The Peninsula has a glut of places to eat from a small local fish and chip shop to high end restaurant. But sometimes, what you need is a good old fashioned pub meal and that's what I was fortunate enough to have when I recently came here after work. I discovered that this place has only opened in the last 12 months or so and from the patronage, it's been well received.
I'm not a fan of the sportscasting and blaring of media when I eat but you can remove yourself from that by going to the dining area. The menu is as you'd expect at a pub - extensive. Portion sizes are great and could easily split a meal with a toddler. We had a the classic that everyone should have at a good pub and that's the Chicken Parmigiana that is nicely crumbed in panko with the usual napoli sauce, ham and cheese (and not too much cheese which is good) and some aioli. My friend had the very large service of fish and chips (fried flathead) that came with a puree of pea and some coleslaw. Large portion size and very fresh fish.
Can be a little noisy but that's what you'd expect for a place the size it is and I didn't find it distracting at all. Live music is also on some nights as well which is an attraction I may have to return for.
Staff were excellent and eager to please. Most helpful when my drink spilt and they replaced at no cost. Much appreciated.
Notes: wheelchair accessible, disabled friendly, kid friendly, reasonable parking out the front.
PS - next time I won’t scoff my food and snap some photos.

Great pub down the Mornington Peninsula
Classic pub vibes, with TVs showcasing sport, a lovely open deck & huge garden area out the back for kids to play in

Fried Chicken Bites: Crispy chicken bites with a thick salty/BBQ sauce
Margherita Pizza: Nice pizza with good amounts of cheese/sauce. Wish it was bigger for the price
Chicken Burger: A delicious chicken burger that had a crispy thyme & lemon chicken thigh, classic burger toppings & very thick cut, crispy chips

Wow amazing Parma maybe the best I’ve had in my life. The bartender / waiter ‘Brock’ was amazing very polite and fast and also I’ve never seen anyone pore such a perfect beer. He somehow managed to carry 4 plates at once I’ve never seen anything like it.
Amazing food, I had beer battered flat head tails and apple tart, great food and service in a beautiful garden setting.

After reading about a menu overhaul at The Heritage, I decided to give this place another try after a so-so experience with the food on my first try. The potato and sage gnocchi was simple yet tasty. Salmon with beans was also very tasty and zingy on the palette. The cheese platter to finish was as one would expect, but was a winner.
The atmosphere wasn't the best. A bit too much like a pub, and does not match the food quality.
I found the pricing to be a tad over the top for what I received. I will give some leeway due to the rural location.

The Heritage Tavern was a literal oasis in an otherwise culinary desert at Balnarring. The menu despite being quite limited was high in quality and very reasonably priced. We opted for the pizzas which were superb and incredibly cheap given the quality. Overall highly recommended!

Very family friendly with all the open space. Food wise I found was average price but the quality was high. I had the lamb shank. Very tasty dish. And they have the best crackling on their pork belly dish.
All good when the pressure is off. We have visited the hotel previously on a Sunday afternoon during summer when the place was packed and they seemed to be struggling under the overwhelming demand. This time we visited for a friday lunch when there was not as much pressure on the staff. We were greated warmly and the food was lovely. We had no issues with the tattooed waitress, or anybody else
Great lunch out large area plenty of tables and lovely fireplaces. The bar and meal selection was excellent. The kids had a great (gum boots are a must when it rains as there is a lot of mud) live band on Sunday at 3pm
Lovely place for a meal with friends/family! Staff were super friendly. You order at the cashier with the table number which makes splitting the bill nice and easy. All the food came out together which was great. The parma was very large and in charge but had too much crumbling which made it quite soggy. Probably something to look into to get it more crunchy. One downside is there isn’t really many vegetarian options for a friend who struggled with little options but then got the arancini balls with salad. Looks like the menu changes quite a bit so may have gotten unlucky with the timing. The garlic and cheese pizza was amazing. Recommend!
Overall alfresco experience was memorable - recent Sat. You need to show your vax cert to get in. Location is prime, loads of parking & staff were friendly & helpful. Had special of the day - scallops deep fried in batter, super fresh salad & very tasty fat chips. Serve $34 is pretty huge - consider sharing.
Glass of sparkling Foxy's Hangout $12 was good with above. Would have preferred scallops not to be deep fried but lightly tossed -my personal preference. Friend had fish & loved it too.
Great meal and drinks enjoyed in the lovely outdoor setting on the deck. Especially lovely on a warm evening, helpful and friendly staff made the dining experience enjoyable. Perfect place for catch up with family or friends
Well I was taken here for my Valentines experience … omg 😆 is all I have to say … I’m in the middle of nowhere … awesome scenery…awesome ambience… fantastic food … had the calamari salad , the salad dressing is to die for fresh crisp n Devine … the beef pot pie was sooooo delicious .. well worth the drive .

They heat it with a fire place thing which is cosy.
Tried the Pinot Noir. It’s very soft and a refreshing drink while waiting for your meal. 🍷
Got the chicken Parma. Nothing out of the ordinary for a Parma but satisfying. 🍗🍟🥗
Nice venue, good inside, outside covered and open air areas all with a relaxed atmosphere.
Food was fast, tasty and well sized, the Burger was nice and the chips crispy and fluffy. The chicken and mushroom pot pie was also a tasty meal.
If I could suggest one thing - please get Craft beer that isn't from one of the Peninsula breweries as they really are some of the blandest of all the beers, you might be surprised how many of your customers want a bigger selection.
We finally checked out The Heritage last night after moving to the area 6 months ago. Great atmosphere, perfect place for kids to play on the big grass area. There’s a separate vegetarian and vegan menu you just have to ask the staff for it. Food was delicious and huge portions so we over ordered! Also highly recommend trying their margaritas. We will definitely be back.
