Absolutely loved our Wednesday night dinner here at 5 Church Street. We ordered the Beef Madras Thali and the Mussels and spent the entire meal complimenting our meals to each other. My partner's Thali was awesome - beef madras, dahl, brown rice, salad, pappadums and this awesome gooey-on-the-inside-crispy-on-the-outside fritter ball that was surprisingly his favourite on the plate. I ordered the mussels which were served with a very tasty tomato sauce (quite thick and chunky), two pieces of buttered sourdough and brown rice. Gosh, it was so tasty! If I am being picky, the sauce could have been slightly thinner for mopping up with the bread but that's being super picky. It was delicious. If my partner was being picky, he'd like some roti bread but again, he loved his as it was. A bottle of shiraz and our 2 meals came to $84. I would rate the food as a 4.5 (if Zomato would let me do this!!!) but a small downgrade because of the very obvious packing up around us. There were 2 large tables and ourselves left at 7 and they started stacking chairs, collecting tableware (not ours) and drawing curtains. Close is 9pm and 7pm is still very much dinner time! I expect this just may be the way in small towns but it's not ideal when there are several diners still going. Small things that aren't even complaints from us - if we are ever in the area, this is where we'll be.

Very, very good restaurant. Relaxed, casual and easy going, but make no mistake the food is carefully thought through, with great attention to detail and delicious.
Again another local place that explores a number of cuisines simultaneously whilst maintaining the authenticity and quality throughout.
The Indian Thali was exceptional - both the lamb korma and the eggplant (especially the eggplant).
The burgers I was told by my companions were great. I tasted the chips and can tell they were hand cut from fresh potatoes and cooked in good oil - a rare delight.
The fish curry was fragrant, creamy and well balanced. And all our curry dishes came out with brown rice which, is not only healthier, but when cooked perfectly well like this, is tastier, both in flavour and texture than the white alternative.
Recommend a seat outside in the night air, nice ambience. Service is coordinated and friendly.
Also make sure you try the locally brewed alcoholic ginger beer.
Really nice place, relaxed atmosphere and good staff. Delicious food and juices, can recommend the baked eggs as well as there housemade chilli jam I think it is - that stuff is great. Will return
Best vegan pizza I've had, plus their green smoothie was incredible. If I was ever in bellingen I'd definitely come back. Staff was also so friendly, very welcoming. They also had the most amazing oat cookie(I'd drive from Brisbane just to buy that oat cookie). The establishment was also dog friendly.
Awesome, loved it. You won't be disappointed! Great coffee, great chips, great atmosphere & great staff. I wish we hadn't already eaten so could have feasted on the main menu.
Locally sourced ingredients put into delicious meals with a familiar looking menu with plenty of vego and vegan options. Friendly service tops it off. Plus some local beer choices. And a roster of live music too. This should be on your list for at least one meal if you're going through Bellingen.
Not My Bread And Butter

First up, a disclaimer: we fell in love with Bellingen.  It’s a hippy town in the hills just south of Coffs Harbour.  In hippy-town, I had ample choice of gluten-free vegan foods. My favourite meal was at 5 Church Street with it’s grungy student vibe. Here you’ll find couches, dreadlocks and amazing live music.  Although gluten-free and vegan were not marked on the menu, the waiter “pifffft” and giggled at my dietary questions and responded “this is Bellingen”.
5 Church was really something else! Aside from graciously accommodating a member of our party who's allergic to pretty much everything, and the waitress knowing the exact contents of every item on which we quizzed her, our breakfasts came out promptly, the coffee was fabulous, and all this on a busy sunny Saturday morning! Hugely impressed, we were. The fact that so much (all?) of their ingredients are organic no doubt gives their kitchen a great start too
Great breakfast. Green juice was delicious. Great outdoor seating with awesome views!
We love this cafe. Very friendly staff and fantastic food with ingredients sourced localky. Special favourite is the chocolate pie with salted caramel gelato made with buffalo milk. So light and tasty. Don't miss this little gem of a cafe.
Delights in Bellingen a foodies haven!. The desserts, the Bagels ,the amazing chips ..everything!!!! the service ,gelato,fab atmosphere, live music, film nights, locally source deliciously prepared by food loving chefs wholesomely wise!
Best coffee. Had a coffee here this morning, absolutely amazing. Just lovely. It is a local roast, with a local lady sourcing green beans from three different locations (though I can only recall PNG), and she roasts them herself. The barista was friendly, and the place had a great vibe. The meals looked a little exy for what they were, but sounded nice. Go.
We spent a few days in Bellingen and visited this cafe more than once. I can recommend te burgers and the lamb curry - which came with coconut banana!! But the chai shake kept us coming back. Good service, reasonably priced-
Great food service and venue. Not had a bad meal here and the chips are 10/10. I last tried the chickpea bowl which I couldn't fault........

Best vege burger and chips ever. One of our favourite cafes in Bellingen, alongside The Purple Carrot. Food is fresh and local, as the sign says, and is very tasty indeed. Our favourite lunch item is the vege burger, packed full of fresh tasty vege goodness. No vege patties here, just pure vegetables! Everyone has to try their awesome hand cut chips. And then wash it all down with a glass of Bellingen Brewery's Harvest ale. Staff are friendly and if you are regulars like we are, you will be remembered :) Prices are reasonable for the high quality food. Outdoor seating for those lovely sunny days and indoor seating with a cosy fireplace for those wintery days. 5 Church St is also a local entertainment venue of an evening. For us this place is the heart and soul of Bellingen.
We had a delicious breakfast this morning with my eggs holly, one of the best I've ever had!! The scrambled eggs were perfect as well!! We loved the warm fire🔥 to sit near as we enjoyed our meal
A very nice outdoor setting that really makes you feel like you're within the town whilst having breakfast, the food quality was very high and reasonably priced given portion sizes. Coffee was delicious alongside a fantastic chai. Will be back when in Bellingen, thanks for having us. @vaye.k @dooz.au
Sitting beside a lovely warm fire, eating the Spanish Omelette was amazing. We live within walking distance of this great restaurant an would Highly recommend it.

Had a really enjoyable lunch. The atmosphere was great. Staff were efficient and very friendly. Varied menu with lots of options for vegetarians.
Coffee and foods were delicious, they just always take the order wrong , we ordered 2 drink and 2 burgers. One drink was wrong and one burger was wrong
