From the smell, to the taste, from the first bite to the last morsel used to mop up the gravy, it’s heavenly. Thank you for keeping my stomach full and my heart warm in such a cold existence xx
A friend of mine told me about Lemongrass Chicken. I have been there 9 times since I've moved to the area 2 months ago and I will definitely be going back :D The staff welcomed us with open arms and very generously dropped off a chicken and a couple salads unexpectedly when we were still unpacking 😍
We have been visiting this institution consistently over the past 15 years
It is always fresh, delicious, ample
Chicken salt on chips a must
Fantastic tasting chicken and chickens. A North Balwyn institution.
Yes I can acknowledge not paying by card can be a little inconvenience but there is a bank directly across the road. Can't see what the big deal is.
The salads are beautiful and everything is fresh and cooked daily.
Have been coming here for years and definitely won't be going elsewhere.
Cannot recommend it enough.
For years .... North Balwyn village legend.
Family own, clean, and still one of the best chips around .... roast chicken is okay too.
We've been coming here since the late 80's, a few changes, still family run, still clean, enjoyable, albeit no Charcoal just a normal oven, but still one of the best chips in Melbourne.
Thank you.
Never disappointed by the local chicken shop. Basically a North Balwyn institution. Where mums would take their kids after school, where year 12's from Balwyn High have their lunch on their spare periods.
Good deals and quality roasted chicken, plenty of salad types to add to your meal, real value.
My all time favourite is their Lasagne which I believe is actually Pastitsio which I believe is Greek. But don't let that fool you, its absolutely delish while hot.
Food for take-away but I prefer to eat in.
The family who owns it are lovely and have worked really hard and consistently to keep this place up to a high standard. Believe they've even won awards.
Had a lot of mixed experiences here, but the most recent time I visited (June 2016) there was a huge improvement. Their chip salt is great (lots of herbs) but the chips are sometimes soggy. Chicken is pretty good, sometimes a bit on the dry/tough side. Salads are decent, but the coleslaw is quite dry as there doesn't seem to be any mayonnaise in it.
I am lucky enough to have been a customer since the mid 80's as a child. As an adult Lemongrass Chicken is destination shopping for me when I crave Chicken and chips as I have moved many suburbs away.
Bill and his family and a beautiful older lady were so kind to me as a child and I will never forget it.
Their Hot Chips are the best I have ever had and the Chicken is always tender and tasty.
Thank you so much Lemongrass Chicken for all your kindness during my childhood years. 35 years later, it is not forgotten. The biggest hug to the beautiful older lady who is one of the kindest people I have ever met.
Been eating here more than ten years.
Fabulous experience. Nice Bais family.
Nice chicken,nice chips,nice food.
best fried chicken in Melbourne that I have seen. Quarter chicken about $5.40 but a few cents extra is worth it. North Balwyn so close to my home.
Strictly cash only. Great local charcoal chicken. Can be a bit pricey when buying for the family so make sure you plan ahead. Good range of fresh salads. Limited dine in space but a few local seniors stop by to a coffee.
Best chicken and chips on the planet, and considering I've had chicken and chips in 6 first world countries, that's wicked!
The chicken is so good they sell out most nights before 6pm so be sure to call ahead. Oh and did I mention the 🍟😻
Lemongrass Chicken has been my favourite chicken shop for well over 30 years. They have large juicy chickens, fresh salads and delicious chicken sandwiches, if they have any chickens over from the night before.
Love this shop and I go twice a week!
