Review Pipers By The Lake - Ballarat

Warm and cosy cafe in the middle of the beautiful botanical gardens. A lovely refuge from the cold weather. Friendly service all round and great presentation of hot drinks. Coffee was a little burnt though maybe we just got unlucky.

I really enjoyed my lunch at Piper's. I chose the Barramundi, Greek Salad, and chips Which cost nearly $30, and I wasn't disappointed The service was quick and friendly, and not to mention the food was tasty. The Cafe itself is beautifully positioned next to the western side of the lake, giving the option to eat either outside or inside.

Have been meaning to go here for quite sometime now. Food was amazing, couldn’t indulge in conversation. Ahaha. View was great and staff were nice. Would be coming back soon.

We had a nice lunch and the picture is my cup of hot chocolate. Friendly staff and reasonable price.

Food ok except toasted sandwiches were hardly brown. Nice wedges. Don't have cream for the iced coffee. No dessert menu but well presented cake cupboard. Very noisy.

Very busy today quite long wait for coffee so while standing waiting noticed one staff member rushing back and forth picking at her face, and chewing gum with her mouth open and wiping her nose on her sleeve then handling everyone’s cups of coffee and spoons. Obviously a good little worker but some hygiene issues me thinks. Awesome scones!

How very disappointing to eat here on October the 14th. The 'Trio of Dips' which I used to thoroughly enjoy eating with two or three friends has now been reduced to barely feeding one. Gone is the bowlful of the warm crusty Cobb slices and toasted flatbread, in its place are six or seven small slices of cold and dry Turkish bread. Next to them were three tablespoon sized blobs of very average dips all bleeding into each other served on a slab of wood no less. The 'Spring Rolls' contained pulled pork so dry, we were gagging on the meat and priced at $19.90, the most expensive spring rolls ever. So after paying nearly $50, I could've gone to Coles for that half that amount, purchased a crusty baguette and some Swan brand dips and no doubt enjoyed it a lot more. Feel free to change your menu but don't reduce the portions, customers will notice.

We stopped in on Sunday 11th of Feb for a coffee and a bite to eat. The staff were very friendly and polite and apologized for the wait even though I didn't think we waited too long at all. The cafe was very busy and the girls were flat out and doing their best. My Chai Latte was perfect and our scones were delicious. This cafe is in a perfect location and we will certainly visit again. The only downer were rude and impatient customers.

We wondered in not knowing what to expect. We were pleasantly surprised the staff were very friendly the service was great. We ordered the grazing plate and it was really good. We only wanted a snack but this was so delicious the pâté was so good. I would recommend this restaurant

We enjoyed a lovely lunch at Pipers by the Lake. We chose to sit inside with a lovely view of the lake. The staff were very courteous and friendly and service was excellent which made for a very pleasant meal which we couldn't fault. The salmon risotto was superb and the chicken parmy was cooked to perfection. Would certainly dine there again if in the area.

Unfortunately, there isn’t a star lower than one. Waited forty minutes for Reconstituted orange juice($3.50) and packet granola ($15.50) with one table spoon of açai and coconut, dry, inedible and over priced. Won’t be back.

The service was slow. Coffee was good food was below average scrambled eggs a tiny serve dry and tasteless. Bacon over cooked and toast was so dry and hard it was like it was cooked with ast weeks bread. Very disappointed that a well known restaurant thinks that presenting customers with food that is badly presented and horribly cooked is OK. Please get the cooks to lift there game.

Want to say a huge thank you to Adele and all the staff for a great night last Saturday! Couldn't have had a better 30th any other way - food was great, atmosphere was beautiful and the themed cocktails were a lovely surprise xx magnificent night had by all thank you so much

Inattentive staff. Food not great. Dry muffin with no taste. $14.90 for Arancini balls served with tiny unfresh salad - poor value. Only thing going for place is location

Went the Pipers by the Lake on a very busy day. The staff were friendly and attentive and were very professional. My friend ordered the Steak Sandwich and I had the Aranchini Balls. The steak was apparently cooked to perfection, seared on the outside and pink in the middle, my meal was very enjoyable and we agreed that we would definitely be back. Happy to recommend this restaurant.

Went to Pipers today morning. placed breakfast and lunch order at 11:30. we were informed that we will receive our lunch order after 12:00 and we were ok with that. Breakfast received after 10 min of ordering and we followed up with the staff at 12:15 for our Lunch order. She said she will find out whats happening. At 12:30 we walked off as there was no response or update from staff. we went to counter to pay for our half meal and the same staff still with no update processed the payment and didnt even bother to say anything to us. My husband had his breakfast by I am vegetarian and the lunch was for myself had to return without lunch The bigger problem here was careless staff who does not even bother to follow up despite reminding about our order

Setting absolutely beautiful but when visited at 11.40am told could not have lunch menu until 12.00 - so opted for coffee and cake but very limited cakes only 1 variety of muffin and a few large cakes. Disappointing.

Lovely place for coffee or a meal. With a background of the gardens and lake. Not to noisy for conversation even when lots of people there

Defiantly a disappointment we spent almost $80 here, we got 2x big breakys they were cold with not even a slight bit of warmth our potched eggs were hard when they're suppose to be running there was a gross blob of who knows what on top the bread was as stale! They only good thing was that they cater for animals immensely.

My husband and I had breakfast here for the first time yesterday. He had bacon and eggs and he said they were excellent, it was what he expected. I had sour dough toast and it was yummy, with heaps of Jam and also Vegemite. The cappuccinos were excellent and the service was great. Lovely place to eat overlooking Lake Wendouree.

Great service and great steak sandwich and lamb souvlaki. Thoroughly recommend

I love this cafe. The food is exceptional and fresh. The setting outdoors is beautiful over looking the lake on such a loverly sunny day. Our waitress was delightful.
