One of the best places in Bayswater to have a nice dining experience. Beautifully presented tasty meals . Fast service friendly staff and good ambiance . Worth to choose this place if you would like to taste the difference.
We ate there for the first time on a Friday night with our infant and toddler. The service was very welcoming and friendly. Atmosphere was inviting even though we were the first patrons there.
We ordered Pad Thai chicken, Pad See Ew with prawns, Massaman curry with beef, two servings each of large steamed rice and roti with peanut sauce. For dessert we ordered banana fritters with ice cream and steamed coconut with ice cream. Mains were delicious, well portioned and NOT sickly sweet as you sometimes get with Thai cuisine. Desserts were good although we were far too full by this stage to pay much attention. So far, this has been the only Thai restaurant that we have been to that serve a good amount of jasmine rice in each serve, making it our meal great value overall.
We did not have to wait for long for our mains (we were the first patrons to order for the night). We had a longer wait for dessert but not unusually long.
Easy to understand why this is a favourite with the locals.
Last Saturday we were craving some Thai and looked up in Zomato to find this place. Unassuming as it seemed in appearance in a quite road but just opposite to the Bayswater Railway Station is a Gem that we have found.
We ordered our food and we were delighted to find one of the best Thai Dishes we’ve ever tasted. The Thai Chilli Basil Rice was amazing. But the Traditional Red Curry was mind blowing. The best we’ve had so far.
The staff were good, and the Chef was really nice to come and have a chat.
We will be back for more.
Happy to have found this place.
Sorry we have no pictures because we couldn’t resist ourself from eating them up. 😅😜
Delicious, fresh and fragrant- plenty of fresh herbs and not too heavy on the chilli- perfect Thai food. The Roti - make sure you order it or you'll never know what you've missed out until now.
Thoroughly enjoyed every single morsel. Thank you! We will return!
Soft shell crab was amazing service was excellent and the restaurant was very fresh and inviting a great discovery we can't wait to come back
True hidden gem of bayswater. It's reasonable price and good quantity of food. Definitely value for money.Tom yum soup perfect for winter nights and delicious green curry and rice. Surely recommended dine out or take away

Authentic Thai. Great staff and the chef Max came out for a chat. Food is fantastic and full of flavour. My mouth is still zinging. Love this place.
Just went here last night after trying to find something to eat with my partner - at first I was a bit hesitant as I'm not a big fan of Thai food. However, this restaurant blew me away. We ordered a mixed entree platter, tom yum soup - with extra chilli - I ordered Thai Green Curry and my partner ordered Basil Fried Rice. The service from the waitress and chef were great, I'm so happy to find a place where it isn't about eating and then paying, they made sure that we liked our meal and were concerned when my partner and I didn't finish the whole main and also the entree - since we didn't eat the prawn spring roll. [Not big fans of prawns]. Appreciated that extra mile. The mains were just .. DELICIOUS! I loved every bit of my Thai Curry and I've never ever seen my partner eat a stir fry rice that fast! I brought the curry to work the next day and I loved it, so did my colleagues. Definitely would love to bring my family here and am planning to!
True to its previous reviews , this is indeed a hidden gem! Fantastic service , good ambience and quality food. The beef in the massaman curry was amazingly tender !
Very good food. Probably one of the best thai places in the area. Once they got my order wrong which was rectified but involved another drive from home and thats why I am giving them a 4.5.
Good food and quiet place. We ordered a Duck Salad, a stir fry, a Tom Yum soup and a fried rice. Overall the taste is good and authentic. Recommend to go.
This place is a little hidden gem. The food is just so fresh and full of flavour. We were happy with everything we ordered: fish cakes, spring rolls, satay skewers, crumbed shrimp and paid Thai chicken. The service was good but they could have brought water more often
Service: Fantastic service with a smile
Food: Very good portions and full of flavour. Fish was probably the only let down out of 6 dishes we had.
Ambience: Always appreciate a place that works hard to make their decor nice, this place is one of them
Value for $: Absolutely, not the cheapest going around but the quality here is much better
Point of difference: The Tom Yum soup by far the best I've had since Thailand!
Went over for a casual dinner. Clean restaurant good staff with a language barrier but very eager to please. Nice authentic food and a lovely happy feel in the restaurant. Had the chilli banquet $32 which us too cheap and took half the mains home and skipped the included dessert. Overall very happy with dinner
We’ve never really ventured out to Bayswater before but on this night we were trying to find a dinner place without having to travel into the city. We were in the mood for some Thai so Chilli & Basil popped up on Zomato with a really high rating. We were intrigued and off we went to Bayswater!
On this weeknight, the restaurant wasn’t busy at all so even though we made a booking, we probably didn’t need to as there were plenty of tables. The restaurant had a casual setting and was pretty spacious. Staff were very warm and friendly however they didn’t seem to understand when I asked if the prawns in their prawn salad were raw or not. We got really excited when we saw ‘fresh prawn salad’ on the menu because we thought it may be similar to the raw prawn salad we had in Thailand. However the lady didn’t understand what raw meant so it took a while before we established that the prawns are slightly grilled (‘Are the prawns raw?’, ‘Are the prawns cooked or not?’). It was slightly concerning that she didn’t understand what raw or cooked meant but anyhoo... we got there in the end.
So we got the prawn salad, the curry puff chicken, the Tom Kha soup, the red curry roast duck, the grilled chicken in Thai style with Thai bbq sauce and the pineapple fried rice with chicken. The prawn salad had a tom yum flavoured sauce to it and as it was only slightly grilled, was quite nice. The Tom Kha soup was probably our least favourite as it had too much coconut for our liking. The menu did say the soup was fused with a hint of coconut but it was way more than a hint!
The roast duck red curry was really nice and had lychees and pineapple in it, bringing in an element of sweetness which I love. The grilled chicken was really soft and flavoured, an enjoyable dish and went well with the pineapple fried rice which was also very flavoured. All the portions were also very generous, it’s rare that we have leftovers but we had enough for dinner again the next day!
Overall, with the exception of the confusion about whether the prawns were raw or cooked at the start, it was a good experience. Good food and very attentive and friendly staff.

Went for a Sunday night dinner with mom as she loves Thai food. We ordered too much but I reckon it was my fault as I tend to do that all the time as I like to try a lot of things at every new place I go.
Ordered:
Vegetable Tom Yum Soup: Very tasty and has lots of scent. The spiciness and the sourness is in a perfect balance. Not too hot, not too spicy. It gives your stomach a good kick and ready for your next entree.
Thai fish cakes: mom said it tastes very authentic. It's very hot (warm, not spicy) as they made everything to order. I will get this again next time for sure.
Red beef curry: I love they are very generous in giving the gravy and its a lot of beef in that bowl. Red curry but leaning towards more sweet than spicy. It's easy to eat.
Chicken in chilli and basil stir fry: Very nice. Occasionally you would get too salty in this dish at some restaurants but this one is definitely balance.
Overall: food is super hot as made to order. Guarantee its fresh and you can tell it's not heated from microwave. You wish they open lunch as well and do more lunch special kind of thing as they only offer dinner time.
I would definitely come back for its little business as their food is really above average and we need good little businesses sustain in the society.
The ambience and presentation of food is pretty good. Food has rich flavour and is quite tasty. I loved their coconut juice, which was really good! To add to this, the staff is quite friendly and courteous.
Wow! What a surprise! We had Mix entree for share for 2 of us. I had Pad See Ew and my partner had Roast duck curry with lychee and they were divine. A portion was also huge so they were value for money. Best Thai restaurant in da area for sure. I will definately return and I would recommend to my friends.
Went there on Thursday evening at about 8pm. There were only 4 people dining that night. I liked the quiet cozy atmosphere and served by friendly waitress.
Ordered Dry Green Curry Soft Shell Crab and it was yum. Red Current Duck was nice too.
I have been searching for a nice thai restaurant with BYO and good value for a while. My second favourite Thai restaurant is Sam Thai but that's in Neutral Bay, Sydney.
This is a nice restaurant. They have a large menu with a specials board. Good service with fairly attentive staff. Most serving sizes were fairly large.
There are three or four Thai restaurants in Bayswater, but I think this one is the best. Setting is lovely, service is friendly and impeccable, food is amazing. My wife and I discovered this place quite by accident as it's somewhat tucked away, but we've come back several times since for date nights. Haven't had a meal yet that wasn't delicious. I recommend their soft-shell crab (any style)!
AMAZING! The food here is absolutely delicious! I have been going to another local Thai Restaurant for years but thought I would try this out. Definately a winner. So fresh & authentic Thai. I didn't dine in, I got takeaway, & was thoroughly impressed. The mixed entree is delightful & the red curry was to die for. This is my new fav Thai Restaurant now.
Had dinner here last night, had heard good reports. Good service and well spoken the food was Devine flavours awesome will defiantly go back, good prices too.

...the quantaties were completely generous AND the food is one of the tastiest I have ever tasted. So much so, that now I want to go into the restaurant and eat the food and experience it’s ambience from there.
SENSATIONAL fresh, tasty dishes!. Ordered take away last night and was impressed. They were very busy with take away orders. Had the spring roll prawns which were divine. Main was chilli and basil chicken. Fresh, amazing flavours and great portion sizes. Highly recommend! I will be back!
Not bad! Would come again!. Quiet little location, good food, good value.
Restaurant always seems pretty empty - but don't let that put you off!
Waitress slow to come and take our order, had to flag her over after 20mins, but food came out after only 15-20 mins. There's always something good on special - we had Massaman Curry which was nice. Also had Thai beef salad - lacking in flavour a tad but not too bad - nice tender juicy meat. Coconut rice not bad - but half way through the bottom half had sort of turned to mush. Wine list is not great - bring your own.
It's nothing to go massively out of your way for - but great for locals within a 20 min radius max.
Fantastic! Great little local gem. Great food, quick service, yum! Will be back!
Highly recommended!! To those who love Thai food, this place is totally has the beautiful thai dishes. I love Pad Thai Prawn and Green curry chicken. By the way, Baramandi fillet with tamarind sauce is another amazing dish! fresh vegies with professional cooking with friendly services. Will definitely go back there again.
Great food and great service
What a hidden gem this place is! The food was amazing and the service was fantastic. Highly recommended. We certainly will be going back. The massaman is absolutely delicious.
Went there for the first time last night. Our meal was fabulous especially the dumplings with the spicy sauce. The service was very friendly, we'll definitely be back
Awesome Thai food. Bought a Scoopon voucher and went to this Thai restaurant for dinner with my husband and two little kids last night. Delicious food and great service. Definitely will go back. Highly recommended ! 10/10 !!!!
Great food. Fantastic flavours. Wait staff had a great attitude. Nice atmosphere. Reasonably priced. Will be back soon!
Authentic Thai. Free delivery for orders over $30 is fantastic value for money! This will be a regular in my household!
Best Thai for ages. Went there in a group of five discerning diners and we all were pleasantly surprised. Nothing but the highest level of food and service. A great atmosphere and fabulous night was had by all. We'll definitely be back.
My ONLY suggestion for an improvement would be for them to get an EFTPOS machine which lets you add a tip. I asked them to ring my card through again, but I wonder how many diners just go without leaving a tip.
Been here a few times... the Thai green curry is my favorite and the girls that work here are so helpful love this place highly recommend
So enjoyable!. I bought my parents here for dinner one night after not being able to get a booking at Thai Tables where we normally go. I was a little nervous but for no reason as it was fantastic! This little gem is where we will dine for Thai from now on! A touch more expensive but well worth it, the food is delicious and the ladies serving us were wonderful :) It was not crowded or noisy so we could hear each other across the table but the place was by no means empty. Wont be disappointed eating here!
Excellent food and service. We have eaten here many times over the last 12 months, and it's always wonderful food, beautifully served by lovely staff. Veggies are always fresh and crunchy, and tastes are always delicate. Well done to all and please don't change!!!
Best Thai Restaurant in Eastern Burbs,. My family loves Chilli Basil, we go weekly, their food is consistently great and they have fantastic staff who know us by name. They are very accommodating for vegetarian and even vegan needs. Highly recommended!
We'll be back. Taken here for dinner by friends who are regulars. Will definately be back! Very tasty, plentiful serves. Service was excellent. Didn't know we had such good Thai so close to home.
It iz reely reely gud. Yew shud com heer an eet yu wil not beleev how gud it iz.
Chili Basil is the best Thai restaurant I've been to and I've been to Atleast 10 and overseas as well! They've got the friendliest staff and their food is amazing and very good value! They're very accommodating to special requests and are very vegetarian and vegan friendly.
Delicious. Last night we dined here with friends. The entrees were great came out hot and yummy. For mains we had Garlic Pepper Prawns, Cashew Nut Prawns, Ginger Chicken and I enjoyed Ginger Fish with a very light batter. My dish was so yummy lots of crunchy vegs and ginger sauce. Accompanied by Steamed rice and rotis with peanut sauce.
We had plenty to eat, sorry I forgot to take a photo, elegantly presented. Smallish quiet restaurant, so make sure you book ahead. The young staff were friendly and courteous. Have no doubt we will be back again soon.
Well done Chilli amd Basil !
Service was impeccable!!! Food was fresh, good flavors, lovely decor and music. Will be coming back for sure. Better than Thai tables across the road.
It's so nice restaurant that I never had before, the test are original Thai foods and good service mine...
Give it a go and you too will go back for more.... We dined here recently and did so, to support local starting businesses in the area. And much to our delight it was well worth the small three point whatever km trip. The setting is quite typical again of outer eastern Thai restaurants yet it does have a small lounge area that has had money ,spent on it. One could easily retire tO this nook and while the night away. The food is extremely fresh and all flavors in dishes are blended thoroughly. The spicy garlic dish was sensational and the meals were very well presented. The staff were very accommodating and friendly and it was great to see that the alcoholic beverages appealed to all diners tastes. Very excellent value for money and would definitely return. Highly recommend and if not able to walk into Thai tables off the street then do wander across the road to this little piece of bayswater's nirvana.
The food at their restaurant so very yummy.. Good presentation .. Good quantity and quality. Warm service and warm place. We definitely to go back to try your testy food again.
Pleasantly surprised. Not normally fans of Thai food but got flyer in letter box and decided to try it for something different.
Shared vegetable spring rolls and chicken satay skewers for entree. Beef with cashew nuts and garlic pepper chicken for main (we're not very adventurous).
Only down side was cut of beef, but everything else great. Fresh, lite and very tasty. Will visit again.
Good service. Nice Thai food. Value for money. I love their green curry gai. Lovely people. I like their comfortable setting.
