Review Fujiyama Japanese Cuisine - Bankstown

I cant recommend this hidden little gem highly enough. It has been many years since I've had an opportunity to return to this restaurant and I was not disappointed. Now run by the family's two siblings, the service was amazing, food was piping hot, chef was very professional, friendly and entertaining when preparing and presenting the food. The chef and waitresses made the whole experience a little more relaxed and homely like. Honestly, nothing's changed with the service, food and overall experience. As I said, can't recommend this place highly enough and support your locals.

lovely place to eat. celebrated a birthday here and the chef's and service was great. had a group of 14 and got the basic set. don't usually eat seafood but the prawns and fish were delicious. I would definitely recommend. also don't wear white 🤣

It was delicious and entertaining! It was sad that the chef was coughing a little which made my mother’s birthday dinner a little less special.

My family and I have been visiting Teppanyaki Asahi for nearly 15 years and always have the most amazing time. The chefs and staff are so friendly and happily cater to our needs every time!! We always come for special occasions and highly recommend them for a fun time and delicious food. We are always so impressed with the food and service and leave with so many memories. Definitely our go to restaurant!!!

A fantastic, funny night. This is definitely one of the best Teppanyaki restaurants I have been to. We were there in a party of 17 and we were seated where we could all enjoy each others company and be apart of each others fun of food catching and food wearing. Whilst the fun of the interactive involvement was fantastic the food was delicious and flavoursome and cooked just right. Do not be fooled by the lack lustre street front as once inside this restaurant is sure to please and leave you with a memory of a great night of food and fun.

Had the most amazing experience here on Mother's Day! The food was delicious, the atmosphere was so alive and fun, but the best part was how friendly, warm and accommodating all the staff were. A guaranteed great night out here with family or friends.

Asahi was a pleasant surprise ; we've expected a nice place and instead got a fantastic one with lovely people great presentation, personal service smiles everywhere and very child friendly in addition to fantastic show. The whole family loved it. Even their toilets were nice! Couldn't find anything to fault! Will be going again for sure.

Very disappointed, I was so excited to have a halal Japanese place to eat! I have family visiting from overseas and suggested this place to try, I'm so embarrassed! The soup my husband and I had was bland, the crab claws used seafood extender instead of real crab, the prawn dish was ok except the mayonnaise that I think was more sour cream, and the California roll tasted weird and again an unusual Mayo underneath! We left half our food behind, and the prices were over the top given the poor quality! The only plus side was a friendly waitress!

Best food ever. Great service. We had for Entree Japanese fries, panko crumbed prawns and potato croquettes. For the main we had chicken teriyaki rice bowl, tofu teriyaki rice bowl and chicken karaage rice bowl. Dessert green tea icecream with red bean.

Great Japanese food, we really enjoyed the chicken ramen and the beef udon ! FYI if you order the ramune lemonade make sure you stand away from when you open it because it sprays!

Great food! I've been to many Japanese restaurants in Sydney and this is one of the best! First halal Japanese, mashallah, may they have success in their business!

The food always hits the spot! I suggest coming here on an empty stomach just so you can try everything lol Also good portions! The chicken teryaki bowl, katsu curry, and and the agedashi tofu are stars in the menu. Very welcoming staff, good service and nice ambience. Makes dining pleasant. Will be back inshallah when in need of an authentic japanese hit.

Very very bad service. I’ve called this place many times before to order food and they never ever answer the phone. I had called them once’s before 21 times and never did they answer. I recommend this place to be shut down. And I will report what has happen to NSW government

Average japenese. Its been inconsistent and they have average choices. Always takes forever for delivery too. Tonight they forgot our request for extra sauce on the chicken teriyaki bowls. Not happy.

Atmosphere is nice and food is pretty average. I liked their deep fried banana dessert but their sushi and hot plate ramen wasn't very memorable.

The service is surprisingly fast when you order and drinks come right away. I came here only for the sushi so I'm only rating that. It's amazing. But there are some rolls that are huge and awesome (Caterpillar Roll). It's quiet, relaxing and had a Japanese feel. So, I'm giving this a 4.5

The food was ok disappointed in the portion size though , spent $30 for two teriyaki rice bowls and each had about 4 pieces of meat couldn't even see the cabbage or spring onion and when requested extra mayo for each bowl we got one container to split the mayo between both bowls. Wouldn't recommend this place if your hungry or would like to get your monies worth .

Menulog Order:
I was curious to see how their Ramen Burger (with extra beefpatty, salad, sesame dressing, melted cheese and green onions ) would turn out during transit from the Bankstown store to the Hume Highway end of Bass Hill. Takoyaki balls satisfied a craving and the Japanese infused Karage bao was a nice change.

Nice restaurant with attentive customer service serving halal Japanese cuisine. Street parking is easy and is very popular with locals. I highly recommend the caterpillar roll.

Regarding portions sizes for main meals and quality, food is decent here. Unfortunately the wait and/or systematic procedures were something else.

After our order, a table was sat down and received all their orders long before any entree of ours did which I found odd and left to pay the bill by the time our table water came.

Now to the good points:
Takoyaki: average tasting though was served warm-hot which was perfect as I despise boiling hot foods :(

Prawn tempura: yummy crunchy Pablo crumbs!

30minute extra wait for main meals:
Chicken Karage on rice was superb. Perfect amount of cooking and marinades on the chicken. Generous amounts as well as a mountain heap of rice. The salad was streaked cabbage and unfortunately the mayo tasted expired/unpleasant. Though the chicken itself was very tasty!

Beef using noodles: beef was succulent with its marinade though iron broth was very diluted. Loved the amount of Green bean and carrots that were in the soup.

Fried ice cream was disappointing. The battered exterior was soft and would be mushy towards the bottom where a pool of melted ice cream gathered. Flavour of the batter was average, texture was not ideal as it was soft though the vanilla ice cream would have been superb alone.

I am slightly concerned that the wait staff were not trained properly as 2-3 times a dish for a different table was delivered to our table, they also kept checking the table numbers and we had to ask for table water three times. Was strange with those requests, whether or not they were new, it didn't quite help with the overall dining experience.

If you're okay to wait and are at peace with yourself, this place can offer you a tasteful meal.

A friend of mine took me for dinner at this place praising about the food here. This is the first time I am trying Japanese cuisine apart from there sushi. So I wasn't too sure how it will turn out.

We ordered the starters prawn dumplings ( I can't remember what they called it on there menu) crisp from one side and plain from the other was good .

The chips on the side topped with there traditional sauce went on very well. Well cooked and saucy with mayonnaise. The main course was salmon teriyaki with rice which was really a killer with small raw ginger and chilli bits on the side was just delicious. Overall the food was well cooked and delicious.

The waiting time though was quite a bit about 20 mins after I ordered the food. The staff there didn't looked much interested in talking to people, neither did they had much idea about Japanese food. The environment is cosy there. I think they haven't got much competition around this area as they are the only one halal around here.

Ate here for dinner after work today and I wasn't overly impressed. The idea of hot plate ramen was inviting but the end product was too saucy and salty, I couldnt finish the meal myself as it got quite sickening. My partner on the other hand said his teriyaki chicken rice bowl was nice enough he would eat it again but the rice to meat ratio required more rice.
The atmosphere was dull and super quiet, no ambient music or anything. Well at least everything was quiet until a bunch of families came in with their screaming kids.
Service on the other hand was friendly and attentive.

Booked here for dinner. When we arrived (on time), there was no one at the front to great us. We had to stand around for two minutes. We got seated at a booth at the back of the restaurant next to the kitchen. The place had a funky smell to it. It was very hard for us to get the attention of the waitress. I had to get up and get her more than once.

The food took forever to come. There were only three other couples in the restaurant. The food was average. The agadashi tofu was not silky. The tofu tasted lumpy and the stock was bland. The teriyaki chicken was average. The karaage chicken did not have much batter on it and tasted half steamed. When we asked for the bill, the waitress gave it to us and disappeared. We had to wait around for a staff member to come out from the kitchen to let us pay and leave.

Either they were low staffed in the kitchen and needed the waitress to double up as a kitchen hand. Or the waitress was content to leave patrons without a staff member in the dining room.

All in all, a very average meal with below average wait staff and above average wait time.

Best teriyaki chicken and karaage rice bowl in Sydney! the chicken very crispy and the way they marinade it like master chef. The sushi and soups are also great and everything is affordable. Took my boyfriend there and he loved it. the service was great and the staff were really friendly. i thought that it was def value for money. i would recomend this place to other people. just a warning though this place can get really packed, make a reservation if you come here night time. happy eating.
