The Woodhouse knows how to attract customers very well. From the top notch service and a variety of mouth watering dishes to the knowledgeable staff who can explain every detail of the plates, this place is a 5 stars steakhouse in my book. I particularly liked the assortment of the desserts at the end of the 5 course meal I had. Highly recommended.
Went for the meat in the window, stayed for the incredible ambiance, food and service.
The meat, as one would expect, was cooked to perfection. It was extremely delicious, tender and delicious and just exceptional in every way.
The fireplace, especially as we were right next to it, was a welcome centrepiece on a cold winter night.
The staff were attentive and knowledgeable.
No guest seemed disappointed in the quality or breadth of dishes.
Would highly recommend.
One of the best wagyu I’ve had! Good service, friendly staffs and great varieties. Very very happy! The staffs did all they could to accommodate our needs. Will definitely be back if we come Bendigo again!
Nice environment and food. Many choices for drinks. Clean toilet. Better to tell customers earlier about public holiday surcharge before ordering.
Would give them 5 stars if they got my friends order correct (but we didnt have the heart to tell them)
Arrived without a booking but were promptly seated and menus arrived straight away. We chose the lunch specials. I ordered the 3 course with a glass of wine ($50) my friend did dessert and main with wine ($4) and third friend just a main. Bread was warm and fresh, wines matched, the steaks were done perfectly however one was I fact meant to be the wagyu burger, and the dessert was beautiful fresh yet sweet. I'm not one to write much but the set menus are better value in comparison to just the normal mains but I wouldnt mind trying the speciality steaks.
Really delicious food! We ordered the burger, wagyu brisket pizza and the Rossbit which were all part of the lunch deals. Our waiter was lovely also
Fabulous! Don’t have a bad word to say. Beautiful steak, great sides, excellent service. Can’t understand how this only has a 3.9 rating, it’s a 5 star venue.
Recommend wholeheartedly. Absolutely delicious and wonderful service. Good price too. An all round delight. I can’t see how you would be disappointed, ticked all the boxes.

Thanks for the meal!
Ordered steak and a few sides.
Amazing, simply amazing. Juicy delicious steaks, amazing sides perfect lighting and ambiance. What a treat of a night! Will come back again if ever in Bendigo!!
We went there following recommendations and were not disappointed. On arrival we were greeted by a friendly member of staff and shown to our table. Two glasses of water were served immediately, always a good sign. We both ordered pizza, as recommended to us, and again we were not disappointed as both were delicious. Being well satisfied we elected to share the chocolate molten cake, lovely. We shall certainly return.
Stuck in Bendigo for business by myself on a Saturday night in the middle of winter, I was drawn to The Woodhouse by the smell of well cooked steak wafting through the night air. Luckily I was early enough that they could seat me on a single table, provided I agreed to be out in time for the 7:30 booking! The attentive waitress left me with a menu, a bottle of mineral water and a glass of wine as I soaked up the atmosphere and warmed up from the heat of the fire. I ordered a steak medium rare with baked potato and some sauces. What arrived at my table was a little slice of heaven! The streak was cooked to perfection and the sides were great as well. There was nothing to do by order another glass of the local red and tuck in!
The meal went down too easily, the time went by to quickly, and before I knew it I was back on the street, with nothing but the smell and the after taste of a great meal to remind me of my experience. Hopefully I will be back in Bendigo soon for pleasure rather than business and when I am I know where my partner and I will be eating - The Woodhouse.
This restaurant was pretty good for family dinners and it had a sort of friendly atmosphere and the staff service could be improved. The only downside of this restaurant is that the price of the food is expensive and should be a bit cheaper. The restrooms also need to be cleaned because when we went there it was dirty and very smelly. Overall this is a good restaurant for big family meals.
Took a day trip to Bendigo. This place was worth the visit. Great pizza and steak. Free glass of wine or beer with pizza for the lunch special. Our 8 yo loved his dessert. Food was beautifully presented and so delicious. Staff were friendly. Restaurant had a nice warm atmosphere.
Long drive but worth it. Came here tuesday for my birthday lunch to try the steak. Definitely quality..... i also had a pizza takeaway and loved it!
The waiter was very friendly and helpful too😁
Amazing amazing!!!
This is our first time here and from the service to the food, it’s 5 stars. Our waiter is extremely attentive, thorough and recommended us delicious dishes!
The food is probably the best steak and sides I’ve ever had. We had the rib eye to share and it was just enough. The highlight was definitely the cauliflower side! That was delicious!!! 👍
Overall, great warm place with amazing service from the staffs! Highly recommend
Dined here on occasions quite a many times. Always a good experience with good steaks. Will be back during my next visit to Bendigo. Looking forward to it.
The third rating of a 5 I have given in over 200 reviews, Great service, great food and reasonably priced considering the ingredients used and quality service.Entering off the street the first thing you see is the meat safe with beef aging before your eyes.Attentive service by more then one staff member ready to refill the glass or pick up that dropped knife. The tartare served with caper berries was great as were all the dishes, rib eye, with bone marrow gravy, the side of mushroom and a lovely burger. An extensive cocktail and wine list will please.

Absolutely the best restaurant in Bendigo!
I’ve been here several times and never disappointed.
Not to mention how lovely the staff are.
I have newborn twins they made me feel welcome even with my two newborn twins with me.
The lunch express set menu is so great value! 50 for three course and comes with a drink. The wagyu steak was great! Well cooked and it’s so so so yum! The staffs are super nice, highly recommend this place and look forward to my next visit.
Excellent steak and one of the best chocolate cake (it's almost like a souffle really) that I have ever had. The rostbiff cut was cooked medium rare and served with two condiments, which unfortunately I forgot what they were. We also had meatball pizza which was good too, but the sour tomatoes was a bit overwhelming for me. The Daylesford lemon lime bitter was also excellent for summer. If there is anything to complain about, it's probably the price. Not cheap but I think it is worth it, especially if you only indulge yourself once in a while. This place is also one of the busiest place for dinner, so booking a spot in advance is a good idea.
This place is definitely a restaurant for serious meat lovers. The wagyu steak I had was beautifully cooked with charcoal grill. Definitely would return!
Good menu, great service. One for meat lovers in particular, but many good veggie / chicken / seafood options. Excellent desserts. Will definitely return.
Amazing!! Simply amazing! Have been for lunches and dinners and it never disappoints. Food is magnificent and they are great at recommending matching wines!
On a day trip to Bendigo & used Zomato to find someplace to eat & The Woodhouse was first on the list. We were drawn by the 4/5 rating & description of pizza, burger & steaks.
We walked in & it was much nicer than we'd expected for a pizza & burgers joint! But not at all too cool for itself. The large open fire was a very welcome touch on a cold day. Menu has a fantastic array of options & made choosing difficult. Being lunch time, we both decided on the Wagyu burgers with hand cut chips.
Burgers were so good I felt sad when it was all gone! The beef mince was thick & full, not much fat in it, just all meat. Sauces were a flavoursome mix with the beef & fillings + the chips & homemade tomato relish were gone too fast.
Dessert we shared the Mint Chocolate soufflé and again had a winner.
Staff are that perfect combination of welcoming and attentive, yet quick and unobtrusive.
I'd definitely go back and try some of their steaks & wines.
Omg couldn't fault the food, tasty, attractive and lots to choose from !
The service was amazing, prompt, attentive and very friendly, special mention goes to Liam for his amazing service. Atmosphere was warm & relaxing although l think interior could do with some updating.
Will definitely be going back to The Woodhouse for sure !!
A wonderful experience, staff were knowledgeable about the menu and were attentive. The food was plated beautifully and the dessert platter is a must have if you want to try a bit of everything!
Meat, meat and more meat. This is a haven for meat lovers. Wide range of locally sourced steaks. Wood fired pizzas are available as well. This place is decorated akin to a cosy hunting lodge. Good professional service
Verdict: White Opal
Nice interior with a fire place. Staff attentive & accomodating. Beef was quality & juicy. Wagyu had that melt in your mouth succulent flavours though the Paris butter we ordered were too oily together with wagyu & kinda overpowered the meatiness of that dish. T-bone steak was perfectly grilled to our liking. Would be nice if has some side salad or something or like a citrusy salad to cleanse the palate. Beef carpaccio was the best. Has potato crips to give the crunch texture thus has the juiciness & flavour of wagyu. Felt a bit cold in the area we were seated & the price can be a bit heavy for the wallet. Overall comparing price, food taste, quality, service to the price gives an overall score of 4.2*
First time here, my partner has been talking highly about this place. For entrée we ordered carpaccio, it was simple and not too heavy for an entree. For main I had eye fillet, the medium rare eye fillet was not evenly cooked, one side was medium another half was medium rare 🤷🏻♀️, so was abit disappointed. My partners steak was over cooked too. We ordered onion ring, salad and Brussels sprouts for sides. My favorite was Brussels sprouts, the onion rings were okay. Overall I expected more as the overcooked meat was a let down but would definitely go back and give them a second chance.
Has to be my favorite restaurant. Went there the other day and had the pizza with wild mushrooms, San Marzano tomatoes etc. it was incredible, one of the best pizzas I've ever tasted. The interior is so cozy with open fire crackling nearby. Great friendly service as well. Already thinking about our next visit there, cannot wait.
I love dining at the Woodhouse. The food is always at a high standard and the service is friendly and professional.
We are really lucky that Bendigo has a restaurant like this. Keep up the high quality standards.
Good restaurant for steak. They use special cooking method for steak, which is with wood fire.
It makes the surface of steak a little scorched and taste a little bitter. My friends felt it is a little strange but I do like it. By the way, the homemade sauce came with the steak is amazing!
Had the pizza special for lunch here today. It was delicious and the ambience was relaxed and cozy. Very affordable too. Will definitely be coming back.
I was in Bendigo for work & did a quick search for somewhere to eat & Woodhouse was first on the list. We turned up without a booking & could only grab a table in their courtyard; which was still a lovely, covered and enclosed area.
While there were lots of delicious choices on the menu, my colleague and I both ordered the fish special, which was barramundi with a noodle salad, prawn cracker and a chili dipping sauce. The only problem was that it was so good I could keep eating it this way passed the point of being full. We both got a healthy steak of fish, which was soft & juicy. Everything on the plate was amazing!
Considering how fantastic our mains were, we both decided to try a dessert. I ordered the The Snickers (caramel parfait, dacquoise, milk chocolate mousse, salted peanut caramel, and chocolate swirls) while my colleague got The Woodhouse Pavlova (pavlova, poached lychee, raspberry purée, coconut log, blood orange, and lime jelly). Again, faultless. My dessert was not too sweet and was enough to satisfy my sweet tooth without making me feel ill. My colleague was also very impressed with her pavlova.
And I'm so, so glad we came here. This was honestly the nicest food I've eaten in ages, and very well priced for the quality. Typically living in my Melbournean food-bubble, I definitely wasn't expecting Bendigo to have such an amazing restaurant. I would highly recommend this place to anyone heading in this direction and would consider the extended drive to be able to enjoy such a phenomenal meal again.
First time here so we tried the Angus Experience. It was delicious. One of the best steaks i have ever had. Service was great and staff knew their menu well. We will definitely be coming back here.
Totally enjoyed my first dining experience at The Woodhouse. The meal and wine was perfect and great service. If you haven't tried Chimichurri Sauce. Give it a go.
Wow it was a great and perfect dining experience we haven't had for a while. We had a really good time enjoying their nice service and amazing food. FLAWLESS. Highly recommend.
Good quality, good speed, good attitude. For example, four of us come to eat and one of the starter dish is ordered and shared, they come and serve the dish with equally 4 parts.
This place was outstanding , nothing to criticise here !! Flawless all the way . Food , ambiance and staff top points ! Would drive almost 2hours to the Woodhouse anytime
Steaks are outstanding, I had the 220gram 600 day grain fed wagyu eye fillet which was one of the best steaks I've ever had. At $56 you'd expect exceptional quality - which it was. Service however was a letdown and the staff don't display the same warmth as the restaurant. If the service matched the food quality I'd be giving a 5. The 4 of us all chose the 600 day grain fed wagyu porterhouse and eye fillet options, we all enjoyed our steaks and side selections. For dessert we shared peanut butter and chocolate fondant and a creme brûlée. I felt that the poached pear and biscotti detracted from the brûlée and weren't complimentary, I would have preferred more of the creme brûlée as this is a dessert in its own right. Go here for a splurge on good quality steak.
My husband took me here on our first date ever!!! It was awesome, food was great! Service amazing and i really loved the dessert taster, was a delicious and wonderful experience, will be going again for sure next time im in town!
We had dinner here and it was fantastic. Both the beetroot & pumpkin pizza and the confit duck pizza special were cooked to perfection. Service was friendly, attentive and fast, especially for a busy Saturday night. Only suggestion for improvement would be one or two non-pizza vego options.
Not many mains to suit a vegetarian but the vegetables sides were amazing. Great for the meat lover. Great service despite being very busy
Everything is absolutely fantastic. Service is perfect, the ambiance is great (if you are in a group of 2, try to sit in the front room), and the smell of the wood smoke in the restaurant is divine. The charcuterie platter is easily the best I have ever had. If you go, you must order it. The steaks were perfect - cooked exactly to order, rested well, everything you want really. Unfortunately, the steaks are no longer accompanied by bone marrow which I was looking forward to. They come with a small piece of dauphinoise potato and your sauce of choice (or mustards). You can also choose a side, we chose the pumpkin with goats cheese and the mixed greens. Everything was delicious. We agreed we would travel to Bendigo again just to have another meal here. It's that good. Booking essential.
Incredible food. It's clear the owner and chefs have passion in the kitchen with there selection of organic local produce along with the way it's put together. The wood fire in winter along with the crisp flavors from the wood grill make it a must visit. Service is perfect and beautifully walks the line between under and over servicing. Spot on.
Could be argued that the food is quite pricey, however the quality of the produce and the way the food is cooked and presented is absouletly worth the money paid in my opinion. The steaks we had were cooked to perfection, presented in a modern and elegant fashion. The overall ambience of the resteraunt was beautiful, however, this is definitely a venue that needs to be booked on advance, extremely busy.
We ordered the taste of the sea which is so-so, for the price and taste is not worth it, charcuterie was awsome, can taste that they used quality meat and there are so many variety of pickles, at least more than 5, yumm! The dessert tasting plate was only ok, wont order it next time as everything was so rich and some got weird taste.
My favorite in Bendigo. Great ambience and service. Food is always amazing and I can't go past the dessert plate. Creme brûlée is to die for. Well worth the price. Would recommend to anyone.
Boyfriend and I went here last night for our anniversary and I haven't stopped raving about it since. We shared the pork belly entree, he had the Woodhouse Beef Burger for main and I had the Eye Fillet with triple cooked chips, salad and a red wine jus. It was hands down the best meal I have ever eaten in my life. The steak was cooked perfectly and the meat was so delicious. Often when you order a steak, the sides are thrown on the plate as an afterthought but everything on there had been given equal attention and was meant to be there. Seriously, the salad would've been my favourite thing on that plate if it weren't for the steak. For dessert we shared the Chocolate Chocolate Chocolate, which is rich as the name suggests so I'm glad we shared it. Service was quick and thorough and really polite. I'll definitely be back, everything was to die for. If you haven't had a steak here, you're seriously missing out.
Been here several times and rate it as Bendigo's best. Food and service are very good. Staff a little stiff and know they are good and look down their nose a little, a little provincial really. 4.5 for Bendigo but keep it real this is a 2.5 in any major city where the standards are higher. If you are in Bendigo it's warm mostly friendly and the food is the best you will get for a 100km.
A grand restaurant presenting with Great flavours and service..
Wide varieties of quality steak on offer, wood fired pizza and fine pork.
If your after something tasty the carpaccio is divine along with the pork belly.
The pizzas are rich and full flavoured and on the perfect base.
With cocktails in hand your sure to have a great night
The steak I had here was amazing. A little pricy but I'm happy to pay for it if it hits the mark. Small little touches like the mustards and condiments coming out with your steak. I had the bone marrow jus and it hit the mark. The service was amazing. By the way the oysters were freshly shucked and nice and cold.
Amazing service. Great selection of drinks. Fabulous food. You have to have the dessert tasting plate!
One of the best steaks I have had.. All I need to say is that we had some of the most amazing steaks at this place. The Woodhouse Wagyu Tasting plate is the one to get. The staff are awesome and the place is great. Try to get in the main dining area for the atmosphere.
This burger really is a triumph of using The best ingredients to create a very
Simple but mind bogglingly delicious Burger, perfection in country Victoria
This place is great for a nice meal with loved ones. Warm and attentive service without being over the top. Food was DELICIOUS - loved the steak, Wagyu burger and wood fired pizza. Reasonable prices for a lovely atmosphere.
Amazing food. Myself and a friend of mine are in Bendgio fairly regularly. WOW are we glad we found the Woodhouse. We have been three times now and each time has been amazing. EVERYTHING we have had has been brilliant! Yes the staff are young, no the chairs aren't particularly comfortable. OK the wine list is So-so (although it does feature some great local wines)
But these are minor niggles. The fact is that the Woodhouse has provided us with the most amazing steak, the best Charcuterie platter I have ever had and the best value one to boot as well as the best Sorbet it has ever been the pleasure to put in my mouth. (I know, no-one goes to a restaurant for a Sorbet...but I tell you it's worth it).
Smoked Wagyu Brisket. It's better than it sounds and it sounds freaking incredible.
It was so good I lured a food blogger down from Melb in the rain and the cold and he was totally sold on it.
Having sampled Bendigos so called "Best" places for over a year now I can confidently say that if you go anywhere else but the Woodhouse the next time your in Bendgio you are doing yourself a dis-service.
Divine. Our family had a “die and go to food heaven” experience at The Woodhouse Bendigo last week. The food was perfect in every way, the staff were super efficient and the ambience was perfect. And for a a GF family it was topped off by a good part of the menu being GF, including the kids menu and the desserts.
My husband and I both agreed that this was one of the best meals we’ve ever had, nationally or internationally. The desserts were superb and gave the main meals a run for their money. We are still talking about it a week later; and we've dined "everywhere man".

Perfect Meal. We dined here with friends and the service was exceptional, the wine list was extensive with a great selection. The Pizza's which we all opted to order were cooked perfectly, the Prawn and Moreton Bay Bug Pizza was simple but delish and the base cooked nice and crispy and not to thick was definitely the best pizza I have had in a long time. The desert tasting plate was exceptional, great selection and made with love. Definitely worth a visit but would suggest if you want a quiet dining experience to ask for a room, it was a little noisy in the main area with large groups.
You must try the dessert tasting plate, highlight of my night. My steak was also cooked perfectly. Great atmosphere and very knowledgeable staff.
Delicious. This was a return visit to The Woodhouse with my husband. We both had a Wagyu Steak which was cooked to perfection and as ordered. It was hard to choose just one dessert and even though I was tempted to try the tasting plate I ordered the Rhubarb and pear crumble. It is the best crumble I have ever had. Will definitely be back again. Service was great, staff very friendly.
Just Devine and you must have a dessert!
Nice food, great service but WAY overpriced for what you get. We went for Valentine's Day and were very impressed with the attentiveness, politeness and knowledge of the staff. They are definitely the strength here. Very professional and good at what they do. The setting and ambience is really comfortable. We don't drink wine but they seem to have a big range.
The food tastes great but it is WAY over priced. For entree, we had Brushcetta, which was pretty ordinary. Very dry and tasteless. Mains were Wagyu scotch fillet. My partner said it was up there with the best steaks he'd tasted but for just shy of $70, it'd want to be! He ordered salad, which appeared to be quite big, but on closer inspection was just a big pile of mixed lettuce with a couple of pieces of fetta on top. A few odd salad vegetables were scattered beside. The chips consisted of 5 (yes, only 5) fat cut pieces of potato. I had lamb pizza, which was absolutely delicious. The base was light, thin and not oily. However, for nearly $22 for a regular sized pizza, it was horrendously overpriced. Dessert was a tasting platter. Like the other courses, the food was terrific but consisted of 6 finger sized desserts for $25.
I would definitely go again if it wasn't so overpriced. Bendigo isn't exactly the gourmet centre of Victoria, so I don't think this restaurant warrants the prices they charge.
We had charcuterie platter, oysters, pork belly, carpaccio, Moreton Bay bug pizza and the local steak. All delicious and well beyond expectations.
Really top notch steaks which were cooked to perfection. Would skip starters next time as these were very pedestrian. Service was on the whole good. 9/10. Recommend.
Amazing meal!! Huge steak, really good salad with good ingredients and a serving of home style garlic chips. Was a great atmosphere, nicely priced. Really recommend for an occasion!
Delightful dinner. What an enjoyable experience at the Woodhouse in Bendigo. Spot on with the service ( from what I might add ) were young waiting staff . Great food, great ambience . The jewel in Bendigo's crown ....
Delicious. Pizzas were great !! Best in town !!
Fantastic perfectly cooked medium rare steak!. You pay for it, but it was a perfectly cooked and balanced meal. Brilliant service too! Will return!
Had Dinner With Two Girlfriends, Very Cosy Nice Atmosphere, Delicious Good. Staff Are Wonderful, Reasonable Priced With Main (Woodfire Pizza) , Drink And Dessert For Around $40.
Ate there Friday night with group, wine prices excellent, food prices a touch expensive.i found the pizza I had excellent, my wife had the pork cutlet at over $31 plus sides pretty rich. The waitress read the specials off a list. I could not understand what she said, we have been in hospitality for over 20 years and I believe this restaurant is a little pretentious for what it is, but good luck. Would I go back . Probly not
Pretty good, nice thoughtful gourmet pizzas and entrees. I did not have a steak but they looked quite good, they have probably gone a bit over the top with the 60 dollar grade 8 marble etc etc considering it is not its specialty. Definately recommended though

Had our Anniversary Dinner at The Woodhouse and I gotta say this has to be one of the best dining experience we have had so far.
We could not fault anything, from our entrees to desserts were nothing less than perfection. The dessert platter was absolutely mindblowing. Party in my mouth, just had to send my compliment to the chef!
5 STARS ALL THE WAY! I would give you 10 if I could!
Thank you!
Outstanding meal and wonderful service. Highly recommend ordering The Woodhouse Experience. Make sure you don't eat too much early in the day though!
Pricey fine dining but you get what you pay for. Exceptional service every time & the food is always sensational, we’ve never had a bad experience attending the woodhouse.
One of our favourite restaurants to visit when celebrating a special occasion.
Incredible dining experience with seriously delicious and Insta-worthy food. We did the Woodhouse experience menu, worth every cent. Porterhouse is not usually my favourite cut but this wood fired on the bone aged wagyu steak was blissfully tender, and the sauces to die for. The degustation menu came with artisanal sour dough, snacks (we changed the tartare for oysters), entrees - duck was exceptional, main with sides, palate cleanser and a plate of desserts that were as yummy as they were pretty. A very special night, well paced food, delightful service staff and lovely ambience. Don’t worry if they only have ‘outdoor’ available - the outside was completely covered and cosy. Enjoy.
An “I’ll have what she’s having” meal. Wow. Every course of the experience menu was spot on. We added the oysters to the ceviche and wagu tartare and so glad we did. I asked for 20 more wagu tartare (I think she thought I was joking). The steak was perfect, really good sear with that almost Parmesan flavour and inside it just melted.
Desert plate was a perfect ending.
Matching wines were excellent and well priced.
Cheapest meal ever, no, great value, heck yes.
Oh and the wait staff were superb.
We live in Bendigo nearly one week, I feel the restaurant is remarkable here. The food was absolutely delicious, all great!
This was a seriously great meal. Great steak. Great service and drinks. Think we were rushed a little due to covid sittings. Apart from that this is a too place for a great dinner.
Simply superb. Service was outstanding. Friendly, courteous and very attentive.
Steaks were supremely cooked and tasted incredible. Entree of steak tartare was a great way to start. Nice wine list also. I said I would drive back from Adelaide to have another meal there. I was not kidding.
