A lovely little Japanese restaurant with great food and friendly service.

Great food, reasonably priced, tables outside, good service.

Freshly made sashimi with fresh fresh fresh fish. Chicken skwer was so tender and tasty. Authentic wasabi that is neither too wasabiy nor lack of a bite. Cozy environment with friendly staff. The place is run by real Japanese crew. Very good experience and definitely an attraction.

27$ for this seafood Sashimi platter, not really impressed with the value of this meal once you take away all the lettuce....

We have dinner on a Wednesday evening there when in town. A great light, fresh and good valued dinner can be had!

@Hus Hassan, been dining at Teriyaki Boy for over 20 years. Never seen a cockroach (remarkable in itself for Balmain), and never seen a man waiting the tables. you sure you had the right restaurant? Hygiene and cleanliness has never been an issue. This restaurant is actually the best kept secret in Sydney. No one does the actual food better.

Came here as a birthday dinner location and I couldn't be more happier with the experience, if only they hadn't sold Out of chicken yakitori. The food was AMAZING!! Tje tender and falvourfull meat took me on a journey completely away from reality, every bite an amazing experience. The fresh assortment of fish was so fresh, I wish I ordered two!! Super healthy, yummy and light option. Family loved the experience and I had a great birthday!

A friend of mine brought me there saying that it’s one of the best sushi places in Sydney, but honestly I didn’t find it so special, it was regular sushi to me.

I love this place and have been here many a time, it seems more authentic than other Japanese restaurants nearby. Before you start your meal they give you a little appetiser which has been different each time I come here, usually a type of pickle. My absolute favourite dish is the calamari entree, the batter is so light and zesty! I also love the spinach goma-ae it has a great flavour. My mums favourite dish is the wafu salad which has a lovely dressing and mix of salad but I personally am not a huge fan of the seaweed. The sashimi is lovely and fresh, I wish they offered smaller servings though as 20 pieces of sashimi is a bit much for two people! Other recommendations are the chicken teriyaki, it has good quality meat with a nice teriyaki sauce and salad alongside it. The salmon carpaccio entree was not as good as the other dishes as I felt the dressing overpowered the flavour of the salmon a little. For dessert I enjoy the black sesame ice cream more than the green tea ice cream, it has a stronger flavour. All in all this restaurant is very quaint and you must try it!

Food is beyond expectation. Very very delicious! Besides the sushi platter is not so special compared to other sushi place. But all the entree dishes and dessert are amazing! Highly recommend all the dishes in the photos below: kingfish carpaccio, tempura mushroom with whiting, grilled eggplant with sweet miso paste and the dessert-- red bean spring rolls. Will come back just for those dishes!

Great company and such amazing fresh Japanese....byo which is even better..however downfall if you don't bring enough byo they don't sell alcohol you would have to go to the bottle..o to get more...but food and price can't beat it ☺
Does My Bomb Look Big In This
Teriyaki Boy was a bit of a win for me, so much so I have already been back. Thus this review is the amalgamation of two visits. It's a nice, low-key local for those, like myself, who live in the Balmain area. What I like about this restaurant is that it

Sushi Perfection!. This is a firm favorite. Alongside Ainoya in Kirribilli it is the best sushi and sashimi in Sydney. However the service is far better, mostly thanks to Miko the head waitress who is such a lovely person you can't fail to be looked after well. I'll be honest, I gave been going here for years but every time I go I get a warm feeling inside and never get bored of the menu because it's all just fantastic. It's not the trendiest sushi joint in Sydney, in fact you may even say the decor is a little dated but when the food is this good, who cares! If you are in the Balmain area and you like Japanese food you simply MUST go here.

Our Favourite Japanese Restaurant In Sydney. A small, intimate, friendly restaurant with great food, helpful staff and reasonable prices. We would recommend the dinner box as great value at $25 and is more than enough for one person.

Best in sydney. Best Japanese in Sydney and terrific value. I don't know how they do it, but it seems to get better every time I go.

Be sure to book - the place is small and it fills up every night. Only drawback? Its so tiny, my clothes always end up smelling like the Japanese kitchen.

Love love love. Everything is so tasty and proportionally correct. One of Sydneys hidden treasures.

Great service and food is simple but amazing, love the Pork Kakuni ( pork belly), gyoza and teriyaki chicken!!

Oh boy! Really like this place - its small and cute, and the sushi is fresh and delicious. Try the eggplant - its delicious! Also the gyoza are a nice hit of crispy goodness. Price is decent, there are cheaper Japanese places in the area, but this one wins for ambience and quality!

Great food. The pork belly with sweet sauce was gorgeous and all the other entrees and mains we had were nice and filling but still felt light. Will definitely be back.

Fantastic. Worth the visit. Must book in advance. Decor nothing special but the food is great. Appoximately $80 for two people

My absolute fave Japanese restaurant in Sydney. Service is fast and friendly, food is fresh and delicious. Just make sure you book because they are always busy

Best Japanese in Balmain. You can't go past this for the best japanese fusion in the area. BYO, stunning Gyoza, to die for mudcrab (or prawn) steamed dim sim, mushroom wrapped in whiting, beef ginger, lightly battered prawn tempura, salmon misobata...the menu is small & focused, with the lovely hostess Mi Ho heading a friendly, polite & efficient team.
