Review King Fook - Belconnen

Their duck pancake and dry chili beef are absolutely delicious! I came to dine in a couple of times this year and I am happy they have new friendly staff. I don't see the rude lady there anymore.

New to Canberra from the asian food capital of Australia, Darwin. Thought we'd try the local. Yeah not real good. Ordered the chicken satay sticks. Burnt. Inedible. Dry. No stay sauce. Crispy chicken was a schnitzel and the pepper sauce was watery. Ordered vegitarian chow mien. Tasted burnt and greasy. Daughter loved the vegitarian spring rolls so there's that. Sweet and sour pork was as expected. Had better chinese at a regional Country town food Court.

Staff were super friendly in very busy times. The Chilli Beef was absolutely delicious. Garlic chicken was tasty as well, but the Mongolian Beef could have used more veggies. I can recommend King Fook

Oh my god. Avoid this place. I don't review often but I had to for this one. As a Canberrean I am not going to let us all get used to the substandard service. The lady over the phone was so rude, that all I wanted to do was hang up. But my mum has taught me better so persisted. The food was ordinary. I ordered chicken and eggplant and the lady lost her mind when I said I wanted two eggplant dishes instead of one. As I did not speak as per her script she could not understand what to do next and started yelling. I don't think any place, however good the food should get away with rudeness and disrespect. I am sure she has her own set of issues in life, but when I pick up the phone to order takeaway all I want to do is order takeaway not get yelled at. So never again. And next time she is rude, please say something and let's create more awareness in a polite way.

I bloody love this place! The people complaining about the “rude lady” obviously haven’t met her. She is a HOOT and the food and table service are equally excellent. You really need to dine-in for the full experience because no food keeps too well when it is sent on a takeaway journey… Hot and fresh is always best. Finally, the business’ name “King Fook” makes me smile.

Just got home delivery.. Dry chilli beef is not good just beef not crispy, honey king prawns were soggy, whole meal is cold... Flavours are good but just a let down with the outcome

Don’t recommend at all! Avoid this restaurant!!! I would put 0 star if I could. The lady who took our order over the phone was so rude. We just wanted to order takeaway but her attitude was like we did something wrong or we owe her money! She ruined our day for no reason. No one deserves to be treated like that!

Came here on Saturday night after skiing. We came from NSW so made a booking at 6:30 before the night just in case. When we arrived there is was already quite busy and the restaurant looked popular with neighbors. We had crispy aroma duck(this dish is what we came here for), sweetsour pork, crispy rice hot and sour soup etc..
Eventho I saw few bad reviews, actually all of us enjoied all dishes we ordered. I specially liked crispy rice hot and sour soup which makes sounds! When pouring soup over the rice. Must try:)

This has been the most disgusting inedible food I have ever had . The whole meal turned up COLD . The king prawn chow mein with crunchy noodles $17.80 dish was stone cold no noodles and the sauce tasted like tap water . The crispy skin lemon chicken had no lemon sauce and was soft and limp not crispy at all.
When I called back to get the missing dishes I was told that I was to wait for another hour for it to be dropped off and it was not their problem that the rest of the food was the way it was because they were busy. Biggest waist of $100.00 ever
WILL NEVER EAT HERE AGAIN. And would not recommend King fook to any one .

Totally rude receptionist/order taker. The food was once among the best chinese in Canberra, now it is among the worst. The prawns in the combiation fried rice are cut into 3 lengthwise to make it look like you are getting more than you are. The sweet and sour you have to go in search of the sauce. The food is bland. The atmosphere is dark and dingy, and the bill is always different to the prices on the menu and always in their favour.

Extremely disappointed. 3 of us Tuesday night. No one else in restaurant. Wanted 3 spring rolls and 3 dim sims. No cant do that any more only come in lots of 2. Food serves have halved in size over last 12 months. Won't be going back.

King Fook Rips Customers Off. Worse Chinese Takeaway ever. We ordered from them tonite and received the order late as i had to phone then up to see what was going on with our order and we had to wait another 15 mins to the 1hr that were waiting for home delivery service. We finally got our order paid for it and then i notice we only got half our order. I phoned up king Fook to tell em about the order and getting charged full price for things we didn't receive. i talk to a guy that works there and he was making out we got everything. The Guy was getting rude to me about the order problem and then i just told him we ain't going to get from them ever again and hanged up as he had me waiting on the phone for 10 mins before calling me a lie. We have been getting from this place for the last year and have never had any problems, Until tonite. I recommend finding another place that treats customers alot better then King Fook. That Rip people off.

A great local. We've been eating at King Fook both dine in and take away for a few years. The food is good quality and in particular the sizzling king prawn with black pepper sauce. From a dine in perspective, it would be a better experience if the restaurant was refreshed including the stained chair cushions. Such potential.....the great food is just the start.

Very poor service. We ordered takeaway,
While the phone was never on the hook to ring through (both numbers)
Once I finally got through we ordered one prawn one chicken dish.

After getting home we found out there was two prawn dishes,
We rang to let them know the order was wrong, to be told.

No one ordered two prawn dishes....
If I don't see the prawns it doesn't count....

Never again

Local Regular. Definately satisfying (if not always mind blowing) food. I have headed down the road to King Fook on many occasions. This in itself should say something about the food. I order their vegetarian dumplings quite frequently. These are juicy and full of flavour. I also order their hand made noodles which are pretty good, and their fried bean curd with spicy peppery salt, which is crispy and tasty. Another dish I went mad over was their fish in wine sauce. Really nice. My partner orders the meat dishes and enjoys her meals every time. We have also both eaten their simple, clean vegetarian fried rice more times than we can remember. This is a humble, simple, no fuss Chinese joint that delivers. Some dishes are not as flash as some might want, but if you go in knowing what to expect, and are happy with that, you will be able to find some gems in the menu that do the trick. I’ve found the service here to be really good. There is one girl who can get a bit grumpy, but that isn’t anything to lose your temper over. She probably spends 7 days a week there, and forgets people are experiencing her for the first time. The chap there is superb

Bad dining experience... I was a regular customer of King Fook Florey for last 2 years....Going there with my family every week....They even started knowing us very well..Have no problems with food..but for the first time in 2 year we couldn't finish our food somehow and asked them pack it for me... In a very Very shameless manner the guy gave me container to pack my own food...come on guys I am coming to your restaurant every week with my family and this is the treatment we got....Will never go there again ever...cant get insulted with my family like that...

Came here the second time to eat the aromatic duck and so we wanted to try other stuffs as well. When we asked the waitress for suggestions on popular dishes or house specials and she was unpleasent and did not seem heappy to provide suggestions. Ended up just choosing mainstream dishes that we had had at other chinese places.

Good food , smallest meals ever. Tried king foolk takeaway again after 2 years due to size of meals, food was great tasting but 2 out of 3 dishes were only half a container full , very disappointed
Back to regal & fortune cookie

Well worth a visit, at least for the Peking Duck!. Wouldn't go so far as to say that it was the best Peking Duck I have ever had . Not even the best in Canberra, but it certainly was enjoyable and good value. The handmade noodles were good as well.

Tried a few more dishes and had our interest piqued by others on the menu. Shall come back for those.

The scallops and prawns were fine, but the salt and pepper tofu had an unnecessary thick batter that simply retained the taste of the cooking oil and could easily have been much better.

All in all I'd go back and it was a good night.

Not Impressed!. We ordered approximately $60 worth of food delivered and was told it was going to be about at 45 minute wait. I said that was fine and hung up. After an hour had gone, I called them up and the lady said that the man was in Dunlop (I live in Evatt), I asked approximately how long he would be with which she replied 'however long it takes to get from Evatt to Dunlop"!! I couldn't believe it. I then hung up. Another 30 minutes goes by and I call again asking when/where our food was and when it was coming. The lady said 'oh should be in the next half an hour'. So after 2 hours of waiting I called them again to cancel my order as had decided that our food had probably been rolling around the back of somebodys car for who knows how long! She then offered a discount of $5 (which I did not accept). So I am sad to say their service was terrible and still have been unable to try their food and probably wont!

Great Feed!. Had a wonderful dinner, great family atmosphere. Will recommend to all my friends and family for something thats not too expensive but not lacking quality and taste!

I ordered a meal here and after being told the price in the restaurant when I went to pickup I said I was paying cash and wanted their advertised 10% discount for cash.

He refused to offer it and insisted on the full price..mumbling that the Family Packs were already a good price.

Nowhere on their menu does it say that family packs are excluded from this deal.

You have been warned.

The food was "ok". Generic suburban Chinese takeaway food.

Best EVER.. Great food consistently - always at every visit.... Super friendly & warm staff and very easy on the pocket- not expensive at all- real value for money... Everytime

Recommended. I've been to this place a couple of times and every time I have it has been great. The quality of the food is always top notch and the price isn't costly at all. The atmosphere of the place is great for casual dining with family or even a date with a partner with its chilled atmosphere. if you're around the area I definitely recommended you try this restaurant.

NEVER EAT HERE! We had read some reviews from other sites talking about how good the Peking duck was and thought we would give it a try. The review must have been written by the owner or someone who had been paid by then. It wasn't Peking duck at all. It was obviously a duck they had cooked earlier and then put in a deep fryer to heat up for the order ( yes it was as gross as it sounds ). We also ordered some noodles and a pork dish. The noodles came out in a flavorless slimy sauce and the pork was like eating a salt lick. We tried a mouthful of each dish and then made it out of there as quick as we could!

Probably my favourite casual dinning/cheap eats experience in Canberra so far. It was good - actually fantastic food and it was affordable, this is what Chinese food should be like and how much it should cost.

Instead of our normal datenight this week, we went on a double date instead. I had been talking about doing a Peking Duck dinner with a friend for awhile, at least since last year, and yet we never got around to doing it. Then last week, another friend and I started talking about making some pork on a spit and the conversation ended up about Peking Duck. So I organised the double date on a whim. I googled 'peking duck Canberra' and a few results (with positive reviews) pointed me towards King Fook, a Chinese restaurant at the other end of the earth from our house. I was pretty starving by the time we arrived at 6pm. These days, I seem to be hungry every 2 hours, and 6pm is really pushing that 2-hour deadline. So when the waitress asked if we wanted 2 or 3 courses of Peking Duck - we agreed on 3 courses. On hindsight, we should have done the 2 courses, as 1 of the review said we get about 20 pancakes for entree. We didn't actually count how many we got exactly, but 20 seemed right. I ha
