Review Manjits Balmain - Balmain

Reasonable Indian food stars. I always go to Indian on a Saturday night, though this place was quiet. Recommend the madras chicken, lamb cutlets and tandori chicken.

The food was amazing. Flavours burst in my mouth and the service was great.

Had a great night here, the food was really good and the wait staff were very friendly. They allowed us to bring in non-alcoholic beer as my wife is pregnant, they were very accommodating. My son who is normally a fussy eater really loved the butter chicken. Very good meal and a nice place. We will be back.

Having recently moved to Balmain we were excited about trying Manjits - an institution in Sydney! Thankfully we were not disappointed. The staff were delightful. Nothing was too much. The food was genuinely the best Indian food (we've tried) in Sydney. Can't wait to go back. 5 stars!

We have been a regular at the Indian Palace for years, but due to the recent closure (awaiting new owners to open the doors ) we tried Manjits. Have to say it was the worst Indian food we have ever had. Watery and non descript at best. Was a total let down. I can’t say anything good about the (takeaway) food at all. Never going to even think about trying them again. Food smelt weired, tasted worse. I guess you live and learn. Had a LOT better Indian food at a kiosk within a shopping centre for a fraction of the price. #Disappointed

Went on a very good value special offer during the week. Restaurant was quiet but not empty at around 8:30pm. Seemed very busy with take-out orders so took us a minute or two to be seated but we were welcomed warmly and politely. The restaurant is stylish and modern inside with some nice touches like Indian hats you can try on. We ordered Amritsar fish and onion bhajis for starters, both nice and large portions, followed by a lamb biryani and a smoked eggplant curry which we requested spicy. The biryani was lovely, fluffy and creamy with food chunks of tender lamb. The eggplant curry was beautifully served but unfortunately was just far too spicy - I had a small drop of the sauce and couldn't take any more. My partner who ordered the dish is a bit more resilient than me but even he really struggled. Maybe we should have just left it as it was! That said, overall we left very happy and would definitely come back again. Shout out to the waiter, he was very softly spoken but extremely polite and very helpful when we asked for advice on the menu!

Lacking any sense of passion or authenticity. The restaurant's quality has really gone down hill. Staff were quiet and did not even mention exactly what foods were being served. Restaurant was fairly quiet - around 2 tables booked at 8pm. Entrees were awkwardly served almost twice. Not sure why there were tempura prawns at an Indian restaurant?! Were they out of other entrees? Main courses all tasted fairly similar. Just a lot of sauce and very little substance to the food... Naan was cold. The banquet mentioned that the desserts were a choice from a selection, although we were just served a bland indian desert with some cheap ice cream and strawberry topping. It wasn't great at all. When we questioned it, they said the policy had changed - but no updated menus? Waiters did not have general common sense to check for water top ups either - wonder what the service would be like on a busy night?? Would not recommend this place to others. Honestly we should have stayed at home! Very disappointing

We visited this restaurant this evening. Even though the food was of okay quality, I would like to highlight that there is no value for money. The quantity they serve is way too low compared to the prices they charge. Also the menu has very limited options in Entree and main. Any other good Indian restaurant in the city would cost way less than what we paid here for two people. Their customer service was okay but has lots of room for improvement. To my shock they charge a surcharge amount on credit card payments. All in all I would not visit them again until there are some improvements in their menu and food quantity.
