Review Lucky Cheng's - Bankstown

This place is located in the Bankstown Sports Club. The freshly hand made noodles was good. The taste was ok. However the soup was served warm, which is not ideal especially in winter. The service staff was stressed over the busy lunch hours.

This place used to be our favourite but this time we were disappointed. The noodles were slightly undercooked and the soup was only lukewarm. The serving size was also smaller than before. The taste was fine and the service staff was nice too though.

Hands down the best duck pancake in town. Love the hand made noodles.

This place used to be our best local dumplings. Unfortunately over the past few months, it continues to go downhill. The dumplings are now frozen, and when you bite into them they are either still frozen or cold. They arrive all stuck together, so there is no sou inside at all as it has leaked. The servings are so much smaller. The noodles aren't all handmade anymore, soup is served pretty cold. The shredded duck, some were fridge cold while others were warm. After giving this place a few more chances, we definitely won't be coming back now.

The hand made noodles was very good. We had the Salmon Laska which was only average taste. The curry noodles was fine. The service was good. You will find this place inside the Bankstown Sports Club

Delicious handmade noodles. Conveniently located in Bankstown Sports Club. Good service and reasonable prices! I enjoyed their duck dry noodles :)

The star of the day was the house made noodles. They are excellent. The dumplings are ok, not great. The duck pancake was very nice and so was the duck salad. They did forget to bring one of our orders to the table and we had to remind them about our missing meal, but other than that it was quite pleasant. If you're looking for Chinese food in Bankstown, this is not a great option. However, if you're already inside the club then it's not a bad place to eat. Prices are ok, but you can get much better for cheaper in Bankstown. The decor is very kitch though. A little cute for my tatse, but some people love that kind of thing.

Lucky Cheng's menu is inspired by Northern China specialising in hand made noodles (served dry or in soup) and dumplings. They also serve a variety of side dishes. You order from a picture menu and place your order on a menu list. It is located inside Bankstown Sports Club. There is seating available inside the restaurant. There are high chairs available. We came for lunch after Monkey Mania craving for noodle soup. To share, we ordered the Shredded peking duck with hand-made pancakes, Cheng-made wontons with hot and sour soup in pork broth, and Shredded duck with hand-made noodles in soup. I wanted to try the Seafood rolls in noodle soup but that had sold out for the day, very disappointing. It was only just after 1pm. I actually wanted to try a spicy soup but the kids don't like chilli and the non-spicy options did not look interesting.

As we were waiting for our food, it is always interesting to watch the chef cook. The chef was making the noodles through the glass window. The kitchen is open behind glass windows which everyone could see how they prepare the food.

The soups did not take long to arrive. The Cheng-made wontons in hot and sour soup in pork broth had nice flavours but it was not hot in heat or spice. I was looking forward to this but was disappointed. The hand made wontons were huge. It had nice mild flavours but I would have preferred them smaller as it was a bit too big to eat. It came with shredded BBQ duck, shitake mushrooms, bamboo shoots, and shallots. It had enough ingredients, not stingy on ingredients.

The Shredded duck with hand-made noodles was disappointing as it was just BBQ duck in noodle soup. I should have known otherwise I would have not ordered it. The soup was garnished with leafy greens and fried onion. The soup was disappointingly warm. I love my soups piping hot. The duck was ok, it tasted like any other BBQ duck. There was also a lot of duck. The broth was nicely balanced in flavours. The hand made noodles were nice and thin but I felt that it was slightly overcooked.

The Shredded Peking duck with hand-made pancakes took a while to arrive. The pancake was nice and crispy. It was nice to eat on its own. The duck just tasted like BBQ duck, the skin was not crispy, something you expect when you order Peking duck. As a result, it was disappointing. The hoisin sauce would have been nice if it was slightly watered down as it was hard to dip the parcels of duck.

Customer service could be improved.

Verdict: Despite our average experience, we may still come back to try the spicy noodles.

great food

Quick service, delicious food and great atmosphere. Am always super impressed by handmade noodles and I loved the fact that the chefs were super friendly and kind enough to give a bit of dough to my young cousins to play with.

If you'd like to read more of my reviews, please check out my Zomato page and visit @cynthiaeats_ on Instagram for more photos!

Their staff are quite friendly and eager to help, they also make the noodle fresh and you can see the process while having your meal. The problem with the restaurant is they use those disposable chopsticks, which are short and hard to use. Proper chopsticks would make it easier to eat. Their tables are also rather small, making it hard to have dishes to share.

Good food! Have been here twice and we ordered the exact same dishes both times- penang chicken curry noodles and duck noodles dry. Interesting that first time there was less curry sauce, more egg in the curry noodles..whereas duck noodles had only one leaf of vege compared to a few pieces prev time. Tastes good but ingredient amount inconsistent.

Really enjoyed our lunch at LC’s today. Quick, fresh, tasty and great service. Plus I love places that have the combo of siracha, vinegar and soy on the table, in other restaurants there’s always one thing missing that you have to ask for. You can certainly get cheaper handmade noodles in say Ashfield or Chinatown but with free member Parking it’s just an easy option and on taste it compares. We had dan dan noodles, wonton in spicy soup and lamb and cumin pancakes. Next time I’d get a half serve of dan dan because it’s always such a heavy dish but we were being greedy. Half serve is an awesome option as it means either no waste or if sharing, more choices. the lamb and cumin pancakes were a highlight. I could go again tmw!

We were standing outside in line at a pretty well known Pho restaurant across the road with about 20 people in front of us my wife said why don’t we just go and try that noodle place in the Sports Club turned out to be an excellent idea.
We had dumplings, Seafood Laksa, Spicy Wonton soup, Peking duck rolls, and a plain handmade pancake we were really happy with everything that turned up at the table
Service was pretty good and it was a nice touch the lovely lady let my oldest go and get some unmade noodle dough so her and her sister could play and try to make their own noodles.
Having read a couple of reviews for this place not quite sure what they had in mind and why the low rating.
For me the cost compared to the quality of the food is excellent this was best Chinese noodle place I have tried in Sydney.

I had the Malaysaian Gado Gado salad and the Plain Handmade Pancake with the dipping sauce for an extra $3.

The Gado Gado salad was poorly presented and did not look like the image at all. It consisted on half an egg, 2 piece of tofu decorated with scrap lettuce and carrot all in a diluted satay sauce. Very disappointing.

The Plain Handmade Pancake tasted mediocre as if eating a thin fried piece of bread. It seems ridiculous to charge an extra $3 for the sauce that was presented in the photo. The sauce was also mediocre.

I also ordered the Laksa which the waitress had forgotten so I cancelled that dish after tasting the first two.

The ambience was cosy and the waiting staff were friendly enough however the dishes i have tried were quite disappointing.

1. it took one single bowl of noodle for half hour cooking time while only about 7 to 8 customers during lunch time
2. asked for take away and the staff was soooooooo slow to pack the noodles.
3. the taste is really below the average.

Lucky Chens is located inside of the Bankstown sports club. There is ample parking within the vicinity. The food here was very average and I would be content with coming here again instead of driving further up to Ashfield if I was craving dumplings. Duck pancake was very oily so I wouldn't recommend it. The bill came to a total of $116 between 3 people which is reasonable. The ambience was relaxing. Customer service was satisfactory but it could be improved.
A great place for northern Chinese style noodles in Bankstown. We always go back for the seafood and spinach noodle soup. It's very light and the seafood is always cooked perfectly. We also love the wontons and the unique Peking duck pancakes. I love to watch them make the noodles from scratch in the kitchen and it is always cooked to the perfect firmness. Definitely a nice place for a casual dinner with family or friends in winter.

Came here late on a Friday night after watching a live show at sporties. For a restaurant with great decor attempting to reflect the oriental roots of its cuisine the food was far from perfect. First off the marianted jelly was bland and lacked flavour then the Xiao Long bao skin was too then as everytime I attempted to pick one up it broke and the internal broth was seap out. The brisket noodles were okay, nothing special. The prices are slightly higher here but that's understandable as it inside Bankstown sports club however the execution in food just wasn't there for me.

Not bad at all for a "Westie" at all, it's good to know there's decent dumpling offerings without having to always make the trek to the city. The food was served pretty quick with a reasonable price tag

Lucky Cheng's is conveniently located within Bankstown sports club and offers a variety of dumplings , soup and noodles.

We ordered spicy beef brisket noodles, steamed dumplings and potstickers. Everything was reasonably tasty but the noodles were very soft and slightly overlooked. Pricing was reasonable and staff were lovely and efficient.

They have a ramp entrance and highchairs thought the sports club parking is a challenge with a pram. It is however under cover and free for lunch on weekdays .

Watching the talented Chefs make noodles from scratch is an event in itself. The heart and soul you get in each bowl is what takes it to a whole new level!

From the Wonton Noodle soup, to the shredded tofu with japanese seaweed, to the freshly made dumplings to the Spinach noodles with mushroom, the taste of Asian flavor is matched ugreat friendly service.
Little Miss Hungry
Nice dumplings and wonton soup. The handmade noodles are fresh and delicious...you can see the chefs making them. Traditional and reasonably priced. Great service. The only negative is there is only really one dessert option.

A great restaurant, with a Chinatown street feel by design. Serving northern style Chinese cuisine, with fresh hand made noodles and dumplings. Be entertained while you wait for your food, by the spectacle of the talented chefs making noodles fresh, right in front of you.
We started the meal with light crisp roti, I love roti. We also had the peking duck pancakes, another winner. They have improved on your standard duck pancakes by wrapping the peking duck in a crisp roti type pancake. Of course we had noodles and dumplings. Seriously who doesn't like noodles and dumplings and what better way to enjoy them than freshly made. We had the Cheng made wonton noodle soup with delicate flavours, the dumplings had good flavour. We also had shallot and mushroom with green hand made noodles. This dish was a little lacking in flavour, adding some sriracha and soy sauce gave it the kick it needed. But again fresh made noodles, delish.
Worth dropping into this restaurant to watch the noodles being made fresh. Even better; grab a seat and order a serve.
Thanks Bankstown Sports, Luck Chengs and Zomato it was great to see the chefs in action, making noodles on the spot. Located inside Bankstown sportsclub. I love how you can watch the handmade noodles being rolled out. The food here is super fresh with beautiful flavours. I absolutely loved the shredded Peking duck pancakes and the handmade noodle soup.

We really enjoyed the noodle dishes and dumplings. Perhaps more of a lunch place than a special-anniversary-place but my wife didn't complain.

Ordered a takeaway of handmade noodlesoup with Asian greens and tofu. Surprisingly tasty and decent amount of vegetables! I struggle to digest white noodles so had abit of indigestion afterwards but I do recommend this eatery inside the Bankstown Sports if you're after Chinese food. The layout of the eatery allows customers to view the open kitchen from the seating area, that's confidence!

BiteMe.
They make your noodles fresh to order!!!

Our waitress was great. When it was time for the chefs to make our fresh noodles our waitress called us over to the viewing area and talked us through the noodle making process. It was a great experience.

I also noticed other patrons children were given a piece of noodle dough to play with. This was very thoughtful and a great touch to the overall experience.

I have had much better xiao long bao and dumplings. I'd definitely stick to the noodle dishes, overall the food was fresh and flavorful.

I had a wonderful lunch on Thursday the 18th, it was the shredded duck mixed with chives and hand made noodles and it was delicious, but I think it should of had a bit more shredded duck.

Lucky Chengs make all their noodles fresh and in full view of diners so you know it is going to be good. We got the steamed dim sim, Xiao Long Bao dumplings and boneless duck noodle soup with Asian greens. Delicious and fresh. Only criticism is the service. Dim sim and dumplings came out quite late and my soup came out in less than 5 mins whilst my dining companions who chose different soups, came out quite late. I was almost finished mine by time theirs came out which is not ideal when dining in groups. Better organisation to serve food together, I would prefer to wait 15 mins and everyone eat together. Would go back though.
