Review Vincent's Cafe Restaurant - Beaumaris

Wow! What a great place!! Amazing pasta and wonderful service. They will split the bill as well. Lunch special $13.50 with a wine. Definitely will come back and try a different dish.

Excellent food, great service, very reasonable prices. Toilet light needs fixing though!

Arrived at 6, waited an hour for starters, and only just got mains at 8pm. Quote from a 7 year old “I wonder if everyone has to wait this long”
Ben Kos
Entire pizza covered in thick uncut pieces of ham. Barely any cheese. Completely unseasoned and tasteless.
Brendan White
It was an enjoyable experience overall. The staff are very friendly and helpful, even on a busy night. The price is reasonable too. Unfortunately my dish, which was the Lasagna, was average. The pasta was overcooked and it lacked flavour. My partner did not have the same complaint with her seafood based dish though. I guess it depends what you order.

An unexpected lunch stop whilst travelling resulted in a delightful lunch! Delicious authentic Italian pasta, generous serve for lunch & excellent value for money. To top it all off the service was outstanding! Highly recommend.

A huge thank you to Sandy & the team at Vincents for catering so well for our family (33 people) celebration of our daughter's 18th. The food was great, the service was friendly, accommodating & professional. We couldn't have asked for a better evening. Thankyou again!!

This is my local pizza joint and I bloody love it. The food is very good and the service is really friendly. I find them to be consistent, to the point that I probably get take-away far too often. Very casual, great at accommodating all - young families, big groups, date night, etc. Top picks; Wood fire Calabrese pizza and chilli prawn pasta. 👌🏻

I virtually grew up eating here throughout my childhood years - every Sunday we would dine at Vincents, I have always had positive memories & this is certainly where my love of Italian food stemmed from. From the wood fired pizzas to the fries and pasta dishes this certainly is a delicious addition - Beach rd Beaumaris! #YUM

I’ve been coming here since my 30th birthday (and now I’m heading towards 50...) where I was looking for somewhere I could get a steak and my dad could bring his own wine. On a busy night you can also request a table upstairs with a view of the bay (although they don’t open upstairs on a quiet night which is a shame). I’m still getting my steak there at least once a month. I also love the garlic pizza. If they happen to have an eye fillet on the specials board definitely get it! Otherwise the standard porterhouse on the menu is excellent. I like mine just under medium-rare and they always nail it! Occasionally their younger wait staff are not great, but I’m sure it’s just when they are still in training. Same owners the whole time I’ve been there and usually the same manager, who is delightful.

Hmm not sure where to start. Stopped here at Vincent’s for a meal. Arrived unannounced and managed to snag a table outside with Mrs Ricco (not her real name) and our 2nd child (not a human more the canine variety).
On a serious note very happy with the meals and the quality. The young waitresses did a greater job. What they lacked in experience they more than made up for with enthusiasm. The portion sizes are spot on. I had the Pescatore and Mrs Ricco the chili prawn pasta. Is this fine dinning? No. Is it KFC?
It is a good quality cafe that specializes in Italian food. I read some of the reviews and after doing so though I must have been at a different establishment. Don’t take my word for it give it a go I think you might be surprised.

Errrrrrrrr, there are really very limited options if you're not fond of the meats. The menu that is listed on here isn't their current menu.

This place use to be a nice place with delicious food , whereas after not being here for a few years it is sad to say the food and service has gone down hill. The service was shocking, rude and very slow. The food took over an hour and it wasn’t even anything great. The pizza i had was full of cheese and had no actual italian flavour which was disappointing. The lunch and dinner deal is good but the food isnt. Better italian food else where. Disappointing.

Cute place by the ocean. Hosted a dinner party and was given a good deal. Food is reasonable, deserts are large and very enjoyable. Staff are friendly and willing to have a chat.

Slow and inexperienced staff despite the place not being too busy. I had the Morrocan Chicken Risotto which was fantastic. I also tried some of the duck which was flavourful but it was also dry which was unfortunate. Great restaurant but the food is not quite up to scratch with quality and the staff need to be more aware of all tables to ensure all tables get better service.

In search of a nice Italian Restaurant we tried this well established Restaurant but unfortunately the search continues. Pizza was fine without being memorable but the pumpkin agnolotti was bland and flavorless. The greek salad was quite good.
Staff really had very little idea of the menu and seemed very inexperienced.
What really lets this place down though is the 30 year old furnishings and the public bar smell. Wanted it to be good but sadly the search continues!

Just make a booking now; you won’t regret it.👍
Several people recommended this restaurant and my only regret is not going there earlier.

There is a broad range of choices that won't disappoint and the wood fire oven and semi open kitchen create an inviting relaxed environment in which to dine.

All of this combined with a relaxed Happy Bayside attitude results in a pleasant dining experience with the minor exception being the bathrooms which need a facelift or at least better washing facilities.

Vincent's was not a hugely enjoyable food experience. They have a big menu and I made an obvious poor choice from the pasta menu. I was looking for something that stood out from your typical mainstream bistro style pasta menu, and found it in the gnocchi. Even on paper I should have known better. I think what roped me in was the smoked trout, which I like a lot. In this dish it was decent in itself, and the actual gnocchi was made bouncey the way I like it, although perhaps a bit too resistant. It didn't really matter in the end because it was drowned out by the cream and curry powder sauce which was terribly un-Italian for one thing, but also reminiscent of poor quality westernised Asian fare (concerning the addition of curry powder). The generous avocado really didn't sit well with me as the other choice of ingredient. It came out harsher on the palate amongst the creaminess. It wasn't an entirely uninspired dish, but just an idea that went in the wrong direction I think. I thought I would try a dessert special to see if I could salvage the experience, but the homemade violet crumble ice cream was so incredibly bland. No hint of honeycomb whatsoever and the texture was a bit too icy. I was left with something that tasted like regular cheap chocolate chip ice cream.
The service was good and the prices are reasonable, but certainly not enough to get me back there.

Tried and proven over the last 10 years - a Family favorite or just my wife and I enjoy this no fuss honest, well valued establishment. Everything offered ranging from wood fired oven pizzas to pasta to meat/pork dishes is well presented, portioned, and tasty. Family relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff, prompt service.
Sarah
Delicious woodfired pizza and BYO wine. Need I say more?

The desserts are excellent too, if you can manage it after filling up on pizza.

45 minutes for a 10 minute order. Pricing questionable. May aswell have got domino's.
My cheesy garlic bread sweated in the plastic container they put it in more than a gypsy with a mortgage.

Went to Vincents today for a family Easter celebration. We were a group of 17. The service was great, food was delicious with very generous serves. We had a set menu of a shared entree and a choice of a main. I would only have one suggestion, we need more bread to eat the delicious antipatio.

Have been frequenting this restaurant for years, always a safe 'go-to' restaurant for birthdays/special nights/taking visitors out for dinner or just for a very well priced meal deal.

The quality of the food has always been consistent across the entire menu. The Caesar Salad is the best I've ever had, that dressing is just perfection.

Thanks for the consistent food, speedy service and brilliant pricing (especially the dinner specials).

Picture: $20 dinner special with an Aussie pizza (half was too quickly devoured before I remembered to snap a pic!) + Caesar salad & a red wine.

Don't know what has happened with the pizza, use to be fantastic, I have friends locally and I would drive from Richmond once a week and we loved the pizza.
Now it's tasteless and very average.
They need to lift there game.
How disappointing, I once raved about this place, not anymore.
TheFatherHood
Great value for money, love the dinner specials. For $20 I got a main pizza, with a salad and drink. The atmosphere was great and the staff were friendly.

This restraunt is very disappointing! I orderd the chilli prawn pasta and my wife ordered carbonara.

My chilli prawn pasta had no flavour, was very watery and Byo steak knife to cut through the prawns. This dish had no flare and looked like shit. I could not eat this.

The wifes carbonara was also very watery and was missing flavour.

We were not offered parmasan cheese or black pepper for our meals. There was no garnish.

To conclude, this venue has gone to the dogs. Food was bland, boring and uninviting.
Simon
Had a great a dinner with the family, seafood platter to die for and steak cooked to perfection, would definitely recommend this place to others for great food and such friendly and attentive wait staff

Came here for dinner lastnight. Had a calabrese pasta and the wife had a duck and meals were lovely all round. Service was great and very attentive which made our dining experience so much better. Definitely will be back for more and recommend others to go

Been coming to Vincents for a lot years, thought I'd write a review about what a great time I have had on every occasion. Not sure what all the bad reviews about, Vincents has been nothing but consistent for last 10 years of visits. Food is always great, with amazing value, & the always friendly service makes for an enjoyable experience at Vincents. Great for families and get togethers. Definitely recommend

I visited this restaurant for the first time on Saturday night. We found the staff extremely friendly & the food was delicious!! Great value for money & great service. Will definitely be coming back!

Poor service, food was inedible, staff are argumentative and made for an all round worst family dining experience ever that we'll be discussing for decades to come.

Great service and a great place for Christmas parties. Beautiful authentic Italian food. They have a lunch menu for students on a budget. They give A LOT of food!
J0rdz
Service was great but food was overpriced and rather uninspiring. Heavily overcooked my steak, which was one of the most expensive dishes on the menu.

The restaurant itself was quite unkempt. From their outside front window and walls, with red wine splashed on the inside entrance, through to sticky banisters.

Don't waste your time, you'd get better at La Porchetta.
Jcumming
Very consistent. We love coming down to Vincent's for a meal as we find it very consistent. We like the pasta and salad, it's a light meal with a glass of wine. The pasta is always soft and the sauce just right. The salad compliments the pasta. Light and easy. We can rely on Vincent's and we do bring our friends here.

Microwaved meals.. Went to Vincent's last night, ordered roast duck. Duck arrived, just warm on top and very hot inside, duck and vegetables stringy.
Duck and vegetables must have been set on plate earlier and then microwaved when required. Disgusting third rate meal

Lost our booking. We had booked two weeks earlier for a 16th birthday dinner for our son and his 12 friends. Arrived in the pouring rain on Friday night last week only to be told we didn't have a booking. The manager took my number - I expected a call to apologise or offer some consolation but the call never came. She seemed more interested in working out which of her junior staff had stuffed up rather than taking responsibility as a business. We won't be returning. Please make sure you confirm your booking - our son was devastated.

Really disappointed. After going to Vincent's every Wedneday night for the last 3 months, tonight's dinner was soooooo disappointing that myself & daughters will not be returning. One of my daughters ordered the dish that I had last week which was really tasty - the asparagus, mango, avocado chicken salad - only this week it was one piece of SHAVED asparagus, 8 very very small pieces of mango, about the same avocado, 2 chicken tenderloins 1 that was cut in half, lots of lettuce, sliced radish no dressing. When we complained to the waitress (blonde/fair hair who we had not seen before) she really could not have cared less. The only person who seemed to care was a Alana who we had the pleasure of being our waitress on many occasions over the last 3 months. Alana has shown herself to be extremely competent & a pure delight & we will miss her friendly smile & warm personality. But we will not be return

Works for me!!. Been going to vincents last few months on various occasions..value is great & enjoyed the meals. Staff are so friendly, accommodating & provide great service! Love the service & atmosphere, a place the girls are always smiling!!!

Not bad but not great. Vincents is really a hit and miss, the food its self is a bit of a hit and miss but never horrible. The waitress we had who is the manager with tattooed arms and long black hair was so impersonal and sooooo rude! She really ruined the night, meals were wrong and late, was simply a dissapointment
Harvest_vella
So very average. I keep somehow ending up at Vincents (other people have organised), so I have been there about 5 times now. The first 2 times, the food was inedible. I had a pasta dish both times (different ones), and both were horrible! i chose simple dishes to be safe, it did not help. The most recent time i was there was Mother's day this year. I ordered a salad which was quite nice. My husband (not trusting the food) ordered a very simple chicken parmagiana, which was absolutely INEDIBLE. The chicken was tough and had dark patches throughout. He is not a fussy eater. My parents in law had seafood which they enjoyed - maybe it is only seafood they do well? Also, we waited 2 hours for our lunch - 2 hours! we ended up eating at about 3:30pm. It was very busy due to the fact it was mother's day, but if you can't service the tables properly with the staff you have DON'T take the bookings! Or at least apologise for the delay and keep us updated. They didn't say anything and did not apologise.
Carolyn Brown
After going there for a very special occasion for lunch, they seated us then we waited for 20 min tor our drinks we waited 40 min for our meal . When it came they had a main meal of my husbands entree and his main meal, both arrived together, no bread and dips which were ordered for premeal, no entree for both of us , no main meal for me , just a main meal entree for him and his main meal, we were there for one hour and ten mins .. Not the type of high quality restaurant I would recommend to any one,

How sad! IT IS TERRIBLE!. One of the "used to be". I visited this restaurant quite regularly for several years, but since a really bad experience, two years ago, I avoided it.
Recently I was invited to dine at Vincent in Beaumaris and.....even if i did not liked the idea, I accepted, witha hopeful heart. NO,NO,NO!!!! Terrible is the word that better defines the place, the food, the service. NEVER AGAIN!
JM Lee
Very slow for food to come out. Our table waited over an hour for our meals on a Sunday night (would hate to see how long the wait is on a Fri/Sat night). This has happened the last 3 times we've been to Vincents.
With young children we can't afford to spend hours at a restaurant so we won't be coming back here any more.

The waitresses are very friendly and efficient, but are let down by the slowness of the kitchen.

It was really annoying to see that the tables that came in AFTER us were served their food BEFORE us, and people walking in to order take away also ordered after us and received their food first. Seems to be totally disorganised in the kitchen.

The kids meals ended up coming out last, a good 15 mins after the adult meals had been served, by which time the kids were hungry and grumpy (and rightly so). Our kids ordered pizza, so it should be quick to cook. Most other restaurants make a point to serve the kids first so not sure why this doesn't happen at Vincent's.

That was the Worst meal I have ever had
I had the duck and it was about 20 minutes over cooked
I will never go back or recommend

Excellent food and fantastic staff highly recommended.

Rang through a takeaway order and paid for it when I arrived, only to realise (from the arm waving in the kitchen) that it hasn't even been made yet. The arm waving continued so I asked for my money back and left. The place was mostly empty too - will never go back again.

Had dinner at Vincent's last night.
Was warm and friendly. Had the pie special which was tasty and sizeable.

Needs a revamp!. I used to enjoy coming to this place a few years ago, I visited recently on a Friday night and was really disappointed at the quality of the food, they really seem to have gone downhill. We had a table of about 6 people and ordered the garlic bread and cheese and herb bread. I didn't get to try the garlic bread, but the cheese bread was basically a bagel cut in half with grilled cheese on it. It came out cold and tasted sweet and I couldn't eat it. I ordered the $20 dinner special with Caesar Salad and decided on the Lasagne – we ordered just after 7.30. We received our drinks promptly but it took almost an hour for our meals to arrive – in the end, the pasta arrived before the salad! My Caesar tasted funny and was drenched in dressing and egg. The lasagne was ok. My friend ordered the spaghetti with bacon and sun-dried tomatoes in a EVO sauce – this looked great and I wish I had ordered that (she said it was tasty!)... I guess you get what you pay for! As other reviewers have mentioned, it seems more ‘pub-esk’ style of food. The interior needs a good overhall and the menu needs to be freshened up – they have the same pastas as they did 3 years ago. If you want good quality home style pasta and pizza – head down the road to Joe’s at Mentone.

Vincents was great !. A group of five friends had Saturday lunch at Vincent's. This is my sixth visit and the restaurant is consistently friendly with a nice ambience and most importantly delicious meals. There is a large variety of pasta and they have a home made touch. The cannelloni is delicious as were the other meals. Wood fired pizzas are delicious Salads are fresh and varied to accompany the meal. The house wine is fine, The $13.50 lunch and $20 tea are amazing value, and you aren't compromising on service or food quality choosing this option.

Dreadful!. We have been to Vincent's 10 times over the last 6 months.
We went there last night, and it was so dismal we have decided never again. In the past we have had some great dishes, but there have also been some real misses as well. It's always been good enough for us to consider going back.
Last night was so disappointing. We ordered garlic bread, and received a bagel that had been cut into quarters, rather than bread. Curiously we only received 3/4 of the bagel. Don't know what happened to the other part of it. It wasn't toasted, was soggy and cold.
I ordered the chilli prawn spaghetti, which in the past has been tasty. The prawns were not deveined. Oh, and they forgot the chilli!!
No apology when we brought this to their attention.
So, never again.

Nice meals, good price and friendly service. A local favourite :)

Great quick weeknight dinner, child friendly and cheerful.. We booked a table of 6 for dinner on Wednesday evening at Vincents Cafe.
Our three Children were completely catered for with special kids menus, with a colouring picture on one side and a glass of crayons. Kids meals were simple and also they offered cheap kids appropriate sized ice cream and topping. Adults meals were delicious $20.00 special including a salad, pasta and glass of red or white. Wait staff were lovely as well as attentive. Highly recommend the pumpkin agnolotti it was delicious!
We will be back. Thanks Vincents.

Dated. This place is SO dated it feels like you have gone back in time. There is no atmosphere. I went there because someone said the pizzas were good but they werent. The other meals apart from pizza are pretty expensive and small

Safe menu and interior made me feel like I was at a pub , it's ok but needs work I know they been around for ages but gee get with the times.

Terrible service. We went to this cafe for quick lunch and the service was so terrible especially the black hair female waitress.
To be specific today is 17/8/12 around 2pm. We asked for pepper for our food and
She brought the pepper grinder over and chuck to our face then walked away.
The other male waiter perhaps saw our amazement so he came over and
did it for us...
We never come back here again.

I am so happy I know about Vincent's just am all round really happy! Love it
Haylee
Very good and prompt service! Was able to alter dish to add bacon to my pasta and dessert and coffee were delish!

Old Persons Restaurant. With only two options of Like or Dislike I have to vote dislike but there was nothing wrong other than "tiredness". Old decore and fittings set the mood. Not worn out old but just old in concept.
The menu was the same. Nothing exciting, everything safe.
Big "no-no" is that they do not serve the pizzas on a Sunday even though that is 25% of their menu.
Average age would have been 60ish on the day we were there; and I'm older than that.
Also watch the gap between courses. Keep "hoying" the staff to keep it all coming.
Other than that the food was well cooked even if a bit "pubby".
Ann
Ann. Visited Vincents on New Years Eve and had a very pleasant dining ecperience. There was nothing I could critise. Food was great, service was great and price was also great. Will recommend and return again
Mitchell
The food was quite good, if you don't mind a 1.5 hour wait, a hopeless and arrogant waiter and cold coffee. Beware of Gluten Free claims: our group had two ceoliacs, both ensured with the waiter that their meals would be gluten free. Turns out the meals were not - and both had to endure horrible reactions afterwards as a result of unknowingly consuming gluten. A few years ago this place was great, however at some stage things have changed and it is now definitely on my no-go list!
Julia M
The food is really yum but the amount of food they give you is tiny.
John Georgantis Thunderbird
Always spot on....... A table for eight please.... A cosy place, fantastic staff and outstanding food. Wood fire pizzas were mouth watering and all food from the kitchen was spot on. A fantastic specials board and most important, the kids ate all the food. I recommend it for anyone.

Good from afar but far from good. Went Friday night with family for birthday celebration. Had heard some good things about the restaurant .
Looked friendly and welcoming from outside.
Called in once before but couldn't get in so booked 2 weeks ahead. Sat down to a busy restaurant , menu interesting and looked forward to a good night Glasses dirty. Waited 2 hours for meals - found food very ordinary and sloppy presentation. Gristle in the veal and no vegetables in the massive mess that was the lamb shanks. Spaghetti and meat balls appeared as if it had come straight from the can on to the dirty plates, which all the food was placed on. When we had said something at the 1.45hr mark the food was to be "next out" when we complained about the dirty plates we were given excuses "the head chef left two weeks ago" and "we have 22 people in the next room that ordered before you" when one of the meals was sent back because of the plate it came back out on a dirty plate. There was no accountability for the lateness of the food or the way it was dished up. Offered free desert and coffee but we all felt unsure as to how long it would take and may come out on dirty plates . Given a reduction on the bill .Should have been no charge at all . Very disappointing .

My friend talked about this place so I have decided to have try. First impression, cottages style environment which is great. Food were served fast but the quality wasn't good enough. Ordered a pasta and veal scallopini. Pasta sauce was so watery that it didn't coat the pasta. The veal was cooked well done and it's tough and dry. Service was not present. We hadn't offered basic services. We needed to ask for wine list, cracked pepper, level of my veal should be cook when there were only two tables in the shop. Even, my entree plates and folks were not collected after my entree meal. Anyway, finished, paid and left. Ni more next time.
Mick
Disappointed. Service poor, waited 15 minutes for drink! Calamari, not bad, except for long black hair, on plate! Chicken tougher than leather, as for others steak, Well if you like gristle, come to Vincents. A poor experience and if like sitting in a wind tunnel, this is for you!! On a brighter note the bins at the back should be full of half eaten meals, so take your dog for a walk and save on food bills for your dog.

Vincent's Cafe Restaurant. The best lamb shanks in my life. They melted in my mouth with a succulent sauce. The chef was a wizard. Friendly, professional service and offers value for money If this is what they can do, I'm coming back.
Ahelmil
Went on a Tuesday, as expected empty and closing by 10pm. Expected a little more from this spot. Duck was dry, veal was older, only the lamb shanks and seafood platter gleamed a bit
Peter
It's still the same - but that's OK. Vincent's never changes - good but not gourmet food, reasonable service and good value for money. You can still take wine but they now charge for corkage (so something changed). The menu remains the same as it ever was with the set price lunch/dinner of main, salad & glass of wine They could change the menu (apart from the prices that is). Take mum and dad.
Michael
Iconic restaurant. Have been dining at Vincents for as long as I have lived in the area and never had a bad meal there. It's a great place for lunch, too. Their lunch special must be the best deal in Melbourne. I get take away from there as well and their wood fired pizzas are the best in the area. Love the staff, always happy and helpful! Can definitely recommend this place!

What a gear place this is table for 8 had great meals & fine wine we will be back!

We dined here for the first time tonight (Queens birthday 2010). I always had the impression this would be a nice restaurant. I expected it to be at least a little bit special. It wasn't bad, but it was nothing special. The waitresses were friendly enough but not terribly attentive. The restaurant itself was quite cold and looked like it needed a good clean. Watching the waitress wipe down a table with a dirty rag, not bothering to lift the condiments (but letting cleaning mist fall on them), didn't instil us with confidence in their level of care. If they're doing this in front of us, what are they doing in the kitchen? The food itself was unsophisticated fare that you could make at home. I had the current special lamb shanks. The meat was nice enough but the sauce was a confused, rich mess. The mash was ordinary. A search party was required to find any other vegetables. We've lived in the area for decades, but once was enough for Vincents.
