Review Dome Cafe - Bassendean

Had tea at other Domes before, and they all seem to give out the same amount of tea leaves. However, was disappointed with the amount of tea leaves given to me for my Peppermint tea. Paid $4.50 for some hot water and minuscule amount of tea leaves. Tea tasted more like water than tea unfortunately.

The dome Bassendean is a delightful place and usually very busy but it has a very relaxing atmosphere. Very good staff and amazing food. Highly recommended

I've been here quite a few times - they have loyalty points for coffee - I love the place! The coffee great!!! So good.. better than another well known establishment close by 😉 The coffee is consistently good, which I love! The atmosphere is welcoming and cosy. I LOVE the old train carriage, it's so unique. I LOVE all the comfy chairs and there's so many places to sit. You're never without a cosy nook somewhere and there's options to sit upstairs in the sun or in a booth. Food is nice albeit the servings a little on the smaller side, for the price but I mainly use it for a coffee stop to read or work. Great place 👌🏽

Weird interaction. I ordered scones and asked for extra cream, the lady told me it would cost more & I said I didn’t care and to please add it on. She clarified with me a couple of times because it already comes with cream I said I know that and to please yes charge me extra, I want extra cream. When it came, it came without the extra cream. I told the waitress that I paid for extra cream and just stood there awkwardly looking at my scones & then said ‘we are actually really busy right now’…… What kind of a response is that? So if you’re busy and don’t bring something out it’s just too bad for me even if I paid for it? Very weird thing to say. I would have been happy getting my extra money back or the cream because I’m not paying extra for nothing. She said she would go check because I told her again that I paid for it. 10 minutes passed and she never returned. At that point I realised the lady at the counter didn’t even charge me for it in the first place so I just left. Found the whole thing really weird, it obviously wasn’t the waitress’ fault but why would you just say to a customer that you’re busy if they say part of their order is missing? Honestly a very unusual interaction when it was just a simple mistake that could have been quickly explained and I wouldn’t have cared. Instead it was extremely awkward for everyone for no reason. I definitely won’t go back.

When are they going to do something about this place. Went with a group of 6 the food was less than average. After an hour the last persons dish arrived, by this time everyone else had well and truly finished eating. Thought I would give it another go after a botched meal a year ago, clearly nothing has changed.

Was there for a 60th. Upstairs, has an elevator for the mobility challenged. Lovely atmosphere. Apart from being extremely understaffed, it was a great visit. Only downside is toilets located outside premises, but not too far. Shopping Centre carpark 4hrs limit & is very busy. 17/07/22.

Took half hour to get cold coffee, returned for hot, then toasted ham cheese tomato came with cold chips +cheese and tomato not even half toasted. Took it to manager and she said new staff, gave money back very quickly.

I was so looking forward to trying Dome' new Rueben Sandwich, looks fabulous in the photo on menu! Honestly I nearly threw it back. It had 1 lousy piece of pastrami that covered bread only half. No cheese, no pickles, no sauerkraut! I hot 6 burnt to a crisp onion rings on the side, no pickles on side. It was awful. Bread was toasted on one side only. Whoever is in kitchen needs to follow the menu and have more care & passion about food. My coffee was very nice and after I complained, I did get a refund that I asked for from the manager. I'll go to my normal Dome from now on.

Quite a nice Dome Cafe. Staff are friendly. They execute the traditional menu well. Some of the cakes in the cabinet can be dry. Coffees are good. They sadly don't offer a wide selection of milks. The chai lattes can be quite sickly sweet.

Decent coffee but shocking food as always at dome. Every chain I've been to is always bad food. Could do with better sweetener than the one they have as it just lumps to the bottom of the cup

As with all domes, coffee is good but very very hot. Food is ok and very expensive. Service is stock standard.
Dome need to realise people can't afford their over priced food. I am always happy to pay more if the food it great.
Dome doesn't fit that.
$13 for a bacon and egg roll is simply day light robbery.

The location and inside of this Dome is really nice, upstairs is comfy, but that's all the good to say about it, boring menu, below average food. They close early, would be nice to relax with a nice drink here but they seem to be vacuuming and turn the air con real cold about half an hour before closing time. Want to love this place but the menu is unappealing. Customer service is average too.

Same as any other Dome that I have been to. There's nothing wrong with it it's just that I find it very boring. Not bad to come here for a ice coffee I guess

I like coming here, boyfriend n I always get nice smooth lattes. Service is good n friendly. Steak sandwiches are to die for n chips are always cooked to perfection n not oily at all. PRICES are pretty good compared to your average cafe. They always get repeat business from me as its worth it.

My toddler and I stopped off for a quick late afternoon snack. We ordered a blueberry muffin and toasted ham and cheese sandwich. While the service was quick, the food was revolting. We didn't even eat it. The muffin was very stale therefore very dry and crumbly. Now the toasted ham and cheese. Worst one ever! The bread was this nice thick bread which was only lightly toasted and inside, one tiny piece of ham and a bit of cheese. It only took up half the bread. It also had a horrible fish smell (I could only assume from being on the same cutting board or using the same knife). Overall, I was really disgusted, especially given the price.
I'll be back for drinks but no way will I order any food again

Good atmosphere. Have been for dinner and breakfast a few times and the food & service were good each time. I love the surroundings! There's plenty of space, creating a sense of privacy making dining there a comfortable experience. If you take kids there, keep a close eye on them at the very back of the carriage - I've seen kids using the railing as a jungle gym and it's quite a drop if they fall. The carriage is gorgeously presented - well done!

Lovely :). Beautiful building with lovely views from the top floor & staff were friendly. Coffee was very good despite getting our orders wrong initially. Staff was apologetic. Only criticism is that they shouldn't be too eager to take our plates & coffees away. Would prefer to be left alone & the plates/cups taken after we leave. Overall, I would still come back :)

Not great. I was impressed with the new dome in appearance but wasnt impressed with the food. I ordered vegetarian big breakfast, the only thing I liked on the plate was the tinned baked beans.
My partner got the normal big breakfast and he wasnt happy with anything about it. My daughter got pancakes which were like I rubber I struggled to cut them for her. Only thing we enjoyed were our drinks. I wish they had put something other than a change restaurant here with better quality food.

Breakfasts were cold and one of our coffee orders was forgotten. I had the vego breakfast and all the water from the spinach had soaked the rest of my breakfast. Roast tomato was cold and basically raw. Bummer. Had high hopes for this new Dome!!

SLOME, rather than dome. I was 1 person, ordering 2 fluffy koalas, 1 squashed frog and a serve of biscotti, take away. I waited 25 minutes for my order and the biscotti came out on a plate. Terrible service.

New restaurant looks incredible. The brand new Dome in the Bassendean Village shopping centre is amazing. There is an old train carriage which is so much fun for the kids, and the upstairs area has amazing views over Bassendean. Coffee is good but varies a little with new staff, and food is good but expect a bit of a wait if it is busy.

Dome Bassendean. Good service - like the GPS-type table locators. And the food was nice, especially enjoyed the salmon eggs-hollandaise.

Love it! The space is immense, well fit out in true 'Dome' style, love the tram, the upstairs and courtyard with views to the hills, the neighbourhood trees and the iconic Bassendean oval, Four of us enjoyed dinner here, good service and nice food. Only thing missing is a license :)

Dome Bassendean has the most beautifully restored train carriage to dine in with views over Bassendean oval, airconditioning and even with luggage! We usually sit in the booth because it's easier for my 2 year old and very comfortable.
