Review The Jolly Miller Cafe Balwyn - Balwyn

Most outstanding is the excellent customer service from the staffs working here. Astrida served us and is very attentive to customers needs’ and friendly. Chilli scramble was delicious. Kids Mac & Cheese was a little dry. Great atmosphere and great hang out place with family and friends.

Food presentation is good but taste just fine, not too impressive. But a nice place to have a brunch and catch up with friends.

My companion and I had breakfast here. Pictured is the Brekkie Bruschetta, a delicious pan fried cauliflower, asparagus, halloumi, mushrooms, capsicum, tomato, rainbow baby carrots, pickled onion, poached eggs on toasted ciabatta with basil pesto and balsamic glaze, while I went for the Crushed Avocado That's avocado mixed with quinoa topped with tomatoes, marinated feta, seeds, radish, and pomegranate served on toasted ciabatta with poached eggs and house made minted capsicum chutney (minus the eggs). The food was delicious and the service was good too. The meal with 2 coffees came to $50. For those with a four legged friend, they also have a menu for dogs, which I thought was a nice touch.

We visited the jolly miller cafe with our family and the service was fantastic, all the staff were very kind and helpful. I mostly enjoyed the food. I tried the Atlantic breakfast and it was delicious. i was surprised that they also had vegan options. Overall my family and i had a great experience at this cafe. This place is probably one of my favorites so far and i will for sure be back to come regularly.

Came here for brunch with the family and our furbaby and super dog-friendly. Ordered the breakfast bruschetta and the atlantic - both were delicious. Our pupper enjoyed a puppacino and dog donut as well. Service was great and the staff were super friendly and hospitable. You can tell they were trained well and care about their patrons. The staff were great with our dog too and stopped by to give a few pats! Found a local gem for sure.

Great lunch and nice to see different things on the menu. I had a vegan cauliflower steak which was unique and tasty. Great place.

Yummy food, friendly staff, we will be coming back soon

Good coffee and delicious food! We pretty much order brekky from here every weekend during lockdown. Went in person recently and staff are friendly. Love this place!

Love the food and drinks available at Jolly Miller. It's a nice environment, however not much variety on the menu.

We went into the Jolly Miller for a take away coffee and some cakes, as we know that they usually have a pretty good selection. There was an abundance of sweets to choose from, and we chose a red velvet lamington that was so bright and vibrant. The sponge was light, and the cream filling was delicious.

We also had a peanut butter caramel slice which was rich and gooey. Just the kind of naughty indulgence that I like. The coffee was really good, great value for money and the service was friendly and fast. I enjoyed this experience at The Jolly Miller, and would return to dine in.

A pretty big venue, probably the biggest in this area. There are a few other eateries in the same strip but this one seems to have the most patronage. Didn’t order food here as we ate at the burger place a few shops down - needed to kill some time so we came here for a coffee. Service was alright, could have taken more care with sanitizing the table and seats. Ordered a flat white and matcha latte - tasted alright but nothing fancy. Probably wouldn’t come back for food though as the dishes seem quite overpriced.

We had a lovely Sunday brunch at The Jolly Miller in Balwyn. Service was amazing from the start!

I was SUPER impressed with the extensive vegan menu - 8 options, woohoo!

We tried 5 of them, including the VEGAN BURGER, FRITTERS, FALAFEL TACOS, ACAI BOWL + GREENS. We loved the burger and acai bowl the best!

There is ample parking available, lots of space in the café. Great for big or small groups! :)

The place looked great however finding two cockroaches crawling around our table was quite unsettling. The food was extremely greasy but it tasted okay. It’s quite far on the pricey side however.

The servers were kind though!
I have been here many times in the past, but had not visited for a while and my wife and I called in yesterday and I was very impressed. We had a hot pot turmeric chai latte which was very yummy. We shared the chili eggs on a croissant and it was very good as well. I finished with a double espresso which was most enjoyable. We will be back more often. No complaints about the service which was caring.

The Jolly Miller Cafe Balwyn is wonderful. My family and I love going there! The food is great; fresh and delicious. The service is friendly and fast. We are never disappointed. You want to go here!!

Excellent service, coffee and food.
The only negative is that whilst the rest of the wait staff are dressed in appropriate attire, the female manager is always dressed in the most scantily clad and revealing clothing, obviously enjoying all the leering from the male clientele whilst also flirting loudly with them as well.
You would be mistaken for thinking you are at a thai girly bar and not in a suburban family cafe.

Went here sort of by accident - as we went to a coffee shop a couple of doors away and was told the Kitchen was closed....?? So we just walked a few more metres and this looked Ok so we tried it....
Pleasantly greeted by the girl at the counter - shown to a table, great and friendly service!
Hot chocolate was REALLY GOOD !! and they were pretty fast getting the food out.
The food was also really good - not overly large serves but enough to fill you up....
Will definitely go back again :-)

The service was good, food looks pretty and yummy!! Can't stop gushing about the onion rings that came with the brekkie bun, so crunchy and sweet! Only downfall would be the mocha. It wasn't a good mocha but it was a really good hot chocolate so not much of a downfall
Spirited Stardust
Great to see they have added vegan options - there’s also vegan sweets but none are glutenfree.
I had a vegan bowl with Turmeric tofu, cauliflower, quinoa, hash brown, beet hummus, pomegranate & avo.
Also had a fresh Beet, carrot, celery & lemon juice.
I would come again.

Such a big space with a great atmosphere. The food we had was really good. Had lots of small things on offer for my girlfriend and bigger stuff for me. Coffee was great.

4.5
Loveee this cafe! Have come here a couple of times with my mum and puppy! Dog friendly! We have tried the banana bread, smashed avo and Mr Big and loved them all! Lovely staff and great fresh juices. Only negative is that we have had some undercooked egg whites in our poached eggs. We’ll definitely be back 😍

What a brilliant cafe. Brunch was amazing with very large portions sizes that had a few of us stumped to finish.

Pumpkin soup was delicious and the multi grain bread nicely toasted. I had the Vegetarian breakfast and it was just what I needed. Photos don’t do the food justice.

What we didn’t know when we sat down was this whole other section with foccaacias, slices, cakes and more. Fantastic.

Staff are just fantastic and nothing was too much trouble.

Wheelchair friendly. Kid friendly. Good carparking our the front. Bookings available.

Nice light and spacious space, lovely, efficient and attentive staff but below average coffee lets the place down.. Strange taste without any texture to the milk.

Great food!!! Had the sweet potato fritters with bacon and they were delicious!!! Very fresh, tasty and a large serving. Their coffee is good, could do to be stronger but will definitely be returning.

Lovely local cafe in the greythorn shopping district. Opting for the Mr Big and made an own breakfast it was lovely warming traditional breakfast. The vegan mud cake was a fantastic way to end the meal with the most delightfully moist chocolate cake.

3.2

Just had a coffee today which was quite respectable. Service was friendly too which is always a bonus. It’s a nice quiet space and a good spot for a restorative coffee before facing Aldi next door.

This cafe is one of our locals and we love it. The menu offers many delicious options, the portions are very big and the coffee is great. There’s lots of options on the menu for breakfast and lunch, plus all the quick/easy meals and desserts in the display fridges. The only issue I have is that's it's a lot more expensive than other cafes of the same standard so it does make us choose to go elsewhere sometimes.

Very attentive and fast service. Dog friendly outside and adequate menu options to satisfy most people!

I had the special “Belle’s” which was delicious. I ate it way too fast but loved it! I would have given it a 5 but my girlfriend wasn’t as thrilled as I was. Good to check out if you’re in the area!

Normal I don’t give low ratings to anyone. But this cafe would be exception cos it’s pricing. I’ve visiting this cafe for so long but I never look up the price till one day I ordered three small and one medium coffee at almost $18!! Seriously I was shocked by the price. The coffee is not single origin and the taste is so fair can’t compare to Axil or Seven seeds, but cost more than those cafes. I’m sorry to say I would not visit again.

Came here with my grandma (can you believe she’s 97?!) for lunch. Although it was busy, we were seated quickly and ordered drinks. After looking at the menu for a few minutes our orders were taken. The meals came out quickly, however the drinks took a while (we only ordered two coffees and a tea and they arrived after the meals!). The food was nice, huge servings that none of us could finish but they were reasonably priced. Overall it was pretty good...

I’m extremely disappointed to see that this cafe has such a lot rating! Overall - I had a great experience here to be honest. Went for brekkie with a girlfriend, was treated well by staff, that accommodated for a pram, the place had a great vibe with awesome staff :) I had the Atlantic and I was delicious! The eggs were cooked to perfection, avocado with salmon and croquettes. Only downside I see is that the menu is a little basic for my extremely annoying foodie taste 😂 but overall loved it! Would return undoubtedly

Didn't realize how good this place is! I absolutely loved there chicken salad! I didn't want it to finish was one of the best i have ever eaten. I will definitely be back again soon

One of those unscrupulous cafes that charge you more than what their menu says when you go and pay. Make sure you know the total before you pay as they will try to charge you more and look surprised when you point it out to them.

I went to this cute Cafe with my friends for my birthday and ordered an Acai Bowl. I was disappointed as it was not at the standard of quality that I expected. The consistancy was watery as if it was diluted and had bits of crushed ice in it that wasn't blended properly and did not enjoy it at all. I would not reommend this dish to anyone.
Kaity.cherry
The service here is terrible. The demeanour of the staff was not acceptable. Incredibly rude to us as we tried to place an order 20 minutes before close (we wanted a takeaway drink, knowing it was closing) but were rudely refused service as everything had already been cleaned. We understand if something is unavailable but there is a way to approach the situation without being dismissive and rude. Didn’t want our business and now they won’t get it.

Very popular place with the locals. Is sometimes hard to get a seat.Great staff, very welcoming. Special effort is made to remember your regular coffee order.
The food is of great quality, reasonably priced.

Up until now I have only had take-away mochas at this cafe, which were very yummy. I can now say the food is also delish. I had the smashed avocado which was tasty, & I liked how they added tomatoes and feta! They also have a great range of food & sweets in the window which looked yum.

DO NOT RECCOMMEND If I could give less than one star I would. We returned one focaccia because it had a a massive hair in it, in which they kindly made us up a new one, but to our disgust, not one but 2 hairs where again found in this other focaccia. We then stopped eating and went and told the manager, we were then spoken to in a revolting manner and when we decided to leave she then yelled at as being rude, loud enough for the entire cafe and us to hear, to try and make out like we were the bad guys. I would not eat here ever again, there are no hair nets worn and who knows what the hygiene is like out the back, if we can receive this food like this who knows what else you might get. DO NOT RECCOMMEND

My friend is a regular here so I have come here quiet often for coffee. Coffee here is not bad - however nothing outstanding in terms of depth of flavor. 7/10.

Tried food here for the first time, was quiet average for the price. It's acceptable for a local cafe, but their menu items are limited to the typical cafe style meals. My smashed avocado, salmon, poached eggs and spinach was literally just that - no other flavor at all. It's a different standard compared to some of the other cafes in Balwyn e.g. Mr Hendricks.

I didn't have their super shakes but they did look great.

Staff here are quite friendly and welcoming, their indoor and outdoor seating areas are comfortable.

Had brunch at Jolly Miller this morning. Always drive past and notice its relatively full! Was impressed by there big selection of sweets available! Ordered the salmon avo smash! Looked really good! The poached egg was a bit on the watery side. I question the cleanliness due to having both a dirty cup and spoon when I ordered my english breakfast tea. However they were fast to rectify the issue on a positive.
The Girl With Blue Hair
Came here for brunch and it was okay. There wasn't any "Wow" factor and the food tasted very commercial. Staff were all busy on a Sunday morning and seems a bit unfriendly at times. #laterpost

Pancakes looked great but after one mouthful I realized that all the toppings were hiding the fact that the pancakes were completely black/burned. Totally inedible. When I showed the waitress she said "what's wrong with them?" when it was quite obvious that they were jet black. She said she would let the manager know, but then no one followed up the situation and no one made an offer to rectify it. Did not offer to cook a fresh batch, or discount or refund. Never going back.

A friend chose this cafe for our next catch up after seeing their freak shakes on facebook. Located in a small shopping area, parking was ample and we easily secured a table for four at 11:30am on a Saturday morning. (For the pokemon goers - a pokestop is located just outside and a gym located just in the parking area.)

Service was top notch friendly and a couple of jokes thrown in to keep the laughter going.

Between myself and Mr Hubby, we had:

Oreo supershake; oreo milkshake topped with chocolate ganache, crushed oreos, fresh whipped cream and housemade oreo cookie ($10). One of the better milkshakes I've had, I do prefer mine to be a little thicker and after pushing in the whipped cream and chocolate ganache, the milkshake was like a thickshake.

From the specials menu, the jolly burger with grilled Angus beef patty, egg, bacon, beetroot, cheese, caramelised onion, homemade BBQ sauce and lettuce on a brioche bun served with chips ($21). Mr Hubby thought the burger needed a little more sauce but otherwise would consider this to be a decent tasting burger. He's only comment was the buns were larger than the patty and ingredients inside the burger which meant he had mouth full of bun with nothing inside.

Pulled pork sliders; pulled pork in mini brioche buns with caramelised onion, baby spinach and aioli served with crispy beer battered chips ($18.90). Chips were very crispy (loved it with the tomato sauce). The pulled pork itself could have been a little more shredded and infused with a little more flavour to bring everything together.

I also had a taste of the zucchini fritters which didn't look appetising on the plate (imagine pancake sized and brown in colour) however appearance aside, the flavours in the fritters was delicious.

Recommend:
Try one of the freak shakes!

Follow me on Instagram for more photos: @fo0die

I have visited the jolly miller cafe a few times these past few months as it is an easy stop for a quick coffee run. I decided to come in for a late breakfast on Sunday after checking out their menu and have to say I absolutely loved the waffles and their presentation! My friend ordered the "winter" bruschetta. Another happy camper :) will defiantly be coming back to try more of there items!

GOOD: friendly staff and homely atmosphere, a good place to sit and chill with a nice cup of coffee.

BAD: it's not open 24 hours a day.

TASTY: the soy hot chocolate by Adrian is on point.
