Review Yellow Espresso - Ballarat

Kristen
Cute cafe with great food, coffee and service. Went here on a Sunday morning, very popular but we walked up at the right time and managed to get the last table available. I recommend sitting outside as it offers a really nice experience. Almond flat white and soy cappuccino were really good and the two egg dishes we ordered were quite large serves, super fresh and tasted great.

Lovely customer service with a smile, warm inside and a great breakfast menu etc, very nice coffee and tea.

Friendly service, food was delicious and well priced šŸ˜‹ Also, the kids menu here has good options for little ones, my daughter loved the fruits yogurt cup šŸ“šŸŒ

Wonderful cafe located right in the middle of town. Great service and excellent food and superb coffee. Bright modern space. The menu has some lovely variations on the standard breakfast offerings. Loved the St Kilda eggs, and the Yellow scrambled eggs were amazing! Highly recommend.

Good location, grate service coffee is good. Farm house style decor lacking a bit of finesse with miss match condiment dispensers (switching from glass to factory cardboard) I thought the Parma was small dry and over cooked chips were nice but scarce. Toilets are up stairs via the kitchen public toilets close by though.

Donā€™t even waste your time or money. The food was as expected from a venue with this vibe (nothing exceptional, but good), but the customer service left a bad taste in our mouths. We could over look the dry and cold nature of the waitresses we had, the worst was the barista. After noting we had milk missing from our coffee order, I approached the counter and patiently waited for them to ask about the missing milk. The barista looks up and glares at me, not asking or saying anything, just waiting. When I said that we had some milk missing she said our order was coming (when the coffee had already arrived) and I noticed a milk sitting on the bench and asked if that was ours. In response, she snatches the milk and storms over to our table and puts it down. Iā€™m still waiting at the counter. She comes back, not even addressing me. I return to the table in disbelief. We then hear her making remarks about the second part of our order, then also berating her fellow staff in a very public manner - so public that our toddler heard and repeated the remark to us (anyone with a toddler knows they repeat anything they hear). Given that all their low reviews are in line with horrible customer service, youā€™d think that they would have changed by now. They only reason they get the foot traffic they do is because of Google. If youā€™re looking for a delicious breakfast, scrap this place and go to Hydrant. The food there is remarkable, the coffee is delicious and the actual venue is large and child friendly.

Great food, great coffee and the service from Bianca was faultless. She was very friendly and just helped us all start our day wonderfully šŸ˜€ Can't wait to come back next time we are in town.

Great place, awsome coffee (maybe its just my taste but i find their coffee to be the best in Ballarat)perfect temperature and blend of coffee vs milk, super friendly staff, yummy breakfast (new skool smash is a must try). Glad to have found this place to have periodic breakfasts and coffee, after having moved

Delicious food, great coffee and friendly, attentive staff. We went for brunch on a Sunday. The place was packed yet the staff seemed relaxed and were more than happy to attend to our extra food requests. I'd happily recommend Yellow Espresso and will definitely be returning next time I'm in Ballarat.

The coffee was great just as good as any in Melbourne, the food service was ok in terms of the friendly staff but to wait 40mins for food is not good enough, that doesn't make for a great experience, best off going to the second best coffee place in town!
Debra Swann
Great coffee, great food and the services was very good for a busy place!! I have been here a few times when ever I am travelling to or thru Ballarat.. I cannot image getting my coffee anywhere else if I am in the area! Highly recommend!! Even my friends were impressed!
Steffany Lendrec
Went here for brunch on Saturday, very disappointed in the service. I understand it was busy, but waiting 55 minutes for a latte is just beyond ridiculous. Staff were slow, and didnā€™t seem to really care. We had already finished our food before coffees arrive, even reminding staff multiple times. No apology when paying for the wait. Just not good enough. Donā€™t bother if you want to actually enjoy your coffee with your breakfast. ļæ½

I would happily drive from Coburg again!! Blueberry pancakes and coffee were amazing šŸ’™šŸ’™ buzzing with a great atmosphere and the staff were fabulous.

Beautiful food and great service! Got 7 of us in late notice for Motherā€™s Day and it did not disappoint! Would go back!

Went here for breakfast this morning with my wife. She ordered scrambled eggs. Worst eggs ever, oily, tasted like fried eggs not scrambled, she couldnā€™t eat them. When the waitress came around to see how our meals were my wife told them and the lady took the feedback to the kitchen. However no offer to replace them or anything. My corn fritters were okay, but nothing to write home about. At least it was a good size serve. When we went to pay at the end the waitress apologised for the eggs but still charged us for them! Seriously! Disappointed

Exceptional! This cafe easily rivals Melbourne's best. Perfect coffee, beautiful food with GF and vegan options. My favourite for sure.

Fabulous fresh flavoursome food. Quick and courteous service. Delicious coffee. Very reminiscent of Higher Ground in Melbourne. A little hidden treasure that I have thankfully discovered. ļæ½ļæ½ļæ½ļæ½ļæ½ļæ½

Friendly, professional and helpful staff in a vibrant and bright atmosphere, absolutely bustling with activity. Great coffee, lovely freshly squeezed juice, and fine tea. The corn and zucchini fritters topped with a poached egg covered in relish and rocket was to die for. Even fussy eaters like me can be satisfied with eggs cooked to perfection as requested. Try the large array of cakes and biscuits. Give Yellow Expresso a go, you won't be disappointed.

Absolutely spot on. Delicious coffee and food! Nice friendly staff in a busy little place. ļæ½

Arrived in Ballarat on a Sunday arvo expecting very little to be open but the cafe was vibrant! Had coffee and cake - good barista and service.Highly recommend..
Laura J Parker
Friendly, quick service even though it's akways busy however...Ordered snoked salmon as a side and got 1 slice.... not sure if that was worth it. Pretty disappointing.

wow, fabulous and pretty coffee and the blueberry pancakes.... to die for.. very St Kilda... so happy I finally got here .. lovely staff too... will definitely be back

During my trip down Ballarat, I have been hanging out for a good coffee and so happened Yellow Espresso uses Axil coffee beans, great!

Waited about 15 mins for an outdoor table, quickly ordered some food and coffee. The penne was a little on the salty side but the rest of the food was quite nice. Most important of all, the coffee was just right!
Christy.destradi
Wanted to have some drinks but ended up ordering corn fritters and chilli scrambled eggs. Both delicious. Had latte, matcha latte, liquid passion, strawberry milkshake. All nice!

We got to experience how Ballarat does coffee and ā€˜brunchā€™ with a breakfast date at Yellow Espresso before continuing our weekend of exploring Ballaratā€™s vibrant food scene. The offerings were fairly simple but the freshness of the ingredients, overall balance of flavours and execution faultless. Needless to say, our picks of the smashed avo and corn fritters went down a treat, especially when paired with a quality cuppa joe.

Just came in here at the end of the day for a hot drink. Chai Latte did not disappoint! Uses real tea leaves. The way it is meant to be!
Barry Kennedy
Friendly staff and awesome food! Was super busy, but we received great service and were seated as soon as a table was available. Will definitely be back again!

We stopped by this cafe on our way to Adelaide.. it was pretty busy for a little cafe out in Ballarat.. the decor was pretty nice too..
We only had some coffee with brownies and it was delectable.. the brownies felt very homemade and matched with coffee it was just perfect..

Great place to spend weekends, staff so friendly, we are five, staff asked other customers to move to the smaller table that we have plenty place to sit.
Egg Benedict is big portion with rich hollandaise sauce, but not greasy.
Corn fritters are crispy with a poached egg, refreshing your weekends.
So recommend this lovely place and lovely people.

Me and my boyfriend were there for lunch last Sunday and here is what we ordered,
- Penne Amatriciana
The pasta was cooked al dente but the sauce was too salty.
- Falafel burger
Love the presentation of the dish, the beetroot bun was so soft and the sweet potato fries was so crispy and yum.
- Fresh squeezed orange juice
- Green tea Latte
- Butter bing Cookies

Overall they served nice coffee with friendly staff but took too long for the food to come out (it was almost 40mins waiting for the food)
Hands down... the best breakfast i have had! had the chilli scramble... and spicy baked egg! food was quick service was friendly... its was open on a sunday and it was packed but still good!

Friendly staff. Great coffee. I had the Avo smash with a side of bacon. Very generous portion and perfectly poached eggs. My wife had the Corn fritters. 3 good sized fritters which were crunchy and full of flavour. Very impressed.
After a lovely drive we arrived to Ballarat Sunday morning nice little town and we decided to have breakfast after walking we saw yellow espresso was busy so we decided to give a go. Breakfast was good we got avo smash with a poached egg great service and good coffee.

Thursday morning 10am - the cafe is busy for takeaways and tables. I managed to score a table for myself straight away. The floor staff were lovely and friendly and the food was good. I enjoyed my corn fritters with a poached egg, tomato relish, avocado and added salmon on the side which was delightfully filling. The only negative thing was the ownerā€™s attitude. She was on the coffee machine pumping out drinks. I realised I hadnā€™t paid for my parking bay and had to go do that once I ordered. I was trying to tell the owner this over a noisy busy cafe and her response was ā€œI have no idea what youā€™re talking aboutā€ in a very snarky way. Dear owner of Yellow Espresso: itā€™s nice to be important but itā€™s more important to be nice.

This review only based on what I am ordering and the situation back there.

I ordered Chicken and Truffle Linguini. It tasted awesome but it has too much truffle oil in it so after you finish 4/5 of your plate the leftover will be covered in oil.

For the drink I ordered the Chai Latte. Their chai taste good since they use original chai blend rather than the powder.

Tasted my friend's Spicy Scrambled Eggs and it tasted amazing.

I think the current menu is already different from the uploaded version here.

The ambient of the cafe is all relaxing so its a good place.

Customer service is nice and didn't see anything wrong in it.

So overall 4/5

Lovely cafe, great atmosphere, really nice coffee.
The food was very well presented and the taste was forever lasting. The detail that went into the dishes and coffee even the milk shakes had a little hint of yellow everywhere really made the expierence, looking forward to go back and try the rest of the menu!
Delightful experience, attentive service, excellent coffee, quality produce and presentation. Complement to the front and back of house - a well run business
I had high hopes for this place after looking at the menu, but was quite disappointed. I got the steak sandwich, which consisted of a thin piece of steak, one lettuce leaf, and a slice of canned beetroot. The bread was lightly toasted, and very difficult to cut with the steak knife or eat with my hands. My fiancƩe had the beer batter fish, which had two thin pieces of fish and more chips than she could eat. Probably won't be going back, at least not for the food. The place itself is quite nice other than the toilet being located on the second storey. You have to go through the kitchen to get to it. The wait staff were very friendly.

Found this brunch place while strolling around Ballarat last year with my partner. The place was pretty busy when we went there (assuming it gets busy on most days, since we donā€™t live in Ballarat), but luckily, we got two outdoor seats right away.

I ordered chicken parmigiana and green tea latte, and my partner had fish and chips and cappuccino. The price was pretty decent for the portion that we got ā€” it was quite big, I couldnā€™t finish my food! We didnā€™t have to wait for ages to get our food, so that was a plus.

The staffs were attentive, and they made sure the ones seated outdoor also got served well, considering how busy they were when we were there ā€” another plus. I canā€™t really say much about the ambiance, but I think it was good, comfy, and clean ā€” typical brunch place, but this was a quite good brunch place to stop by in Ballarat :-)

Outstanding cafe for breakfast in the heart of Ballarat Main Street. Basic menu, excellent coffee, top service, cool decor and tasty well presented food to match. As good as the best we have been to in Melbourne, worth a visit.
Susan Rodrigues
The coffee is way too bitter and very expensive. It is also very crowded and while it is crowded the staff were unattentive and quite aggressive in their manner when they finally served you. I certainly won't be going back.
Alex
A good sized cafe in the heart of Ballarat. Modern white decor, and that perfect brunch menu with all your favourites. Loved the corn fritters, a huge serving with an amazingly cooked egg on top. My partner ordered the smashed avo - will say, wasn't as special as my food. Coffee great as well! Bonsoy used here

Visited this cafe on my way back from Halls gap! Amazing food and coffee! Didn't expect such good service in Ballarat . Very impressed šŸ˜Š soy latte and golden latte šŸ‘Œ
The Pet Roo
Ordered the corn fritters, poached egg was perfect & served on rocket with a nice sweet relish. The fritters were good but but as I've eaten many fritters I wouldn't say they were outstanding as that aerated and fluffy texture interior and crisp exterior I look for wasn't there. The Avocado on the side gave the dish a lovely freshness. The coffee was smooth and exactly how I like it. My friend enjoyed his eggs Benedict with an added side of mushrooms which were chard and juicy. He enjoyed his Matcha latte though the residue powder at the bottom of the glass wasn't nice.

First time coming to Ballarat to visit sovereign hill! Since we were coming from Ararat we had to eat breakfast here! Definitely not complaining though! They had a wide variety of different breakfasts. I always struggle finding a place that both my sister and myself life, as she is into all the healthy stuff where as I'm into the big breakfasts. So of course I got the big breakfast with some added chorizo. It was delicious and filled me up for the rest of the day. If I come back to Ballarat again I'll be definitely visiting this cafe šŸ˜Š

this place was amazing!! first time in Ballarat, and it was just to stop for some breaky and we DEFINITELY chose the best place to get it! the staff were super friendly, and the food was crazy amazing!!!!!!! I wish this place was closed to where i lived so i could come here every day!
Antonio
Loved the food here, the coffee was better than in Melbourne city and the staff are great. Would definitely recommend Yellow Espresso when visiting Ballarat.
This is my go to spot for great coffee in Ballarat, only down side is I wish they were open every single day! Absolutely love this place, always highly suggested.

Awesome place! Fresh, funky and friendly are the three words that spring to mind when I think back on Yellow Espresso. The food was fresh, delicious and a feast for the eyes! 110% recommend the pancakes served with strawberries and ice cream... a real treat. Coffee was also very good, being one of the best in Ballarat in my opinion. Staff were friendly and very helpful. Will definitely return here on all future trips to Ballarat!

In Ballarat for five days. This will be my go to place for breakfast and coffee. Solid but not great. The young staff need some training. Prices are good compared to Melbourne. I tried the corn fritters, deep fried, wrong - otherwise the meal was tasty an filled a hole.

Blink and you'll miss it, Yellow Espresso is a hidden treasure on the main strip in Ballarat. Delivering aromatic coffee and a great range of menu items (the corn fritters are a must!), it's well worth a visit when travelling in the area.

Read the full review at four4brunch.com
Out And About
Cool spot in central Ballarat - if you are in he area this is one of the spots where it's happening. We stopped in for coffee during a weekend trip and though their breakfast menu looked great we didn't try anything so can't add much - as far as atmosphere and coffee is concerned though šŸ‘Œ

I was really worried when driving up to regional Victoria that I wouldn't be able to find a proper Almond milk Chai latte but this place saved my life, there was no need to find or try any other place. We stuck with this eatery the whole trip. The Prana Chai was actually one of the best I've had and consistent too - probably had 5 all up and all were dreamy. Sister had the fruit toast and there were 6 pieces all up - a very generous portion and good too.

The pancakes texture is bit hard, not soft. the egg and mushroom is oily and we wait quite long to have food, reallyslow. Coffee was bad, but no surprise.
FoodDude
Awesome Coffee & Great Food!!! Came here for Breakfast and wasn't disappointed. The food was lovely and fresh. Definitely recommend it to anyone!

Happened upon Yellow Espresso on our way through Ballarat. The first thing we noticed was it was a full house - in regional cities like this, although people can be fickle and the place to be changes quickly, if a venue is busy, it's a good sign it's at least ok! And this place was ok. With all an day breakfast menu and speedy service, good coffee there is not much to not like. Our table of four ordered the smashed avocado toast, blueberry pancakes, BLT and the corn and zucchini fritters. Whilst all were enjoyed, two stood out - the pancakes had plentiful blueberries, both in it and on it and the nuts gave extra crunch and texture. The corn fritters were fluffy and topped off with a crown of poached egg and tangy tomato relish - just delicious!
The only drawback? The toilet needs an overhaul but i reckon they may just already know that! It's pretty ordinary and not at all in keeping with the trendy clean industrial vibe of the cafe itself.
JP
We came here in the late afternoon - had the special matcha pancake which was very pretty. The Matcha latte was not very good though.. However their service is great and the coffee is nice. Will come back again to try the hot food!

Had a great cafe breakky up here on a Saturday morning - got in early and had no problem getting a table. Food was great, pancakes as pictured were tasty without being too sweet and the scrambled eggs were unique and flavourful. The big breakky loved up to its name although would've like to have seen a homemade hashbrown instead of the generic fried from frozen one- just to take it up a notch. Chai and hot drinks were delish with no complaints from the table. Cute ambiance and great locale. Would stop by again if was in the area.

Best coffee in Ballarat but service is ALWAYS chaotic. There are often 3 or 4 waitstaff hanging around the counter looking stressed but not doing anything in particular and we often don't get acknowledged when we walk in the door despite being regular every weekend. Sometimes waitstaff blatantly ignore you even after you have made eye contact with them. I have just taken the approach of going up to the cash register to ask for a table and menus now. Food is good, never disappoints and of course the coffee is delicious and is what keeps us coming back. This place would be really excellent if you can get your service improved.

Must re-visit .....

It was a great sign to see this place buzzing on a Saturday morning, so it was understandable to wait a while for our 5 take away coffee.

Not too sure about their food, however based on the coffee alone, it is above average, but probably not the best in Ballarat.

They are using Axil coffee beans and La Marzocco, it was working hard pumping those liquid gold.

Great service, perfect location, parking can be difficult as it is on the main esplanade of Ballarat, Sturt St.
Sarahsheadspace
Great menu! Love breakfast served all day! I had poached eggs on toast with spinach, delicious. Perfect poached eggs! Very friendly and attentive staff. If back in Ballarat i will visit again.

Nice bright cafe with friendly staff and good service. Coffee is just ok. I had the corn and zucchini fritters, tasted ok but a bit greasy. Overall nothing special. Good place to sit and chat

Pretty disappointed with the service today. I ordered the Yellow omelette, but they served me scrambled eggs on toast. When I queried this, they bought out the additional ingredients which were in the omelette on a side plate. At the checkout, they charged me the full price because "I had been served all the ingredients".Ā It is fine to make an error, but to deal with it in this way is quite ridiculous to say the least.Ā Especially when the owner of the premises served me.Ā This review is intended to express both my disappointment and to emphasise that this is not a proper way of dealing with customers. Lest to say, I won't be getting a meal here again.
MrJan
Great place. All thumps up. Service was friendly and welcoming. Corn fritta was yummy, same as the yellow scrambled eggs and the avocado smash with feta. We would come back for more.
MF
The food may not look so good but actually the taste was quite good, service was fast and friendly as well.
we met one of the master chef contestant there with his family so i guess this place is quite famous in ballarat area :)
Itsflashyj
Coffee is great! Had the baked eggs they were yum, needed more spice though. The biggest let down was the bread that came with the eggs they weren't up to the the same standard as the šŸ³. Sourdough or ciabatta would have been on that 4 points. The cafe vibe is trendy like Fendi!
Eliana Negri
Great long black and piccolo latte. Also tried the smoothie with vegan protein powder, kale and coconut water. Super delicious. My only gripe is that the smoothie came with decorative shaved coconut on the edge which was stuck down with honey, and I'm vegan so if I knew I would have asked for no honey (even if I'm not eating it).
Catherine MacLean
Always an awesome vibe and super popular. The Acai Bowl was on the expensive side, but delicious. Also one of the few stockists outside Melbourne of Matcha Maiden powder which they turn into a beautiful Matcha latte. Overall, an excellent range of food and drinks.
Iamapotato
I appreciate places that brew their chai latte from scratch - I also had a bit of fun pouring it off the pot, makes me feel grown up. There's even enough milk for two cups of chai latte, so good value for money! I also noted the general warm cosy feel of the area and most importantly, you know it's a good place because the staff doesn't look like they hate being there. Also the delicious food helps. We had the yellow scrambled eggs (truffle oil, yay!), the corn fritters (I love when my vegetables are hidden and are super tasty), seafood souvlaki (it has scallops!) and blueberry pancakes (makes me feel good paying for pancakes I can't make better myself).
Laura Parker
By far the best cafe in Ballarat. I just wish they would move somewhere so that they could seat more people! It's always so busy! They have an all day breakfast menu, experiment with the crave of super foods and their staff are wonderful. Their smoked salmon is the BEST that I have tasted in any cafe and my husband loves the way that they cook the bacon. You are able to book tables during the week but it's first in best dressed on the weekend. Just wish their high chairs had trays.
Alicia Heath
Best coffee in Ballarat. I had breakfast there and will be back. Portion sizes ample, yet doesn't leave you needing a nap afterwards!

Service is wonderful - staff are friendly and welcoming.

Did I mention the coffee? Awesome.
Jimmy Chew Food
Decent spot. breakfasts are good, souvlakis are pretty great, and they have an impressive menu of health smoothies. I hear the coffee is also good stuff.
Mmmfoood
Tried it out as I love eating brekky out .. Was great but would have preferred the option of Turkish bread. Was great and not too busy. Staff took a little while to serve but where nice.
Joe Tyrrell
Mediocre food and coffee. Went there over the weekend for breakfast. Coffee (long black) tasted burnt. Tried their spicy eggs with the spicy chorizo. Chorizo came on the side, wasn't cooked in, the beans overpowered the dish and egg came out rubbery. Wifes avocado smash was ok though feta cheese was overpowered.

Don't plan on going back
Elise Paterson
Loved the place, staff are very friendly, the atmosphere is great, and the food is good quality. I had a chicken burger sandwich and orange juice - they even freshly squeezed the orange juice! My friend had a chai which was really authentic. They just need a bigger place to allow more customers in!
Emma K
Looks good, but run by amateurs!
Laura
Myo Breakfast. Best smoked salmon I have EVER tasted.
Lachlan.haslam123
Must visit!. I had the fruit toast, much to my delight, it was cut thick, clearly handmade, filled with fruit, three pieces didn't pay a lot at all! I went in with my family, there was 5 of us, and we all had coffees, they were all perfect, except one came out fairly later after the others did, this did not detract from the brilliant staff or brilliant vibe of the cafe with a brilliant product! Heavily recommend! Will be going every time I go to Ballarat!
Chloe O'shea
Lovely Coffee, Lovely Staff. Had breakfast here recently, the staff were more than happy to make alterations to the meal to suit my dietary preferences.
The cafƩ itself is bright and inviting, Ballarat has needed a place like this for a long time.
Cameron.nadine
In time I think it will just get better and better. I really do enjoy going to this cafe. It has a real urban Melbourne local feel to it which I think Ballarat needs. It is warm and inviting on arrival, and the staff are genuinely happy to serve you. I do however think this cafe are still trying to figure where they fit, especially in terms of the direction of their food. On one hand, they have some beautiful & interesting organic healthy food choices, but this isn't followed throughout the cafe. An example of this is organic cacao powder on display, alongside processed crap bottles of milkshake toppings in full view.
Mon
When did Ballarat become more expensive than Melbourne for coffee!. Walked in for a takeaway coffee and was smiled at by 1 waitress but she walked right past me then ignored by the other 2 staff. Then one of the girls started to serve the guy who walked in 30 seconds behind me. Then when I did order my small takeaway mocha was told it was $4.50 - are you kidding me! Thats nutso. Coffee in Ballarat is rarely under $4 now. C'mon Ballarat - stop pissing me off!
Jessy
Great coffee and souvlakis! Had the euro souvlaki and was either best or second best in Ballarat. Modern chic cafe without trying too hard - really enjoyed it.
Frenchtoast
My pumpkin focaccia was delicious. I was excited to try the coffee after great reviews, but was very disappointed... It was burnt and bitter. I also tried a strawberry & vanilla cupcake which was as hard as a rock, grainy and sweet and raw batter in the middle. I would go back for lunch... But I will be steering clear of coffee and cake.
JAonTour
Fantastic place to get coffee - perhaps the best in Ballarat. The food is adequate but nothing special.
Andrew Battistella
Coffee. The coffee was a lovely smooth finished pour. The milk stretched to perfection and the short machiato that accompanied a little later was rich and not bitter. Great cafe. Great coffee.
Gerard Evans
Service is equally as important as the food.. In the cutthroat hospitality industry, good food is only part of the dining experience. Courtesy and attention to your customers is equally as important.
Upon arriving at Yellow Espresso and placing it order, we were informed that there was a slight delay in orders. Ok, I get that it's busy on weekends (even though on this occasion when we arrived, the place was about half full). I appreciated the courtesy and honesty. However, after waiting over 30 minutes and seeing other customers order and receive their orders before us, I began to sense something had gone astray with our order.
Upon inquiring, confusion seemed to reign before they admitted the order lost.
Really?! Lift your game folks and pay attention to your customers before you have none left.
DianaW
Diana. Attentive staff, bright decor, food looked OK only had coffee though. Coffee was a little weak, but well poured & presented plus very creamy & smooth
Hmcervale
Lunch. Firstly , cafe looked inviting for lunch, coffee quite good and was pleased with the quality. However, had to wait arather long time for a simple lunch order that I would have enjoyed more together with my coffee! The BLT was not up to good standard of what was initially expected as the cheese used was of " plastic " quality in taste and texture. Very disappointed! Not bothering in going back to try again as it it not good value for money.
Anthony
Staff were nice and helpful. Coffee was adequate. But the food however. Poached eggs were overcooked to the point of being hard boiled , toast was soggy and all the food was not seasoned. Delicious orange juice.

Yellow Depresso. Went to Yellow Espresso with two others today after hearing amazing reviews. We sat outside and ordered our breakfast at 9.30am, immediately after the table next to us. Waited for our meals for just over an hour, asked waitress for a timeframe, she said she would ask and never came out. In the meantime the customers next to us recieved their meals. Then we went inside and asked AGAIN long our food would take, to which they replied, "five minutes." Over fifteen minutes later we went inside a second time and they said another five minutes. We weren't prepared to wait any longer and decided to leave. Terrible customer service and with no explanation.
We then went to Golden City Hotel where we ordered and were served within half an hour, with exceptional customer service.

Best Souvlaki's out. The staff know my face and what I order here (and as someone who goes 1-2 times a month, that's impressive) but they have the best souvlaki's I've ever had.
I haven't had the chance to try their coffees, but dayum, dem souva's.
LizzieB
Good coffee and great to see them using our local Inglenook milk. Friendly staff.
Georgie Haberdash'ry
Slow slow slow. Never gave I waited so long for a takeaway coffee. People seated after I arrived had coffees brought out to them. Coffee overpriced and mediocre at best. Next time I'll save myself the time and money and go to the supermarket for some instant coffee and milk.
FussyEater
Disappointed. We drove to Ballarat for the day with the children and based on the reviews opted to have lunch at Yellow Espresso. Way to greasy for my liking - the oil that the chips are fried in tasted reused too often. My boys are young and no children's menu was available - so they ordered chicken parmas that were extremely disappointing. Giant sized chicken breast slapped onto what looked like a hundred chips so that the chips went soggy immediately and it all ended up one big batch of mush. Very unappealling. The waitress should have suggested sharing one serve for both children as each boy left more than half - total waste of food which is one of my big hates. My steak sandwich would have been passable if the fat had been bothered to have been trimmed off prior to serving, but it also hung over the miniature sized slice of bread. This lead to the contents of the sandwich ending up in the palm of my hand. Hubby said that for $19 - the scrambled eggs mushrooms and spinach were the most ordinary he had ever been served. Total bill for 3 hot drinks and the above just under $100 for something that was totally unappealing.

Service is painfully slow. Food is pretty good though, however it shouldn't take 45 minutes to bring out poached eggs and cold toast.
Ben
Having moved from Melbourne, I'm really happy this placed has opened. Friendly staff and great coffee.
Foodiefamily
Great new addition to Ballarat. Had lunch from the all day brekkie menu. Food was really good, a step up for Ballarat. Loved the Yellow Scrambled Eggs. Great decor. Lots of hipster touches like mason jars, paper straws etc. but it's not pretentious. Really good vibe, and the service was excellent. Will definitely come again!

Best Coffee. I had the pleasure of having brunch last Sunday at Yellow Espresso. After the long drive from Melbourne I was well and truly due for a coffee. The friendly coffee maker made best coffee I had. It was smooth in taster and perfect temperature. My husband had a Euro Souv which I had a bite of and he said it was the best Souv he has ever had. I also had the baked eggs with spicy beans, that was smashing! Loved the decore, friendly staff and great food, could not fault it.

Getting there but not quite.... We had lunch at YE yesterday, the food was ok though prices a bit questionable.. Happy to pay more for something special but $12 for eggs on toast when it's $8 most other places.. Hmm.

Coffee was ok, not quite sure what the hype is about. We sent back my wife's soy latte as it was 1/3 heaped oily froth and the rest coffee.

Good aesthetics and i see great potential, good luck to them!

Awesome new cafe in the heart of town. This place has such a great feel, with a beautiful fit out, Axil coffee and an all day breakfast menu, it's a new fave!! Pram friendly and with high chairs, it's a great spot to meet friends for lunch.

Best coffee in Ballarat. Absolutely love the coffee at Yellow Espresso, coming down from Melbourne regularly it's the only place I'll go. Brought my partner in today for breakfast and it was perfect. Love the decor and friendly staff keep it up!

Worst latte, if that's what you call it, I've had in long time. Don't be fooled by the La Marzocco at the front.

Truffle oil scrambled eggs. Had brunch here with a friend. She very much so enjoyed her panini. I ordered the yellow scrambled eggs. The chef was perhaps a little too heavy handed with the truffle oil but generally quite pleasant. Lovely coffee, but average table service.
