Review The Turret Cafe And Catering - Ballarat

Nice spot on the Sturt St, Ballarat not far from the hospital. Lots of images of old Ballarat buildings on the way. Coffee was fairly nice, however, I felt the burger wasn't as nice as I have had here previously but was okay.

A very popular spot for coffee, lunch and sweet treats. Enjoyed the Ruben and pulled brisket sandwich, both of which were delicious and very generously filled, pictured as a gluten free option. A side of tasty chips to round out the meal. Coffee was lovely and there was wife selection of sweet treats to eat in or take away. Well worth the visit!

Came for lunch. Lovely old building. Big mistake. A bold business plan to charge so much for so little. Perhaps not counting on return custom? Maybe coffee and cake keeps this place going. The star is for the fireplace.

What a great café. We’re new to the area and it was a really delicious find! I had the chicken burger and it was amazing while the wifey ordered beef rendang and inhaled it. There were two toasties on the table and the reviews were equally positive there too. The place was pretty busy on a Saturday lunch and it’s easy to see why. We’ll definitely be back.

We went here today and ordered the Butter Chicken, the Lamb Souvlaki, a coffee and a Lemon Lime Bitters which came to over $66.00! The Lemon Lime & Bitters was $8.00 alone! Geez, clearly I’ve not had one of these drinks in a while given the cost, but at least it was a nice to drink. However I can’t say the same for the Butter Chicken. It looked like a $5.00 microwave meal and it didn’t taste much better either. If the waitress asked me how the meal was, I’d have told her my honest opinion, but felt she was maybe too busy to ask (or maybe didn’t care) so I kept my mouth shut and walked away a little disappointed. Suffice to say, I won’t rush back there anytime soon. The only thing I did notice was in the window they had a sign saying they needed a new chef, but what’s odd about that is when I read some of the bad reviews about their food including one from 9 months ago it suggests to me they didn’t have a good chef then either. Anyways, that’s my thoughts on this cafe. Thanks

Friendly service, fair price, food was nice but a little too simple and limited selection compared to other good cafes nearby. The outdoor tables looked great for warmer weather☀️ 3.5 stars

It was a lovely public holiday. I didn't have a plan to stop by this cafe. I didn't disappoint after all. My cappuccino was top notch. Macadamia tart was accompanied with lovely fresh cream and chocolate garnish. Now I wouldn't be surprised that why the Turret Cafe has been popular. During corona virus pandemic, it's not easy to keep the business going well but this cafe is doing great. I will be back more often.

*New owners* these guys are absolutely fantastic and the food quality is spot on and the service prompt even in the busiest of times. You have to try the Rueben with Pickle added.
