Review Baan Thai Watsonia - Banyule

Spicy
Suprising great cooked food, well cooked and great interior. The music isn't bad, keeping it traditional, slow and not a lot of instrumental music is great. Tip: Make sure kitchen is 100% spotless so customers get a great impression. Otherwise it has an amazing back dining area which will make you feel cozy and the taste of food is great.

Good food, good staff and good environment. Price is reasonable for the food you get and portion sizes are filling. Highly recommend to anyone for any occasion.

Very average and expensive. The pickup order was wrong and the food was very spicey when I asked for none. Also the menu doesn't work on the website. Unfortunately won't be returning.

Seriously great Thai food. Better than most of the food we actually had in thailand

As a keen returner to the restaurant due to a previously great experience albeit it a couple of years previously I was agonisingly disappointed with my Sunday meal. Having made plans with a date who I had invited over for a movie on the premise of a Netflix and chill, with some “awesome Thai i know from round the corner” to set the mood. It’s safe to say the mood was like a tea party in a morgue. It clearly didn’t end well. The food here was terrible and was reminiscent of a chicken tonight sauce and dry chicken rather than the cruisine you’d expect at a decent Thai restaurant. To really rub salt into the wounds the white rice was barely cooked and wasn’t the coconut rice I had ordered. Safe to say I won’t be back as if I want a similar meal I’d just head down to woollies and grab some chicken tonight. At least then I wouldn’t have to have driven her home because she felt a bit crook in the stomach.

This place it a hit and miss, usually the food tastes really nice however the service is below average. Often when ordering that say to pick up later than it's ready, so it has already start to go cold and need to microwave when get home. Once waited 30 minutes total was in the restaurant until they realised then had forgot to tell me it was ready. Also paying $5 for roti bread is sometimes under or over done. Not happy to be served this today, hope standards become more consistant or will find another local.

Very good food, fresh ingredients, correct flavours. Service was a bit inexperienced when the place first opened but is good now. Great to have a stylish and reliable restaurant in Watsonia!

Really good take away. I tried for the first time and I was really impressed :) definitely coming back. I live locally. Also plenty of options for those who do not eat spicy food

Have come here numerous times as its close to my parents. Foods always been really yum & average price range for Thai food. Have found the service a bit slow each time, though they have usually been busy.

A nice little local with an additional room at the back that's not visible from the front.  Food is fresh, good quality and tasty.  Ambience is fine, staff are friendly.   Roti and satay dipping sauce is yum yum yum.  A good midweek option if you feel like eating out.

Love this place! Just a small unpretentious homely restaurant. Well priced, clean and full of flavour. Staff are a bit shy but very friendly. Highly recommend

Drove past last night and decided to stop and give it a go. Glad we did. The staff were friendly and my red curry was delicious. Great little place.

Made a booking for 5 people to sit out the back. Arrived on time and told no booking was made. We were squeezed on to a 4 seat table. Food was overpriced and very bland. Better Thai restaurants in the area.

If you order over the phone the number is wrong for this one. It is the phone number for their watsonia restaurant not rosanna

A friend organized a dinner for a birthday, & we were invited. Upon arrival I asked the waiter if I could pay separately, he checked with the manager & said I could pay for our meals/drinks desperately as he would put them onto a separate tab. At the end when I went to pay, cashier said someone in the group paid the full bill. I told the cashier I haven't got cash to reimburse the person who paid the bill. After an embarrassing & uncomfortable discussion in front of the whole group I got the cashier to charge my card our tab's cost & got him to give the cash to the one who paid. Being unprofessional caused embarrassment. Not happy mate!

Went on a Monday night with a big group so the place was pretty empty so the service was very quick and attentive. <br/>Food was fresh and all of the meals were very large portions! Would go back there next time I'm in the area.

Ate in weeknight. Food just ok and overpriced. You get better quality, tasting Thai food at normal prices elsewhere. Serves are small.

Yum!!. The Banyule area is spoilt for choice when it comes to Thai food. There is a Thai restaurant on either end of Grimshaw St, and one just off it on Plenty Road. Baan Thai is the latest Thai restaurant to pop up in the area. It's not the cheapest, but food wise, it is the best in the area. My personal favourite is the No. 19, the Pad Ga Prow with Beef.
