Review Bbq City Buffet - Bankstown

This place was in a complex with its own parking, so that was very convenient. We went on a weeknight and it was still incredibly busy. We were making our way to the enterance of the restaurant when a rude couple pushed in front of us. That of course had nothing to do with the restaurant but it left us feeling annoyed. We were greeted politely, and they charged $3 for my 2 year old toddler. That didn't really bother us, although most buffets let him eat for free. The first thing I noticed was the smoke, it was everywhere and it was thick. They asked us if we wanted to sit inside or outside, but the outside area didn't look open so we choose inside. The food selection was okay, but there was not much option to feed a 2 year old. He just had a bowl of jelly from the very small dessert section. It was lucky we provided him with dinner on the way there. The fried chicken and stir fry dishes were not at the right temperature because they tasted cold, like it had been sitting there for awhile. The raw bbq section was good. They had a good range of seafood and meats. They were also tasty and probably the best part of dining here. We were asked often if we wanted to change our grill plate, which was nice and they were always friendly about it. The customer service is outstanding, it was obvious to see that all their staff were trained really well. I want to give this place 3.5 stars but stuck with 3 instead of 4. The reason for this is we're not in a hurry to go back again. The rowdy and rude crowds turned us off. When we walked back to our car, there were young people hanging out in the carpark like it was a nightclub. Definitely not a family friendly place to dine.

I've heard so much about these Korean BBQ experiences, watched them on my friends newsfeeds and social media. Finally went for lunch and we loved it!! I'm no cook so I definitely felt like a Chef cooking what I wanted and how I wanted it. Lots of people go for large portions but for someone like me? I took the smallest portions incase I didn't like the flavours. This gives you the opportunity to try, then decide what you want next. There are ready made buffet style food for those who have fussy eaters. Desserts were average on Saturday, apparently lunch is average. Highly recommend, maybe not the number one Korean BBQ in Sydney but still an awesome experience. Note: Don't waste your food or you will be paying for your own waste. Enjoy it's worth it.

The meats were nice and they have some good options for the buffet too. I just don’t like their dessert (jelly no taste, chocolate cake is too sweet and banana cake is extremely sweet). But other than that, everything is good. We don’t have a booking so we have to sit outside, but it’s ok, they have heater and the place is still nice and warm. I’m not sure what happen with the floor, it was wet and slippery. Maybe something is leaking from the soft drink area.

Amazing experience, heaps of options and a great night out for family or friends. Delicious food and loved the outdoor seating area. Halal options available.

We only eat the buffet. I recommend the two tofu soup, kimchi and seaweed. The beef and octopus... Also please come early so the all stock is available 😉

Absolutely loved it!! Service & food .. Definitely recommend to try if you haven't, hot food buffet 14/01 BBQ lunch. Returned for dinner without bbq on 25/01. Extremely disappointed in the hot food buffet, barely hot, no flavour & not fresh AT ALL considering they had only been open an hour. Had only 1 serving which was barely edible but had to force ourselves to chow through as we did not want to be charged extra for leaving plates full of food. So disappointed considering we dined less than 2wks ago for lunch & were extremely satisfied, what a HUGE waste of money!!

After the price increase it has made me avoid this place. For the all you can eat bbq you're paying from $39-$59 p/person (10% Surcharge will be applied on Weekend and Public Hoilday). Also, this DOESN'T even include drink because that's $5 - drinks should be complimentary after spending that much. It has been one of my favourite places to go to on a weekly basis but not anymore. I found another place that's just as good but not as overpriced.

Just got home after my wife’s birthday dinner ,as usual the staff were friendly and attentive and the food was of the usual high standard. during our dinner a quite unassuming young man came to our table and introduced himself as the owner and explained that the manager had informed him that were regulars ,he then offered us a incredibly generous wagyu plater. I’d like to thank the owner and staff for the fine evening the food and service were impeccable.

Great services, great food,, very clean and spacious, Love how the staff takes time to help you around the table and were very friendly, I must say its worth every single cent we spent and we will definitely be doing it again. Awesome Place

From the time we called to book, to arrival, service, and staff attention during the night we had great service from this restaurant and their team. They are very professional, the food is fantastic and so fresh and tasty. There were some kids running about which is a worry with hot charcoal stoves but that is their parents issue and didnt spoil our night. Great place...

We loved it! Food and service were soo good! Definitely a place to take your family out for an occasion or just dinner. We have been back twice within this month! Definitely the best Korean place we have been to. Thank you for your service.

Good food, friendly and welcoming staff. Excellent service. Would like to see more variety in the dessert menu though.

Extremly bad experience. (It was actually pretty good at first when they opened.) Came in today at 1pm for lunch (not BBQ). They no longer provide any real food like they used to do. Barely meat to eat and desserts. Another sad thing, they kept sweeping the floor do the cleanning stuff around u. Maybe they don't care about if the dust comes into customers food. Found a hair among the beef stew after put on the plate. Showed manager straight away and he didn't say sorry at all but blaming that shit to the other customers. Well the most terrible thing was the lunch time supposed to end at 3pm as it shows on the sign. But somehow they just stop putting out fresh and warm food after we came in. There was at least 2hours left !! Won't go back to BBQ city anymore. Very disppointed.

Service was exceptional, the food was very delicious.. Delivering an extensive variety of intrinsic Korean and Japanese delicacies, cuisines buffet style at a reasonable price. Well worth the visits.

Super convenient super friendly staff. Overall very good experience for Korean BBQ buffet with even a manager Justin coming over to the table greeting us. Well done!

Definitely one of my favourite places to eat. Best food and best service!! Love the owner, always so welcoming and really pays attention to the customers :-)

Absolutely amazing food, the quality of meat is a plus... the people and customer service are great and makes the night more enjoyable. There was one chef who was talking and dancing with everyone and even let my kids help cook meat on our table. Loved it and will be back again

Great environment and great staff. I love the open space and the food is really nice. Prices need to be worked on and dropped a bit if possible.
Indyde
Always a great experience when dining her. Love the various selection of meats and also pre cooked meals. They have a great decent amount of side dishes and side meals to try from.

Spacious bbq environment with friendly staff. The best thing about this place is that the food is halal so you can cater to all your friends. The meat variety in itself is quite limited but it has the most important - pork belly. There’s about 5-7 other meat dishes and a small variety of seafood dishes too. The other cooked dishes are quite good - potato noodles, kimchi and bean sprout salad were my favourites. Overall, an ok buffet however it’s not my first choice for bbq in Sydney, especially KBBQ. You can go to plenty better KBBQ buffets in Sydney for the same or cheaper price and get better quality meats and dishes.

There is a surcharge on weekends! Beware of this as adult prices can go up to $40+. Food variety is fair, sometimes it gets boring and eventually it doesn’t fill me up. Desserts aren’t that great.

Environment is amazing though! Its on the rooftop
Jeanny Karmine
Just over $100 for 2 ppl on a Sunday night + one soft drink cup. Each cup costs $5.50! We didn’t know that but thank goodness we only bought one. 10% surcharge applies on the weekends. Which wouldn’t have mattered so much considering the options available.

Only down side was that the restaurant was packed and there wasn’t enough plates to collect the meats/ other dishes. Quite a few people were waiting around for more dishes to be washed at one point. They also didn’t have the churro chips the time I went which was quite disappointing because I was looking forward to it! No recent desserts this time, only mini cup cakes and mandarins.

Visited this place on a Saturday for a late lunch. The restaurant is located at the top floor of Little Saigon Plaza. Once arrived we were accommodated immediately. The price for the buffet was bit expensive considering were not doing any bbq just buffet. Food is basic Korean fare. Didn't get much value for the money we paid for. The soy fried chicken was nice. What I love is the dessert bar, although it consisted of only 3 items but 2 of which are pretty good. The donut sticks and churros with chocolate dipping sauce just won me over. Even if I didn't enjoyed the meal much I was pretty happy with my churros. The place looks fancy but the food is just average.

Don’t bother booking for a table. We booked a table for lunch time and when we arrived it seemed they had not reserved us a table, had given it to other people and made us wait with the others who had not booked. they didn’t seem very fussed at their error either which was frustrating. Very disappointing as there is a reason we booked. The table they gave us wasn’t even big enough to seat all of us
Monica Nguyen
Nice seating but staff were really rude when we requested a bigger table which was disappointing. A variety of food available but meats and seafood were really over marinated which was unpleasant, there are much better BBQ buffets out there.

How is it Halal when you also serve pork? Strictly speaking, your plates or pots are washed and reused and who knows if that plate has served pork previously?
This makes completely no sense to me if you still serve pork yet calling yourself a Halal restaurant. Regardless where you have purchased your meat, if that meat gets marinated and prepared with pork and then you seperate them for different customers, it WILL NOT BE HALAL! I just don’t get it...
Elaina
Honestly kinda overpriced for the quality, the variety was decent but the food was overall disappointing especially for $48 pp , probably wouldn't go again but I met my boyfriend here so that's a plus
Foodfun
Very pricey!!
Not many meat variety to BBQ
The pork belly was cut so thick and was flavourless.

The rice paper wrap are a good edition. Hot food variety was ok thus lack care and flavour.
Fatmine
The cashier was not friendly and did not communicate well - for 4 people she just gave me a total of $X (Over $160) . When I tried to question her how we go to the total of $X, she didn't explain it well and with the queue behind us, I think she just wanted me to pay and move on.

Overall, I was disappointed - the quality of meats were not great. Over marinated - very sweet.
Seafood was not fresh!!!
Cooked foods were also not amazing. I am not Korean but have dined at many Korean restaurants over the years and some of the dishes served here were like a fusion of Korean and laziness. It looked like Korean food - but didn't taste like it. It was like lets get some rice, add some sesame oil - there, its KOREAN now.

Cutlery stands were empty. Rarely any clean plates
The refillable paper cup we purchased was so thin it almost started to disintegrate after the one hr.

Staff frequently changed our BBQ tray - they scored points for that.

If you frequently visit Korean BBQ restaurants in Strathfield and the like - you will be very disappointed with this place. If you have never tried Korean BBQ before, I can understand the appeal.

I was really excited for this buffet. It looked awesome in the photos and I was glad that the aesthetic matched up.

It was around 6pm (it wasn't busy JUST yet) but the staff were a bit rude. It was a cold day and they let us sit inside, even without a reservation, which I found quite nice (we did have to leave by 7:30pm though).

The food was just...okay. Nothing really different but it was a bit annoying how the staff would change our BBQ plate every few minutes. It's very nice of them to do it every now and then, but we told them that we were alright and it didn't need to be changed, and they left. However, less than a minute later, the same worker came back and changed our grill without even asking. Called out 'excuse me!' and just stuck the metal stick (I don't even know what it's called) into the plate and swapped it out.

The dessert selection wasn't very... Well, it wasn't really anything at all. Although, the watermelon was delicious that night!
Ayukmakan
front service/receptionist was kinda rude and harsh. He tried too hard to convince us to eat at their place when we just asked them if they serve halal or not. I know you serve halal beef, but there are still pork. And for some people, halal not only means the meat certification, but also the whole restaurant menus (means if they still serve pork it's still debatable if the restaurant is fully halal or not). He pushed us aggressively to come inside and see just to prove that it's halal. It's unnecessary and humiliating to do such thing. You should leave the decision to the customer whether they wanna eat what you offer or not. Pls understand that customer has rights to ask before they buy and you should respect their decision if they decided no to buy.
Melzy Phan
Meat was nice but the pork belly was cut a bit too thickly for my liking, All the meat was nice and the normal buffet section was good too. It is a little overpriced in my opinion but the atmosphere was quite nice and suitable for large or small groups

HALAL KOREAN BBQ. No other place in Sydney has that option. Service is great, very friendly and helpful. Wish they would refill the Korean fried chicken abit more but food options are great. From what I know about Korean BBQ is they are meant to help you cook your food of you are unsure, firstly few times wasn't sure and wish I had some help. All good now as I am a Korean BBQ expert :)
My friend recommended me to meet at this restaurant, we haven't met for 17 years and we used to eat a lot back in the days.. turns out the place was cozy and the choice of food were excellent... they even change the grill very often so that the meat don't get too much charcoal... there were so many favourites that i had to skip many of the menu available... overall it was a great all you can eat lunch...

This restaurant attempts to combine the buffet experience w the kbbq buffet experience. It is great for people who aren't looking to binge on meat only as they offer a wide range of other dishes. However as the price per person is pretty expensive it seemed more worthwhile to eat alot of meat and not fill yourself with the other dishes- this is a shame as there are so many dishes I didn't get to try. I wouldn't mind going back and having the buffet without the BBQ.
The place is almost incomparable to other places I've been simply because it isn't the best buffet nor is it the best all u can eat kbbq and therefore falls between the gaps and is difficult to review. This leaves people who dine here specifically for one experience to be left disappointed.

Interms of the BBQ section- it is the cleanest and most organise 'all u can eat' kBBQ restaurant I have tried. The restaurant is nicely spaced to occupy alot of people yet not overcrowd the area. The service was great all night with staff clearing plates regularly.Only downside is that the meat is average quality and limited variety

In terms of the buffet section. The Korean fried chicken was very popular and delicious. Their was a unique variety of food you can't find in other buffets. However some of the food was quite cold and the variety was limited.

Overpriced for what you get especially for somewhere out west. My grill wasn't hot and I kept telling them it was the coal not lit properly but they kept changing my grill plate? Little variety and it was for a birthday. When I asked for them to bring the cake out they just handed me the box and candles, I mean where's the care factor? Ruined the surprise birthday as I had to do it all myself on a table with dirty dishes. With almost 20 of us there none of us will return. Save your money and go elsewhere.

Korean food at is best, did certainly enjoy the Authenticity of the South Korean dishes being served here, when in South Korea I unfortunately could not have any of the non veg as it wasn't halal hence this place served as the buffer.

The meat section was quite diversified with different marinations and meats for offer. Loved the kimchi and garlic bread. Staff and manager was more than welcoming,

Khamsamida for letting have a such a wonderful experience when in Sydney.

Went to BBQ city on the weekend with the family for brunch. It's a modern Korean BBQ located on the top level of Saigon Plaza. The restaurant was semi packed around 12pm.

There were lots of things to try which was great. They had the pre-made buffet food which consisted of hot food, and sushi, which was quite good.

The raw meat for BBQ was a little limited but the beef ribs were outstanding.

They even have a bibimbap, and a rice paper roll station.

Overall, it's a decent Korean BBQ buffet with lots of variety and great for big groups.
Miss Angie
Lunch buffet is great, the customer service was perfect with waiters coming every 10-15mins changing the cooking lid so you wont have to deal with burnt food. The price is quite expensive ($40 inculding bbq) but the marinated beef and other bbq meat make up for it. I would suggest to purchase the unlimited drinks for $3 because its definitley worth it. The place is very pretty with lovely decor and a nice view as it is on the 5th floor of Little Saigon. For those who want to try out KBBQ and dont want to travel too far, Bankstown BBQ City is a good place to go to!
The Next Rush
Lunch buffet is $25 per person, without the mess and fiddling around of their popular DIY barbecue - it’s perfect if you’re looking to smash a truckload of food and just shovel it in and get out.

The selection on a weekend included Pumpkin Soup, Tofu Soup, Korean Spicy Wings, Sweet Chilli Chicken, a Crab & Shitake soup, Sushi, Beef Brisket, Jellyfish Salad, Kim Chi, Prawn Cutlets, Steamed and Fried Rice. There’s also a small range of basic cakes and jelly desserts and bottomless drink for an additional $3.30.

In terms of value, for about $2 more you can access a whole carvery of roasts, have twice as much choice however contend with busy weaving through the business of a less formal dining experience making this a good choice for quick eating in a nicely decorated space that easily accommodates groups!

Level 5 in Saigon Plaza, take the lifts up from the main retail area. There is even an outdoor space to escape the smokey evening barbecue. If you’re a local - this is a nice alternative to the obvious choices.

We came here for our special Valentines Day dinner and we were sadly disappointed. It's true that the food was not refilled enough so if you weren't sitting right next to the dishes and were not there early then you will have very little to choose from. We managed to get some beef and seafood though. The main problem was that most of the different cuts of beef had all the same marinade so they pretty much all tasted the same. The Wagyu we had looked like pork. We are Muslims so we found this revolting.
For a halal Restauant to serve pork is not right in our opinion. There were only a couple of dessert options and not even any ice cream! There's gelato but there's an extra charge for it. That's not a very good buffet in our books. We paid $42 each for the option of all you can eat and unlimited soft drinks with charcoal plate, so it seemed very expensive for what was there. Maybe if you come early, say as soon as the service starts, then you might be happier. We came at around 7pm and it was from 5pm to 10pm.
They also say that if you are found to be wasting food then you will be charged another $20 extra for a donation.
We will not be coming back unless they change a few things. Some of the staff were friendly though.

Good service. A lot of variety. Everything fresh and clean. Was very responsibly priced even with added charges due to public holiday. Normally looking around $40 pee person

Most disappointing buffet I have ever been to. I went for their lunch buffet on a weekday, after hearing good reviews from fds. We arrived to the lunch buffet around 1:40pm, considered a little late but it is still lunch time and their closing time is 3pm.
We were seated straight away and I took a stroll around to get my first plate of food. I was surprised to see nearly most of the food trays are empty
and barely few pieces of food left with no sign of being refilled . I only had few leftover pieces of meat to pick on and some cold sushi with the choices of either squid or prawn.
I returned to my table with my plate only half filled and felt like there were nothing left for us to eat, just because we arrived a little later than the peak lunch hrs. We asked the manager if they r going to refill the food any time soon, and he managed to get some more hot food out from the kitchen. SOME but NOT ALL were refilled, considering how starving we were, we didn't mind anymore.
The only positive thing I could comment on was the rice paper roll that they have available, as it is usually time-consuming to prepare at home . To be able to try that in a buffet is big plus for me.
By around 30mins into our dining time, the manager approached us and told us to please take as much food as we could on to our own plates as they will start cleaning up and removing the food trays back into the kitchen. I checked the time , it was only 2:20pm and there are hot foods left on trays that were only refilled not long ago. I felt frustrated at this point with their lack of service to customers who arrived to their restaurant to enjoy an "all u can eat" buffet. When they lack the courtesy to refill food for patrons as well as pressuring them to eat quickly because they want to save the food for next session or they want to clean up and finish work on the dot at 3pm.
I did not felt welcome as a customer and i would not return again to this restaurant. It was not worth the value to pay full price and receive leftover food service. The rush to finish eating certainly did not add to the experience at all.
Anna
Buffet meal! You even have the option of choosing the non-BBQ buffet for a cheaper price, as opposed to the BBQ buffet which includes the meat as well. Lots of Korean food to choose from.

Everything was tasty except for the mandoo (dumplings), and there was a wide variety available such as pancakes, kimchi, galbi jjim, japchae, sushi, etc. There are also bibimbap options, but when you’re at a buffet I doubt you’ll fill yourself up on that. The main attraction is the wollamssam (rice paper rolls) and the great thing is you can make as many rolls are you want and all the other good stuff, at a very good price of $25!

Lots of space and clean so all in all a great environment to eat yourself silly.
Jessica Pham
Extremely overpriced for what they are offering. There is nothing really to say about friendliness regarding staff because there is zero interaction on their behalf. Service was slow and refills are minimal. Many cheaper and nicer places on Sussex street in the city. Wouldn't recommend.

My wife and I go here at least once a month and yet to be disappointed. By far the best Korean bbq place in sydney as the food is always good quality, staff is friendly and efficient. The atmosphere is great as its new and clean and great view of surrounding suburbs with the rooftop dining. Only thing I can complain about is that they don't have their stone cooktops anymore and the all u can drink soft drink is now separate.

PERFECT SERVICE, food, COMPANY, LOCATION.! Love everything about this place.! Would definitely recommend to everyone. Very child friendly and the service is AMAZING. Thanks for a wonderful experience. My second time here and will definitely not be my last.!

Extremely poor service! When we arrived, the Korean fried chicken - which I assume to be one of their popular dishes - was completely empty. Not only that, but for our entire stay, the Korean fried chicken was only refilled once. And the one time it was refilled, they only refilled it with 10 to 12 pieces, definitely not enough for everyone who was there! Though I was looking forward to the chicken, I was able to move on from this, but the two events that happened next were unforgivable.

Being polite, I only took a couple pieces of precious chicken. Two for myself and one for my partner. We had a plate in the middle of our table with kimchi and assorted foods to share. On this plate I placed a golden fried chicken for my partner. We also had drinks and soups on our table. We both split up for a few moments to get more drinks and food. Within these moments one of the staff swooped in and cleared up our table, all our effort, all the drinks, all the food and throwing the precious korean fried chicken piece that I saved for my partner into the trash. This would have been fine, we would have rebuilt our buffet base, but the korean fried chicken was never replenished. After paying full price, my partner never got to try the korean fried chicken. I already dominated mine, thinking there would be more to come. But this wasn't the worst part of our experience.

The worst part of our experience essentially forced us to leave. We were left with no other option. During our eat, the kitchen staff came out in force for their lunch and cleared out ALL the remainder of the food left over. I don't mind people having a break and a good lunch, but my missus and I paid full price for this meal, but were left with nothing to eat. They knew there were still people around eating, we were not the only diners there. They could have at least waited for us to leave before allocating food to staff. We paid full price for only part of the experience. An experience that we will not risk taking again. This is our last time dining at BBQ City Buffet. And we will be making sure to share our experience with our friends and family.

The food was pretty good and my partner is a gentle soul or else I would have happily given this place a 1.0.

A prettt good korean bbq buffet, at $40 to 60 a head tho, its not cheap. When we went, the aircon also wasnt working, and on a fairly hot day. But the service was excellent, esp compared to many other korean or asian restaurants.
