Review Banh Cuon Kim Thanh - Bankstown

They do fresh bánh cuốn on site so the steam rice roll is soft. The fish sauce came plain and you need to add chilli, their chilli is very hot. The cháo lòng is yummy, if you are not into intestine or organ may be don't order this. It is one of the better one that I have tried. this alley have lots of vietnamese specialty for reasonable price. But some places have limited seating!

The owner was super lovely and friendly. Everytime I visit Sydney, I have their Banh Cuon. Havent found a beter place for Banh Cuon. Their Banh Cuon is fresh made and tastes so good.

We had the banh cuon special and banh khot, both were fantastic and I would highly recommend them. For those more adventurous, we also had the chao long, which was also great, but as this contains innards, may not be to everyone's tastes.

Great tasty simple food! I live close by and thought wow I’d give this place a try as they specialise in rice rolls. Usually will go to cabra for rice rolls but as it is closer to come I gave it a try. The rolls are delicious, the owner should be proud!!

Tried 3 dishes. 2 were great, 1 was horrible. Avoid the deep fried dish that looks like shallow saucers. It had no taste itself, then covered by oil. Meaning you taste nothing but oil slick. The other two were good and tasted authentic, even the thicker deep friend one (refer to posted photos). Worth visiting just avoid the wrong dish.

Friendly and welcoming this place is a family buisness making the little known Bahn Cuon from Vietnam. Hot folded rice noodles are filled with minced pork or vegetables.

The best of Bankstown isn't always on the street fronts. Sometimes you need to venture in a narrow mall, and there you'd find a place like Banh Cuon Kim Thanh. They specialise in the finest of steamed rice rolls with a delicious steamed or mince filling. We had the mini savoury pancakes as well, which was a tasty treat. The locals seem to know this place exists and arrive promptly at lunch. The owner is friendly and the chairs and tables are clean. I'd recommend this place without exception.

Small eatery off the main street. Love the assorted nanh khot. They also do really good banh cuon. I've come here on weekdays. Plenty of tables and chairs. Not a long wait for food.

Very delicious rice rolls.
The mince steam rice rolls are definitely a must order. I would stay away from the grilled pork rice rolls are they were big and dry, lacking in flavours.

My favourite place in Bankstown! Always come here when in the area and there is a good reason for that. Dishes served here are pretty rare in Sydney especially when they are also made in house. The banh cuon is made to order so it may take a little time. My go-to dish is the one that has a bit of everything, that is, the banh cuon dac biet.

The name of the place is actually named "Banh Cuon Kim Thanh" this place is so famous that even Vietnamese Celebrity comes from Vietnam actually visit this place. The food seems basic but it is what it is .... Rice noodles with toppings and fish sauce, either meat filled or plain it's like eating steamed rice noodles.

I've been wanting to come here and try their banh cuon as they make it fresh to order, but I found the experience to be very average.

I had the banh cuon nhan thit with the mince and wood ear fungus. Overall it was not bad but the seasoning of the filling and their nuoc mam dipping sauce didn't leave me wanting more.

I'm glad I've tried this restaurant but I wouldn't go out of my way to come again. I feel there's other restaurants which offer similar quality, but a larger variety of dishes, for similar price.

I used to come here quite often, back when they had the original menu, which included fresh summer rolls, but once they took the summer rolls off their menu, I stopped eating here as much. Recently however, I started craving their food again and went back a few times to try their new menu.

This particular time I went, I ordered their fried steamed rice cakes with egg and mince meat, banh cuon (steamed rice rolls) with egg and mince, and banh khot (mini savoury pancakes) with shrimp. I love rice cakes and all things rice cake, so for me, I absolutely love the fried steamed rice cakes; they're crispy and crunchy around the edges, while remaining soft and chewy inside. The fillings are delicious, and plentiful, although I would love some more pickled vegetables and cucumber on the side to give it a little more freshness, and help make the dish feel a little lighter.

The banh cuon was delicious too, soft and tasty, without being soggy or anything. Personally I prefer this one with the egg over the regular one with just mince, although the regular one is served with cha lua, which is a Vietnamese pork sausage, but the egg banh cuon is served with just some shredded lettuce, shredded cucumber, mint, and bean sprouts. However, I'm not a big fan of cha, so I don't mind this.

Originally, when I used to come here often, their banh khot with prawns was one of my favourite dishes, but recently going back again, I've discovered that it's changed a bit and I no longer love it as much. For starters, they used to use full size prawns in their banh khot, but now they just use the smaller shrimp variety. They also used to give a lot more lettuce (and larger leaves of lettuce), mint, cucumber, and other leafy sides along with the banh khot to wrap it and eat with it, but now they've halved the amount of lettuce, the leaves are not as big, and there's hardly any mint leaves or shredded cucumber, and no leafy sides of any other kind. The banh khot itself is also much more oily, and sits rather heavy in the stomach, and it's not cooked as well either, with the centre still being a little raw.

Service is quite friendly still, they don't talk much but they're polite and all smiles. The food here is also quite filling, even though the dishes may not quite look it, but you will definitely not walk away hungry. I usually pay about $30-$40 for my meals here, so not the cheapest for Vietnamese food in the area, but it's something different to your usual Vietnamese places.

I'm a regular here, normally get the standard banh cuon Nhan thit for $12. The food reminds me of what I'll get at my granny's house. Sometimes the cutlery can be abit dirty, true Vietnamese experience 😂
Does My Bomb Look Big In This
At the end of a narrow arcade running off Chapel Street in the vicinity of Saigon Place, you’ll find Bánh Cuốn Kim Thành. This tiny eatery makes the best slippery rice noodles I’ve ever eaten. Bánh cuốn, are a North Vietnamese dish made by steaming a lightly fermented rice batter on cloth stretched over boiling water. This process results in see-through, crepe-like sheets of rice noodle, which are eaten in a variety of ways, including at breakfast. As first time visitors we show a bit of indecision even with the pleasantly small menu. Warm, friendly staff notice immediately, and steer us towards the pork mince and wood ear mushroom stuffed rolls called Bánh Cuốn Nhân Chay ($11.50).In Central Vietnam, Bánh Cuốn Tôm Chấy ($12) are the go-to version; with bright orange ground dried shrimp sprinkled over the flexible noodle sheets before they’re shaped into rolls. They’re earthy and light, and a good choice from this small menu

Love the Banh Cuon here! Great little place in Bankstown to try out! It's a bit hidden but once you find this place, the food is great. Anyone who loves trying Vietnamese food should absolutely try this classic Northern Vietnamese dish.

Forget about toast and cereal. In Vietnam, breakfast is all about banh cuon for breakfast, slippery rice noodles served with slices of chả lụa Vietnamese pork sausage, bean sprouts, cucumber and shredded lettuce. The noodles can be rolled with or without meat fillings, but they’re always drowned in lashings of nuoc cham, Vietnam’s national dipping sauce which is made from fish sauce, sugar, garlic and chilli. Banh cuon is a dish that originally hails from northern Vietnam, but happily you’ll only have to travel to Bankstown to get your fill. After fifteen years of supplying catering orders only, Kim Thanh and her family have finally set up a permanent eatery in an arcade off Chapel Road. Banh cuon nhan thit meat steamed rice rolls $11.50 There are only seven menu items at this bright and cheerful restaurant... and five of those are banh cuon. It’s one of the few places in Sydney you’ll be able to try these fresh off the steamer, which makes a massive difference. The rolled up noodles – made from a fermented rice batter – are incredibly soft and silky. Purists will choose the plain version where the noodles come garnished with fried eschalots, but most people prefer them wrapped around a filling of minced pork and finely chopped wood-ear mushrooms . Banh cuon nhan chay vegan steamed rice rolls $11.50 Vegans don’t miss out, either . A banh cuon filled with tofu and wood-ear mushroom comes with a vegan version of the pork sausage. The nuoc cham fish sauce can be swapped out for a vegan alternative, too. Banh cuon tom chay dried shrimp steamed rice rolls $12 They do a couple of other varieties, like tiny dried shrimp and grilled pork. Banh cuon thit nuong grilled pork steamed rice rolls $11 The grilled pork is a surprise hit, wrapped up like a summer roll with a thick peanut dipping sauce on the side. And they still do a roaring trade in catering, wi
