Friendly staff, great service. This gorgeous little hole in the wall is certainly worth a visit. Try some of their delicious goodies on offer. The seating along the lane way is really fun with all the bright, colourful street art.

Cute and cozy little coffee spot with nice Spanish food, perfect for a lazy weekend. The duck salad was a wonderful recommendation by the wait staff. The cold drip was prepared well, refreshing and came with a small palate cleanser. Great place to bring a date!

Greatest place we have been for a few years. Found this place by accident. If you get the chance get a table in the lane way. Not sure what to say. Food , excellent Service, knowledgeable Venue, quirky. Everything was great. 10/10. Might not suit everyone, but if you are relaxed and have time to enjoy a night , good food and great stories then this is for you. Beer, brilliant Order a tapes or two( Ceviche is a must) then relax Cocktails, unheard-of but amazing. It's more true Barcelona/Catalonia experience. Food, the owner was the chef but now working on the floor but damm the girl can cook. A++++++++ He walks around chatting, get a chair, well worth the story, has a passion for the food and drink. Didn't have a gin but will next time. If you have ever followed me then sit down, enjoy and relax....

El Gordo is definitely as MUST-GO for lunch or dinner when visiting Bendigo. Lots of food variety to choose. They also have nice beverage selections. We had lunch here and the atmosphere and the food is just beautiful. The food especially the bread tasted very fresh. Staff were also lovely and attentive. Would definitely be back when we come to visit Bendigo again ❤️

Nom nom nom! We found this delight by chance, grabbed a table and proceeded to order the entire tapas listing. It was delicious! Our waiter was attentive and quite energetic, adding to the ambience. My only change - add something that families can easily order for the kids

Day trip out to Bendigo and lunch @ElGordoBendigo Slow braised duck leg, sticky spiced orange sauce, beetroot, roquette, goats curd, candied walnuts & radish ensalada Lots of juicy delicious duck pieces are present, I love the hard flavour of the thin Manchego cheese slices which act like a seasoning, the freshness of the salad, fruitiness of the dressing, and crunch of walnuts. Churros, can't leave without the famous Spanish dessert and it didn't disappoint. Nice and crunchy doughnuts, smattering of cinnamon sugar and the delectable chocolate sauce is excellent. Also needed something to sustain me on the train trip back to Melbourne and got the croquettes which were yum. #SpanishFood #salad #duck #lunch #croquettes #Manchego #Churros #chocolate #dessert #sweettooth #Bendigo #foodie

On a recent trip from Melbourne to Bendigo, tucked away in a quaint little lane way we came across the El Gordo cafe which was a delightful discovery for my husband and myself. Warm, friendly, welcoming and helpful staff introduced us to the interesting menu, filled with tempting dishes. The shredded lamb, quinoa, hummus, salad was my choice, delish in every way. My husband's choice, the chicken burger, was equally impressive and satisfying. If only this little gem was in Melbourne, we would be regular customers. Can thoroughly recommend a visit, you won't be disappointed.

Popped in for a coffee and toastie today and my husband accidentally dropped his toastie on the ground. They replaced it immediately for him. Such great service and friendly staff. Their chai latte is pretty darn good too!

Absolutely awesome dining experience. Personable young waiter Harry talked us absolute 'newbies' to Spanish cuisine thru the menu, explained tapas and suggested we try the Patatas bravas ... absolutely delicious. Followed it up by the Racione options of almond milk poached and shredded chicken on quinoa with yoghurt and pea tendrils ... and a scrumptious lamb dish that absolutely dissolved in the mouth. Finished off with the nicest coffees and all of this was delivered with a smile and engaging conversation. Highly recommend this dining experience ... it was one of the very best we've had the pleasure of experiencing. Well priced, service with a smile 10/10 Loved it!!!! Cheers to Harry and the owners of this great cafe .... long may you prosper in Chancery Lane.

OMG! i just love this place so much :) The renovations look fantastic, and i just love the funky vibe of the cafe. The waiting staff are just so friendly and welcoming (and remember my drink order as soon as they see me!) The soy chai latte is to die for, and everything i have ever had off the menu is amazing! From the slow cooked specialties, soups, salads and gorgeous baguettes: i just love it all!! Topped off with one of the fabulous sweets, a visit to El Gordo is so worth it!!

Beautiful little treasure! Yummy cake and coffee, very friendly and caring service alongside a calming atmosphere. Loved it! (It's beautiful sitting in the lane way and having the breeze blow gentle floral fragrances your way from the the florist a few shops down 💐)

My second visit in a week, and was just as good the 2nd visit as it was the 1st. A hidden treasure of the Bendigo foodie scene, food was amazing, couldn't fault the service and an amazing atmosphere.

We love this place. Every visit to Bendigo includes a meal here. The food is really good, service great and we love the venue in the little laneway. Pulled pork burrito, sardine sandwich, croissants...all the food is fantastic.

A great find down a laneway for an old fashioned milkshake and iced coffee, jam on Manchego bites and a lovely beetroot cured salmon with octopus fennel and aioli.

Great food, great drinks, staff are so friendly and accommodating. Breakfast and coffee is great and also tapas and a cocktail is fab. It’s a really cool space too. We love El Gordo, just wish it was open in the evenings!

We had gone to El Gordo for lunch over the weekend during our first trip to Bendigo. It's located in a very cute lane. Lovely staff, very approachable. We ordered pulled pork burrito, chicken sandwich and a lime and mint mojito. Everything was fantastic👌🏼. We highly recommend this cafe 👍🏼

A friend and I were over for lunch during good Friday and my, it's one of the cutest little lanes we've seen so far. We dig the intimacy and the fact that staff were approachable. She had the pulled pork wrap and i had the smoked salmon brioche burger. I don't know about the price but I understand. It was our first time and Bendigo and we loved it.

We had a lovely late lunch here. The Cubano burrito was not what I expected, but then again, I've never had one before. It was more like a toasted wrap. The turtle bean salad was nice, I just found it odd that there were peas and corn in there. Also seasoning seemed lacking. I expected more punchier flavours. Maybe I'm comparing to South American cuisine too much. The service was absolutely lovely. Cannot fault it at all. And being Bendigo, they were happy to have a chat. Would love to return and try the dinner menu. PS, they also have pencils and colouring books for kids.<br/>
