Review Chef’s Dynasty - Bankstown

They don’t have the buffet anymore. Food wise it’s to a good standard, they had these spring rolls wrapped in rice noodles which was different but I prefer the fried dough. Lunch on a weekday was quiet

Came in for yumcha on a Saturday morning. We had a large group and we were served quickly but I think that might be due to my wife's uncle knowing the owner. Normally we have to wait ages for a cart to come by but today was fine. Food tasted fresh today, chicken feet was the highlight.

Yum cha items weren't too bad. Not many people at yum cha on a weekday post covid. Minimal staff working which is understandable in these times but it took way too long to order another soft drink and it was pretty hot in the restaurant likely because they just opened and needed time for the air con to cool the room down.
Andrew Phan
Food was decent and ambiance is nice. The staff are also quite friendly but variety was low. The same carts kept coming around with the same foods.

Really good yum cha, service is fast and friendly, even when we went with two young kids the staff were very welcoming. Not the cheapest, but the food is good. Especially loved their Taro Sago dessert, which we have never seen at other yum cha restaurants.

When they started the all you can yumcha and night it was awesome, but now its gone down hill and the options are not great anymore and it takes ages to get the food out. Bring back the proper yumcha.

The location was ambiguous and was hard to locate. The customer service was good *at first* with their welcoming greetings, however, everything started to go down hill after that. Keep in mind that this was during 1pm and there were literally NO customers around (surprising, huh). The food was not good, in fact they had to make our desired basic yum cha dishes on the go. However, I do appreciate their efforts of catering to our needs. It was just unfortunate with the let down of the food. The chicken feet had a very unpleasant stench (it was NOT fresh and tasted horrible) *please DO NOT order it*. Although the egg tart was a step up... Additionally the lady waitress was standing in front of my table and was staring at us. It made us feel VERY uncomfortable. Later, another lady joined along and they both began to gossip. It would be great to see a revamp of the food, however we won't be visiting back any time soon. Although I do appreciate their generosity but improvements really needs to be in their attention.

Tried the yum cha here for the third time, first time was good, the second time was horrible, and the third time was excellent. I think that the food has become better over time. The hargao was so fresh, one of the best I’ve had. Service was good but we had to wait for our tea to be refilled. The servers are friendly . The price was good too.

Good buffet at a fair price. Food items are hit and miss but there is a good range. Ask for Chinese tea for free. Is not very crowded on weekday nights.

Me and the misso rocked up at 8pm saturday night the place wasn't busy at all so not ideal but still went in anyway to give it a try

Buffet most of the food was empty or cold. Fried rice had been sitting there for hours took a bite of it and it was hard like rock.
Ran out of spring rolls, ran out of crispy chicken.. no good at all.Dumplings were made to order and were good which is the reason i am not giving it a 1

Won't be back.

Make sure you come here with an empty stomach as you’ll be faced with a plethora of options! Food is the standard dim sum dishes, you have an option of wok fried dishes and what I liked most were the endless dessert options they had on offer- mango pancake, tofu, fried sesame dessert, sago, fruit and mango pudding.
Tim Li
Haven’t been back for a while, and things have changed quite a bit.

I’m happy it’s still around; there just isn’t much options when you have an evening craving for YumCha.

This place ticks the boxes and has great variety.
A standardised menu is available for you to choose from. 37 items available.

Unfortunately, my favourite items such as the durian puff pastry and mango pancake weren’t available.

On the plus side their volcano custard buns were on the menu.

Service was excellent (although admittedly quiet on a Tuesday) and they also were awesome enough to get me some durian pastry.

TLDR; Place delivers value for money and satisfies a yumcha craving in the evening unlike any other.

Chefs Dynasty all you can eat buffet was okay that day! Staff were attentive when needed. Prawn dumplings and Chicken feet are always my two go to !!

WOW such a wide variety.

Taste = equivalent to the famous Vihn Phat in Cabra 💕

Got the $39 (incl seafood) dinner all you can eat, worth it if you’re starving or celebrating an occasion. You’ll definitely eat your moneys worth.

The ambience of the place is clean, open, spacious and modern. The staff are friendly and there’s a carpark underneath. Worth a try 👍🏻

Favs:
✨all the yum cha options
✨Mango pancake
✨Pipi in XO sauce
✨sweet corn soup
✨sweet ass watermelon

Place look really nice and open unlike other yumcha place looks so old and stuffy. Service was quick but the foods was the one that let us down. Every food I bite is alway bland and lack of flavours which was disappointed.
Sarah&Gluttony
Massive shout out to whoever thought of an all you can eat Yum Cha.
Their menu ranges from the generic dumplings, chicken feet, and mango pancakes. To hot chips and fried chicken.
Picturesque Food
Decided to give this all you can eat Yum Cha dinner place in Little Saigon a try. The price inflated the last time I saw it advertised to $39 a head which is quite pricey when you think about how much you pay here with a few people to how much you pay at an actual yum cha restaurant. There is a wide enough selection of yum cha steamed food, and other typical Chinese additions on the side such as fried rice. The food dishes were surprisingly decent.
The desserts weren’t too great. The mango pancake lacked mango and the mango pudding was terrible.
The price really isn’t worth it, but I guess if you’re craving some yum cha for dinner...why not.
Lily
Went in for the buffet at night, get in early if without booking as it fills up quickly. Food kept running out during peak meal time especially the dessert section with mango pancakes and mango pudding being very popular but not enough to supply the demand.

Yumcha items had a variety of around 15 Steamed dishes (which could've been labelled), 10 fried dishes, and a variety of hot dishes. Fresh prawns were a good addition to the menu. Quality of food is generally good with some steamed items being a miss.

Staff behind food counters were awkward at times when it was confusing if they served the food or we just take it ourselves. Payment for the meal was collected midway where staff comes around with the bill to your table. Drinks are put on a separate bill which staff again brings over (we ordered drinks twice so we had 3 bills in total - it might be more efficient to pay for everything at once?)

After reading a ton of disappointing reviews about this place I felt rather weary but decided to give it a chance anyway. I was with a party of eight on a Saturday night, we had previously made a booking and were promptly seated at our allotted time.

The selection was a lot larger than I thought but the quality and taste were very hit or miss. The stand outs were prawn hargow, dim sims and mango pancakes. It felt as though most dishes were cooked fresh as opposed to some of the other reviews I've read, perhaps maybe because it was a busy night and the food was being replenished frequently.

Be mindful of when you order drinks and ask for your receipts at all times. Staff will ask you to pay later and approach you for payment at random times throughout your stay.

Overall it was an okay experience, we definitely ate our money's worth. I'd recommend for everyone to try this place at least once and decide for yourselves. Personally would not come running back any time soon but it's nowhere near as bad as some of the reviews have made it out to be.

We came in as a big group and as we were leaving , we found that we were charged for 8 drinks even though we only received 5 cans of coke. They proceeded to accuse us of lying even though you can clearly see only 5 cans on the table which wasnt cleared. They only offered to refund the sparkling water, which we also didnt order. Worst experience ever.

This place has got to be he most frustrating place I have ever been to. I would say terrible service, if there had been service. I would say terrible variety of food, if there had been a variety of food. Waste of money.

All you can eat yum cha after 5 pm everyday for $35, what’s not to love about it? Unlike other all you can eat yum cha location, chef dynasty includes a wide selection of yum cha dishes which is great!!!
Saharsh.nagisetty
Food was just par. Some of them were cold and oily. Waitresses and the hostess can not communicate properly in English. Waste of money.
Not returning!

DO NOT EAT HERE!! Ate here for all you can eat Yum cha for dinner. The food you could tell was old and prepared way earlier on the day. Both my partner and I got food poisoning!
Tony Tran
Went for the $35 all you can eat . Was definitely not worth it . No variety of food was available . Also all the dishes were old and cold. Mustve been prepared from earlier in the day . Felt the effects afterwards with me and my gf experiencing food poisoning.
Love Food!
Loved that this place has yum cha in the evenings and all you can eat too! Really enjoyed the flavoursome food! Service was excellent. Staff took real care in serving up the food. Was clean even though the decor was simple.
The best part was that the food trolleys kept coming so you wont be starving like most busy yum cha places.
Plenty of free underground parking.
Food Cop
Went for yum cha, and was greeted by an unhappy front of house lady. What is it with yum cha people?I always receive terrible service, even downright rudeness. Food is average.

All you can eat Yum Cha! What's not to love about that? Seriously, I couldn't stop saying all you can eat. I'm going to be honest.... average Yum Cha, nothing too special about it. Lots of food comes out quickly but nothing that really stood out in flavour. All the usual bites that you would find at any other Yum Cha. The chicken feet which is usually my absolute favourite wasn't the best, not much meat and the flavour was dull.
For more Vlogs check out my YouTube channel - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC8CQlEE62GLokH8jGtAEajg
For more blogs check out my Instagram -
https://www.instagram.com/cutiefoodie_au/

I like this place. Finally there is a good yum cha all you can eat at night! Service is good considering they're working 100 miles per hour and food is good. 35 dollars all you can eat daily after 5.3pm.

Place looks nice too.

Came here for Yumcha buffet dinner with my boyfriend and younger brother. Total price is $85 for 3 people. Price is decent however the staff were not friendly and the lady wearing black shirts just ignored us when we tried to order food. Ambience is strange, we came in on a Tuesday night with only one other table being occupied in the whole restaurant. Waiters were standing around idly while there wasn't any food bringing brought around. Was extremely unsatisfactory. Regret going to an "all you can eat" when there was no variety. Only positive note is that seating and tables looked clean.
The Next Rush
Originally lured in by the $35 all you eat yum cha (which I learned later) is only available from 5pm. It's a great and varied selection. The staff in the morning quite friendlier than expecting and it's a large space that caters to big groups and functions. Worth a try as Chinese and Yum Cha are rare finds out this way....
Kelly
All you can eat yumcha $35pp. Yum!! I walked through the doors and expected this place to be average. Most places with the all you can eat concept never satisfies me. The four of us came in at 9pm to see that most people have finished eating by now. That meant that we had 5 people serving us at once. Food was quite good and the chicken feet didn't disappoint. Staff were helpful however the lady kept lingering around our table which was a little unsettling. Aside from this, I do recommend.
Asian Food Ninja
All you can eat ninja!!

Came here for the $35pp all you can eat YUMCHA! Only available for dinner, its on 7 nights a week. Great deal if you are a big eater .. Not a large selection but ample for the normal yumcha menu.

Heaps of space and heaps of parking, located inside Little saigon Plaza.

Well worth the money, avoid the carbs to fit more food hahahaa

Until next time .... Keep eating!!
Michael Truong
Came in for yum cha
Horrible service
Food was bar average
Not much variety
Clean environment though
Way too overpriced
Would not come again
Not recommended as there are other better options in the same building.
Msg Makes Me Angry
To try authentic Chinese food we thought we'd make a day trip out to the area where the Chinese are prominent. Tried the yumcha for lunch. My gf and I are still feeling the effects the day after. The food tasted great going in but I believe both of us felt the effects of mild food poisoning. Stomach cramps, cold sweat, hot and cold fever... I guess we were not used to the quality of food... No more day trips.
Little Miss Hungry
I've been here twice, once for yum Cha and once for dinner. Nice decor and clean. The prices are a little dear but still reasonable as the good is pretty nice.

Chef's Dynasty is one of the better (even best?) Yum Cha's we've been to. Their food isn't too oily and well presented in comparison to other places. We generally liked most of the dishes and will definitely come back soon!
Upon our second visit here we came for dinner. Again, food was well received and presented and contributed to the overall pleasant dining experience.
Tim R
We planned to go here for dinner but decided to go to Chef's Gallery restaurant instead... we chose not to support a restaurant who actively promotes Shark Fin soup on their menu. The food was great downstairs at Chef's Gallery

Delicious dim sum!!!!! Went there with mum and a family friend as I had one of those cravings; we ordered the usual no brainer ( har kow, siu mai etc) and everything's fresh.

As we came earlier in the morning on the Queens Birthday, the line started later than usual. Service is pretty good, the ladies would come pretty often with the carts of steaming goodness)

Great value for money; for the items u see on the photos and pu er tea; all came to $52. Will be back again, hopefully with a bigger crowd next time so we can try more items.

Yum cha is a cuisine that I crave from time to time, but then am satisfied for the next year once I have it. The last time I went out for yum cha was last year, meaning it was about time to go again so when my parents suggested that we check out a new local yum cha place, I happily agreed. We arrived on a Saturday morning and were seated immediately. The restaurant also doubles as a function venue so it is very spacious.

In typical yum cha style, trolleys of food were wheeled by our table and we pointed and picked the dishes that we wanted to eat. Some dishes we chose were yum cha classics that we always order, others were foreign dishes that we hadn't tried before.

In the end, the classics won the day. The dim sims and dumplings were tastier than the deep-fried seafood that we ordered. Perhaps it was due to the oil factor (that is, the lack thereof) or our greater familiarity with the dumplings, but we all preferred the steamed food and easily finished them off. The deep-fried food wasn't moreish at all, despite being crunchy and small in size - usually perfect snacking morsel properties.

We ordered about 7-8 dishes in total between the four of us and it came to a fairly modest price. Overall, Chef's Dynasty fills an obvious void in Bankstown's dining scene but it is more or less your average yum cha restaurant.

We went in the peak yum cha hours and although the staff was really friendly but the food was expensive and the service was poor. There weren't enough cups/plates and the cleaning wasn't being done fast enough so we ended up with dirty plates and cups. We were in a spot by the kitchen and it took ages before someone came around with food so we spent ten twenty minutes with nothing to eat. It wasn't like this the first time we went (service was not appalling at all) so I'm averaging it out to get a three.

Was told the lobster cost $106 per kilo instead they charged us $160 per kilo. With that we ordered honey king prawns and they bought out a plated consisting of 8 prawns in it. Spring rolls avoid, and the Mongolian lamb was all onion ( I called it Mongolian onion) The bill came to $500.00. Absolutely appalling! We complained and they shrugged us off. They will rob you!!!The quantity of food was beyond poor for the amount of money they charged and the taste was beyond average. The service was very very slow even though they weren't busy. Its not worth going there. Had to do a McDonalds run an hour later.

Tonight me and my old man decided to try out the new modern Chinese restaurant in bankstown.

Service was excellent with friendly staff, while the food was quick to come out once ordered. The presentation of the food was sublime and two dishes was just enough for two hungry men : )

Now let's get down to business shall we... The taste of the food was delicious and I will gladly come back. Though my only complaint for this place, would be the price of these dishes. Dinner cost $60 for two people.. Though if you come on Tuesday nights, they have a 30% discount off your bill! Now that's value 😋 they have specials on every weekday, so be sure to ask what's on special that day. Tonight was lobster and crab, but for two people it's not enjoyable in my opinion, you need 4+ so you can order other dishes to enjoy.

Overall it's a pretty solid place to go, as good as iron chef 👍🏼

✌🏼️ *** Showtime ***

New Chinese restaurant in Bankstown.

Environment: was a bit loud because half the place had concrete flooring and the other half had carpet (perhaps they were trying a hipster warehouse look?). Otherwise clean and professional.

Very very friendly organized staff.

Food was good. The duck with taro was a strange combination for me. The ribs were nice as always. The rice with scallops and fish roe was a delight.

We went on a Tuesday night and had 30% off the bill! Otherwise it would be on the upper end of price range.

They included complementary simple dessert at the end. Watermelon, oranges, sweet soup with red bean, biscuits.

The environment makes it a family restaurant. Not really a place for a first date.

Went for yum cha on Sunday. Very busy. Food was good. A variety of choice. Hope it will maintain the food standard. The restaurant are understaffed on the day. The trolley sometimes come a bit slow. Overall experience was good. Satisfied with the food.

I went there with family of 10 and its special of 30% off whole bill.
I think value and food are good and acceptable!
Defiantly will come again
Worse part is lack of waiters and they forgot one of our dish. Also no house soup.
Moo Foodie
Today I went to dine here for lunch with my family. We came across our vegetable dish containing traces of a caterpillar. This disgusted us, as we initially had a good impression of the food and restaurant. Will we ever come here again, we now are not too sure. Could also improve on the rocking, unstable table providing us with an uncomfortable dining experience.
Darren Nguyen
Went first for dinner and the food was excellent!Seafood is fresh and all the dishes we ordered was very good. Restaurant looks super nice too.
I also went to have yum cha here with friends over the weekend. There is a lot of variety and dishes available. All the dumplings was also fresh and the Hagow tasted like they had fresh prawns and not frozen which was really good. Will definitely be back many many more times!!!
Kim Nguyen
I've been here for both Yum cha and dinner and thoroughly enjoyed both with my fam. The chicken feet was a bit of a miss for me, but I did enjoy the thousand egg congee, prawn rice noodle, taro puff (?), har gow, and scallop dim sim. The more memorable dishes for dinner would have to be crab with vermicelli, pork chop in plum sauce, pepper fried tofu and amazing amazing sizzling beef with wasabi mayo!!
Kelly
Came to try this place because we knew the dim sim chef from one of our favorite yum cha places now works here. Food is pretty good as expected. But service was ridiculous! Waited ages for the first trolley to come around to get yelled at by the waitress for asking for prawn dumplings. Apparently if she had them she would have told us already. She kept going on and on that we had to ask her to leave but she didn't stop. Service is very slow for a yum cha place, and the staff are incredibly rude!
DroolWorthyWorld
Sadly we weren't impressed by Chef's Dynasty. There was so much hype with it being the biggest Yum Cha restaurant on Sydney but alas, it was not a place worth coming back for. We were shocked to find that a tiny bowl of congee was $9.30. Unreasonable pricing. There are far better spots for Yum Cha such as Zilver and The Eight in Chinatown with much more affordable prices.
