Review Relish Palace - Balwyn

Tony Fang
Came here with friends for lunch. A small party so just asked the chef for signature dishes as we couldnt order alot. Definitely try the seafood platter if you can handle chilli. They always use seasonal mix of seafood. There was 8 different type of seafood in ours. Great traditional szechuan flavor, fresh seafood. Definitely recommend the salted duck yolk eggplant and chicken as well. A stand out dish. Great serving size and fresh ingredients if you can handle the heat.

Authentic spicy chinese food. Very pronounce on heat and acidity type of food. Might be acquired taste for the unaccustomed. Eggplant was delicious, dumplings were ok. Cold noodle was spicy if I remembered correctly. Pork ribs can be a miss for lack of meat and too much vinegar.

Excellent beef in black bean sauce, Chinese broccoli is nice and al dente, honey pepper beef it's also lovely and the rice is perfect. Food is above average for Balwyn. We compared the dishes against Eastern Bell and the Palace gets the vote.

Wasn't too busy for a Saturday night and the food was pretty nice. I'd love to come back here to try some of the weirder menu items. The decor and service left a little to be desired, but the lighting was nice and overall, we had a nice dinner here.

We had takeaway from the Relish Palace and the Fried Rice and the Satay Beef was subpar but the sweet and sour pork was absolutly disgraceful, it was shrvelled up and looked and was tough enough it was prbabably cooked 3 years ago.

Absolutely fantastic food, some of the best Chinese I've had. (But FYI if you order dumplings delivered it doesn't come with soy sauce)

Good little Chinese restaurant. The place was very quiet when I ate there on a Friday night but the dumplings were delicious and the main was a very large serving.

Cute local Chinese restaurant - we've ordered a few times from here on Menulog and decided to come in one night for the banquet. I can't remember how much it was (around $50-60) and it was good value - we were absolutely stuffed by the end. Food is traditional but with a western palate in mind with generous servings.

One of the best Chinese restaurants I've ever been to! The food is kind of mixed style of Sichuan and Dongbei cuisine.Seriously not only the quantity but the taste went beyond my expectation every time I visit there. So glad that it's in Balwyn. I can have such nice food without driving to far to city or Boxhill. Must try!

Always wanted to try this one since I moved to Balwyn, so I decided to have dinner with friends to celebrate her birthday here last Sunday. We had many different dishes including my favourite crab noodle and oysters, loved them. It was a great experience! Definitely recommend it.

Love the food here, very authentic flavor of Szechuan food, with a great combination of home cooking and modified dishes of southeast asian flavors. My favorite dishes are sweet tender soft shell crab and grilled fish, also love the assorted hot pot, all have a great mixture of meat and vegie in tasty home made soup, i have to say the tastes are profound and memorable. Not only that, the serving size are big with a reasonable price, highly recommended!

The service was so bad, wait so long to be serviced, wait long time for food, don't give you water what so ever unless you ask. The food is just ok, do not recommend.

The food is very ordinary and also the customer service leaves a lot to be desired also. The value for money is also severely lacking. Don't waste your time here, make the short drive to Box Hill for some very authentic and amazing Chinese food!

Horrible Food!....we ordered fried rice which was so blunt. On top of it..we asked for chilly oil which lacked salt and taste. Took dumplings as a take away menu which was another horrible dish, with lots of oil and uncooked portions. Never advise anybody to go back and waste your $$

We started off the night with some ‘Spring Rolls x 2 ($5.00)’. These were great and were accompanied by a yummy sauce. I opted for the ‘Fried Hor Fun with Beef in Egg Sauce ($12.80)’. This was massive! The beef was tender and there were plenty of vegetables and noodles. The egg sauce added creaminess to the dish.

NOT A GOOD EXPERIENCE.Sadly dinner here was not a good experience. The service was really slow and the food quite awful. Everything was overcooked and truly overpriced. We had flounder which had been stripped and deep fried like fish fingers ,Peking duck which was served made up into the pancakes.. These included very little duck in the pancakes and a lot of spring onion. They then presented the rest of the duck on the bone which was difficult to remove. The whitebait was also very deeply fried and dry. The only dish that was reasonable was the broccoli although it was swimming in oyster sauce. However like everything else it was very overpriced for an amount for two people, $25.00. We won't be going back again.

I have been here quite a few times but will never go back after tonight. I ordered in the empty restaurant and 30 minutes later asked how long it would be as every time before it hadn't been that long. She said it would be another 5 minutes and then 15 minutes later got my takeaway. Food was awful and I had had the same dishes before and I'm guessing there must be a change of management because it looked/tasted nothing like last time. Super disappointing. It's not cheap food and you expect a certain level of...well at least consistency. If you go, make sure you ask how long it will take before you pay.

Nice place. Ate there many times already. Hot food dishes are very tasty! Dumplings are nice. Also fried rice and noddles are great. Great value for your money! Will recommend!

Great of all. Love the new favor of Buns&Dumplings, combine with chef's secret recipes. Value for money, great adventure for couples if you sick the regular visit of the restaurant one stone away in box hill.

Vegetarian dumplings - not great. I just got takeaway dumplings - my husband enjoyed his pork ones, but unfortunately the vegetarian dumplings were not great at all.

Relish the Relish Palace. Lovely Malay/Chinese dishes. Generous servings which we didn't think we could finish, but the taste was so good, there wasn't a skerick left on the plates. Will certainly be back to dine or takeaway.

Great food and amazing service. Almost decided to go to Box Hill but didn't: and I'm glad! The food was great and well priced and the service was exceptional.

We had dumplings all round, which we were told were made in house and they were amazing! They had great deep fried icecream which wasn't melted at all in the middle (which I'm pretty sure must have been magic).

Overall a great place to eat and I'll definitely be going again!
