Review The Pancake Kitchen - Ballarat

Really yummy. I had Bolognese crepes with salad. An excellent meal and very filling. Cafe' is also very well laid out, nice cosy atmosphere and the staff were very friendly

The pancakes were scrumptious. Better than the pancake parlour chains found in Melbourne. Place was very busy when everywhere else was quiet...

This was a bit of a disappointing experience. After arriving and ordering drinks we had to wait another hour before we got our meals. When we ordered and asked our eggs to be sunny side up, we had to explain that as the waiter wouldn't understand. There was waitress who brought our first dish and when we asked her what it was she just dumped the dish, made a face, mumbled something and walked off. We were not given cutlery and had to ask for this as well. Overall the food was OK, specially the Rhubarb and Raspberry pancakes. The service was awful.

Great to have pancakes as a treat when travelling. Best thing is, this place is always open and they have plenty of seating indoors, in fact 3 levels of seating! The menu is large and they serve other foods not just pancakes. We had the lemon & sugar pancake served with two wedges of lemon & ice cream, the crunchy salted caramel- so nutty, & the Alice in wonderland. All sweet pancakes in single serve. The potato and cheese pancake was good with the airy and soft pancake and the melted cheese that was crispy. No complaints about the food. Service was a bit inconsistent, staff member were not assigned sections so any staff member served us, our food wasn’t served to us at the same time and we had to ask for water several times.

Beautiful place. The best thing is it is managed and catered by a team of fantastic ladies 💪. The potato wedges were so well made, and perfect crunch. The coffee was fantastic too.

The staff are very friendly. The venue is very nice and cozy, especially when it’s a cold winters day. The food is so yummy and they offer breakfast, savoury foods and desserts. I felt very comfortable. The food was delicious and very filling. Definitely coming back here again and again. Thank you for the lovely food and experience.

Amazing vegan pancakes. Tried the blueberry and choconana ones. Love love love.

The staff smile and are very helpful. The medium sized cappucino and mocha costed me $14 (Easter Saturday surcharge). Enjoyed the drink but it is the most I have ever paid for takeaway coffees.

We wanted something sweet and decided to check out the pancake kitchen in Ballarat. The service was ok, no energy from the staff. The pancakes were tasty however the nuts were stale and tasted bitter which ruined the overall dish.

I thought the Pancake Kitchen located in Ballarat looked very close in design to the traditional pancake parlour, with corporate logo, etc and on asking apparently that are linked to the Parlour but not the parlour and it is a Ballarat 'thing'.

But in a older type building over three levels when the outside lunch time climate was hovering 3c it was warm inside and not overly busy at 1.30pm.

Staff were friendly with us receiving the Trainee, who took order efficiently and effectively.

My partner went for the breakfast which she reported went down well.
I took the chicken schnitzel and butter wheat pancake which for me as non pancake loving person thought had a reasonably good blend.
Coming with a side of ships that were more like edges but softer was a nice approach.

Overall, a positive dining experience and yes from us. We would go back.

Love the pancake kitchen, especially that they have student and lunch specials. I got the Savory pancake with ham and pineapple. It was really good and filling. I was so full by the end. The workers are mostly all really nice so that's good. Back in high school a group of us girls would have a dinner date here on Valentine's Day any year we were single haha !

This is the place where my partner and I went out on our first date and it's been my favourite restaurant since! Really good quality food! 👌🏽

The bulbs they use give lighting not unlike a bathroom. Service is straightforward and the atmosphere a little empty. The usual Pancake Parlour offerings at the usual high prices.

Looking for somewhere a bit different to eat brunch and ended up here. As we were short on time we checked with the waitress that our order would come promptly. The dining area was quite cosy and we appreciated that they'd lit the fire as it was a cold morning. We took the potato pancake lunch special which included a drink. The pancake was lovely and had melted cheese on top which, in my opinion, was slightly over cooked. The salad was crisp and fresh, a tad too much dressing but that is personal taste. The latte was good enough and the service was brisk. Overall a pleasant dining experience.

We thought that we would take the kids out in Ballarat tonight and the pankcake kitchen came into our thoughts. The kids ordered the fish and chips and ended up eating the pancake and leaving the potatoes and hake. Anything that was baked in oil tasted like old fishy oil and it went right through the meal. The Mexican crepes that we ordered were cold, unspicy and flavourless. We then gave the IT a go. This is where we should've started and finished. The dessert was delightful and tasty. A little more on the sauce side would've been good but other than that it was delicious. In the end we spent $200 when it could've gone to better use elsewhere and just dropped in for a dessert we know for next time.

Average service but their pancakes is so good. I love how its so moist and fluffy. I went there couple times and always order potato pancake omg i just couldn't had enough of it.

They have so many choices of pancakes either sweet or savory to choose from.

The pancake kitchen is probably my favourite place to have breakfast in Ballarat. The customer service is average but the staff are friendly. Some of the tables were a bit sticky. There were lots of things to choose from in the menu. Their pancakes are very nice but I would only go there for the pancakes. Overall I would go there again but I would reconsider what I have.

Oh dear. I used to love the Pancake Kitchen franchise, but today's breakfast was deeply disappointing.

My eggs were so undercooked the yolks were still cold, the ham was the kind I'd expect from the cheap section of the supermarket. The mushrooms tasted delicious, although they were cut so small they were close cousins to a duxelles.

Hubby's scrambled eggs were dry and overcooked, and he reported rubbery bacon.

Our pancakes were fine, and I'm especially impressed by a particularly fine bit of customer service from one lass who went above and beyond the call of duty.

I honestly would have been okay with a substandard meal, but the bill for two people was $70. For that, I expect a far better quality eating experience.

Perhaps I should have stuck with the classic short stack.

Come here for coffee all the time... Especially for their after hours coffee... They are open till 10! Have to go a bit earlier because they clean the coffee machine half hour before close... Also enjoy the deluxe cottage fries...

Coffee here is horrible ... Pancakes were good but not what I was expecting. Crepes were dry and filling was minimal... Service could do with a brush up and maybe some heating in the place.

Worst place in the Southern Hemisphere. Prices are ridiculous, meal took a long time to arrive and arrived without side dishes.

They're just pancakes at the end of the day...

Lunch deal. Tried the $15 weekday lunch special, the place seems OK with locals as it was reasonably busy, however, the quality of the choices were not that great, and we remained hungry at the end. Wide selection, true, probably the competition is not big in this area. For the price you get a much better meal in Melbourne where eateries are struggling for attention with even cheaper, great lunchtime deals. Service was good, the tip was well deserved.

Great desserts, central location. Great pancakes, fluffy and fresh. Had the Devonshire tea which was a generous serving, came with fresh cream and jam, both of which were great. Also had the Chai latte, which was done perfectly and unlike most other places was freshly made and therefore not choked full of syrups and sugar. Service was prompt and friendly and the interior and ambience was lovely. The only negative would be the high prices, but the servings are big so come hungry. Good experience overall.
