Review Eureka Pizza - Ballarat

Mikaela James
Ordered online for my daughter’s birthday. Absolutely disappointed. The food took over 2 hours to arrive, and when it did was pretty much cold. For $25 each, I was expecting so much more. The pasta was tiny and so were the “large” pizzas. Do NOT recommend.

Fantastic! have been coming to this traditional Italian, family owned pizzeria and restaurant for years. Wonderful home style meals and the pizza’s are fantastico! We love it, the service is great and always served with a happy face.

Food is always amazing best pizza and pasta in Ballarat, staff are always genuinely lovely and John the owner is an absolute gentleman. Couldn't recommend them enough do your self a favour and grab some of the scallop potatoes, and the blood orange gellato.

We recently travelled from Cranbourne to Ballarat and were not disappointed with our dinner tonight !!! The food was beyond 5 stars. We will definitely be back on multiple occasions.

Wonderful food and great and friendly service. Never had a bad meal here and will continue to go back every chance I get.

Our go-to low-cost high-quality restaurant in Ballarat. Always a joy. Great service, perfect location, fantastic food.

The main Primavera Risotto was nice and they were able to make it vegan, however it was not worth $19.50 because the portion size was far to small and the quality was just not there. My girlfriend had a lemon meringue and that was nice for $10 but the base tasted like caster sugar and we couldn't even eat all the base because it tasted so bad.

Have been twice great staff and good menu to choose from. Would recommend.

Arrive to be hounded by staff the minute we sit at our overcrowded table, order our drinks and have to wait 30mins and counting to receive them. Not good enough. The food better be good, I suppose we'll find out when someone finally decides to take our orders.

Had a small pizza half way through found a black hair they said sorry took it away..still made me pay...disappointed

The garlic focaccia to start was delicious. The pastas & Parma arrived quickly & were very tasty. We all cleaned our plates & left feeling stuffed. Staff friendly but didn't hover. Very pleasant dining experience

Very bad customer service manager Bret was so rude and arrogant was not helpful just left
Quality! It Shouldnt Be That Hard! Love A Wonderful Mouth Full Of Wholesome FOOD!
3.5/5
Staff are polite and friendly. It was quiet busy. My friend ordered Chicken Schnitzel with mushroom gravy.

I had a rare steak with extra garlic butter. With veggies. It was really yummy!

I also ordered the Tiramisu for take away. It was ok but nothing to rave about.

I came back and also had a pasta dish that was yummy how ever it was lacking a little bit of flavour,

I also tried he lamb shanks that was to die for. The food over all is quiet nice!

We also ordered pizza for delivery and it was ok!!!

Terrible pizza, Dry, and no flavour. I have had better frozen ones. Service was good, staff polite.
Make sure that you aren't afraid to send food back, if it isn't up to standard.

Great service plus good pizza and don't miss out their pistachio ice cream (to die for) 😉😋

Can't fault this place, was exactly what I expected! Nice family orientated pizza restaurant with friendly service and a menu with something for everyone. I tried the meat lovers and the Hawaiian, both were really good

Disappointing to not be able to get any service. We waited 10 minutes for service yet people who arrived after us and dirty tables could get service but not us. They only time they showed any interest was when we got up to leave. Customers before dirty tables

Fast and great service, would have liked to have access to menu after ordered. Never been disappointed with the pizza. They also have gluten free which is great when seeing someone that has food intolerances.

Visiting from Sydney, Eureka Bistro was my first experience of Ballarat hospitality. I just say, the service was exquisite.
The owner, John, was a delightful host.
The minestrone and lasagna were great. Will be back again someday.

Mediocre is being generous. Service so bad it was almost laughable. Table for two. We were seated same time as a group of three on a not so busy Monday evening. They'd finished their mains 10 minutes before our pasta even arrived.
One waitress running flat out everywhere and some imperious dick behind the pizza counter, whom i presumed to be the owner, lording it over the place like it was Ballarat's answer to Caffe E Cucina.

So if the service didn't deflate what was supposed to be a easy night out, the food did. A main of garlic prawns fettuccini was a bland combo of prawns that had been flash fried in garlic butter and plonked into a stodgy cream sauce that lacked flavour so badly I'd swear it wasn't even seasoned. No bread, no follow up service and as soon as the cutlery was down the plate was cleared by the waitress - who was already burdened with an armload of plates from another table. Main serving and my partner's entree were the same size.

When paying at the front, a lady is patiently waiting for a takeaway pasta which then appears, so the owner, while serving us, barks at some pizza delivery driver - who was doing a great impersonation of a badly tattooed ice addict - to pass over the food. No thanks. Stay home, cook yourself. You'll feel better about it.

I don't blame the waitress - the place reeks of self importance but is wholly hallmarked by apathy and incompetence.

No service. We had been here previously and were looking forward to our meal. Only to be seated and basically forgotten about. After about 25minutes we decided to leave. Although they had a few tables they should have had more than one waitress. We weren't even offered any water. What topped it off was that people seated outside who came in after us, were served before us and by the pizza maker. Sorry guys we won't be coming back nor will I recommend you.

Very disappointed with this place. Tonight I tired it for the first time.
The service was terrible, unorganized and not very friendly.
They stuffed up my partners mean, his steak was cold and the lettuce was brown. My pasta was cold and no nice presentation.. We waited aleast 30mins between entree and mains.
When we got to the counter and told them what had happened, he took $5 off our meal!!
Crap, won't be going back!!!

Amazing food, red wine and warm fire place. What more could you ask for on a dreary cold rainy day? The awesome food and service was met with a good atmosphere, Definitely a restaurant I would return to, as well as recommend to friends.

All orders turned out beautifully. Service was fast and good despite weekend crowd. Atmosphere was lively.

Beautiful food, but rushed.. The food is sensational, ordered a spaghetti marinara, delicious. Hard to get the attention of the waitress for anything as she was serving the whole restaurant on her own and very rushed.. Once my dinner was put on the table and she thankyou, she was off, I had no chance to ask for parmesan cheese. In a nutshell, more staff required.

Consistent old fashioned pizza parlour. If you want good pizza and pasta with friendly service then this is a great starting place. Not pushing culinary boundaries but they never fail to satisfy.
Brett Greene
The only thing worse than the cold pizza was the disgusting service by the staff. They got our order wrong and when I said something I was told that it was my fault because I ordered when I walked in.

Bland food, small portions, no presentation, all that no frills stuff i can handle if there's a good hearty meal. Spag bog was tasteless pizza was soggy, not impressed at all. Not for foodies. Cheap tho.

Do not order the scallop risotto! It seemed to consist of steamed rice covered in a sauce with 2 'scallops' hidden. Very unappetizing dish, looked more like baby food, although baby food probably tastes better. Manager apologized, acknowledged how bad it looked and tasted, then proceeded to charge us for it. We will be back , NOT!

Awesome family diner. We loved it, the kids loved it, the food was fresh, tasty, and the serves were huge. We'll be coming back. The waitress and pizza chef were friendly and welcoming and everything arrived quickly. Decor was like stepping back into the 1980s in Lygon Street. Awesome.
Mark Cavanagh
Such a great place, quick service, great tasting food, huge serves and reasonably priced! Bonus.
Michelle
Don't understand why this place is so popular. The pizza is mediocre at best and the service is terrible. Staff (some not all) were rude and we almost walked out before we ordered and only stayed because kids were with us. Won't be coming back.

A kind of unsurprising disappointment. The place didn't look like much from the outside--it's a rather typical pizza/pasta place aesthetically--but it looked okay. At first, we were greeted and seated. It wasn't too busy at the time, but in spite of that, after being seated, no one attended to us. Five minutes passed menu-less, and just as one of us was about to find one of the numerous waiting staff wandering around, one passed by, apologised and gave us menus, which was fine.

The food came out rather quickly, particularly the pizzas, but they weren't of the best quality. They were floppy and a little soggy once you left the crust and worked inwards. The garlic bread was little more than grilled (just past burning point, apparently) sliced breadstick that had disconcertingly bright yellow butter on one side (and one side only) and an almost imperceptible amount of garlic on each slice.

I ordered one of the calamari dishes, and while it looked nice, it tasted of little more than pepper and oil. I didn't mind at the time, but they did forget to bring out the side salad for it, too.

One of us ordered the Aussie pizza. I've seen some sad-looking Aussie pizzas in my time, but this was one I dearly wanted to put out of its misery.

Perhaps we went on a bad night, but I've been to this kind of place before, and improvements between nights are often a bit much to hope for. The worst part is I've spent less and gotten so much better so many other places.

The service was friendly but very slow
We waited 25 minutes for the entree and nearly one hour for the main
I ordered a simple steak and chips and salad
When delivered the steak was fatty and was not the cut of meat I ordered. The chips were cold, the salad was three pieces of capsicum, soggy lettuce and two olives.

In conclusion, over priced, slow and sub-standard. 4/10

Waddye expect?. Been comin here on and off for over 30 years. Not much has changed - it is a middle of the road performer representing pretty fair value for money - BYO as well as licensed!!. Pizzas are always good, never really tried much else but considering it is now 2 shopfronts and always near capacity each time we come, the rest of the menu has got to be trustworthy. Been there a long time and will still be there for a long time.

The chefs there are the business, these yguys cook harder then anyone I've seen a real credit to their work ethic and are the crown jewels of ballarats hospitality scene bravo you guys keep up the great work

Best pizza in Ballarat. Appropriate pricing and just like a local pizza place I Melbourne. Their meals are not Lygon st material, but just like your local pizza place in the suburbs of Melbourne

I offten call in late and its never a hassel to get a pizza. Great taste and always served with a smile
Dr Mick Mach
Classic cheap pizza joint, nothing too fancy but decent thin style pizza for a decent price. BYO wine to top it off. Good stuff
Lynne
Fantastic food!!! Been coming here for yrs!!! Delish!!!

Just one of those places you can take the family for a decent, not overly expensive, convenient meal. It is what it is, and that's simple and honest.
Ash Hughes
Simple food done well. Great service.

They have great pizza original style like you find in Lygon Street but better. Try the Eureka special it is my favorite pizza of all time.
Sara King
Expensive and bland. Even the most basic, margarita required salting & the addition of basil from our own fridge. I expect more for the price paid.
Family Of Five
Happy. The staff were great. They and the manager took great care to ensure we all had a good dining experience.
