Review San Antonio Sourdough - Balmain

David Smith
While waiting to have my car fixed had coffee and an egg and bacon roll. The coffee was rich and smooth and not too hot! Perfect. The roll was delicious. I also bought a dark rye sourdough, haven't tried it yet but it looks good and was reasonably priced. Highly recommend this cafe/bakery.

Great spot to come pick up baked goods. Really enjoyed their baguette!

Only a two because the coffee was nice. Relatively new to Balmain so out trying a few brekkie spots. Lived in coogee and the San Antonio bakery there is unreal. I’m afraid this is not. Had a bacon and egg roll, bang average tbh. Partner ordered Bircher muesli and what arrived was brilliant. Some fruit and yogurt in a bowl, a pistachio crumb but a bread roll instead of muesli. Not sure what went on but I’m afraid we won’t be heading back. Shame

Great owner nice italian chap.We go often great baguettes and patisserie poached Eggs on baguette roll can be good, great blat, great wrap.but no consistency the cook is clearly on something and cant cook to save his life,They wanted to charge 5 dollars for a replacement of a egg roll that had hard eggs umtoasted and its the 4th time its happened.not professional in that respect going to find somewhere else in future.

Ordered the Eggs Royale... With extra hollandaise. Didn't disappoint, and I'm sure you'd agree. Love their portion sizes, all that for just $18 (included the wilted spinach and salmon. It's just $16 without the extra hollandaise)

This is one of several bakeries in my local area. It is definitely my favourite and the staff are great. The sourdough is top notch but not silly prices, with lots of different styles to choose from. We love the croissants from here too.

Don't know why this place has such a low rating... Service is very friendly and the food is quite nice... The fritters were very fresh and salsa was good. Still received it with avocado even with this sky-rocket prices!
And the smoothy was lovely and just the right size.

Had a few visits to this Bakery now and it continues to grow on me. Staff are always friendly and cheerful and the baked goods have always been solid. Lemon tart today was very good, with a tart filling and well cooked crispy pastry shell. I'm a little over the Zumbo thing so perhaps a little more investigation of the traditional baked pastries is in order and based on other reviews, give a sit down menu item a try.

Nice range of breads and sweet treats including cakes, pastries and slices. Ordered a raisin cinnamon scroll to takeaway; the pastry was very nice and it was studded throughout with plump sultanas.

This place was awful do not go. Our food not only took ages when it came out the waitress apologised she had forgot about our plates before she put it down. Not a good sign!!!

The food was cold and soggy. My husband ordered the crowded house ( big breakfast) half the items listed on the menu were missing . It was cold small and horrid tasting.

The toast was meant to be sourdough after all a sourdough bakery and it was soggy tiny bits of white bread.

Such a let down . Don't eat here

So, we've walked past this place for what must be more than a year, since it's rebirth from its previous name, Brioche. We've bought a loaf here and there, and whilst pleasant, it's nothing to write home about. Until today.

Friends at our place to watch the decimation of the Wallabies by England, and what better precursor than home made wagyu beef hamburgers on brioche buns from San Antonio. And didn't they absolutely sing. All the other ingredients were pretty pedestrian, usual suspects, but this burger hit lofty heights. Praise be to brioche buns. And they had plenty, and they were perfect. If for nothing else, make the pilgrimage. Your burger dreams will come true.

Great coffee and great food. Best Omelette I have ever had! Staff are very friendly. The sourdough bread is made fresh everyday. A hidden gem as it doesn't have the crush of people like at Bertoni's.
