Review House Of Khong - Bendigo

We had dinner there and it was delicious. Fully licensed but the drinks were very reasonable. Staff were pleasant especially the owner Jeannie. Very good and quick service. Would recommend đź‘Ś

We ordered Mongolian beef, Mongolian beef noodle another noodle. They are so sweet, i reckon they put at least 4 spoon of sugar on each plate. Don't go here if you are diabetic.

Was highly recommended to me but main courses were a bit bland and fried rice was also disappointing. Don't think I would make another night out there. Staff all friendly and attentive but meal let them down.

A group of us had a lovely meal at the House of Khong, very friendly staff and efficient service at a good price. Iwould highly recommend this place.

We will be back! Best Chinese dining in Bendigo we have experienced to date. If better? Looking forward to know?

Food was pretty average to be honest but the staff were friendly and attentive. Service was prompt and prices reasonable.

Been ordering delivery from another popular Chinese restaurant in Bendigo for years until they cashed in upping their prices too much. Tried House of Khong. Magnificent. Highly recommended.

I'm gob smacked this place has so many good reviews. Maybe I got the chef on a bad night. Home made spring roll was awesome. Chicken and mushroom was allright. Dont bother with fried rice, It's nothing but salt and not edible. The Tom yum is boring, not spicey and the prawns I added are tasteless

Great food and service busy Valentine's night but staff never faulted great hot food very tasty

I just ordered delivery from here. Within 30 minutes of ordering it arrived (I live over 15 minutes away). I've never had such a quick delivery. Food was the best Chinese I've ever eaten and amazingly good value. I strongly recommend it to everyone!

Jeanie from the House of Kong always makes our night special, she has great staff and excellent chefs but Jeanie 's personal service and interaction is what we enjoy. Your food is amazing. Top marks everyone.

Ordered 2 beef dim sims, 1 serve prawn toast, beef with oyster sauce and vegetarian Singapore noodles for roughly $36 for takeaway. Ready in 15 minutes. Beef was good, lots of sauce, noodles were bland, prawn toast wasn’t worth it and the fried dim sims were small.
Eat. Sleep. Create. Repeat.
All you can eat for $22. Great value for money. Friendly and fun staff to make the meal more enjoyable. You can order anything from the menu and it's fresh cooked. Some MSG and we find the combination is 3 different noodles, 5 different source, 6 vegetable and 3 meat ingredient reducing the surprise factor after a while. If there's is day 3 special dish then it will improve the experience.

Really poor experience. Had take away, not dine in. Used online booking tool then was told it would be a 90 minute wait for delivery, so we chose to pick it up and had to wait 40mins to do so. We picked it up at the appointed time and drove it 700m to where we were staying and the entrées were not only incomplete but barely tepid at best, the mains just warm. The satay chicken tasted insipid and bland in a watery sauce, the mongolian beef in fairness was tender with a slightly better flavour but it seemed accross both dishes the same bulk mixed vegetables were used- no variety. The special fried rice was anything but special and was tasteless with the strongest flavour the oil it was "fried" in..... I say that loosely as it was more steamed rice with frozen veggies, ham and tinned prawns stirred through it. After calling the restaurant we were offered a replacement order on another day but the food was so poor we won't be back to take up the offer, and what was leftover was thrown out instead of insulting the fridge with it's presence.

Best Chinese in Bendigo!! The All You Can Eat is a must! The complimentary prawn crackers and fortune cookies were a nice touch... My destiny is to come back here again.

To my surprise, the all you can eat dinner experience,is not served in a luke warm bay marie, but is actually ordered by the patron and then distributed fresh from the kitchen each time. Although one of our orders was forgotten originally, the service was good and once alerted about the error, they were very apologetic. Drinks were out quickly and the food was good and certainly fresh. Could not complain for $20.90 a head.

Just a note to owners, when you put corn and crab meat soup on your menu, I'd expect a lovely fresh soup with (surprisingly) corn and crab meat.

So when you serve me glutinous muck with chicken, corn and seafood extender (that dyed red stuff) without a hint of real crab meat, I get annoyed, and don't come back.

As the location is conveniently close to the art gallery it was decided to go for the all you can eat lunch. If it's to good to be true it probably isn't true. This is the lesson I took away. Most of the servings was very oily and bland.

Good was fairly poor quality and too fast be be fresh. Also overpriced for the quality of food. The restaurant was a bit cold for our liking. Maybe I have been spoiled in Footscray

Ordered take-away here through Tuckerfox online. The food was very well priced and the delivery charge was only $2.50! I don't order a lot of Asian food normally so I don't have a lot to compare it to but I enjoyed my meal. The menu was extensive and I tried a number of smaller plates ie pork bun, dim sim etc. Would order here again.

All you can eat lunch...great!. The host is very friendly and helpful, $13.50 for all you can eat lunch was awesome! The food was delicious and the 'buffet' was very amusing. It's quite unusual to find tim tams and jam roll on a chinese buffet, but we loved it! Had to laugh at one of the waiters - very enthusiastically running to get things and walking back super composed!

Great food. Fast service. Food coma inducing. Best ive had in a long time. Needs a non-alcoholic drinks menu. Prawn crackers were a bit stale but free

Absolutely marvellous the food was so terrific. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone, the lady owner is so friendly she knows how to look after her customers!
I'll definetly be going back to the house of Khong.
Keep up the good work guys

Chinese food bendigo style fails to disappoint. House of Khong offers a unique dining experience, after being a food journalist for 5 years I was intrigued to try what all the hype was about.

Yes the dishes are high in MSG, but that has to be expected in the 21st century where our food is no high in preservatives....... But the dishes were superb.

The Manager was amazing, such a character, it was worth it just for her.

Will definitely return when traveling through bendigo again.

Yukky. $18 dollars isn’t cheap all you can eat dining when the hidden costs include $4 for a cola and $3 for a green tea bag.

I got a head ache just hearing the list of restrictive buffet rules (even before the MSG and red food colouring hit). These rules stipulate that customers order individual dishes from the menu rather than self-serve, leading to significant and annoying waiting periods between every bight and not enough opportunity to view or eat a variety of foods. Buffet diners may not order any seafood dish.

The décor is entertainingly bad. It smacks of orientalia with matching waitresses in dress-up costumes suitable for the theatre although no authentic feng shui. The highlight of kitch was the giant waving good luck cat in the lobby. No self-respecting Chinese person would be seen dead in such an environment. The red lino covered tables scream fast food establishment. The chairs are comfortable but the tables are too crowded.

For food quality, I recommend the drive through at KFC over House of Khong Dynasty.

Yummy. Great atmosphere, affordable pricing, good friendly service, all you can eat, even has home delivery and work place delivery service. Take away also available. Diffently coming back. Try the fried duck in plum sauce, sensational!

Country Chinese. If you are after traditional country town Chinese and have the traditional dishes you will not be disappointed.
Go to Roma SA if you want something different. There is no Shark's Fin Inn in Bendigo.
There are times when this is just the right thing.
The owner is scatty but likeable.
We did NOT get MSG/salt poisoning and will go again.

The best Chinese restraunt in all of Victoria! Not so much for the food, but for the fantastic character of a owner- she's a hoot!!!

Unfortunately my Wife has an intolerance to sulphites so has to drink organically produced wine. We brought a bottle with us as we like a glass of wine with our dinner but aparently because "we are a fully licensed restaurant" this means "she'll have to drink water". Oh, and they don't offer an organic wine themselves, which we would happily purchase rather than drinking our own. I am sure they would cater for people with all sorts of food allergies but told us no due to having an allergy associated to wine. The manager was extremely rude and didn't care in the slightest that we decided not to eat there. Surely a corkage charge could have been taken in order for my Wife to have a glass of wine?? We will never be dining at the restaurant.
Annie
Positive experience. Yummy food at a great price and lovely staff. Nothing is too much trouble for them.

Excellent. I really don't understand the negative reviews, probably because the people who enjoy the food at HOK are spending there time eating, and not jumping on a website to complain because they spent a extravagant amount of $18 for a all u can eat and expected something more.all and all,I find the food to be great, for each and every time I've been there.

So so SO shiny. Good lord.... did they measure the MSG or just tip it all in? I swear i could do my hair in my reflection of my food...... I was up all night with that freaking metallic taste in my mouth.

I would highly recommend if you're a big fan of Muriel's Wedding though... you'll probably see Bill Heslof in there!!

Just kidding, avoid it like the plague.... I have a feeling the older generation probably still think it's a bit of a treat, but it's just horrible and represents everything that is wrong about the old Aussie-chinese menu

Great for a late Sunday night takeaway. Quick service and good food.

One of my Favorites!. I have been coming here for years and think it's by far the best Asian Restaurant in Bendigo! They do a great all you can eat too where you choose your dishes and they make it for you fresh, which is a great change to the traditional smorgasbord!

Poor Poor Poor!. The food was poor the service poor and the value is poor. Bland and contrived Thai, Chinese food that was very badly prepared. Upon ordering we were told you should not order more dishes as it would be enough, it was not. We were then charged $27 for plain steamed rice that was overcooked, disappointing. A dish arrived after we had finished and we struggled to order drinks as the service lacked coordination. Promised so much delivered so little.

Horrible. This was our introduction to Asian cuisine bendigo style, and it frightened us. For a town with such a rich Chinese heritage, you be forgiven for expecting good Chinese food! We had a number of dishes, all very disappointing. Oily, limp, bland and uninspiring food awaits you. Go to the Malaysian place in pall mall. They're much better.

Worst Chinese I have had!!!

Terrible stuff!. MSG! Sugar! Tenderised meat +++. Why? Why? AVOID!
