dining space is always busy and their meals are big, diverse and filling. I had the Chicken & Prosciutto Roulade which was big and delicious. Ā The quinoa and vegetable salad was probably my favourite thing on the plate as it was zesty and really tasty.
My partner had the duck... and he really didn't like it. Ā He said it was fatty (not rendered down enough), bland and disappointing. Ā My coeliac nanna wasn't that happy that she had to pay extra for Gluten Free bread.
I enjoyed my meal, but some others on our table weren't as happy.
Nice pub in the Adelaide Hills well worth a visit . I had the chicken rouladeĀ
And found the meal delicious. Also a good wine list . I wouldn't hesitate
To come back again next time I'm in the area .
Well worth the walk..go there immediately. This is one of the best restaurants I have ever been to in my life, and I'm not exaggerating.
It was a cold dark night in Oakbank, and we'd walked 7km from our accommodation to find food. We'd heard on the wire from a horse trainer in town for the Oakbank races that there was a 'good pub' in the town, and thankfully we didn't settle for the first one we crossed, which was only serving pizza. We might as well have ordered in, we thought, as we kept walking. We arrived cold and starving at the quaint little pub with the understated name - and were glad we did.
Entree was a trio of homemate dips with turkish bread and olive oil, which went down a treat with the Shiraz (the name escapes me) we'd ordered from the bar. For mains I had the most perfectly cooked sizzling garlic prawns I'd ever eaten in my life, accompanied by more fresh bread. My mum had a goats' cheese and vegetable gnocci, which was again - perfection. Looking at other tables, the meals coming out of the kitchen were as beautifully presented and looked just as appetising as ours did. The chef here is clearly passionate about what he does for a living and takes pride in every meal he prepares. We couldn't believe that such a treasure could be found at reasonable pub prices, which could have charged Rockpool prices and you'd still feel like you got value for money. I feel like this is a rare gem we found, but the experience was too good to keep a secret. Go - before the chef gets poached by a fine dining establishment!
First came here in 2019 and again in 2022.
I had the Californian Super Food Bowl both times.
It's a light but filling vegetarian meal, that's a nice alternative to the pastas, burgers or pizzas on most vegetarian menus.
They had a free trivia night when we were there which was fun as well.
Great menu and the food was excellent. The staff were very friendly and attentive. We went on Mother's Day and they still managed to be fairly quick despite it being very busy. They have upgraded the place since we last went and they have lots of extra tables and a new outdoor space that looks good.
Customer service was great. Nice quality food. Outside patio area is nice and clean. Dinning out the front looks interesting maybe ideal for warm weather afternoons. Beer garden out the back is quite tidy and has a back yard feel.
Great lunch time meals. Had beef ragu fettuccine twice and was great both times.
Recently had the most beautiful butterscotch schnapps cheesecake with chocolate topping. Best Easter treat I could ask for. I'm still thinking of it hours after the fact and will definitely be back for another and another.
Lunch at Balhannah Hotel...Beer battered Barra & Schnitzel with Balhannah Mexicana topping...value for money, tasty and quick delivery. Generous with the salad dressing.... thankyou š
