Review Earthly Pleasures Cafe - Belgrave

maschinedownunder (The Machine)
Spent a few days in the area and went there twice for lunch with my wife. Absolutely brilliant place. The atmosphere is great with the fireplace radiating nice warmth on a rainy and cold day. Service was super friendly and prompt on both visits. I had the Field Mushroom Burger on both occasions cause it was just super good. Also had the Apple Rhubarb Crumble twice cause its so nice. Wife had a Buddha Bowl once, very nice too as well as the Sticky Date Cake she had for desert. Overall, the food is healthy and very delicious - all without breaking the bank. Would go back any time and highly recommend to anyone looking for a nice cafe that has atmosphere, good service and yummy food.

Stunning Locale My good friend and I were blown away by the beauty of this historical site. The food and drink were delightful, but I must confess that the locale stole the show. I can’t wait to take more friends here to partake in this unique experience. Along with friendly staff it’s a must see for tourists and locals alike.

Great "Ambience". It's like you've travelled back to the medieval times with knights, dragons and castles, it has a great restaurant/cafe layout and design. Includes a fireplace on cold days to keep you warm. However, the food doesn't do this place justice. I had a burger which tasted and looked like something you'd find outside a NASCAR Racing Event. It definitely wasn't 4 or 5 stars for me. But the layout and design was 5 stars. Customer service was phenomenal, just disappointed with the food. No tomato sauce with chips and cappuccino was average at best..........Burger looks good but It was average. Hopefully they change it.

Really beautiful cafe that is tucked away from the busy street. Gorgeous outdoor area, cosy indoor area with unique artwork and brick. The cafe drinks were not the best, but the ambiance and friendly staff makes up for it. Ample parking at the back where Belgrave Library is. Reservations encouraged on weekends!

Beautiful beautiful space. It was raining when we got there but I think it added to the appeal. Service was friendly, food took a while to come out but we didn't mind. Portion was big for the price. All in all a very positive experience for us.

Came here for brekkie on recommendation from a friend. What a warm, cosy atmosphere! And the staff were really friendly too. The coffee was just right (we liked it so much we ordered a second) and I enjoyed my roasted mushrooms with poached egg added.

The food was average, we arrived at 1.30 pm and received the food at 2.45 pm when served it was warm, not hot. Asked the waitress to check on our food she told us they'd serve us 2 hot chocolates on the house for the delay which took them another 30 minutes to make. We walked out without it as they said they'll be a wait on the drinks. Was really excited to visit left terribly disappointed.

Had an amazing saturday by visiting this beautiful and peaceful Cafe in Belgrave. Recommending the Buddha Bowl and Matcha Latte. The Place is just amazing with lush green garden. With gratitude, Sid.

The staff were wonderfully polite. The food was fantastic best bacon I have had and don't get me started on the iced caramel! Prices weren't too bad either. Definitely would come back again.

I performed a wedding here yesterday (as a celebrant) and I cannot speak highly enough! What a stunning place! Friendly professional staff, yummy food, and the most delightful setting. Truly a hidden gem

Really lovely spot in Belgrave with some great breakfast and lunch options. They often offer great specials, the most memorable of which was the vegan bruscetta, would love to see this on the regular menu!!

Tracy and I had our wedding reception here for around 80 guests. As it was a 1920s themed wedding the venue was perfect and Adam made sure we were all looked after. The cocktail menu food was beautiful and the craft beers made for a great night. All staff were attentive and the food service was all over the venue from the very start. I cannot recommend this place more to anyone that want a reception with a great party feel. Adam is very laid back and easy to work with, trust him as he will make sure you have a great night.

Just back from a lovely dinner tonight. Extensive, well thought out menu for a vegetarian not just vegetable risotto or pasta and the sticky date pudding, yum. Their food is always nice as well as consistant. Oh and the service was excellent. Try the Magic Coffee!!!!

We used to come here all the time as locals, but this was my first visit in a year or so. Gorgeous venue as always and I ordered the gnocchi. It was disappointing (floury and dense little nuggets) and at $28, I was hoping for something much better. Wait staff were awkwardly intrusive too.

Beautiful place and very helpful and friendly people and lovely food alot vegan options:)

Stopped here with my family for brunch, after a recommendation a family member, many choices for everyone's taste buds, loved the origins of ingredients as well, loved everything about our time here, helpful staff, lovely atmosphere and music, even had one fussy child super satisfied with their meal. Coffees' were delicious as well!! The building is equisite, steeped in history! Very Highly recommended!!

Great atmosphere. Love coming here with a book and soaking up this lovely cafe over breakfast, coffee and/ or a fresh baked something. The staff are always lovely, thoughtful good humans. Lots of delicious options for non omnis too

Such a gorgeous little cafe tucked away in the heart of Belgrave. The atmosphere is great and the food is so tasty and fresh. Definitely worth a visit.
Kat Wilder
The new dinner menu is lovely. The barramundi and lamb were delightful! Thank you for giving us somewhere fabulous to eat in the evenings in Belgrave. We'll be back!
Andrew McCready
Poorly trained staff serving food on dirty plates. Main arrived without the condiment and food was inedible. There are many better options available in Belgrave. Avoid like the plague!
Maria Betoulis
A historical place fill of greenery tucked away for a peaceful and serenity feel. Sevice friendly and attentive. When going for dessert a bit of disappointment need more variety and served with presentation. I ordered a friand was just put on a plate looked boring.
Mammarose Amara
Amazing food and amazing service! Love every inch of this place!

I wanted so much to like this place. The venue was gorgeous and it had such a lovely bohemian vibe. The magic started to wear off when we waited over 20 minutes for someone to come take our order. We tried desperately to flag down one of the waiters, but they were busy picking up dishes, making phone calls and standing around the bar. We finally placed our orders. Hot food came out within a reasonable time, but then those of us who had ordered cakes waited another 20 minutes or so, before finally flagging down the waiter again. The two who ordered hot food were well and truly finished by the time the cakes came out. I was a bit disappointed by the baked cheese cake, which was quite gritty in texture and had a really thick "skin." A lot of the menu items were very expensive for what they are. I don't think we'll be back :(

We have our monthly club members breakfast there and always have great time, everyone loves the venue, food and service- that's why we keep coming back

Great place to relax, coffee, food, dessert were all excellent. Plenty of vegan options as well. Highly recommended

A nicely setup exquisite blue stone cottage. Best for vegan and gluten friendly dishes. Vegetable lentil soup, bread dip, folded omelette and pesto wrap. I wish they can also include waffle and pancakes.
Emily Rose Natoli
Went here and had the vegan turkish panini and the vegan cheesecake with a soy mocha. Absolutely incredible! Amazing ambience, amazing service, food was phenomenal.
Lisa
Service was friendly. but the wait for take away coffees was a bit too long. Also, my long macchiato was essentially a small cafe latte. Photo attached is what my coffee looked like before I took a sip. There was no creme or texture to the milk.

It’s hard to be polite and friendly when that’s not how I was treated today. When I complained that my almond milk cappuccino tasted like the coffee was burnt and the milk had split. The young man who made it told me that’s the way almond milk goes. No I’ve had hundreds and only a few horrible ones like today. I was not offered a refund when I left it on the counter I was offered a cup of coffee as I’d had a mug but it looked like I’d drank some but I didn’t it had over an inch of froth. I had two sips and it left a horrible taste in my mouth till I went to the lorna cafe in ftg where they make an awesome almond milk cappuccino. I won’t be back.
Elizabethmpederson
They catered to my meal requesting, basically a meal of just the extras with no issue. My food then came out beautifully and there was plenty of it. I often find places give you hardly anything when you order extras but this place was on it.<br/>To top it off the food was delicious.<br/>Would be back granted I can get a table

I have been to this cafe twice now and both times have been a horrible experience. Both times my order was “lost” or “misplaced” after I had sat for roughly 45 minutes waiting for my food. After the first experience of this happening I decided to give them another go with exactly the same thing happening. The staff didn’t seem to care at all so both times I walked out. <br/><br/>I cannot comment on the food or coffee due to the poor service never giving me a chance to try any of it.
GoodFood4Me
Had brunch here with two friends. The atmosphere is lovely and the gardens gorgeous. The name of the cafe gives you the impression that there would be a wide variety of wholesome salads and other meals to choose from, but I found the menu quite limited. I ended up reluctantly ordering a beef burger for $18 which I only half ate. It was dry and tasteless. My friends ordered lentil soup which they thought was average. It is quite expensive overall, a small iced chocolate costing $8 and a mug latte $5. I even had to ask for more milk as the level was quite low in the cup when served.
Jarrod Crew
Lovely setting and delicious food, every time I've been however the barista's have managed to cause the soy milk to seperate, leaving it tasting overly bitter and with a slightly chunky texture. Otherwise a good time!

Beautiful old establishment that was once owned by a doctor. Didn’t even know it was there until I was trying to do a ‘U’ turn to come back down from Belgrave - WELL WHAT A FIND!!<br/><br/>Felt like you were stepping back in time, lovely fireplace and welcoming staff. I had the smoked salmon with eggs special. Beautiful salmon but my eggs were cooked too much so not runny but they were still lovely. Wilted spinach was divine. Loved the touch of the pickled onion!! My partner had the omelette which he said was very good.<br/><br/>The fresh carrot and ginger and?? Juice was fantastic.<br/><br/>We will return to try the dinner menu as it sounds lovely. Cake selection plus local chocolates looked enticing plus they have a great old wooden bar. Well worth a visit.

This spacious cafe has most dietary needs covered (vegan, vegetarian and gluten free) without compromising on variety or flavour. With a large specials menu, the food is super fresh and constantly changing. Meat lovers are not forgotton with plenty of options including an all day breakfast menu. I had the prawn and snapper risotto which was a generous serve and full of flavour ($26). Leave room for the fresh cakes or old-style berry crumble. A great spot for a Sunday lunch with family that won't break the bank.

A fantastic coffee, Staff were extremely friendly. I look forward to visiting again.  I have always wanted to visit this cafe since it looks inviting from the exterior, I was not disappointed!  Highly recommended!

Stopped by here after exploring the Dandenong ranges.<br/><br/> It’s a different and interesting place and it actually works well. I loved their home made chai latte and we also had a slice of the cheesecake which was yummy.

Apart from the amazing setting/scenery, my friend and i had a terrible experience here yesterday. <br/><br/>Our order was taken 20 minutes after sitting down and only when we chased them up. We requested water politely and were provided one glass and it took us asking twice and an extra 15 minutes to get a second glass. We waiting 45 minutes for our bread with dip to arrive and our mains arrived at the same time however we were not given cutlery to eat with. Again, this took two attempts and another 15 minutes to get. As i sat with my friend, we watched the people around us and they all had the same expressions on their faces which is quite unfortunate as the prices are not on the cheap end. <br/><br/>Overall, we had a memorable experience but for the wrong reasons and were extremely unimpressed with the woeful service.

We drove pass the cafe today and stop by by the sign . Couldn't believe that we missed this beautiful cafe since we are quite often in the area . It's a great place, the cafe is located in a beautiful building , lovely outdoor dining area with good food . The lovely young lady who was our waitress is very friendly. Thank you. Good coffee, love the chicken avocado Turkish bread , and the pasta was delicious. We will definitely come back for tea soon .

We were overcharged by about $7. This took away from our initially lovely experience of their restaurant.<br/>------------------------------------

Ok. By now everyone knows about the lovely ambience this cafe has to offer. Sadly that's about it. Yes, my BLT was fresh and tasty and my coffee (when it finally arrived ) was good, but the service was terrible! 3 times I've been here and I'm not giving them another chance. The wait staff are NOT friendly and very slack. After we ate it took them 20min to clear the table and not once did they come and ask if we wanted another coffee or if we were interested in looking at the desert menu. Someone needs to educate the staff members that they are in the hospitality industry. Unfortunately I'll never know if they improve.
SuzLovesFood
Beautiful building set in lovely surroundings with great seating available inside and out. Seems it is a dog friendly cafe when seated outside. For all of these reasons they get 1.5 stars, but the menu, expensive pricing and the atrocious, unfriendly wait staff failed to impress. I have been to this cafe on three occasions (as the people I was meeting like to go there). On each occasion the service was appalling! <br/>If I am paying premium prices for a small meal I at least expect good service. Alas that is not the case at this cafe. I will insist on going to one of the many other cafes on offer in this lovely part of the Dandenong Ranges next time.

What a delight to find Earthly Pleasures! Beautiful building set back from the road in garden of mature trees. Terrific menu: the Vietnamese chicken salad was awesome and the baked cheesecake amongst the best. A shout out to the friendly staff. I'm sure we will be back!

My son took me there on Friday for breakfast. The food was great. Lovely setting and the staff were wonderful. Definitely go again. Really comfortable and welcoming.
Jo The Fairy
A relaxing place to sit and read a book, do some drawings or think about life. The menu it's a little bit pricey but they have vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options which is good. Lovely atmosphere.
Andrew Wilson
Its pretty average. Very small limited menu.<br/>All. Not really what I would call restaurant food.<br/>If you are a vegetarian or vegan you will probably love it but.<br/>Coffee was good
Foodie4Melb
Stopped in for coffee. Accommodating staff and beautiful grounds. Coffee a little bitter bit their menu looked great for cakes, just wish I hadve been hungry.
Greenplategirl
Can't fault the place, has always been a favourite when nearby. Lovely place for a cosy breakfast by the fire in winter. Great atmosphere & love the menu.
Sib
I love this place. Coffee is always good, there are always vegan food and cake options and the staff are friendly - the owner always remembers me and asks how I'm going. A great spot to study as the tables are big and the atmosphere is great to catch up with friends, or do some reading.
Kim
Bit overpriced, but I loved my vegan mushroom burger and vegan raspberry coconut muffin! It was a bit of a wait to get the food as well. To make it more worth it I think the burger should come with a salad or chips or something.
William Kwan
I've been here hungover many a times and the staff have always been super friendly with quality coffees and food. Specials are always great and the juices are a life saver. My only nitpick is that from my experiences coming here the coffee can vary a bit depending on who is behind the machine so perhaps another gun barista is in order but that aside I would say this is the best place to get a breakfast/lunch on a weekend trip down in belgrave.
EmmDee
What a little gem of a spot. Loved the garden/terrace setting and building. Whilst we had to chase up two forgotten coffees, the positives made up for this: ethically sourced ingredients, vegan options, terrific water filtered decaf, friendly staff and good (but not extensive) menu options. Would definitely return.

Very average over priced food. After having a pleasant experience <br/>previously we returned to take friends with us. The food was only just <br/>OK and the staff were unfriendly. The prices over the top ($15.50 for a <br/>BLT, and an extra $3 to add icecream to a dessert). I sent back half my <br/>dessert, as it tasted stale and dry. No comment from unsmiling staff <br/>member. Despite the beautiful building and surroundings we won't be <br/>back.

What a beautiful setting! When I first saw this place I thought the food was going to cost a bomb! It was not only reasonable but was so delicious! The menu caters for all types of dietary requirements! We ordered the tofu scramble and the mushroom burger! Everything was perfect and the portions were huge! A charming place to take friends to impress!
Yasi
This is the cafe to be even if  just for the vibe and settings of it. The cafe is in a historical building. We sat inside and I loved the vibe of the place. You can also sit outside in the garden which seemed as impressive. The coffee and the cake we had were fine (we didn't try the food as we were there before going for a hike).  Staff are polite and friendly.

I barely ever write reviews but have been prompted after THREE bad experiences at Earthly Pleasures. Gave them a two more chances to rectify their problems to no avail. The food and coffee is quite good, but their service is lacking by their 'mature & experienced' staff. First occasion I wasn't served for a good 30 mins before having to walk to the counter to ask for help. Then waited 45 minutes for my cold scramble eggs and mushrooms to come out. Obviously forgotten about. I was given a 10% discount. Second occasion I was given the wrong food and told that it was what I ordered... Pretty sure I didn't get confused between eggs and a focaccia. And today, took a friend there to enjoy the nice surroundings. Asked to pay with my AMEX as they are signed up to the AMEX Shop Small program and was refused. Furthermore the owner can be rude and very unhelpful. Last time I visit this establishment and would definitely recommend a multitude of other great cafes in Belgrave that are cheaper with better food instead of... i.e The Blacksmith, Bensons etc...

To start off with I would like to point out that the venue is exceptionally gorgeous (inside and out) . Beautiful atmosphere and lovely old building. <br/><br/>Although we had to wait a while to order and even longer for our coffee to arrive which by the way mine ( espresso) was sitting on the bench waiting for the other coffees to be made ( latte and cappuccino) so mind ended up being cold upon arrival, so had another made for me . The coffee was a great blend though <br/>Note to Barista: Always make the espresso last. <br/><br/>We ordered our breakfast which took ages to come out . My eggs were over cooked ( I asked for over easy ) the others had poached and they too were over cooked . It's nice to have a runny egg ! <br/><br/>Would I go back ?? Probably yes just to give them another chance .

For all my years of living in the hills, I have only been here once, when I was a teenager. I couldn't quite remember what the place was like but I had heard good things so thought I would head here today for a impromptu lunch with the husband. Very glad I did, what a lovely place. The gardens and setting are lovely, the atmosphere is so cosy, more like being in someone's home that a cafe. They had the fire going which was great and all of the staff are friendly, approachable and attentive. Really broad range of healthy and organic meals, breakfast until 3pm which is my kind of breakfast. Coffee was great too. Loved it, will be popping in on a regular basis.

Every experience I've had here has been great. Such a picture perfect setting, friendly staff and great coffee's and sweets. The food here is also pretty great. While the menu is not extensive, everything that's on there is yum! Plenty of healthy options as well as treats and definitely vegan friendly :)
Andries Van Wyk
Though this cafe, inside a historic building, has a great look and vibe, it is not really cozy and quite expensive. Portions and cups are small with large tags. Though I can see it may appeal to some, unfortunately its doesn't suit me.
Luke Mitrousis
What a great lunch it was! I ordered the chickpea and sweet potato burger, it was stop on. The service was great, so to was the atmosphere. I can't forget to mention the Circa 1930's historical house that had such grandeur. Well done guys keep up the good work.
Ray
Came here for a lovely brunch.<br/><br/>The location is beautiful, the place is so elegant and the whole property had a classical feeling. The front and back yard is a good place to have a coffee and the inside makes you feel like you were here 60 years ago.<br/><br/>While the building it self is immaculate, the food was albeit tasty but overall nothing special. The servings were big and the service was quick. The amount of choice was limited and doesn't stand up to the awe from the cafe.
Chris Turner
This is a special place. First off, the setting and atmosphere are nothing short of stunning. The staff are also warm, professional and efficient. It really is an earthly pleasure to come here!<br/><br/>Turning to the food, what we ate was fine and the coffee was pretty good, but neither were as impressive as the setting. But it kind of doesn't matter. Just being here gives your scrambled eggs on toast a sense of occasion!
Andrew T
My favourite cafe in the Dandenongs. The bluestone building and grounds, including a terrace for outside dining, are magnificent. Inside the decor is cosy, with an open fireplace, artwork on display and a spacious dining area. This cafe caters well for vegetarians and vegans, and their splendid scrambled tofu would have to be their signature breakfast dish. The service is friendly and welcoming. Coffee is made well. A must-try if you are in the area.
Leanne
Went in mid week for breakfast service was slow waitress not very enthusiastic, the food was ok the coffee was nice..<br/>Tables and chairs need a good clean and make over ...
Nikki
The place has a lovely building, but the food is average, that's if the waitresses get your order correctly; the waitresses also have too much attitude and are rude. There is one thing expected of a restaurant, to be pleasant and welcoming, get your order right, remember to prepare it and then politely serve your food - this place failed on all these grounds.
Lucy
Hands down, one of the best veggie burgers I have ever eaten in my life! The staff were super nice and helpful when it came to endless list of questions about the menu, and the restaurant is extremely accommodating to any dietary needs (the menus and special boards feature symbols to help customers)! My friend and I ended up here after just missing the order time at The Laughing Owl, which is just across the road but everything happens for a reason and I'm glad we ended up here! Even on a busy Sunday afternoon in Belgrave, we were still able to get a seat indoors (the restaurant was almost completely packed) upstairs, on their balcony area, which has the cutest view of Belgrave's Main Street. I ordered the chickpea and sweet potato burger on the focaccia bread, which was very filling as it was a larger portion than I expected! My friend ordered the vegan tacos, which I believe was on the special board, and was amazed at how identical (and better) they tasted to the regular mince tacos she remembers! I can't recommend this place enough, seriously; huge portions, brilliant food, caring staff, large floor space (perfect for big family lunches) and not to mention beautiful interior decor and stunning, colourful gardens outside! You need to check this place out!

For Mother's Day I went to Earthly Pleasures with my boyfriend's family. I will strongly suggest taking a look out the back of the cafe - there's a really pretty garden out there. The front garden of the cafe also has a fountain. The building of this cafe was built in the 1930s. You feel that you are in a medieval castle. <br/><br/>Earthly Pleasures is an ethically sourced cafe. This means that if you are worried how food is sourced in cafes, you wouldn't have to have this worry at Earthly Pleasures. Their menu has a lot of organic, gluten free and vegetarian options. <br/><br/>The menu though also has quite an alternative feel to it. Where else would you get a Kangaroo burger with Vegemite and cheese or scrambled tofu? It's definitely not a place for someone who doesn't like interesting or unique food combinations. My boyfriend struggled to find something on the menu he would like to order - I even showed him the menu a few days before we went to give him more time to decide. Haha he was almost tempted to get the spaghetti on the children's menu. In the end he chose the Chicken focaccia. He didn't like the dressing that was put on his lettuce. He said it was average. <br/><br/>I ordered the Warm Vege Salad. This had vegetables such as roast pumpkin, mushroom and capsicum with lettuce, pesto and goats cheese. I was very happy with the amount of goats cheese that was on my salad. It was very generous. The vegetables were very nice. I would definitely order it again. <br/><br/>My boyfriend's brother ordered the chicken 'burger'. Honestly it didn't look like any burger I've seen before! Unfortunately my boyfriend's brother didn't see the bit on the menu that said the burger was available in a wrap or focaccia. In fact I don't even think I heard the waitress ask him if he would prefer to have the burger in a wrap or in a focaccia. If the waitress had asked I think he might not have ordered it. He ended up enjoying it but he did find it a bit strange and it was difficult for him to eat it. He couldn't just pick it up with his hands. Also the burger did consist of a lot of lettuce. <br/><br/>All up I was pretty happy with my meal and the overall atmosphere of Earthly Pleasures.

It's a pleasure coming and eating at this Cafe. <br/>The vibe and atmosphere is calming and pleasant as are the wait staff. <br/>Food is always fresh. The field mushroom is cooked to just right and the garden vegetables are very fresh and crisp. The homemade Beetroot relish has the right balance. <br/>The vegan burger is presented beautifully on the plate. Tasty and fresh. <br/>Highly recommend you visit this lovely place. <br/>With various areas to sit, I'm sure you will find a comfy spot to relax and enjoy your meal.

First time visit after strong recommendations. Ambience is charming old school with a little historic flair. Coffee was excellent 5/5. Food was really good, good size and tasty. Service was pretty good too. Overall a nice experience and will be back again.

Came here today for afternoon tea. Got a nice spot outside in the sun. Unfortunately the kitchen closes at 3pm so we just missed out on the food but we had to try the sweets on offer. Everyone enjoyed their cakes / icecreams. <br/>Drinks (hot/cold) were all good. <br/>Service, pretty average. No water offered or brought out to us when we got there, we had to get up and ask and still bring a bottle over ourselves. <br/>While sitting we were told we had to pay the bill in 10 minutes, when we asked for it, we were told it couldn't be printed, seems a bit odd, how does one check prices/Items?! <br/>Would I go go back, prob not.

Really enjoy Earthly Pleasures every time I come here! The staff are always extremely attentive and lovely and the food is unique and delicious 😊

Omnomnom! Cannot fault the food, the vegan options are absolutely divine. We had tofu scramble, banana and cranberry bread and a vegie wrap. Venue is gorgeous. Service could have been friendlier but the food came out quickly and the portions were very generous. Exremely pleased!
GirlfromCeylon
Loved the place, but the food was nothing to write home about. Two friends and I stopped here yesterday for lunch. Two of us ordered the smoked salmon salad and the Ceaser, while the other ordered taco's. The ingredients looked and tasted fresh although the flavours were a bit bland and could've been better. Service was good and the ambience was nice. Will be back again for dinner sometime soon.

Came in here the other day, love the fresh juices and coffee, I wasn't so hungry but their little snack are great with a really relaxed feel I will be back

Visited back in August before spending the afternoon at 1000 steps. The cafe is set in a beautiful rustic building and has a very spacious interior wiht lovely decor. The cabinet near the front is filled with tempting sweet treats.<br/><br/>Don't quite remember the exact dishes as it has been a while since our meal, but from memory we all enjoyed our food. The highlight for me was the scrumptious slice of upside down cake I had for dessert. It was rich and decadent, with a delicious crunchy topping. Keen to return to try more sweet treats.

A cafe set up in a rustic, old stone building at the foot of the Dandenongs. The setting is gorgeous with plenty of outdoor seating, perfect for warm sunny mornings. My poached eggs on sourdough bread with avocado and grilled halloumi was delicious and presented very nicely. Good coffee and nice staff as well. Overall great experience and will definitely be back again!

I love this cafe!! Popped in on a delightful sunny spring day it was so lovely! We chose to sit inside as most of outside was taken and busy with mums and toddlers. The food was scrumptious! Ordered the garlic and thyme roasted wild mushroom served with rocket, goats cheese, salad and toasted bread lathered with Beetroot tapenade. The flavours combination was fantastic! The mushroom was really well done and the goats cheese just added that something else to the dish. Finished off the meal with a really good chai latte. Would highly recommend Earthly Pleasures. Have eaten here multiple times and never been disappointed.
World In A Bite
The food was so so ... It's quite busy , so it's hard to get an attention from the waiters especially if you're seated on the second floor. Do go for the antique cosy atmosphere though.

I used to love this place, the food was fantastic and great ambience. I took some overseas visitors today and unfortunately was disappointed. The chicken pie on ratatouille was cold and the ratatouille oily. We asked for it to be heated and after 10 minutes it came back just as cold. The open steak sandwich was greasy and the steak tough. I'm guessing they have a new chef or something but I won't be back

This place is beautiful! From the beautiful flora to the local art hanging on the walls. This is the perfect place for coffee catch up with a friend or a cozy lunch date with a special someone. Wait staff are pretty friendly and service is pretty good all round!

Beautiful cafe in the Dandenongs! The setting is lovely with a cosy authentic feel and the food is incredible, the produce is locally sourced which makes for a fresh delicious meal every time. Pick up some of the local products on the way out to continue to treat yourself at home :)

A great cafe! I had a beautiful breakfast here recently. Had the poached eggs and smoked salmon. Was just beautiful and service was fantastic. I will be back to try other menu options again. Highly recommend! :-)

It's got the looks but lacks the substance.. My sisters and I walked in for lunch, we were greeted warmly by a waitress and shown to a table. We waited patiently for our order to be taken. The food came out promptly. I had roast veggie focaccia, it was OK but lacked seasoning. Then it was as if we were shrouded in an invisibility cloak. No one came near us. All the other guests seemed well taken care of. It was so weird. My sister had to get up and go to the counter and order our cuppa's.
Liz.douma
Elisabeth. I love your coffee but it would be good to have a fruit bread on your menu.
Grant
Average at best. Scrambled tofu and coffee were ok. They need to add that the scrambled tofu comes with buttered toast on the menu. No indication of it on the menu whatsoever.
Madeleine.bradette
Exquisite EVERYTHING. Brought by a dear friend who used to live in Belgrave, I was positively delighted by the loveliness of this place. Even before you enter the dining room, your senses are geared towards yumminess at the welcoming stone path and surrounding gardens.<br/>Once inside, the din of cups, cutlery, chatter et cetera fills you with anticipation of whatever treat you're there to consume.<br/>Each of the happy helpers with which i interacted provided fabulously friendly, effortlessly efficient service.<br/>I'M SMITTEN ! and soo eager for the next occasion to return for more !

I wish I could say I've actually tasted the food...but I haven't ever had the chance. As a lifetime resident of the hills I want local businesses to succeed. I have attempted 3 times over the last 2 years to be served here. Each time we go, we arrive without acknowledgment from staff. After waiting awkwardly for a few minutes we find ourselves a menu & a table. Each time we have sat for approx. 20 minutes with no interaction with staff. After this time, we leave to find another venue. Disappointing

I want to like this place but..... ...erratic service lets it down. Can't fault the food we ordered and the staff were polite and friendly. However, four of the five members of our party had their orders brought out at the same time, whilst the fifth was left to wonder whether he'd been forgotten. After waiting some minutes, he got up from the table to query what had happened to his meal. It was delivered very shortly after he'd sat back down, which led us to conclude it had been sitting somewhere in the kitchen, forgotten. We'd also ordered two soft drinks which, again, weren't produced until I got up (halfway through our meal) to remind staff we were still waiting for them. FInally, we'd told our waitress in advance that we'd be ordering coffees after our meals, but this seemed to get forgotten about too: our table was cleared in two stages by different staff but no-one came back to check whether we were interested in ordering anything else. Waiting staff didn't seem in short supply and the lunch-time crowd were thinning out by the time we ordered, so busyness doesn't seem to be the issue here. It's a shame but we won't be hurrying back to Earthly Pleasures...until the service enables this cafe to live up to its name/claim.
Fire And Tea
Earthly Pleasures Café is a cosy café and sets the scene for a perfect brunch. What makes Earthly Pleasures special is its historic relevance to the area. Previously, Belgrave Manor was one of The Dandenongs’ first doctor’s surgeries and later a school. It was built in 1931 and heritage listed under the name of Taunus House. The building later became a creative hub, offering gallery space for Melbourne artists. Now, hungry guests come to brunch on an array of treats while being warmed by a crackling fire. Earthly Pleasures still retains its creative vein, and hosts artwork from local artists keen

...replete with art works adorning the walls and a beautiful open fire. All food is organic and it is a place you can settle into...

Nothing to complain about. My partner and I found this place today. We were both very impressed with not only the atmosphere but the incredible food and service. I ordered a vegetarian focaccia and inquired whether I could add chicken. The man serving us said it may cost a fair bit extra so I thought I'd go without. He came back to our table after taking our order to tell me it would only cost 4.50 to add. I was happy with this response as I did not request the price, and was more than happy to have it without as the focaccia did already sound amazing. However, I went with the extra chicken and it was fantastic. My partner ordered from the breakfast menu. He found his meal was delicious, and insisted we return to this place. Both my partner and I were fascinated by the beautiful architecture of the building and it's history. Not only will I be recommending this place but I will be returning! Thank you to the staff, special mention to the guy with the beard and the man bun who looked after us. Incredible service and accommodating to our needs.

Will definitely go again. Food and atmosphere is great. Better coffee can be found elsewhere as with the service. <br/>Atmosphere 5/5<br/>Service 4/5<br/>Food 5/5<br/>Coffee 3/5

Staffing problems perhaps?. Went for lunch today after being recommended that this place was great. Found the staff ignored us after sitting there for 10+ minutes glasses and water was dumped on the table, no mention of will be back to take your order, about 20-30 minutes later managed to grab a waitress and asked her to take our order, we then waited about 20 minutes before I asked what happened to our drink order, this arrived shortly after, our meals took well over an hour to arrive. Did not find any of the staff friendly or efficient. Food was good and loved the history of the home. Most probably would not return.

Awesome atmosphere, awesome food and amazing staff. Attended my nieces wedding function (canapés and cake) Saturday evening. What a fantastic restaurant/café. Sitting out on the front balcony, watching the children play on the lawn as the adults relaxed drinking wine, water and whatever we fancied - brilliant. Then of course the food- stuffed mushrooms, satay chicken, fish bits, samosas, mini chicken rolls, arancini balls to die for, and so much more. All cooked to perfection - and waiting staff that seemed to love their job. Glasses were never left empty and the food just kept coming... they remembered who was a vegetarian and catered to their needs. Please do yourself a favour and visit this wonderful café soon... you won't regret it! Ohh and the toilets.. clean and spacious.

Went today for lunch with sister and mr2yo. Had the special of field mushrooms, goats cheese, rocket and pesto sourdough and poached egg. I asked to swap it to scrambled eggs but had to be charged almost $3 extra cause they had to replace the one poached egg with three scrambled eggs- which I thought was slightly excessive but paid it anyway as it was for my son. We also ordered the tofu scrambled. Overall the dishes were both delicious and really hit the spot. The servings were good sized, but prices are what you would expect in the inner city suburbs. The setting was gorgeous and on a beautiful winters day like today we could sit outside here we enjoyed the sunshine and my son could run around. The coffees we ordered were really good and smooth. Overall a pleasent experience.

We quite liked this place. We had a nice breakfast there. The coffee was nice but could have been a bit hotter. Was a bit expensive but the food was good. Nice fire going. Would def go again but the carpet needs to go!!!

Unimpressed. Nice venue, gardens are lovely and the building is interesting. Below average service. Took the waitress about 20 minutes to take our order (and only because she was called over), and no offer of coffees when we sat down. Cleaned up and didn't offer anything else - coffee or bill. So we left. <br/><br/>Breakfast menu is fairly limited and while the specials look great, they were a bit of a mixed bag. One was quite nice, the other well intentioned but poorly executed (soggy, doughy, and undercooked fritters, mountains of rocket). <br/><br/>For the price I'd expect better.

Lovely atmosphere. Love this restaurant, good friendly service and nice food. This is a regular place for me and my friend to have a lunch and always enjoy the meal and coffee. The old historic house is beautiful and the grounds rustic, just nice and relaxing .

Best Breakfast in Belgrave. Hills in a nut shell. Beautiful historic building? Check.<br/>Delicious organic food? Check.<br/>Relaxed and welcoming staff? Check.<br/><br/>To those who wish this was more like Melbourne's hatted restaurants, sorry to disappoint, but Earthly Pleasure's is humble, hillsy and homely.<br/><br/>Their home made cakes and desserts are lovely and their iced caramel is devine.<br/><br/>Love it.

Came to this lovely rustic Cafe after the 1000 Steps Trail - a perfect way to finish off a beautiful day. Would definitely come back :)

We've taken interstate visitors there on more than one occasion and it's always lovely. The staff were friendly and helpful and given the first time we ate there the cafe was overflowing with diners I was impressed. Great coffee and food.
Barley And Hops
Great building. Lunch was a bit hit and miss. My food was good but it was a nice simple dish, my partner on the other hand ordered one of the specials and it had way too many herbs. All you could taste was Dill and Mint. I'm not sure how a chef could think this was good, so I'm a bit dubious about his/her skills. I recommend ordering simple stuff that can't be messed up, fortunately most of the menu is simple. Waitress forgot everything we told her which made the service poor. Liked the beautiful building but the garden could use some work. Best of all though they did have a good selection of craft beer!

Lunch Underwhelming. Met some friends for lunch here recently and I would have to say if it wasn't for the impressive historic building the restaurant is in, I don't see anything special about this place. Yet it was so crowded and noisy and a bit much to be inside, we opted to sit outside in the sun by the fountain which was lovely. Nothing jumped out at me from the menu and just wanting something light to eat, I ordered a chicken focaccia. When it arrived it was chicken with pesto on focaccia cut in half angled on the plate - that was it. This IS what I ordered but I was disappointed with the plainness of it, I just assumed that food served in this grand building would be of a higher calibre than a cafe - in fact why was focaccia on the menu in the first place? I am disappointed overall with the quality of hills food, I just feel they need to up their game to Melbourne standards as one of it's closest tourist destinations.

Love this place. The coffee, food and desserts were delicious and I love that they provide free range and gluten free options. Highly recommended.

An absolute personal favourite. Come here very often. Super consistent. The kitchen tries new things that always work.<br/>Quinoa porridge. Avocado and hummus on crusty toast. Love it.<br/>Coffee is consistent too.<br/><br/>But best of all, these guys resist the urge like so many cafes towards stainless steel and glass and go instead for good hilly warmth, arty flare and friendly service. Cant recommend any more highly.

Amazing food! Best bacon in Belgrave! Also really good coffee. Milk was the perfect temperature, not to hot so I burn my tongue off and can't taste the food, and the flavour was delicious.

Love it

Beware lunch ends 2.30pm. Can't review the food as didn't get to try it. The building certainly looks great. Went with my mum who really needed some food. We didn't get asked what we wanted for about 15 mins. People a minute before us got to order but our waitress told us lunch was off (this is a Sunday, do they cater for people who don't live around there?). Very inflexible and no hospitality in the way the message was conveyed. I love vego/organic food and like the idea of the place but I think either staff need more training/better attitude/extension of lunch til 3?THe place looks like it would be really friendly and community-minded but maybe it's all too cool. I have now moved to the area but am not sure about going back. Please get acts together I reckon you would get alot more return customers. We ended up going over to the cafe across the road (Green Bean? I think). Alot less glamorous but they were happy to give us some food and a smile.

(Vegan) scrambled tofu is the best scrambled tofu I've ever had. The vegan upside down cake is also scrumptious!

Reasonable - lovely garden and building but food a bit average. Daughter was impressed by the hot caramel.

Lovely building, sensational food. I love the lunch wraps. I live locally and always take city friends for lunch and they rave too. Breaky is great too and dinners just as good. I'm salivating thinking about their desserts.

Excellent. Service was fast and efficient; food fresh and on the table before I could finish 2nd page of paper! lunch on a weekday and most definately a pleasure

Scramble Tofu: AMAZING. So good.

Breakfast wonderland. This place is amazing, atmosphere and location (heritage listed building that was 'the hills' first ever doctors surgeries built in 1931 - yes i like a bit of history) coffee was farely average but would soon go there again for their amazing brekkie menu - outside courtyard is a cute place to sit n relax.

Blown away. Wandered in from the rear car park and was set for a tiny little cafe then was absolutely blown away by the magnificent building as I rounded the corner to the entrance. The staff were very friendly (9.00am on a Saturday morning) and the service was very prompt. The menu was overflowing with great breakfast options and the specials board read brilliantly (the building history in the back of the menu made for a great read and added to the experience). I opted for the Field Mushroom on Sourdough dish from the Specials board and was overjoyed with the result, it looked and tasted spectacular. Coffee was on the money too! Great experience, I will be back....... repeatedly!

Adore this place!. With an atmosphere that can't be beat and some of the best food in the hills, why go anywhere else?! We love this place and visit regularly. Yesterday we ate the tofu satay wrap - so fresh and tasty! Followed by flourless jafa cake and soy late - BLISS!
