Review Java Lounge - Ballarat

I found the service to be friendly, helpful and timely. Good menu selections at reasonable prices. I couldn't give 5 stars because what I was served was not a genuine Greek salad.

Really friendly staff and great coffee. Have had food from here a couple of times and it was good but mainly go for coffee as it is central and close to my work. Unfortunately sometimes they are closed without notice, would be good if they were a bit more consistent.

It took them 10 minutes after I placed my order to tell me it wasn't actually available. My partner's meal was also messed up as she asked for no meat, but received it with meat anyway. They did make the meal again, but it overall took way too long and the place wasn't even that busy. The food was very average when it actually did arrive, and honestly didn't deliver on expectation of description. The place had no music and was pretty dark, so kind of a weird and uninteresting atmosphere. Left feeling pretty dissappointed honestly. The only good thing about going here was the coffee, but wouldn't bother coming back again.

My partner and I visited Java lounge this morning before our movie date hoping for a lovely cafe breakfast, unfortunately our experience here was rather disappointing. Upon entry we were not acknowledged and found our own menus, table was quite sticky. Slice display did not look inviting or fresh, was dark and unlit so I didn’t order one. We got two varied egg and bacon breakfasts with a hot chocolate and milkshake, the drinks were nice, however my partner especially was unimpressed with his plate. The bacon he received was black and charred, the taste of the black bits seemed to have come off the grill and took over the flavour of the entire meal and was inedible, toast was un buttered and looked to be grilled on the same black grill plate as the bacon, was just an all round awful plate, we sent it back. My bacon and toast were similar and my meal was also missing items. I would not return here.

Just did a quick take away of some breakfast and a coffee here. Service was pretty quick and friendly. Coffee, toasty, and muffin all hit the spot. Not exceptional, but I would be happy to return to try more from the menu.

Love this place! Food and coffee are consistently great. Today i grabbed the Java Burger (which is filed with slow cooked espresso and bourbon brisket) and I'm sire I'll be back to have it again and again! Damn tasty! Staff are friendly and its a clean relaxed environment.

The quality of the food and service has deteriorated from the time this cafe acquired it's 4 star status. The waitresses that served us seemed a little disoriented and we had a number of miscommunications. The food was brought out at different times. The hot chocolate ordered for a toddler was scolding hot. The salads were well presented however the ingredients were stale with dry lemon slices and dry cabbage as an example. The cakes looked stale. Food hygiene does not appear to be a priority for one of the waitresses who used her bare hands to sprinkle cheese over a plate after handling cash. The amenities were clean but the path there was littered with boxes. The men's room did not have any soap. Suspect an ownership/management change with the new owner seeking to maximize profit at the cost of the customer.

They have zero idea. 2.5hours of waiting and they send out one bit of toast and a coffee not one of the 4 of us even ordered that. Refused to refund the 80$ order. Absolutely avoid!

After a long drive and trying 4 other places which falsely advertised all day meals to get a proper meal (not a snack) at approx 2:30pm we discovered the java lounge where the staff were more than happy to serve us from the lunch or dinner menu. The meal, venue and staff were fantastic.

Highly recommend the java lounge cafe. Met two of the friendliest staff today. The cafe has a welcoming atmosphere which is exactly what you want when you go out somewhere. The hubby and I came in today for a late snack and we loved our toasted sandwich and the coffee was also fantastic. Thank you so much we will be back :)

Positive and negative experience here. Arrived at 1:15 and wanted to order off the breakfast menu but was told that it had finished at 12. Ended up ordering calamari which was good, I must admit. However whilst waiting for my meal I watched a smashed avo, pancakes and a big breakfast come out to the only other table that had people on it. Not impressed at all.

Fabulous place to meet up with friends and grab a bite to eat! Great atmosphere with very obliging staff. Food is to die for - especially the freshly made desserts! My first visit was for a Hens Night to which they made the restaurant available just for us. So it is available for group bookings as well as regular visitors!

Maybe I'm spoilt living in the inner north of Melbourne and being a regular at cafes along High street in Thornbury, Northcote and Preston but I've got to say pretty disappointed here. The look of the cafe is class, it has a nice contemporary look with a warehouse type of feel. The coffee was ok, asking for a strong piccolo seemed a bit foreign, the coffee though was fine. I ordered the muesli, after waiting 20 odd mins for the muesli (cafe was quiet) I asked what the go was, staff said a mistake in the kitchen and it won't be long. Muesli was served in a glass, probably 200ml, it was honestly exactly like the gluten free muesli I buy from Coles with a slice of strawberries. I was taken a back that anyone could charge $13 or so for a glass of muesli, highway robbery. Staff where ok without being brilliant, food was awful, coffee ok. Fit out is very good, but like all cafes you don't eat the tables and chairs.
