Review The House Of Thai - Bankstown

Delicious Thai food. Pretty busy on weekends but worth waiting šŸ˜Š

Food was tasty standard Thai, nothing outlandish. Had went on a weekday (Wed) lunch and got the lunch special which is a smaller portion that their dinner servings. If you get lunch special seafood, it costs $15.50 but for $1 more you would be paying the normal price at dinner time and the serving would be bigger. They were definitely taking their covid cleaning seriously and wiping down everything which was reassuring to see. I would go back but not in a rush.

The team was able to accomodate our large group on a very busy night. Additionally, our server was fantastic in accomodating our needs as two of us are gluten free. Unfortunately we didnā€™t get your name but thank you for your help! We had a great experience and will be back!

Food is alright, not that great. Wouldn't come back here for the food, it left something to be desired. The service is alright but not great. They are nice and accommodating but nothing extra which is fine. The atmosphere is decent, the seating is comfortable and the tables are very spacious. The spring rolls are probably the worst tasting spring rolls I've ever had. The price is what you would expect for a Thai place and the serving sizes are decent enough. The quality and taste of the food is what let this place down. There are plenty of Thai places nearby that will give you a better experience. In saying that, I will definitely come back here and try different dishes as I feel there is more to be offered here and I should at least give it another chance.

I called to book a table for 7 people me and my family and I was told that it had to be minimum 1 hour before going there which is fine but when I asked are they busy she said no so I said Iā€™ll be there in 15 minutes please reserve a table for me she refused but said if I book it for 60 minutes time she can do it I said I donā€™t understand there is nobody there please reserve it and she still refused itā€™s ok they missed out on $250 bucks and Iā€™ll never go there again. Please teach your staff some social skills as they are very bad with there customer service.

Terrible experience! Iā€™ve visited there roughly 5:20 pm been informed rudely by the staff that I can only stay till 6:00 pm despite the restaurant being half empty. What a joke. Only 40 mins to stay? Honestly even the manager there was rude about it aswell. Will not be back. Taking my money somwhere else!

I read positive reviews about the place so I thought Iā€™d give it a try today. We were two people and ordered two starters (coconut prawns and dim sum) and two mains (hokkien noodles w/ duck and massaman curry w/ beef). The starters were pretty decent. I wouldā€™ve preferred the dumplings to be a smaller size. But it was good nonetheless. The hokkien noodles were fine. The duck was cooked well (tender and not chewy). The noodles werenā€™t bad but Iā€™ve had better. The massaman curry was quite sweet. I donā€™t mind coconut milk-based curries. In fact I quite like them. But this was sweet without much taste. The beef was tender but that was about all the saving grace for this very ā€œmehā€ dish. Total bill: $45. OMG so not worth it!

The food is delicious, parking is readily available however the layout is a little cramped (especially when it gets busy around 7 pm) and the service is not the best in the world. The desserts, especially the fried ice-cream is definitely worth a try!!

My husband and I had dinner, Ramadan Buffet. it was amazing and so generous. I have been to buffets in Ramadan but I highly recommend Iftar here, it was booked out yet so organised, wasn't noisy and didn't have to wait for the food..

Shit food. Very bad service. Manager need to get more training. Staff even doesn't care about business. They cook food with frozen vegis and they dont care about that. Not recommend at all.

Food quality not that much good. Specially they donā€™t clean fish properly for deep fry. It was so disgusting. 2nd times I visited for their dessert item Ice cream for my kids. Their price is higher than other reputed Thai restaurants.

I love this place. Their food is consistently great with great and fast service.

Have been there a few times over the years. Staff are friendly and very accommodating. The dishes had a little too much sugar.

I asked to be seated in a secluded area but my request was declined because there was only two of us and the secluded tables for four people. When I prefer the secluded table the response was it's our busy time and was told I must a window table. They had two free tables in the secluded area and no one was behind us waiting to be seated and plenty of tables in the open section.

An authentic Thai cuisine in Sydney! My family and I absolutely love it!

The food never disappoints from the flavour to the quantity of the food. Also the service is always amazing providing their best piece of advice on what to order. Honestly never left the restaurant disappointed.

Great Thai food in bankstown. I have come here for years! They have big servings and the food is heavily seasoned. My favourite dish is beef pad see ew, masman beef and tom kar. Service and ambience is also nice.

This has to be by far the best halal Thai restaurant Iā€™ve ever eaten at because their food just tops off the list. Their pad se ew is full of flavour and isnā€™t dry like other places which is a really good thing. Also, their fried rice with prawns is amazing. However, my recent experience with staff was not 100% as we waited at least 15 minutes until we were served to order our food. Another family sat down after us and was served before us and in between the wait, the waitress was not observing to see if any customers were ready to order and proceeded to clean the whole time.. That was the only negative thing but other than that, the food is always good here.

This is my first visit to House Of Thai in Bankstown. I found that the entrance was pretty weird as it was located in an alley on the aide of the restaraunt.

The menu offers a wide range of Thai food. (Stir fry, rice, noodles, soups, salads, curry, etc...). I have decided to order fried rice with pineapple and lamb. The portion size was big. The rice and the lamb were of satisfactory taste, but generally less on the saucy side making the flavor lighter than I expected. The pineapple pieces were also a bit too large.

Service was fast, and not unfriendly. But, would've been nice to see staff actually smile!

Scores over 5
Overall: 3
Location: 3
Ambiance: 3
Menu: 5
Value: 4
Food : 3
Service: 3

Came here with the family, we ordered the Jungle Curry and Spicy Hot Plate, also looked around for kids choices and found only 2 very bland selections. So we asked if we could have a standard non-chilli noodle dish with chicken for the kids to share. We requested to make sure the chef knows it's for the kids. The dish was served without chilli, however it was saturated with the usual soy/hoysin/oyster/whatever sauce, the dish ended up at the cleaner's trolley and the kids had maccaz.

Meanwhile the Jungle Curry, aptly named, should only be consumed by jungle people. The excess use ofĀ [Phrik ThaiĀ On]Ā Fresh Green Pepper Corn and some other herb just gave it a Hot and Sour taste which was revolting.Ā

Finally, the Spicy Hot plate was loaded with onions beyond any level of acceptance, wherever you dug your fork/spoon you would be greeted with onions.

Headed down on Saturday night with about 12 of the girls from work. The actual place itself looked nice, and there was one waitress who was very friendly, but the service in general wasn't great.

We ordered entree's and mains and it was unfortunate that not all of the entree's came out together... and while some of us were getting the entree's still, others mains came out and about 5 of the girls were left waiting until the VERY end for their mains to even arrive to the table. Most of us had finished, and it took us asking several times for them to check where the rest of the tables order was (one of the girls ended up getting hers takeaway because we had all finished by the time it had come out).

The food itself was quite average. The dim sim's were nice, the curry puffs weren't a personal favourite of mine, and the chicken pad se ew wasn't bad. In saying that, the lamb in spicy sauce on a hot plate was really nice and if I was to return I would probably order that again.

All in all, I wouldn't have been so dissapointed if we were a) told there would be a massive wait on half food and b) if the service was a little bit friendlier. I wouldn't go as far to say that I wouldn't return, but I wouldn't go out of my way to head back

We visited The House of Thai tonight, as a large group. The waitresses didnt smile and everything seemed like too much hassle. Entrees came out so staggered that people had mains while some still waiting on entrees. The pad see ewe was terrible and the snow pea stir fry had no taste at all. The absolute worst thai ive ever eaten.

Amazing hokkien noodles perfect flavour :) wasn't dry like most Thai places , chicken was cooked perfectly and waitress was nice . Perfect environment would eat her again

Authentic? Wasn't sure what to expect as I was told authentic Thai dishes don't have strong flavours like we do here.
I ordered a Lamb Pad Thai. Very happy that I could have lamb in my Pad Thai! Though the first thing I noticed was how red/orange the noodles looked. After a mouthful, I have a belief this Pad Thai dish has tomato sauce as the base. It's very nice but not the usual Pad Thai flavouring you'll get. Also was a little concerned, throughout my dish, I had 3 hokkien noodles in my dish. Do they.. thoroughly clean their pans prior to the next order? I may try this place again later down the track as I react to certain crustaceans so it's very important there's no cross contamination!
If you feel like tomato noodles, get it! Otherwise might be worth trying other dishes as the quality didn't seem too bad for takeaway overall compared to the other two Thai eateries in Bankstown.

Called them to reserve for 11 people. They actually had a private room for us with a curtain, which I really liked. The food is pretty good and the price is reasonable. Even though it was just a teeny bit hard to get hold of the waitresses because we were quite far from the main entrance, everything was pretty good. They are friendly. One thing I really adored was the kids menu. We got the Satay chicken with chipssomething. It was a big plate with generous amount of chips and a juice for almost $9.
Very nice. Will go there again :)

Slow service, every order wrong. I've been here over a dozen times and never once has my meal arrived in a timely manner without me having to ask for it. Neither has my family's meals been correct. They're always something wrong.

Scoopons. They treat you like second class citizens when you use a scoopon, so rude and they serve you last!!!
