Had the 60 dollar banquet meal, and had a variety of dishes. The staff were nice and attentive. The highlight would have been betel leave trout, barramundi fillet and the ice cream.
Very delicious food. So many delicious sounding entrees we just didn't know what to order. End up deciding on 3 entrees including San choy bow, prawn rice paper rolls and braised crispy pork belly and green papaya salad. Main we had prawns with soy and oyster which has yummy mushrooms and asparagus in it.
We also ordered another entree that wasn't to our liking or texture. Was simply wrong so we mentioned this to the waitstaff who took it off the bill and understood where we were coming from. This was dealt with professionally. Service was attentive and friendly ambience awesome. Look forward to coming back and trying their salt and pepper squid and more. ✌️
Delicious !!! Every dish was beautiful! amazing flavors and just yum. Loved the calamari and the papaya salad - so good ! Can't wait to go back
Yup can certainly see where the high ratings come from. Great and unique but authentic Thai flavours... Fresh food and fast service. Waiting staff could be bit more polite and pleasant, however they were very helpful and took care of my wife's dietary requests.

The betel leaves with salmon were so tasty. I love the texture and vegetal freshness. So too the wagyu spring rolls.
Salt n Pepper calamari the highlight. Outstanding. The beef ribs also delish. Szechuan scallops were perfectly seared, moist and tasty. The pad Thai chicken is particularly tasty.
The wine list is functional albeit minimalist. Thankfully there's a Vintage Cellars right next door.
Lucky to have this as our local.

Upmarket Asian restaurant on darling street balmain. The prices here are a little higher then others at $30 for most mains but the servings are decent and the flavors delicious. Go with the blue ginger favourites on the menu and you can't go too wrong. The decor is gorgeous and there is a large share table in the centre that works well for bigger groups. Byo (wine only) but that's always a plus in my book so walk through the huge temple doors and enjoy some of the best Asian cuisine in the inner west!!
Blue Ginger for me brings back memories of first Thai food experiences in my early twenties. Blue Ginger was one of the early Thai restaurants in Sydney ( I think Thai Pothong would be another long term one..) and it has remained amazingly good! We visit a couple times a year and always go for the spring rolls - I don't think anyone else makes them as good - and then any curry or stir fry is a winner. Love it here
My favourite restaurant, we always go there on special occasions. i'm never disappointed with blue ginger, they are so kind and the food comes so quickly and is just so delicious. i defenitly recommend going here its incredible.
I came here on a date and to my surprise, the food was amazing and fresh! A tad on the pricey side but well worship for what you get. Good quality Chinese food, a rather modern twist to the run of the mill Chinese!
I have very fond memories of this place going on dinner dates here love the layout and setting of this place it has a very romantic atmosphere. I would definitely recommend the massaman curry with Angus beef, which is so succulent and one of the best massaman curry I have ever tasted! Also can't go past the crispy chicken and pork belly and salt and pepper squid with rice. The staff are very attentive and food is served quite promptly, would highly recommend!
Love this place. Food is fresh and tasty, the staff are welcoming and . Definitely try the pork belly papaya salad. I'd highly recommend this place.
For entree we ordered wagyu beef spring rolls, soft shell crab and pork belly and papaya salad. With the exception of the spring rolls (they were a weird combination of curry puff and spring roll) the other two dishes were delicious. For mains we ordered crispy braised pork belly with eggplant and beans, the special stir fried beef fillets with veges and slow braised beef short ribs with chilli tamarind sauce. The table was divided on the eggplant pork belly, but the other two dishes were great. Definitely get the beef short ribs if you go here, they are a special for a reason. Reasons to go back: So many great dishes to try, the banquet to sample, the beef ribs to have again. Reasons to stay away: Except for the weird spring rolls, can’t really think of any. Verdict: 4/5. Blue Ginger charged quite a premium price but it was by far the best (South East) Asian restaurant in Sydney! Even the desserts are much better than one-hat restaurant we went to. The short ribs were the highlight of the day, shockingly excluded from the Banquet menu! They were just simply beautiful
An experience not to be missed. This is one of the secret gems of Sydney. Here you will experience the blend of several Asian styles that have been crafted into a menu that will satisfy the taste of everyone who loves a good Asian meal. And, there are plenty of other offerings that will make it impossible for your guests and friends not to be satisfied. The restaurant is modern and very relaxed. If you want a quieter romantic atmosphere specify the back room and enjoy the ambience of the residential part of Balmain. The wine list is great, the food is exceptional, the staff are wonderful, and the price is very good.
I love this restaurant. Amazing menu, delicious food, beautiful atmosphere, great staff and kid friendly. Have been many times and it never disapponts. Don't forget to leave room for the pandan pancakes!
This place is ok - nothing to get too excited about. The food is good but not that much different to a good cheap eats cafe/restaurant or takeaway spot. The restaurant is lovely and the service is very good which is what you're paying for essentially.

A jewel in the 'Inner West'!. Having frequented this establishment on many occasions I have never been disappointed... love love love it!
Must order dishes include, starting with the betel leaf topped with smoked trout chilli garlic galangal and fried shallots, sang choy bao of free range chicken with baby corn water chestnuts lap chong and crispy glass noodles... for mains the 'Blue Ginger Favourites' which are flagged on the menu are all superb, with one of my favourites being the salad of fried salmon with green papaya Vietnamese mint fried garlic & cashew nuts (get your taste buds warmed up with my uploaded photos).
Back in a hurry for the curry!. Thought at first that this was going to be another typical top-quality Asian dining experience of the sort that we are getting so good at in Australia- sweet crispy pork belly and wagyu based beef entrees etc. Love it but being done commonly now. UNTIL we got to the curies. OMG- the curries and gravy-based dishes! Having had two at our table, I still found myself gazing around at other tables getting curry-envy. Fresh ingredients mottled together with top-quality meats and fishes. Will definitely be back.
Our fav!!. Without a doubt our fav Asian restaurant in Balmain and maybe in Sydney! This is our 'go to' restaurant for Friday/ Saturday nights - love love love the beef short ribs, salt and pepper squid and salmon salad! Cant go wrong here!
Always a winner!. It's not cheap here but its always really great food and lovely cocktails and wine list too.
Pork belly is a must have. I never regret heading here for a really nice experience with some great food.
Love blue ginger! Consistent, great value pan Asian food. A Balmain favourite.
HIgh End South East Asian. Dine on high end Chinese and south east Asian inspired food in an elegant space. The food really is inspired with roasted duck sang Choy bao and chilli lemongrass prawns to start the experience. Definitely try the pork belly salad, clay pot fish fillets and chilli blackbean eggplant and pumpkin. It's all good. Byo is the cherry on top so bust out a Pinot Gris and enjoy.
