Review Bar Sur Loup - Balwyn

Delicious crepes, eclairs are yummy and made in house. Friendly service from the young gentlemen and my soy latte was nice and creamy. Maybe next time I'll try the baguettes as the have a variety to choose from. Nice little courtyard outback ro get away from by tooting cars from the front.

Lovely little cafe in Balwyn, right near Marcellin for those with kids at the school. Crepes are their speciality but coffee is pretty good too. New owners seem nice. Bathroom could use some love though.

[TAKE-AWAY FOOD]<br/><br/>Stopped by quickly to Bar Sur Loup to get some crepes because my friend told me they had a special 2 for 1 deal! Wohoo! It did not disappoint, the crepes were so generous in size and it was freshly made and super tasty! Cant wait to go back and try other flavours! <br/><br/>🔆LOCATION🔆<br/><br/>Bar Sur Loup is a small café situated on Bulleen Road in a row of shopping stripe near the exit to Eastern Freeway.<br/><br/>🔆SERVICE🔆<br/><br/>As take-away was only available we ordered our crepes and waited outside for our order. There was a bit of a wait as there were other customers ahead of us that had ordered food/drinks. Lucky the weather was sunny so we were happy to stand around and wait. The lady was very nice bringing out our crepes and although we didn’t get plastic forks or napkins we asked for it and she came back with 2 sets for us.<br/><br/>🔆MENU/PRICE🔆<br/>I don’t know how long this promotion will last however they have: <br/>Happy Hour two for one crepes only on Wed, Thurs and Fri between 12pm to 2pm.<br/>Flavour options include: Nutella, Citron, Honey & Butter or Plain crepes with ice cream.<br/><br/>🔆VERDICT🔆<br/>So the promotion wasn’t very clear. My friend wanted Nutella and I wanted the Citron, Honey & Butter. However, upon ordering we were told that the 2 for 1 crepes deal has to be the same flavour crepes. So in the end my got 2 of the Citron, honey & butter crepes. <br/>It was very tasty, light and refreshing! <br/><br/>

Love this place! Best Nutella and strawberry crepes. Good coffee. Nice ambience and always lovely service. Have been a regular customer for years.

As a fan of French pastries it was a fantastic treat to have brunch at Bar Sur Loup recently. Specialising in homemade crepes and waffles, there really is something for everyone here. Both savoury and sweet varieties are available, as well as classic croissants, madelines and Croque Monsieur.<br/><br/>The cafe itself is very sweet. A cosy white interior with big windows, loads of light and lots of little French touches. A row of silver topped gelato cannisters is intriguing, and the bistro furniture is chic and comfortable. Our hostess was so lovely and welcoming, talking us through the philosophy of the cafe, and it's use of local fresh produce. The food is simple, but executed beautifully, and everything is delightful.<br/><br/>We started with some fresh juices and smoothies, full of healthy fruits, and so refreshing. Our coffee was excellent too. From the excellent selection of crepes, we chose to have one with thin apple slices, chevre and walnuts. Wow, what a taste combination. The mix of sweet and salty was divine; and the crepe itself was wafer thin and a great base for all of these flavours. It was a generous serving, and a reminder of just how good a French crepe can be.<br/><br/>Following on with something a bit more indulgent, we had a waffle with chocolate, caramel sauce, strawberries and banana. The waffle again was exceptionally made. Crispy edges with a sweet, fluffy texture; and the addition of fruits and chocolate was perfection. The strawberry gelato was fabulous and had a very fresh taste.<br/><br/>Bar Sur Loup is the perfect destination for some good, honest tasty treats served with passion and love. Whether you just visit for coffee and pastries, or you choose an indulgent crepe or waffle; you will love the cosy ambience, friendly service and fantastic food. I can't wait to return for more of these delicious French treats.

Invited out with a group of mates this French inspired cafe offers crepes, pastries, tartine and baguettes. We tried a savoury crepe and croque madame. Quality ingredients are used and this was very noticable with the amazing jamon (prosciutto) in the crepe. The coffee here is also very good. If you're out in the area it's worth a visit.

I found this place on Ubereats and haven't looked back. Possibly the yummiest food around, and my favourite coffee in Melbourne. Do yourself a favour and try the Croque Monsieur...

@barsurloup A quaint little patisserie in the heart of Balwyn North! Walked into the Parisian inspired cafe and it has a nice lovely courtyard at the back for warmer days.<br/><br/>There was a good variety on the menu and they have crepes and specials available as well. They serve liege waffles both available in sweet and savoury options. We got to try their croque madame and I must say it was an absolute favourite. <br/><br/>The ingredients used were of gourmet quality and the cheese in the croque was so good. We also had the La Biquette crepe and it was nicely executed, and the prosciutto went really well with the honey and walnuts. The crepe was really light and it complemented the ingredients really well. <br/><br/>They do have Gluten Free options which does come in handy. There are ready baked goods at the front counter and gelatos available as well. Would love to be back to try the dessert crepe as they do have quite a few options available.
Hello. Imnikki
In a nod to all things French, Bar Sur Loup brings taste of the French countryside to the sleepy village of Balwyn North. On the menu, you will find quintessential French offerings such as sweet and savoury crepes, waffles and croque monsieur. <br/><br/>With a focus on fresh and quality ingredients, the dishes here excel in taste and flavours. The croque madame was beautifully executed, and is the epitome of simplicity at its finest. This was also the case with the La Biquette, a savoury crepe comprising of prosciutto, honey, walnuts and roquette. Paired with coffee and fresh juices, it was a most satisfying meal.<br/><br/>We really wanted to try the waffles but we were too full so a return visit will have to suffice.

Definitely wonderful is have a great waffle and crepes places in the east side. The Bar Sur Loup waffles was great and so was the ricotta crepes. The place do simple French home cuisines and it is delightful.
The Critical Barista
A simply divine French cafe in a daggy strip of suburban shops; who would have thought it? Bar Sur Loup is easily accessible to most of melbourne as it is just off the m3- so you have no excuse to not try it out! <br/><br/>I shared the egg and bacon baguette and ham and asparagus crepe with a friend. The crepe was very delicate and light, considering the generous amount of Brie inside. We also shared a maple syrup crepe for dessert- and I gotta tell ya, it’s probably the nicest crepe we have ever had. It didn’t even need ice cream, it was a perfect as is. <br/><br/>We left feeling really very satisfied and full, agreeing it was the nicest breakfast we have had for a long time. Keep doing what you are doing guys!
Karen Applebottom
I&#039;m extremely disappointed about the service to me and my friends. They overcharged them me and all my friends and when one told them they overcharged her they rudely said no to giving her money back. We then asked to talk to the manager and she kindly gave her money back. The crepes are extremely overpriced for what they are. Me and my friend will not be coming back and could get the exact same flavoured crepe on a school emersion day for $5. WE WILL NEVER RETURN. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS CAFE TO OTHER PEOPLE!!!!! #DISSAPOINTED

Bar Sur Loup is my favourite breakfast place to go to. My favourite dish is the waffle caramel which has salted caramel sauce, almond crumble and last but not least the delicious salted caramel ice-cream.
Littlefoodiekiki
Paid a visit for a nice breakfast with some friends. I ordered the egg and bacon savoury crepe. The crepe was very soft, thin and delicate, which was nice as it didn’t feel like a heavy meal. However, it was very easy to break, but that did not alter the flavour so it was fine. The crepe itself had baby spinach, free range egg and bacon rashes. Without the bacon, the crepe is a little bland, as the bacon gives it that salty flavour. Personally I’m not a huge fan of bacon, but coupled with the baby spinach and crepe, it was not overly salty or oily. <br/><br/>Additionally, the staff were extremely welcoming and friend, offering their suggestions and notifying us of any fresh cakes or muffins that had just been baked. Although I didn’t try one, I would love to come back next time and try a Nutella crepe or a muffin.<br/>

Bar Sur Loup has a really nice feeling about it. The people that serve there are the best and it has this really vintage feeling about it. They make homemade waffles and their ice cream is soooo good.

This is a great place to check out if you are in the mood for crêpes, waffles and French inspired dishes. I had the classic nutella crêpe with bananas and I added strawberries as they go great with nutella and made it more filling. My friend had the bacon and eggs crêpe and added cheese which she really enjoyed. I’ve previously tried the waffles with the bananas and strawberries, which was sweet and delicious. There is also savoury crêpe flavours which I’m keen to try one day.

Came here for coffee and dessert and it was alright, even though the waffles were abit pricey.<br/>Service was terrible and I was disappointed since the reviews were so positive.<br/>We walked in and the staff did not even bother to greet us, and one of the girls even made eye contact with me and walked away! <br/>Was basically treated like transparent the whole time we were there and definitely will not be coming back here.
Courtney Bird
Visited here the other day! We tried 3 different baguettes which were all ok. The turkey one was maybe a little too heavy on the Brie cheese and the avocado seemed more like a mousse. The bread is also quite thick and chewy. The waffles were quite doughy, heavy and not as I hoped. In addition, they didn’t appear to have many types of tea.

This place is a lovely little local cafe with great service and perfect coffee for a cold morning! Great baguettes and crepes ! Highly recommend
Danica Tanica
Had the Nutella crepe - it was amazing! Would recommend to all the sweet tooth’s out there. Staff are very polite and know how to make a great coffee.
Sasha
Cute French style restaurant. There are so many options for food; anything form sweet waffles to savour crepes and eggs Benedict. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The coffee was made perfectly. The food came out fairly quickly and the price was alright. I enjoy having breakfast here.

If you are craving some sweet or savoury crepes and waffles, this is the place to visit. I had the caramel waffles served with homemade salted caramel sauce, salted caramel ice cream and almond crumble. They were amazing, coffee was great and so was the service.
Starswerebright
The crepes are great! Had the la bretonne which was caramel-deliciousness! The staff are lovely and the coffee is good. Can’t wait to come back and try more crepes. Check it out!
DaniB @eatmystreet.net
Beautiful little French style cafe with lots to love. They take their Illy coffee seriously & have a tempting range of waffles, crepes, pastries & eggs to tickle your taste buds. Beautiful clean interiors at this busy little local spot.

After reading glowing reviews on this place, I decided to check it out for myself.<br/>One Sunday morning, nursing a little bit of a sore head from a few wines the night before, I ventured into Bar Sur Loup for a cure.<br/>Decor is pretty, if a little simple. I sat myself on a quite little table so I could get some sun on my back and watch the world pass by.<br/>I ordered an egg and bacon crepe with a coffee. Coffee was great but it all went downhill quite quickly from there. <br/>The menu states that the crepe comes with hollondaise; the food was dropped off at my table without any acknowledgement to me or a chance for me to ask the waiter for my missing sauce. So I get up and head back to the counter where the cashier unapologetically says “oh we don’t give it out, I usually ask, I forgot”. If it’s on the menu, it’s on the plate. I shouldn’t have to ask for something I had paid for. If wastage is an issue, perhaps remove it from the menu but offer it as an upgrade? Profits all round there.<br/>When the sauce arrived at the table, it was fridge cold and bland. No salt, no tartness from wine reduction or lemon. No golden yellow colour. It looked like it had been splodged out of a store bought pouch. And while i enjoy a runny egg, I do not enjoy what I call a “snotty egg” where the egg whites are still raw.<br/>The table was rocky, the cutlery too blunt to cut through the slightly stodgy crepe and wrapped in a dampened paper napkin. Perhaps they were wrapped while still wet?<br/>The baguette I ordered to takeaway was also severely disappointing. I was expecting a gorgeous baguette roll, instead I got a giant, tough ciabatta with a thick outer crust. Perhaps my assumption of being in a French cafe led me to believe I would perhaps be getting a French baguette instead of a roll I could have whipped up at Nonna’s house.

A nice, clean little cafe that makes a great cup of coffee. The place has a casual, laid back atmosphere but has an emphasis on quality food and coffee. Always playing music as opposed to just having the radio turned on.

My friend and I have claimed bar sur loup our breakfast place, when we catch up. We've been there a few times and we've fallen in love with the waffles. The cafe it's self is relaxing, and I love sitting outside the back when it's summer. The staff are really nice as well. Will be coming back, can't get enough of those waffles!
Claire Tan
Been here twice, food is so so. Nothing to shout for. It took a long while for the coffee to come out. I would say their core food would be crepes and waffles. Any other than that is not worth spending your money on. Coffee is pretty average too.
Nailer Tessalyn
Underwhelming, food not overly great, nothing to rave about. Nutella crepe was good, baguette a little lifeless. Nice location though in North Balwyn
Leon
The crepes are to die for and an absolute must ! My favourite is the Sicilian w\ the abundant ricotta and honey undertone !!! 🥞 Perfect place for a cold winters afternoon ! Cosy and comfortable
Tzi-Eu
A small cafe serving mainly waffles and crepes. I don't have much complaints, my salmon crepe was not bad although took a while to come out. It's a good place to stop by, not amazing though.
Christina O.
I order Ubereats from this place all the time. I love it. <br/><br/>High quality, tasty food. Always manages to arrive hot and fresh. I highly recommend the waffles, they're to die for!

Lovely local place with easy parking, really nice crepes, baguettes and drinks, and good service. One of my favourite places around the Balwyn area!

C'est si bon .... <br/>For those those pastries, freshly baked and delivered daily although not made in store.<br/><br/>Never a fan of Illy coffee beans, but it was okay fro the occasion.<br/><br/>Quaint French provincial theme, kudos for the service to the team on Saturday, friendly & pleasant service, making sure we are having fresh water too.
Michfish
My favourite crepe place in Melbourne. The staff are so lovely and welcoming and the crepe is very different from what you get else where. It is not too rich, not overloaded with butter or sauce like some of the other places. The place do get really busy and can be a long wait but if you look for something healthy and different for brunch definitely worth a try! Also the ice cream is really creamy but not too sweet, very satisfying after having savoury crepes
Roko
My favourite local Balwyn cafe.<br/>Bright , sun filled cafe with great coffee, friendly service , and fresh delicious food to top it all off. The new menu has some great new additions, like the berry smoothies. <br/>Its a must for those who live in and around the area.<br/>

I love this cafe. The staff are so friendly and hardworking, and I have had only positive experiences. Their crepes and waffles are to die for, and their drinks are superb. There is definitely something for everyone at this gorgeous patisserie.
L
Fantastic service and food. The staff are so friendly.<br/>Every time we go there we struggle to chose as there is so much choice and we (my toddler especially) want to make sure we have chosen the best there is on the menu...and the pastry...mmmmmm the pastry 👊👏

We ordered Belgian waffles, and two savoury crepes. Read the reviews before going and didn't really have much expectation but the food still disappointed me. However, just like what I gathered from the reviews, the staff are very sincere in their work and offered to remake my waffle for me, I still didn't like it because the taste was just not good. The chocolate on the waffle was yummy, as well as the ice cream. If I'd go again it's not for the food, but to support, as it does seem like they're a very sincere business.
Jac
Quite disappointed after reading the highly rated reviews posted by others. Ordered the classic waffle with melted chocolate and strawberry's and found that it was very doughy and had an unpleasant texture. The melted chocolate itself tasted quite odd; had a grainy texture to it. Both the coffee and iced chocolate were average. Did not try any of the savoury items and perhaps that would have been a better choice however, not in a rush to come back and revisit any time soon

Great food and coffee, great interior and vibe. We were well looked after despite the busy brunch time we came at. Very special place in the east
Margaret
Perfect for a teabreak, warm and simple cafe with great crepes. European styles, simple, cozy venue. Great for afternoon chilling and lovely staff make you feel you are at home. Coffee is not recommended tho even they use illys beans...

A wonderful little Parisian cafe in the middle of the suburbs. Dropped in for a coffee and a baguette and found the service to be happy and friendly. Had the salmon, capers and cream-cheese baguette which was as it should be- fresh with lovely subtle flavours. Also shared the turkey, Brie and cranberry baguette which was absolutely delicious. Coffee was pretty well perfect too. People around me were enjoying a lovely bowl of soup which looked ever-inviting! Get there!
Simplyj
The lovely homely french provincial decor, warm friendly service and tantalizing menu of Frenchy treats will bring us back despite the disappointing baguette.

Nice atmosphere, friendly staff, summery setting and very attentive service.Food served not just presentative and tastebuds.Friendly service !

Amazing crepes, waffles and croissants! The vanilla slice was also perfect. Staff are always welcoming and friendly! Great for those with a sweet tooth but also has yummy savoury options.
Tilly
A lovely little cafe with excellent service and amazing food! Staff were really accommodating for dietary needs and any other requests we asked for! Everything we ordered was beautifully presented and tasted amazing! You cannot go pass their Nutella crepes!! Overall a great experience and we will definitely be coming back for more!

Yum yum yum!<br/>French baguettes, salads and pastries to die for!<br/>Great service that's quick. Fresh ingredients. What more could you want!? We love the cafe!

Bar Sur Loup is lovely place for Brunch, Lunch, Breakfast and Afternoon Tea. There is something on the menu for everyone. Delicious selection of baguettes, crêpes and waffles. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. The food is authentic French, fresh and super scrumptious. <br/><br/>TIP: Do order a Ham Baguette- they are fresh and very tasty. Don't forget to try the waffles and crêpes- authentic and to die for. Our favourite is the classic Crêpe with Nutella.
Lorraine
Very friendly and helpful owner and staff. Delicious crepes (they even do Gluten Free!), yummy sweets, great coffee and really nice atmosphere.

This place has been sitting in my bookmark list for a while and finally we had a chance to visit today as part of our cafe quest Easter project. 😀 Noticeable quality Illy coffee incidentally originated from Trieste where part of my in laws was from. We also enjoyed savoury crepes - one with salmon, cream cheese and chives and the other with ham, egg and cheese. Cute place with a lovely subarban vibe. Friednly service too.
Coffee And Food
Not a bad place to have breakfast. Coffee is not my choice there. Chocolate croissant are just too chocolaty and Nutella banana crepe is just perfect 👌

Decided to visit this little suburban cafe with fellow foodie Julian B Ho for our spontaneous idea sessions. What an interesting and quirky name. But the ambience and setup is anything but quirky. Some may say...plain. <br/><br/>Don't mean to be overly critical but there aren't too much for me to write about. The coffee uses Illy beans. It is far down my list of favorites due to it's lack of character. But it's mellow and neutral nature will appeal to many. But for me, it lack the bitter fragrance of dark roast, or the buttery silkiness or the endless range of fruit or spice finish that one tend to question "did I taste tht?" With illy, it gives you simplicity, mellow...familiarity. Plain.<br/><br/>We ordered the classic salmon and salmon de australie...it is fine...good...maybe. It's not memorable....visual or taste. One word to describe..."meh"<br/><br/>There's nothing wrong with this little cafe. But one thing does nag at me...the lack of effort to be a little bit more than average. Cafe is a passionate business. I just feel BSL have to do more. <br/><br/>
Hilda Lee
Nice little cafe with consistently good coffee. Coffee is strong, with a beautiful mix of bitterness, sweetness and creaminess (mine was with skim milk). I think it was slightly sweeter though last time I came - and I prefer it that way. Staff are really friendly and make you feel welcomed. Nice decor, it was a bit loud though I couldn't really hear my friend sitting in front of me! The crepes and baked goods looked really good, would definitely be back to try more!
Emily
Visited last in winter but it was not a great experience as previously. Coffee and drinks were all good. Crepes were nice and the menu is great. However, our waffle was raw in the middle. Staff were very apologetic and remade it. Waited a while and checked with staff to see where it was. Cue opened the waffle maker to an incinerated waffle. We ended up just getting a refund as we were running late for an appointment. Not great to get your order stuffed twice in a row. Haven't been able to convince anyone of a return visit.

Love this beautiful quaint cafe!<br/>Baguettes are fresh and yum!<br/>Crepes are amazing and the hot chocolates even better! Used to come here all the time, but moved away and now too far away for regular visits. Will drop in next time we are close by!

the crepes are majestic and delightful, friendly customer service that makes me feel comfortable. the coffees are amazing and consistent. It is the hidden gem. I really do advise people to go to this place they also have the best vanilla slices ever !!!
Isabella
Bar Sur Loup is a gorgeous little cafe with really good coffee, friendly staff and delicious waffles! I had the American waffles with bacon and maple syrup and it was so tasty! The coffee was perfect :)
Kate
What a little hidden gem! I've been quite a few times, coffee is always fantastic, both the sweet and savory crepes are equally delicious and the staff are always so friendly and welcoming. If you're a croissant fan definitely try the almond croissant and pistachio croissant! To die for!

Nestled amongst the leafy Bellevue shops, French patisserie Bar Sur Loup has quickly become a favourite brunch and coffee spot for locals since it opened in 2013. Baguettes are amazing and the Sicilian crepes are beautiful with Ricotta, cinnamon and honey, yum! Bar Sur Loup's coffee is some of the best in Melbourne with the bright red Illy sign immediately transporting me back to Europe.
Food Comatose
Indulge in a taste of France amidst Balwyn North at Bar Sur Loup Cafe. Arrangements of lavender on each table, a fresh wash of white and wooden furniture and french relics and posters on proud display bear chic surroundings for your brunching intentions. Natural light spilling from the big front windows expand the space and the inviting silver ice-cream pots and French pastries at the counter override the terms “clean eating”. I’m rather into yum eating if I say so myself. After living in Le Bar Sur Loup, France, for several years, owner Kathy Licciardi decided to bring her expertise to Melbourne and opened a patisserie that offers reasonably priced, quality food, from crepes to baguettes. What a champ.
Lucas Stewart
Hands down the best waffle/crepe place, I love the vibes and atmosphere. The combination of everything on the plate was amazing and fresh, I'd definitely recommend this to anyone!!
Food Comatose
The menu offers a range of ever changing international and seasonal dishes, both sweet and savoury. We ordered the Nutella Crepes (~$10) with added Strawberries and Banana (extra ~$2.50) and the Waffle Americaine (~$12.00). Coffee lovers can rejoice as they serve coffee sourced from Illy and it's très bien. We were thrilled with the wallet-friendly prices and we highly rate the quality and creaminess of the coffees! The crepes were delicately thin, filled and drizzled with warm Nutella and fruit. The waffle dish appealed to that unique combination of sweet and savoury flavours with lashings of honeyed maple syrup and salty bacon gently set upon the crunchy waffle.
The Poss
Had to pay a visit after the numerous raving reviews of this local cafe, and wasn't disappointed! The lack of French cuisine around the area is somewhat frustrating, but BSL is definitely not just a cafe throwing themselves on the map to fill the void. Their service is quality and gives you a warm and homely feel (largely due to to do with the small space and cozy environment). Food is top, generous servings with the crepes and waffles being the standout. Coffee was good too, and definitely a good spot for bikers riding along the Koonung Creek trail to take a break!

My mouth watered as we entered the cafe. The sweet smell of chocolate filled the air. The decor was pretty and the deserts looked wonderful. We ordered the ham & cheese crepes, waffles with melted Belgian chocolate and cream filled doughnut. After all the anticipation we found each of the items w e ordered to be bland. Also our two plates arrived so far apart that 1 if us had almost as the second plate arrived. Would go back for a hot chocolate or coffee but would skip the food.

I went there recently with friends one of whom had very restrictive dietary options. Bar Sur Loop went out of their way to assist to the point of making a special batter for her. This was fantastic and made breakfast very enjoyable for all. Well done and I will be back.

Named after a little village in the South of France, Bar Sur Loup brings an authentic French flavour to my local neighbourhood. After driving past several times, I finally decided to take my mother to see what the French patisserie with the black and white awnings and picket fence had to offer. We were pleasantly surprised with what we found. <br/><br/>Images of the village were strung upon the walls and the sounds of Piaf could be heard playing lightly in the background. The staff were absolutely darling and the owner, Kathy, personally greeted and seated us. After some small talk, she even sat down with us to tell us about her time living in Bar Sur Loup with her family and her ambitions to have bought a little bit of France back with her. What an absolute gem.<br/><br/>Although only intending to stay for a coffee, the aroma of Belgian chocolate as you walk in the doors signed the deal for me. We shared The Classic Waffle, which was smothered in Belgian chocolate and fresh strawberries. The only mistake here offering to share with my mother, as I demolished it before she could get a couple of spoons in. #sorrymum<br/><br/>The Verdict?<br/><br/>Delectable treats, charming ambience & above and beyond service.... What a fabulous first impression. I think I may have found my new local sweet treat.

Nutella Crepes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Tried this place three weeks ago and have been back every week since! Love the Nutella Crepes!! So glad a cafe like this has been open in the suburbs- I hate the city :)

Not as good as it used to be!. I've been coming to this gorgeous cafe since it opened and at present have tried nearly everything they have to offer on there menu and displays. <br/>My most recent visits have left a pretty sour not too sure taste in my mouth. <br/>The crepe i had was dry stiff and very tasteless.. Filings can be hit and miss too.. And most times they have already run out of ingredients to make the crepe I ordered. <br/>Coffee is good and all there pastries are fantastic.
Paprosea
Amazing Food!!. Without a doubt some of the best breakfast to be had in the area, alas this comes at a price.<br/>The first time we went there the service was excellent and the food was to die for, I wish that is the memory I still have for the place.<br/>Since then the service has dropped and for the last 3 visits they have failed to get our order right. <br/>While wait times are to be expected in small cafe's, wait times with wrong orders and also the table next to us's order, well.... enough said.<br/>Try the off peak hours and you will be amazed at the food, but their lack of consistent service has lost them our potential weekend loyalty.

Yummm. Cosy atmosphere, nice decor. Had the classic double waffle and apple crepe with goats cheese. Both were well done, soft and clean flavours. Staff were friendly. Would definitely come back. Great little creperie in the eastern suburbs!

Lovely cafe. Lovely French cafe serving yummy waffles and crepes.

Oh La La, Crepes and Coffee. This lovely little French inspired cafe in North Balwyn is a wonderful surpise. Good coffee, delicious crepes and coffee and friendly service. The young staff can be a little haphazard, but everyone is always very friendly and helpful.

Friendly staff, helpful service and great atmosphere - clean and cosy <br/>Nutella crepe was delicious

Nice Waffles. The waffles are good as so are the crepes, except I don't understand why you don't have cream, in the middle of winter not everyone wants to have ice cream, the place is nicely decorated and the staff are very friendly however the coffee needs a lot of work and this needs to be fixed as there are a few places now offering excellent coffee in the Balwyn area

Awesome crepes and awesome service!!. We are regular customers and have never had a bad experience.... love the atmosphere, love their coffee and the crepes are all delicious..( have tried them all)! My daughter's birthday cake was purchased from there...55 most delicious chocolate macarons !!!!

Disappointed. Read the reviews and raced down there, ordering the spinach crepe. It was disgusting. A lazy crepe of fresh spinach and some scattered goat's cheese. Flavourless. I expected cooked spinach. I left most of the crepe on the plate and left, never to return.

Friendly, welcoming service! Absoutletly delish croissant! Coffee was a little disappointing , but nothing to deter you from returning. The helpful service means we will most certainly be back!!

Perfect for that afternoon delight. Was just searching for an afternoon coffee hit and stumbled upon this cafe. The cappuccino and latte which we had were delicious and it is one of the few venues that know how to properly froth soy milk. As a bonus we also tremendously enjoyed the Nutella crepes with fresh strawberries.

Absolutely delicious. Visited Bar Sur Loup for the first time this morning. We enjoyed smooth, creamy coffee that left us all wanting a second cup. The waffles with chocolate sauce and strawberries are to die for, do yourself a favour and don't get the single serve, go the double its worth it. Also tried the savoury crepes with tomato, cheese and ham. Yum. <br/>Have driven past this place many times and just together discovered the magic of it.

Regular Punter. I have visited this establishment every Sunday for the last 6 weeks and quite enjoy the crepes and waffles aswell as the coffee and organic juice. The only downside is that meals arent brought out together and I am left eating my meal and almost done until they bring my wife's out later. The counter staff are pleasant but do get the order wrong from time to time also which can be a nuisance. All in all, its a great place with lovely products but they definetly need to get the orders out together to make the experience more pleasurable.

When your 6 year old asks you... Is there another word that describes better than divine, that's when you know you've hit the jackpot! The Nutella and strawberry crepes were what brought on that comment , but for me it was the spinach and feta crepe ( le grec) that left me speechless! Thanks guys for making a family outing so joyful! Well definitely be back!!!

Today my sister & I finally made our way from Mernda to a little piece of France in the leafy suburb of North Balwyn. And it was worth it! Delisioso! As soon as I walked in my eyes lit up with delight... finally a bright, fresh, clean cosy place to eat compared to the many dark places out there. We had the Mediterranean Crepe & an Illy coffee. My son had the Belgium Waffle. Gone in no time. Also, took home a packet of Apple Pie Muesli and a takeaway fruit tart...I polished that off in under 2mins as soon as I got home! My only negative was not grabbing a takeaway coffee for my drive home...seriously really nice coffee. I'll be coming back for more...lastly, the service was fantastic, the kitchen & premise immaculate.

Love this gorgeous cafe, service is great and very friendly and the waffles and coffee are to die for.

Yummy but sloppy service. The pastries are delicious, the coffee is great and the savoury crepes are OK (but not as good as everything else), but what leaves you with the worst taste is how disorganised the staff seem to be. You can wait a while to order when there are only a couple of other customers, the coffee is not quick and when it comes time to pay, the frustration of waiting until the staff member finds the paper and then keys it into the register is like pulling teeth. If they can fix this up, it will fast become a favourite.

Great place. Nice coffee. Yummy crepes. The only fault I can find is there needs to be more vegetarian options. Not that I'm vegetarian but like having that choice. Will be back!

Excellent coffee with a nice atmosphere and great friendly customer service.

Cute little cafe. Good crepes (we had the banana & Nutella one) and the baguettes looked really good too. Coffee was also good, not brilliant but still nice. Would come back again

We went into this new eatery to have brunch but it was full. We stood around the counter to wait for an empty table. The two staff were busy so we waited for them to look up. Two people walked in yelling greetings and were given a greeting back by the working staff behind the counter.. Obviously their friends. Still no acknowledgement.. Disappointed we left.

Love the egg, ham and hollandaise crepe!

What a absolutely stunning new cafe. So impressed , had the ricotta, cinnamon and honey crepe today. Beyond delicious. Great friendly staff. Can't wait to come back.

Great coffee, the freshest croissants and the kids think the waffles and crepes are awesome.. Love the kitchen. Such a fresh and chic little place.

The Illy coffee is great. Just right everytime I order. I've tried all the treats from waffles, creeps, vanilla slice and the pistachio croissant. All great but the crepe with Belgian chocolate, nutella, strawberries and banana is my favorite. A great little café. A must see.

Very fresh and cute cafe fit out. Crepes are nice and thin - just the way I like it. Fresh fruit tarts were delicately made with crisp but melt in the mouth shortcrust pastry and very light creme patisserie. Can't say I am a big fan of the illy creme - bit too sweet for my liking and cup size is very small for what you pay for. Otherwise very friendly service and pleasant atmosphere.

Worth the drive wherever you live!!. This place... good lord. I was SO impressed!! <br/>I love love LOVE the Illy Crema! Where ever you live, its worth the drive just for the Illy Crema! A little piece of Provence. This new patisserie is my new go-to for crepes, which I love, although I must admit I am now loving the waffles. Try the BarSurLoup waffle as it is my favourite. Have also just tried the Illycrema. Totally amazing. Atmosphere is great and the decor is fresh. Tres Bien!

Macaroon & coffee pick up. As I am always chasing the next best macaroon, I think I have found it here at this new shop on the block. Walking into this place is like a breath of fresh air. The decor of pale creams with the red latte machine, the friendly staff, bustling of the crowd and of course the home made macaroons and other enticing treats.<br/>The owner has been making various flavours; the latest caramel & choc... delicious! I bought one to try and was sold to buy a packet. The icecreams and sorbets are also out-of-this-world. At the time of this review I am eating my 4th macaroon! Yum! Look out for the chocolate fountain in the corner.

Excited at the prospect of more cafes closer to home, I was intrigued by the recent review in GoodFood on Bar Sur Loup. Situated in a quiet suburban strip of North Balwyn, I’ve spent many a high school afternoon slurping chocolate milkshakes and iced coffees at the nearby Hahndorf’s. Visiting on a late weekend afternoon, I was pleasantly surprised by the bright, chic layout, with cushioned window seating, small outdoor tables and of course, the main counter – which displayed sweets, baguettes and ice cream the traditional way with shiny silver domes. I’m keen to come back and sample the salted caramel! My love for desserts knows no bounds and it was tough choosing between traditional french crepes or belgium waffles. Eventually, waffles won out and they came out topped with lashings of chocolate and fresh strawberries. A lovely serving of two, I was a bit disappointed to find that whilst fluffy and sweet, they lacked the crispiness that I prefer. However, this version was closer to the
